Another great and informative podcast guys. I'm going to be replacing all my gas powered tools with battery powered ones, so I take notes. On an earlier topic, go camping. You just haven't lived until you take a two week tent camping trip with a two year old and a four year old. It doesn't get any better than that ( I'm kidding, it was grueling, and I needed several recuperation days when we got home.) Again, thanks for the podcast.

I've always wondered what that bar on my ego multitool was for. Thanks for clarifying.
It just unnecessarily gets in the way

Victa corvette battery mowers have dual swing back blades should review them too.

the 500s battery is hardcore. it has credit card like cells so its way more resistant to drops, dust, water. Its aimed at commercial use and it is there to service all the new products that stihl will release in future. Their new msa300 chainsaw needs this battery to go at its highest power. The battery has double the charge cycles as well compared to a ap300. There's a lot more to it

The USA version of the XGT 40v mower does have a rubber rear flap.
I run auto most of the time as the mower is great at ramping up when needed. A decent compromise. Max RPM mode lifts better and I use it when i'm not concerned with runtime. I don't use the silent modes.
Realistically, you would need six 8ah batteries for all day running if you can charge on the job. Two 8ah batteries give you about 50 minutes runtime. Charge time is 1hr 15mn.
It would be great if Makita sent you out a 64v mower to test out. I like the idea and battery form factor, but. Its a slow charging system just like the PD1200/PD1500 backpack battery. The current 40v XGT supports fast charging.
Spent 4 house today at grandfather's house. Go there every Saturday for the last month. Mum and her sister help Grandfather sought out inside. I do all the yardwork by myself. Spent nearly four hours with XGT power head with whipper snipper attachment. Tonnes of Kikuyu overgrowth climbing fence. Plenty of power to cut through it.

EGO tools were some of the first that people could take seriously and use professionally (with a few spare batteries and a fast charger), or in larger domestic situations. The range is improving and new models are always welcome, but it would be nice to see some of the other things they have in their range being available in Australia - the pressure washer as one example... local tool shops don't seem to stock a complete range at the best of times... It would also be nice if they could differentiate their commercial range in some way - maybe with some different colour plastic bits or other details...

@@turfandtools Then it's time to talk to the Product Managers / Sales / Marketing team from EGO Tim... you are an influencer now (which is why you get the gear to review)... so Influence them... LOL

Just got the pressure washer myself last week but the weather has been crap to drag hoses out to use it. Tech made easy has a review out on it but probably Thursday I'll get my out and hose off my deck and wash car.

@@turfandtools You're a humble man, and it is a term that has a lot of bad connotations... so sorry... but you are the leader of the Turf & Tools Army, you are our champion... We are not quite at the 'Tim for PM' stage 😉, but people do listen to what you have to say, because they respect your honesty and straightforward nature... If companies saw AU a great 'test market' to introduce new products before taking them to the world at a much larger scale, we would be a great resource for them...

I found that the new multi tool is 1.6kw and the old is 1.1kw. I brought a old one discounted with the big kit including rotary scissors.

If making the switch to battery powered tools, I'd like to switch to 1 brand to not have a too many batteries and chargers. Any recommendation on a good and reliable brand to just stick with? Makita, AEG, Milwaukee?

@turfandtools how do you compare the multi tool trimmer against the new stx4500?

    • @turfandtools
      @turfandtools  8 місяців тому +1

One is is for home users and one is for commercial users so the STX is more powerful and has longer line.

Not so much a fan of product marketing style content that just enumerates features. Manufacturers already do this.
I appreciate real world evaluations. As for the wave of cordless outdoor power equipment, actual performance including battery life is something every potential buyer will want to know.
    Cheers

I make many videos showing the equipment in use. This is a podcast, it’s a new bit of equipment so obviously we are going to discuss its features.
