This reminded me of Arkham Origins where if I’m not mistaken Bane finds the batcave while Alfred is there and destroys it and the batmobile. While doing so Alfred got hurt and wasn’t breathing, Batman in the batwing couldn’t get in contact with him and yelled “Alfred! ALFRED!!” with fear and rage when Alfred didn’t respond.

After watching this scene multiple times, i finally realized it wouldnt have mattered even if Bruce was there. Judging by what is happening, seems like Alfred checks all the mail before giving it to anyone and maybe if Bruce was expecting something he would have told Alfred to give it to him and not open it. Alfred curiously and protectively opened the package for how sketchy the package was. The riddler surely didn't expect a Butler in the family haha
Considering how dismissive Bruce was toward his work, I doubt he even bothers checking his mail even if Alfred gives them to him. So naturally Alfred has to look at them himself.
To add, Alfred checks it because the package inside says ‘For the Batman’. This line of text is what fully drives him towards opening the package when otherwise he might have thought of nothing much. Alfred obviously knows Batman is Bruce and him opening the unknown bomb is proof that he would rather risk opening an unknown threat onto himself than having Bruce face it. It’s morbid curiosity mixed with compassion for protecting Bruce.
One thing I love about this scene is that it actually gives meaning to the usual batman scene where he just leaves gordon whever he turns his back without staying to get any extra details or anything about any case they are pursuing. Here he HAS to leave because this is an actual emergency

Alfred in a random night of November:
Christ that title is so much funnier to me than it should be
*Alfred blows the hell up*
Man from 2:11 on reminded me of David Fincher movie. The acting and setting are all Fincher inspired. This whole movie! The Riddler is John Doe. Batman and Gordon are Mills and Somerset
I just love how they captioned this scene….”Alfred Blows Up” even though he doesn’t die lol
