hectic reacts reaction review nu metal
6:20 "the organ solo is fire"
Richie Blackmore: "Hold my beer"
One of the originators of shred.
Well, Jon Lord is the god of the rock organ, so you can't compare those two solos.
Bach.
Lord and Blackmore, two of the best to ever play. The whole band was very special, probably the best ever.
@@Varinz except to say both are great solos.
Phil X did a COVID version and played both solos on his guitar!
48 years later, still the single greatest song for high-speed driving ever recorded.
Weeelllll, I've had a few high speed driving incidents to Ministry's Just One Fix. When you are in a 470 hp Camaro that can be trouble.
That and "Burn."
And Trashed (by Sabbath) and Born to be Wild and Highway to Hell.
Radar love too.
By golden earring 1974
I really love seeing the reaction of someone your age to music that your grandparents probably listened to. Ritchie Blackmore is one of the greatest guitarists in history, too bad he never got the recognition for that.
He received much love from the masses in the 60's, 70's, and 80's. He is usually ranked right up there with Jimmy Page.
Blackmore is amazing, but... not that easy to work with unfortunately. Sigh... If he and Dio stayed on Rainbow, it would've been truly legendary
@@ArtWithSR it is actually better that he didn't stay in rainbow. Can you imagine Dio sing this love songs rainbow wrote when he left? Dio once said: Blackmore wanted to write love songs and become a pop star. While I wanted to write classic hard Rock music.
There are probably better guitarists out there, but Ritchie Blackmore made amazing songs with his amazing guitar skills.
Richie Blackmore is one of the most underated guitarists of all time. He is still ridiculously good.
The best part of classic Deep Purple is always the dualing solos between Richie Blackmore and Jon Lord
The fans always remain the winners.
Or Ritchie and Ian Gillans voice. A good example is in Strange Kind of Woman from Made in Japan.
The guitar player from Deep Purple, Ritchie Blackmore, is the same guitar player that was in Rainbow and had the killer solo in the Stargazer video from yesterday.
I was about to say that
No shit Sherlock...who knew?
don, he's only one of the very few guitarist's that can be called the greatest of all time... he's in the company of page, clapton, hendrix, santana, all of them...
@David Topchiev ... Purple were a drinking band originally, then ran into drug related problems after Ritchie left Purple ... but the mentioned guitarist's were/are all virtuoso's on their instruments... as a former using addict myself, I'm just glad they're mostly still alive...
Deep Purple- “Child In Time” (Studio Version)
Absolutely!!
This is a MUST. Try the one titled "Deep Purple - Child In Time - 1970". It's recorded live in the BBC studios in 1970. The audience is silent because they don't want audience noise for the recording - they aren't dead.
Do it, you won’t regret it. -Matt
FUCK YEAH
From made in japan
Got my first speeding ticket to this song in 86! Pure adrenaline. Raw talent.
Had one of the first 2nd gen RX7 in LA county and had a speeding ticket 6hrs later n Huntington beach to this song, cop had no idea what car it was so I popped the hood and showed him a cube instead of a piston engine. Dude thought I was from the future. Still got the ticket ;-)
This is the studio version from the classic album "Machine Head", you should check out the live version from the equally classic live-album "Made in Japan"
The organ solo in this version is just AWSOME!
True. The solo on Made In Japan is completely mind blowing.
side 1's good. the rest zzzzzzzzzzzz
There is Not One reaction video to "Highway Star" from the Made in Japan Album. Which indicates to me that particular version is being blocked by the record company. Shame..I'd love to see other people have the same first time reaction that I had to that Classic Version.
One of the greats, the guitar player Richie Blackmore founded the band Rainbow which you reacted to. You should listen to a song Purple did called Black Night 👌👌🔥
ritchie blackmore plays in a medieval folk rock band with his wife (the vocalist) now, called Blackmore's Night...they're quite good...he even plays mandolin and hurdy gurdy...here's one of their songs: ua-cam.com/video/-IzVUOtMHa4/v-deo.html they've got better songs, but ritchie's guitar is on full display here (acoustic)
funny thing is, Black Night is a total rip off. just like some other Purple songs. :)
What's it a rip off of?
Grigor Simeonov an opening riff for Summertime, a jazz standard by George Gershwin in its' Ricky Nelson's version.
ua-cam.com/video/DtsMj0JD8N8/v-deo.html
Pantera- This Love
Hollow
Jerred Boshears That’s a good one
Joshua Brashear 2000 Ozzfest version🤘
Kulu Olsen I like the Monster Of Rock version
Joshua Brashear Not sure I've seen that one, but will check it out.
I just dig the overall vibe at the one on Ozzfest and Phil's screams on that are brutal as fuck😬🤘👌
Deep Purple - Burn
Martin Simeonov oh yeah live performance Richie Blackmore guitar
Martin Simeonov The people laughed till' she said "BURN!" 🤘🎸
HELL YEAH
this must happen!!!
Yes!!
Personally, I think their most underrated masterpiece is 'Lazy.' It was made so John Lord and Ritchie Blackmore could riff off each other in concert and is absolutely incredible.
Ritchie Blackmore is pretty much the inventor of modern shred techniques. Jon Lord, the keyboard player, was on another level, too! Deep Purple and Black Sabbath set up modern Metal, there is no doubt about that. Black Sabbath made it dark; Deep Purple made it technical.
Totally agree about Blackmore.
Yes!!
And Ian Gillan is the guy who inspired to Bruce Dickinson to start singing so he killed 2 birds with one stone.
Agree with that .
And inspired Eric Adams from Manowar too ;)
Dio - Rainbow In the Dark
You'll be own away bro
Deep purple hands down the best live band in rock history...
Skynyrd
@@Leatherface123. It's all just opinion. Many do a great live show. And not all bands/groups do a great live show every single time. I saw Zeppelin live, and that particular show was just so-so, yet, Zeppelin is one of my all-time favorites, and they have put on some incredible live shows. Just not the one I saw.
I love Deep Purple but that title belongs to Queen
I've seen Deep Purple three times, once with Ritchie & Jon and twice with Steve & Don. Debatable as best but absolutely "A" for effort.
I AGREE! I SAW THEM AUG.1972 RIGHT WHEN THEY CAME BACK FROM JAPAN! DANIA,FL.PIRATES WORLD! THE CONCERT WAS MEZMERIZING, AND INCREDIBLE! WHAT MADE IT EVEN BETTER WAS FLEETWOOD MAC OPENED FOR THEM! ONLY$6. LOL
That keyboardist is so skilled. I've seen them in concert, you would never believe how good he is. He had like 5 different key instruments. A piano an organ a synthesizer and a couple others
You NEED to react to Helloween!! I Want Out or Eagle Fly Free, Michael Kiske will change your life.
Michael Kiske = amazing voice ❤️
Only reason I haven't suggested them is because he only does one song at a time, and I'd suggest keeper of the seven keys
I'd suggest March of Time.. but I want him to hear that Eagle Fly Free's bass solo as well..
Yeah that's a rare instance of a band actually getting better and better as the years went on, and they started out great too. Nabatea is amazing.
YES! I'd say either Eagle Fly Free or The Keeper Of The Seven Keys would do it
bringing out the big guns!!!!!!!
Larry Whitaker if you like solos, watch the live version of comfortably numb by pink Floyd. Don't pause the second solo, it's (one of) the best ever made
I'm not sure why this is an answer to your comment now, but it's definitely not supposed to
Dude you would have ROCKED OUT in the 70's and 80's!!!!!
I had a 1973 Cutlass 442 that I had painted purple. Every one in town called it the highway star.
TOOL - THE POT
Also love their other song "Space Truckin"!
Rocks.
OMG... yes!
" their other song " ? They did more than two you know.
Clive - it's another of their songs. I think you misinterpreted my post.
You referred to it as " their other song ". like there are only 2 of them.
Hard lovin Man ' Speed King
Great song to drive your Mustang to!
Lemmy called this song the blueprint for metal. Speed, structure and solos all over the place.
Jon Lorde is the best rock keyboardist of all-time
I say he is the best Hammond B3 organ player ever lived.
Grave Mike I say you’re both right! By a large margin
Keith Emerson is up there.
For sure. I guess it's just a question of style preference
Both Jon Lord and Rick Wakeman say the best Hammond B3 solo is Rod Argent's Hold Your Head Up. And they're right.
Another great deep purple song is "perfect strangers"
No lie. Perfect Strangers is one the most awesome rock songs in history.
Richie Blackmore (guitar) and Jon Lord (keyboard) are both total masters and criminally underrated. They are both also extremely influential.
Thanks for the reaction! When us kids of the 70s bang on about the music from our era we often get the bored eye-roll from people who aren’t familiar with it. Thanks to videos like this, a few more from later generations will now understand what it’s about. Legendary bands like Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin laid the foundation for heavy rock (we didn’t call it heavy metal back then, that was a specific genre which followed later.) These original heavy rock bands had a lot more in their toolbox as you can see here, and the virtuoso musicianship is the result of necessity (they had less sophisticated technology to lean on,) hard work (it was a time when people grafted for success rather than expecting it on a plate) and obviously, sheer natural talent.
Opeth- Ghost of Perdition 😎
Looooove Deep Purple!
Matthew Moore Cichlids hope he reacts to Deep purple - Burn soon if he likes this. Definitely their best song
Highway fucking star nr.1! always
This guitarist is the same one that played the solo on Stargazer by Rainbow Ritchie Blackmore, that's why the solo is awesome and out of this world great.
Deep purple hold the title in the guiness book of records as the loudest concert. It was so loud it registered on the ricture scale (rates strength of earthquakes
PROTEST THE HERO
I don't listen to PtH much anymore but honestly this is a must for Alex to listen to. Protest the Hero is an insanely talented group of musicians. Must hear for sure.
Heretic and Killers
Blackmore is one of the alltime best guitar players in the world ;) And as a request to react to, maybe something from the 80s, Helloween - Ride the Sky
One of their best, I'm nearly 60 and I still play this at full blast as I'm cruisin' down the highway...
57 and same here! ;-)
Bro! You have been formally introduced to Jon Lord, one of the best keyboardists in rock history. DP is necessary curriculum for your rock education! Keep it up!
React to Deep Purple - Smoke On The Water
Yes
Rammstein- Sonne
Siente lo mismo q senti yo al escuchar por primera vez ese punteo de Richie Blackmore ....Amor a primera oida....Deep Purple Rules ever
Space Trucking, Lazy, Smoke On the Water are just a few more fantastic songs from Deep Purple! Awesome band!
Bury Tomorrow- Black flame
Parkway Drive - Wishing Wells
Patrick Bateman wishing well and void are my favorite off the latest album
Periphery, Rage against the machine, dream theater
Ritchie Blackmore hands down is the most underrated guitar player in history of music No Doubt
underrated?!? are you nuts? blackmore is a guitar god!
@David Topchiev
I agree 100% no one better
@David Topchiev I love you brother!!!
I agree, my theory is that while he was one of the greatest of all he was apparently, personally an absolute cock and unfortunately being known as probably the biggest fuckwit in rock music history seems to have overshadowed his contribution. This is all very well documented and quite sad, he burnt so many bridges with his narcissistic behavior that he sometimes seems to have been erased from many hall of fame type things. Nothing to do with his playing which was phenomenal. Monster player, massive tit.
@@blockhousebay2 Yeah, it almost a tragic story. Blackmore has always something else, but damn... It sucks he burned so many bridges. Imagining what we would've experienced if he and Dio sticked together... Man, that would've been the purest form of magic.
Luckily he and his wife still make good music with Blackmore's Night, otherwise we could visit his glory days
One of my top favorite classic rock songs of all time.
Back to the roots! I’m glad you reacted to this one.✌️bruh!
Such a "blasting down the highway with the top down" song. Awesome.
Great for cardio, too! 😌
welcome to classic hard rock! :-D
*Classic Heavy Metal
@@bobthebear1246 Deep Purple is Hard Rock. They are 70s classic rock
Masters of hard rock baby
Ritchie my man melting faces 50 years on ❤️
WINTERSUN - THE SONS OF WINTER AND STARS
(Live rehearsal @ Sonic Pump Studios)
It is a 14 minutes metal masterpiece which not even the greatest gods of metal could have done better.
It's like a journey through the fibres of greatness.
After listening to this song everything else felt meaningless.
Another masterpiece from deep purple...Child in time. Just an epic rock opera song
As an 8th birthday present for my son, I took him to see Deep Purple, he’s 31 now and still talks about it 😁👍
and thats where entire metal genre took its inspiration, kids
Michal Ďubašák mm.nah
Michal Ďubašák Also Hard Lovin Man by DP.
CHILD IN TIME
metallica - orion please
My brothers band covers this song perfectly. Their age group ranges from 14-18 years old. It’s incredible how well they play this song.
John Lord (RIP) on the keys was amazing. I saw them live back in 1984. And they were flawless.
Danzig- Mother
That would be fantastic.
Yes
The Misfits - Hybrid Moments would also be dope!
... tell your children not to walk my way!
Obitvary yes! Let's keep commenting that one maybe one day it'll catch on!
If you're ever going to react to Child in Time, react to a live version. The studio version is fine, but live it's way better
And that killer Ian Gillan scream right at the beginning. His trademark.
And that insane keyboard solo was the late great Jon Lord.
Jon Lord was one of the major reasons I fell in love with the sound of the Hammond B-3 and Hammond C-3 organs.
And then Ritchie Blackmore just KILLS the guitar solo on his trademark Fender Stratocaster.
The versions on Made In Japan are even more ruthless and brutal.
(One of the best quotes EVER on any live album, you hear various people talking between songs, and at one point, someone mumbles something to which Ian Gillan says "Yeah. Can we have everything louder than everything else?" and THAT album was where that quote originated, way back in 1972 on Made In Japan.)
And Highway Star is lyrically about Ian Gillan's car, but also his girl, and also his head or his mind.
No one can take any of those away from him because they're ALL the best for him.
He has the baddest car.
No one's taking that away.
He has the hottest girl.
No one's gonna steal her away.
He has the most intense mind.
No one's going to steal his mind, either.
(And he mentions having "speed inside my brain", which refers to the car, yes, because adrenaline junkies have that need for speed, but also because they did a lot of speed back in those days, too, and references to speed, or amphetamines, showed up elsewhere in other lyrics Ian wrote.)
But, that's how I've always heard it.
Could just be about the car, too, not saying you're wrong, dude.
Anyway. I highly recommend the STUDIO versions of the songs "Burn" AND "Stormbringer" also by Deep Purple but featuring David Coverdale (later of Whitesnake) on lead vocals and Glenn Hughes (formerly of Trapeze) on bass and co-lead vocals.
(Glenn is the tenor vocal while David is the baritone/bass vocal.
Vocally, Glenn was always heavily into Stevie Wonder.
Vocally, David loved the old growly voiced gut bucket blues singers.)
In any case, Alex, have a dope ass day yourself, dude.
I enjoy your reaction videos a lot. You just seem like cool people.
It would be fun to just hang out and bullshit with you some time. :-)
Of course I'd love one of those cool t-shirts but my guess is you don't have any in 5XL or 6XL...could make a 4XL work...
(And I'm sure those cool Bluetooth headphones you were giving away briefly are all already long gone by now, too...)
Everytime I hear Blackmore's solo ..I'm like DAMN DUDE!!!!!!
Old school stuff today Alex! But a timeless classic! Hoping to see some more Machine Head on the reaction roster soon 🤘
Brandon Bartlett HALO
Steve Vai - For The Love Of God
Why not: "Sex and religion"? one of my favourites.
During the solo, I can see a car come around a corner sideways, tires spinning, smoking, and as the solo, takes off, I see this person slamming through the gears, speed increasing, shit eating grin, music up as loud as it will go, pure adrenaline rush...
Great song, makes me want to drive fast.
Love your videos
Your face during the guitar solo was priceless. That's just how Ritchie Blackmore rolls.
Smashing Pumpkins - Bullet with Butterfly wings! You will love it!
You have just been introduced to Jon Lord, the god of the Hammond organ. Also, a member of this band, David Coverdale, went on to form the band Whitesnake.
This was the 70's "Street Rodder" anthem. Incredible fpr you to hear for the first time but much more incredible to have lived it! This song used to blast on an 8 track down loooong stretches of highway at massive speeds. You just don't know what you missed!!!
Deep Purple one of the all time greats!
I'm having a dope ass day bro!! Glad to see you do some more classic rock with Deep Purple...check out "Smoke On The Water" bro...bad ass song!! Hope that you, Sarah, and Ozzy are doing great!
BTW IMO, The bassist always just goes off on their songs....I just love it! And the keyboards were very innovative and integral for their sound as well...
Definitely would love to see ya get to that Disturbed request- "The Vengeful One"- you'll like the video too!! Peace bro!
Greg Potter love smoke on the water
First time hearing "Smoke on the water" kappa
Manowar-Sign of the hammer
Iron Maiden-Fear of the dark
Def Leppard-Hysteria
AC⚡️DC-Hells Bells
That second solo is one of the best and cleanest sold I've ever heard!
"Highway Star" is among the all-time Top 5 songs of Deep Purple.
First comment. You should listen to Rainbow in the dark by Dio.
Love this song so much. DIO is the godfather of Hard Rock and Heavy Metal.
Ir The Batman also The last in line
Dude. I was 10 years old in 1970. I remember Deep Purple. Black Sabbath. This and that. There was nothing to compute. It was a new kind of sound. Literally, I remember "heavy rock" from when it was just getting started. We can only speculate about how many millions of enthusiastic followers of hard rock and heavy metal there are in today's world. Now there are all kinds of genres that embrace the edgy, persistent riffing and the fast paced beat. In fact, I don't think I'm exaggurating when I say that within the genre of modern metal you will now find the most brilliant musicians ... the ones that would seek towards free form jazz in the old days. Check out some of the "extreme" stuff. Gojira. Meshuggah. Mayhem. There are many. They are very talented.
And I assume you followed the big four till today, right? It must be an amazing feeling to live through the rise of modern rock and be alive at a time when your childhood music is called "classic".
Tell me: how was this sound treated? Was it treated with the same respect that we have for Deep Purple today, or was it treated with the same humour we have for today's hip hop?
I was 13 when I heard Made in Japan. Child in Time blew my mind and changed my outlook on music and made me a lifetime Purple fan.
Hell no. Deep Purp were considered gods of progressive rock back in the 70's. You have to understand our wheels back then to really get this tune. Today, your random HS kid doesn't tool around in something like my old '72 Dodge Challenger but back then...
I was nine :)
Same age here and while passing papers in '71 heard Child in time playing at a house of college students on my route. I remember to this day almost being paralyzed and standing on porch smelling pot and stunned by this song. Two weeks later I snuck down to Polk Bros a local store in Joliet Il where I grew up and bought Black Sabbath Black Sabbath and Deep Purple IN ROCK .MY PARENTS TRIED TO MAKE ME RETURN THEM BUT COULDN'T BECAUSE THEY WERE OPEN.And so began my journey from their Sha na na shit into teen age angst
3:43 That was MY reaction too, after hearing this again after so many years!!!!! That song is ROCKING!!!!!!!!!
Hi Alex! Fun fact: Ritchie Blackmore is the same guitarist for Rainbow - Stargazer. He formed Rainbow after he left Deep Purple.
Deep Purple: Child in Time, OR April
Please react to led zeppelin dazed and confused
dan jepsen led zeppelin was an amazing and iconic band BUT great white sounds more like led zeppelin than zeppelin did. For real you should look them up, they did a tribute album that if you didn't know it would swear it's the origional.
SogySeal bruh greta van fleet
SogySeal I love Great White - great voice , great guitar playing , everything is just great about that band. Their Led Zeppelin cover album is awesome.
The best woman/car metaphorical song ever! Deep Purple Mark II were they absolute BEST! I still listen to their recordings. Just timeless. 🤩
Deep Purple has ALWAYS been one of my faves. They also do a very VERY awesome song from the same album. Smoke on the Water. LOVE THIS SONG!!!!
Alex my boi back again with another reaction video!!!
Speaking of Dazed And Confused, you should check out....Dazed And Confused :D A great song by Led Zeppelin, another band that was a big inspiration for metal.
BBC Sessions is the best version..... 20 minutes of where did the world go...
Ian Paice's drum fills,chills....down...the ....spine.
These reaction videos are so fun. Watching a young 'un hearing the music I grew up with back in the day gives me a whole new appreciation for music I've known for over 40 years. The facial expressions of someone hearing this for the first time is awesome. Thanks so much.
Man in the Box - Alice in Chains
And this, my little hip hop guy, is what classic ROCK is about!
I've seen a couple of your videos now. Keep them coming. You have a great sense of humour and personality.
All i could think was "wait till the second solo" and your reaction was what was expected bro. Blackmore is guitar god
A Perfect Circle - Judith
Live version is so good.
John Lord is an absolute monster on the organ ,piano , keyboards and synth , even better live than Jan Hammer , George Duke was the only musician i saw live who plays better and puts on a better show than John Lord , i saw DP twice in the 70s and once in the 80s .
Keith Emerson from ELP, was equally amazing.
So ive been following you recently and what i really like is how you can really appreciate music. This is the perfect example, you were able to identify true Heavy Metal roots
Great song!! My earliest memory of Deep Purple was in college -- this older 42 yr old, hippie stoner student gave me a bootleg tape of their stuff and I was hooked. It was also used in an old episode of "That 70's Show" when Kelso and Hyde are rocking out to it in the car
React to Death - Crystal Mountain and Type O Negative - love you to death
Brendan I couldn't agree more with Type O Negative I love that band
Smoke on the water. Nuff said.
My dad used this song as my lullaby every night :) still lovin it :)
I've been listening this song for more than 40 years and *NEVER GET TIRED!*
System of a a Down - Psycho (Live)
Metallica - Disposable Heroes

The master of covers
MrChumpus Unexpected covers are awesome, I didn't think Gangsters Paradise could be metal, I was WRONG.
On Deep Purple-Highway Star, the look on your mug when the second half of his guitar solo cracked me up. I grew up listening to these guys and funny to realize that it’s been so damned long ago and there’s so many people that haven’t heard this band. You should binge thru their body of music.
You do a dope ass awesome job. Thanks!! It's nice to come home after work and watch your videos!✌🎶✌😎
