Yeah Rick, I'm sorry that you teach English too. I don't care if you're an English prof at Oxford it's the same spelling and sound when spoken as a rhyming couplet. So get the fuck over it, Ozzy rhymed masses and masses. Nobody said they had the same definition. That's pedantry mixed with sophistry pal. NachoFast said it was a rhyming issue, not a definition issue. Step away from the straw man.
I actually believe Johnny Cash was the original metal. Distort the guitars and speed it up slightly and it's metal af. He's a man dresses in black singing about drugs and violence with triplets and solos throughout. His voice was low like in metal. He just had only country to base it off of so it has that vibe and classification. Johnny Cash is where metal began. Sabbath created a conflagration from the spark. That's what I believe anyways. Ozzy is in his own league though.
@@burningstar1793 Wrong, Johny Cash was actually a mix of country and blues, but had some rock combined too . (Or at least some beta version) Rock's roots actually go far as back as the 40's, 30's, and even the 20's ! Dude, watch the video of the band actually playing their music. You need to see Bill kill the drums and how come nobody points out the bassist!!! Geezer is phenomenal ❤️ and yes this is metal baybayyyyy
I am telling you- I saw Black Sabbath reunited in 2001 on the OzzFest, and had NO clue what Geezer what really about, until I saw him play live!! Holy shit!!
This is example #1 of just how much of a master of the guitar riff that Tony Iommi is. Go back and pay attention to the bass and you'll realize just how SICK Geezer Butler is at his craft. You mentioned it, Bill Ward, a beast on the drums. Hell of a combination, especially when you add Ozzy's vocal delivery. But def give props to Geezer, in my opinion, the best bassist in metal.
Thrasterpiece Without Geezer, there probably would not be a Cliff Burton. He set the table for what a metal bassist is supposed to sound like. No question though, Cliff is among the best, but it's hard for me to put the student ahead of the teacher.
Fun fact about Sabbath: The US blasted rock music like Sabbath in Panama under Manuel Noriega. Noriega was an opera lover so this was obviously irritating him and after 10 or so days he gave up to the US.
Not the first ones to do that. In Afghanistan, they used to blast Motorhead from the tanks to scare talibans. I'm pretty sure Lemmy would have hated it too.
@@mdwb7024 I wouldn't even go that far, you know there's that whole trumpets at the walls of Jericho thing. In fact I'd wager that the tactic is as old as war itself.

on the last day of work as they had just been signed, he had to relearn and use tape around the tops of those fingers to this day. if you search out an interview on it he was like fuck get signed then never be able to play again fuck that!
He tuned his guitar way down to stop the pressure on his fingers, which created the deep roar later called metal by those listening. He melted and custom fit plastic bottles over his fingertips to ease the pain as well. Even used banjo strings at times to ease it.

@@bearculb7717 The best part about Tony Iommi missing two fingers is that it happened on his last day working at the sheet metal factory where he worked before the band began to tour professionally.
I heard that in an interview he did. He was going to skip going back after lunch and his mom said he needed to finish what he started or something like that so he went back to finish his shift.
My favorite Black Sabbath song. Saw them for the first time when I was 14 and now I'm 63. Amazing 50 year old message that's still relevant and true today. You get it--great reaction Alex!
Before Hendrix released it, Dylan heard him play AAtW live in New York. The first thing he said afterwards was "it's his song now." But yeah, every time I hear War Pigs, I'm struck by how similar the instrumentals are to Jimi Hendrix' style. Sabbath distinguished themselves with lyrics, and basically developed Metal as we know it along the way, but instrumentally they started out sounding a *lot* like the Jimi Hendrix Experience.
El Bruce Yeah, I don't think Dylan played it for around 25years after that. Not that he was bitter, more of what you said, a kinda, 'Well clearly must have written this for Jimi.'
Pretty much in the modern history of music, there are only two perfect examples of a creator happily gifting a song to a cover artist based solely on recognition of their talent with that song: 1) Dylan handing "Watchtower" over to Jimi, and 2) Trent Reznor handing "Hurt" over to Johnny Cash.
Just the intro is foreboding, I was 12 when this came out, album centre was a spinout, great teenager music. I was so lucky, Pink Floyd, Sabbath, Zepplin, Bowie and the list goes on and on, golden age of music. The UK is responsible for so much great music

Boy this song brings back memories. This is one of the songs that really got me into metal along with fear of the dark by iron maiden. The instrumental in this song is so unique and random, it's what I really love about the song. Also the lyrics are very powerful. Great song.

You get so used to a song being a "metal classic" (which this certainly is) that you don't realise that it actually does have some very funky parts, and exceptionally jazzy drumming. Not just wall-to-wall metal. Iommi's guitar parts sound like the end of the world though. Amazing.
Was 8 yrs old when this album came out and heard it from one of my friend's brother. Saved my chore money for months to make it the first record I bought (lotta saving since ten cents a week wasn't a lot, even then!). Remains one of the most cherished records I own and am so happy to see that it still resonates strongly with "the new generations." A masterpiece.

The whole Paranoid Album is all the phases of a Vietnam soldier returning to unthankfull usa suffering PTSD. Black Sabbath wanted it ( the Album ) to be named Warpigs, but The Record Compny deceided to name it Paranoid, because usa was still heavily involved in the Vietnam war, which Black Sabbath was against.
Blode Kont uh no, Fairies Wear Boots is about some people messing with Sabbath and those people wore boots so it was just a way to mess with them, Paranoid was made in less than a half hour, and Planet Caravan is about a spaceship travelling through the universe, thats just off the top of my head
But paranoid was originally a love song, well Ozzy talking about a girl he loved and wanted to be with. War Pigs was originally about witches and black magic. Planet Caravan was originally about an evening with a girl in an open field looking up at the stars.

I listen to this song every day. First song I ever learned on guitar. Each time I listen to it, I focus on something different. One day the drums, one day the bass, one day the guitar, one day the vocals, one day the meaning. It's just a masterpiece
Fit For An Autopsy - Black Mammoth
Deathcore done right! Incredible song with a big message! Highly recommend checking it out just because of the message!
Animals As Leaders - The Brain Dance
It’s a 3 man instrumental band, they’re all absolute fantastic musicians! The song is beautiful, would recommend the 7 min version.
War Pigs is a very old song... I believe it's from 1971.
So it sounds different because it's Black Sabbath...the originals of heavy metal! 🤘
Scott Laboch Sr not to be picky but its 1970 from album Paranoid
Tracy Rose 😂😂😂 its cool Tracy, thanks for the correction! 👍🤘😊
I knew it was either '70-'71.
Old maybe, bad, not even close.
1970
The final solo is the most overlooked guitar solos of all time music.
A masterpiece... touchy tune that can bring tears to the eyes..
Hefner's gather in their masses, just for reactions done by Alex.
"hefnerds" ;)
Deftones - Change (In the house of flies). Get it brah!
I used to listen to this on (gulp) 8-track in my 67 Mustang GT fastback circa 1971-72
The Four Horsemen - Metallica
This!!!
Ya gotta check out "Rooster" by Alice in Chains, it's a great tune bro!
Cheshorcat Beats yes
Yes yes, please! If he was impressed by Man in the Box then Rooster will blow his mind.
love bill wards drumming in this
Rooster by Alice In Chains
Boy this song brings back memories. This is one of the songs that really got me into metal along with fear of the dark by iron maiden. The instrumental in this song is so unique and random, it's what I really love about the song. Also the lyrics are very powerful. Great song.
for me the laid back drumming is what pulls this whole track together, obviously everythig else is important too
I'm from India I never comment because even if I win a dope ass T's I don't want you to face any problems with shipping, anyway love you Alex your videos are great
You're winning now
Im from india to braahh
You get so used to a song being a "metal classic" (which this certainly is) that you don't realise that it actually does have some very funky parts, and exceptionally jazzy drumming. Not just wall-to-wall metal. Iommi's guitar parts sound like the end of the world though. Amazing.
Yeah man these guys created the formula for metal but it was ultimately inspired by various different genres to create one new genre, classy asf
Pantera - Cowboys From Hell
This is the original Heavy Metal Song. BLACK SABBATH invented the genre.
This is one of those songs (and bands) that really inspired me to pick up the guitar and expand my musical experience. Such an amazing song! I’m very happy to see you experiencing the forefathers of metal! It reminds me a lot of myself when I was first listening to hard rock and metal bands! Love the vids, Alex. Keep em coming!
P.S. Please react to some damn Erra already bruh! Do either Drift, The Hypnotist, or Hybrid Earth. Been waiting for it forever!
Hell yeah🤘🤘🤘
Erra is awesome! Don't like the clean vocals tho, bust still listen to them frequemtly
I learned to play listening to this album. Literally. You can hear the Tony Iommi in my playing even today.
Such a great song, I feel that Metal, more than a lot of other styles of music does such a good job about actually covering important topics and telling a story.
If you are looking for another classic metal experiance a definate must listen to imo is King Diamond. I'm also waiting on a Pink Floyd reaction.
Keep it up dude, you got the best reactions on the internet.
When I saw this I was like YAAAASSSS. I grew up with this band and this song. Dude I'm a second generation metal head.
Highway star by Deep Purple! Please!
Bloody oath!!
capoocha made in japan
My dad used to play that in his charger during drag races lol
Alex will lose his mind!
Child in Time by Deep Purple and then thank me later
Yup this is one of my favorite songs from them. Ozzys voice is so good
May Rose u should check out Sahg, freekishly similar voice
i was 11 years old when i was introduced to sabbath, never looked back , Toni actually cut his speaker in his amp to get that grunge distortion that wasnt around yet. this band for sure paved the way to the heavy metal we hear today,
btw: this is only a 3 piece band, so yeah, their music jsut made sense.
Megadeth - Tornado of souls
Btw, this is my favorite Black Sabbath song, however I have not heard their entire discography, which is a shame... thanks for the video. So happy to see how much u enjoyed it.
Mitchell Cambron In my opinion, even though I love the Ozzy and Dio era albums of Black Sabbath, the others are pretty underrated.
song still completely relevant. US military spending still insanely high - trillions of dollars spent bombing a 3rd world desert. Military lobby the largest lobby group in the US, and so the war machine keeps churning.
Bro if you want another modern hitting ozzy song check out killer of giants
Exactly. All those death merchants! Not only USA , also france, china mainland, russia, Brittain, german....check out Vice's coverage of Lebanon annual Weapon Expo ...oh sorry "Defense " expo 😡
War Pigs! If half those fund to create those weapons used in cancer research, Space or Forest coservations!!!
AIPAC is the biggest lobby group in the U.S. The real war pigs..
Black Sabbath - Behind the wall of sleep. That song is very bluesy and groovy, you are going to love it!!
Blind Guardian - Valhalla Live, it's just incredible
Fathers of Heavy Metal Paranoid is by far, my favorite Black Sabbath album.
GODS of metal
React to black sabbath- NIB
Wrong video. You should react to Black Sabbath - War Pig live in Paris (1970). That was badass.
One of the Greatest Sabbath songs ever, you always have to listen when it comes on great long jam tune
Black Sabbath - Heaven and Hell
Blind Guardian - Valhalla and The Bards song live at Wacken
Grew up on this- Classic genius
Seen them perform this at their last ever concert, the whole venue was screaming along to that riff at 10:14, never had so many goosebumps in my life
Hell yeah
lolyeah One of the greatest guitar riffs in the history of music.
Robert D'Amico definitely!
i have some suggestions:
Eric Johnson - Cliffs of Dover (live version)
Led Zeppelin - Achilles Last Stand
Iron Maiden - Afraid to shoot strangers
Pink Floyd - Comfortably Numb, Echoes...
Lazar Ristic Nice taste.
Jorge Pereyra thanks bro
The whole Paranoid Album is all the phases of a Vietnam soldier returning to unthankfull usa suffering PTSD. Black Sabbath wanted it ( the Album ) to be named Warpigs, but The Record Compny deceided to name it Paranoid, because usa was still heavily involved in the Vietnam war, which Black Sabbath was against.
Of course they were against the war, americans started it and at that time it was the best thing to critisize
As well, the record company changed the name while leaving the war pigs artwork as the cover.
@@slycordinator Paranoid was only written to fill the album. It was written in almost under 20 minutes.
I love this channel so much
This is a great one!! Next do Angel of Death by Slayer!!
"When the rich wage war, it's the poor who die"
A lyric from Linkin Park's "Hands Held High"
Bro got that backwards black Sabbath did it first.
@@alesiabradley5399 technically it is a quote from Sartre
dont want to open a can o worms with the Ozzy vs Dio thing...but "The Mob Rules" is crazy...one of my fav "Dio" sabbath tracks ...peace
A masterpiece. Iommi made something so heavy it influenced a generation.
I get to relive a sing for the first time through you now. Great edits and your doing a dope ass job!
Sonne live by Rammstein pleaseee and then more of the raming Stones ...flat
Btw grrrreat Video , been waiting for this 💪 You saved my day and not for the First time
Cradle of Filth-Her Ghost In The Fog
I saw Black Sabbath in Calgary for The End tour. When they played this song Ozzy sang a line then pointed the mic at the crowd and i swear everyone in the Saddledome sang the next line almost perfectly. It gives me goosebumps every time i think about it.
Gojira - Gift of Guilt Live in Brixton academy. pls do it. It's epic af and we deserve it 🔥🔥
Love seeing your reactions! I definitely recommend that you check out "Between the Buried and Me". I would suggest either watching their live playing of "Prequel to the Sequel" from their album "Colors" or perhaps the songs "Mordecai" or "Selkies". Keep it up man!
