I find it interesting that joker is the only one to say “riddle me this” in the entire movie and not the riddler.

I just want the existence of the Joker in this franchise only as a side enemy, like the Penguin in the movie.
Me too, man
I think thats the plan
That’ll be really tight
Just like how Hannibal Lecter steals the show in Silence of the Lambs but he is not the main antagonist.
The Penguin is getting his own spin off show for HBO Max.
I wouldn’t mind Joker as the villain for the next villain, but we’ve seen too much Joker, I would like to see someone like Mr. Freeze or Poison Ivy
Yes, redeem them from that atrocity known as 'Batman & Robin'.
Exactly joker should be like a side enemy like the penguin
Edit: but later on he should become the one behind a lot of bad things that are happening to Gotham and should have an epic reveal and eventually becoming main villain
The problem with Mr. Freeze and Poison Ivy is that they won't work on the real world
I'd like to see clayface killer croc hush
a new scare crow the ventriloquist in layer movies or brief cameos in arkham asylum
Maybe Jane Doe
While I love Joker, I’d love to see a different villain in the sequel like Mr. Freeze, the city is literally *submerged* in water and that’d be a perfect plan.
Tbh, I don't see a more modern empathetic take on Mr. Freeze having a plan like that, since that's probably the version Matt Reeves will go with. It'd be more about him committing crime for the sake of saving his wife.
I'd also love to see the Mad Hatter.

I get people being tired of seeing The Joker in live-action films, but Matt Reeves has proven he understands Batman extremely well and Barry Keoghan is a phenomenal actor, so personally, I'm quite excited to see how this character is handled. I think the best approach for Joker would be to give him an ambiguous backstory and to make him a cameo in the sequels to lead up to/foreshadow him being the main villain of a later film.
I agree! And did everyone forget that there are plenty of great Joker stories out there that need to be seen on the big screen? A Death in the Family, anyone?
@@halloweenfriday I understand but we had so many jokers. Leto, phoenix and Monaghan.

joaquin phoenix’s joker and battinson should be in the same universe
Ngl I like this Joker. His voice the actor chose makes him sound like a mischievous devil.
Yes, especially in the context of this movie. Riddler jokingly told Batman “I told you I’d see you in hell.” And here, the color patterns mirror hell with lots of red and black and orange, and of course we all know how evil joker is in previous literature. It’s as though Riddler just met Satan.
The actor (Barry Keoghan) is already pretty close to the joker irl

He's always the devil, and this... Hmhmhm does put a smile on my face
Meanwhile in Two-Face's cell:
"Shut the hell up, you giggling garbage fires!!"
'We're trying to get some sleep here!'
The Joker was able to manipulate The Riddler because he already was shown a glimpse into this new serial killer’s mind from The Batman. The Batman came to The Joker to try and get a different perspective only for The Joker to immediately point out the Similarities & Differences between The Batman and The Riddler. The Joker then uses The Riddlers riddles as a way to gain a friendship/alliance that would allow them to escape Arkham and pursue the Bat for their own reasons; The Batman catching & throwing The Joker in Arkham and The Batman betraying and refusing to side with The Riddler. THIS is a classic Batman style story and it is executed PERFECTLY.

I like joker’s riddle. It’s a sort of Rorschach test. Literally everything is more valuable when there’s less of them. So when riddler answered “a friend”, joker now knows how to manipulate him, hence the laugh.
No dude the answer is the joker card in card games
@miketaco4996 Right, I also thought "A laugh", which would be fitting as well
Exactly. This Joker is has a Hannibal Lector - like ability to read people, which makes him terrifying in such little screen time.
My answer to the riddle was “teeth”😂
What a truly pithy, insightful observation! And also very well put, indeed! 🤔 🧐
Joker will be the anonymous main antagonist of the series without lifting a finger from inside Arkham. I seriously believe that. He’s working things out in his head and sizing up everyone’s weaknesses and strengths he comes across. He studies people and is very smart.
You can't have Batman without the Joker. That's like Superman without Lex Luthor.
Exactly! A whole trilogy without at least a mention of the Clown Prince of Crime would feel incomplete. That said, I like the fact that he’s a supporting character, so that the other villains can have their time to shine. Paul Dano as the Riddler is fantastic, and I can’t wait to see what he’s brewing up next with the Joker!
And Spider-Man without The Green Goblin and The Fantastic Four without Dr Doom
Yes you can. Two of the best Batman films didn’t need him and they were flawless movies
@@nunka34ify no you can’t
Yes, you can have Batman without the Joker, the Joker is so overused that makes the Batman universe boring, not every Batman story with the Joker in it needs to be amazing. The Joker is my least favorite villain cause I'm sick to death of him being so overused in live-action films, video games, and comics. he was also grossly overused in the Arkham series, especially Arkham Origins and Knight. Give the Joker a long break, use a different villain, do something new and original.

One thing I don't see a lot of people catching is just how excited Riddler is when he hears Joker laugh. He's been following Batmans exploits obsessively, which means he's probably familiar with Joker to some extent. Maybe he read a police report which described him as having a "frightening laugh." Maybe he realized who he was talking to when he started to laugh. This is all just speculation, but I like the idea of it.
I wonder if Riddler Year One will progress to depict something like that. Maybe he catches wind of or even witnesses Joker's arrest by Batman
@@jorts_master69 that's the hope

“We have a *masked vigilante* running the streets!”

In retrospect, Jayme Lawson’s emphasis on “masked vigilante” was outstanding.
Barry Keoghan is going to absolutely nail the joker in the next movie. He is Brilliant.
I feel like Joker is using a lot of manipulative words to get Riddler on his side, but he does actually like Riddler and sees potential in their shared insanity
The perfect riddler. Casting was on point
It's interesting how this Joker sounds less like a criminal mastermind and more like a juvenile delinquent.
From 0:30 to 1:52, that is when I knew Riddler's neighborly inmate was Joker. First, his quote, he says "One day you are on top, the next day you are a clown." Joker is a clown. Second, his quote "Don't be sad. You did so well." is a cue that the inmate wants the Riddler to laugh. You know else wants people to laugh especially Batman? Joker. Also, when the inmate mocked the Riddler by saying, "Riddle me this." that was another cue that led to figure out that the inmate was Joker. The Joker likes to mock people especially his fellow Batman villains. And the cherry on top was the laugh and that was when I knew the inmate was Joker.
Imagine hearing that laugh coming from someone that looks like Joker. Genuinely disturbing and terrifying.
I really hope Matt Reeves doesn't make the Joker a main villain yet. I hope they don't make him the main villain until probably the last film, and his plan should be like the plot of Batman Live from 2011 where all the villains join together and try to beat Batman.
I also have a little story theory: During Bruce's first two years as Batman, the Joker was a villain that was put in Arkham, and the reason he hasn't broken out yet is because he's planning "a comeback story", and he wants all the help he can get, starting with the Riddler and expanding with other villains like Penguin and possible future villains like Scarecrow and Mr Freeze.
Yeah that can be like Thanos in Avengers movie and Joker could be the Batman’s biggest baddies in this franchise like Thanos

@@walterwhite4699 Sure, it's awkwardly inserted into the overall ending, but even this scene was included by Matt Reeves for world-building reasons, according to him. Nah I’d rather they just don’t do a “joker vs Batman” film and stick to his small role in “A Serious House” it’d be much more fitting

They literally just did a whole "revealing who truly runs Gotham" plot with Falcone, then theyd do a SECOND "revealing who truly runs Gotham" plot which would then undermine Falcone and by extension the entire first movie??? Idk why people want that, it makes no narrative sense at all.
I really love how the deleted scene puts this in context: joker here knows what buttons to push on riddler here. Super cool

Flawless logic.
This scene reminded me of Fox's Gotham when Penguin Meets Jerome In Arkham.
This film is a masterpiece. With the exception of the Leto version, I've always really enjoyed the movie versions of Joker thinking that Nicholson's and Phoenix's were the best. This Joker, however, in just 6 minutes overall, between the deleted scene and the actual scene of the film, really impressed and captured me. For the first time I saw a disturbing and truly terrifying Joker, thanks also to the extraordinary interpretation of Barry Keoghan (in 6 Minutes it is not for everyone to impress in this way, truly an exceptional actor) who also gave us one of the most laughs. fascinating character (practically a Hyena). I can't wait to see it again and it doesn't bother me in the least that it's yet another version of Joker especially with the sequel to the Phoenix movie. When it comes to actors of this level, I can't help but be happy. Let's hope that he really appears in the "Arkham" series, as well as the sequel to the main film, as I think he will be one of the actual protagonists of the trilogy up to the last chapter. I do not particularly dwell on the riddle; I'm just saying Paul Dano was exceptional.
I deadass don’t want to see a Joker sequel given the rumors of it being a musical smh
@@joscar062 A musical associated with the psychological condition "Folie a deux" could create a really interesting film where dancing and singing, both in the minds of the two characters, could create a psychological symposium in which Joker slowly leads Dr. Quinzel into madness. So in my opinion it is not dramatic information. However, it is a film that shouldn't exist, since it betrays the essentials of the first film and above all it betrays the marketing campaign of the first film ("there will never be a sequel" etc.)
@@federico1989 I’d still probably watch that sequel tho. I don’t expect it to be nearly as good as the first film, but I hope it’s good at most or decent at least.
EXACTLY 👍👍
@@joscar062 he's sick a d twisted they are treating him like a clown? They aren't treating this character that was the created for picture books aimed at children with the utmost seriousness it deserves.
Gaurd: *stands and watches in horror* "hey guys let's move the joker away from that riddler character..."
I suspect that the guards in Arkham are just as insane as the inmates, which is why there are so many escapes.
I want Joker to be working behind the scenes until the 4th or 5th movie. He's been on the big screen for too long, and that's coming from a lifelong Joker fan, and we could see other big villains like Hush, Mad Hatter, or even Freeze. Let Joker recruit a laundry list of villains for something huge later down the line.
Maybe he could be a main character in the Arkham spin off show.
like Thanos?
