I have always loved him ever since my first playthrough when early access started, but yeah, his release look is definitely much better than it was back in those days.
I _loved_ it, thanks! The first clip, when he says "No offense" to Astarion who replies "Only a _little_ taken •pouts obviously•" is the stuff I wish they had more often. The characters only interact with Tav, but rarely with each other. I always laugh at the clown-scene, when the other party members approve when you throw one of them under the bus. Feels like friendship. Or when you ask Lae'zel before freeing her to "say please" and Astarion and Shadowheart immediately approve. Feels like I can hear them snickering gleefully in my back, trying to keep it low. But honestly, the first moment I pulled Gale from the stone and he was funny, knowledgeable, very friendly, had a cat and a library and wasn't ashamed of his outstanding talent, I wanted to carry him to camp like a princess. Gifted people get a lot of shit from their peers, so they often turn somewhat bitter over the years (as if being gifted was a shameful, outrageous thing), yet he bears that people will view him as arrogant (however natural he tries to behave), with humour. I mean, being gifted can be quite lonely, because you can rarely talk about your thing(s) with others (often, you're not even allowed to be proud of your things), then being somewhat ostracised for it on the other hand ... sucks. I so love that he always tries to find a positive way through things, to grasp a normal social life, while still being gifted and funny and a bookworm. I so love this character!
Yeah, seeing these moments between him and Astarion give me more of the feeling of comradery slowly building where as in game we mostly just get bants of them sniping at eachother even though their lategame camp layouts make them seem like besties. I do notice, however, that whenever I see these interactions it's usually Gale and Astarion... which makes me wonder if some of tge writers were just getting much more onto coming up with stuff like this tgan others, and then there's the characters who were added in late who would need last minute dialogues... I wonder if that led to these being scrapped to simplify and meet a deadline in the rewrites... it makes sense but is sooo frustrating. But then they also scrapped THE ENTIRE UPPER CITY so... *sigh*
EA Gale’s dry wit comes off as so condescending because he’s not smiling most of the time-when you interact with the artefact, his quips make him sound like he thinks you’re a neanderthal fumbling with an iphone, but in full release he’s smiling so it comes off more as a “Ah, magic is so quirky, isn’t it? Don’t blame you for not understanding this weird object.”
I think they also over did it in EA... I like that they gave it a bit more of an awkward nerdy edge in the final product and made him less boastful given how Mystra cast him out laid him low and it wasn't really coming across well in EA... but I do wish they kept some of it in, especially his exchanges with Astarion... in the final product you don't really get to see comradery growing between them as much even though the late game camp set ups would have you think they're besties. Lol. It feels like we mostly only get the bants of them sniping at each other.
I wish there was a way to ensure you got certain character inputs aside from having them be the only other party member, but ah well. Some of these dialogues have been changed too from their EA versions so that's another reason you might not have encountered them

Like someone made a human face that somehow doesn't look like anyone I've met and yet looks like everyone I've met at the same time.
The way he shakes his head a little when he says he's a wizard of considerable acclaim and then even more when saying he's a scholar of exceptional accomplishment.

The serendipity dialogue is still in the game, you have to fail a roll in the weave scene to get it. But the perhaps dialogue was probably top 3 favorite moments for me so I'm really sad that's not in thr game anymore.
EA Gale Was such a tease! I loved everything he said about their night together. It seems like he's a lot more awkward and less sarcastic now. Even though I like both versions of him, I think I prefer him being a little snarky. ☺️

Hahah it was the old morning after the first dream from your dream visitor. There used to be a cutscene before going to sleep that showed all of them being really sick and thinking about maybe they are going to transform.
A lot of these have been changed since the early access - I think majority of this video's clips are unattainable now due the changes, like the tiefling party romance, dream visitor stuff, how his condition progresses and rewriting his confession about Mystra.
