Depends on the car. Here in Europe the 6 series comes also with a 3 litre, twin turbo diesel. With Bimmercode there are a ton of vehicle sounds and tweaks available from throughout the BMW range, including different sound levels within each catagory. For example, if I code her to the M5 I have 4 sound level settings AND have the option to select the Competition or standard M5. Admittedly when coded to the highest sound level it DOES tend to be a bit loud but hell does it sound good....especially if you own a diesel !

Can you confirm if ASD in Europe on a 635d can be enhanced to make the exterior exhaust sound louder and more sporty outside, or is this only an enhancement to improve inside the cabin via interior speakers sound profile? I also have a 840d that I want to do this on but can't find any information anywhere.
IF you have ASD fitted, its only audible INSIDE the cabin. IF it was loud enough it MAY filter outside but most likely won't be heard over road noise and the engine noise of your vehicle. Some aftermarker kits DO have speakers outside the vehicle I believe.
i’m fast becoming one of those guys that the bimmerpost guys hate: 1) I love rev match 2) i love ASD. I coded it off and missed it. since i’m not doing after market exhaust, better for my cabin to be loud vs my neighbors hating me. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
This might be unpopular opinion but I think some cars are better with ASD enabled. For example my '17 (F32) 430i M-Sport is damn near silent with stock exhaust, windows up and ASD disabled. ASD off on my car sounded the exactly the same just extra quiet (due to the insulation) so it leads me to believe BMW is being honest when they say it's re-piped sound from the engine itself and not fake sound. Perhaps other models might inject "fake sound", but at least in the case of the 430i, I think it actually needs ASD so you can actually hear your car reasonably

I mean ASD makes the car sound awesome but what is the point of spending shit load of money to buy a proper sport car when the sound you hear is not coming from the engine? At this point save yourself a lot of money by buying the cheapest Fiat 500 and put the sound of a Ferrari 458 in it.

hey guys! ive been having some trouble getting my Bimmercode to work on my BMW f30 2017. Do you guys have any suggestions on how to get it to start working?
As an owner of a BMW M sport, its about the fact that you pay a premium price and to have the audio system create a fake sound is completely unacceptable. The week after I had my vehicle delivered I read about this fake sound thing online. I kid you not, its turned me off driving my new vehicle. Everytime I hear it revving in the cab, I know its FAF (Fake As Fuck). Surpised the brand doesn't have a choose your exhaust sound in the menu list, hell can I add a Lambo fake sound to it, just to mind fuck my passengers? Love the car, disappointed in such a very poor design element.
So I got my car coded through bimmer link to always have exhaust flaps open, it worked for a couple minutes and than went back into closing back the valves, anyone know why/solution?
I coded mine out on my F80, and it’s been off since and I love it, I actually hear the car’s exhaust and yea all active sound is fake engine noise
I think the drone on the freeway is actually people sitting in Sport rather than Comfort. If you cruise in comfort there is no drone.
I turned off ASD on my f87 and put the exhaust flaps into always open in sport/sport+ through Bootmod3. Love the way it sounds.
Once you get a full exhaust I think you'll appreciate it even more

You can also disable “Active Sound” with BM3 in the diagnostic section but it affects your burbles.

I drove an F80 and a B8.5 S4. Both of those cars have it and it didn't bother me at all. But I could tell right away that the sound was fake.
