“Gently put it in, just the tip” great advice bud
Thanks a bunch Tim.
Now I have 5 kids
"Sometimes there's thicker bits you need to sit on for a bit"
Love the pup, is she an Italian or British whippet
That’s the ultimate “edging”
I'd have to say, this is the best trimmer tutorial on all of UA-cam. Thanks!
Glad you think so!
I agree!
I agree!
I also agree!
Agreed. Saved me time and thank you for that.
I've been struggling with winding the line for years. This is a life saver!
This is the best guide and video to line trimming on the internet! Two things that always elude me is how to reload those spools and how to bump out extra line. Thanks!
Hopefully this helps some of you!
Lol, this will never help me do edging-with-the-weed-whacker! But your vids are magnificent!! Your sense of humor is sp!
Are you dumb
Loved Maggie getting the zoomies. She just wants to be close to her dad. Great tips Tim ❤️🐾🖖
Check out her channel @maggiewalks
Finally, I've found someone who can explain how to edge properly with great advice. Thank you!
Beautiful dog!! You can tell she's loves being a prop in the video!
Thanks for the tutorial!
i admire your restraint in letting the edges grow over lol
I bet that overgrowth was driving you batty until you could do this video! Thank you! As a 70 yo 1st time home owner, I struggled the past few years trying to figure this out. I have watched you lawn fellas and learned a lot, but this was the 'icing on the cake'! I look forward to using your tips this spring!
Good luck!
Awesome tutorial, never knew how to load the string nor properly edge my yard correctly. Now feel confident that I can do both. Thanks so much!😊
Thank you so very much. Your tutorials are easy to follow. I am a recently widowed 60+ and my dear late husbands stihl petrol tools were to heavy. So I have started purchasing battery powered RYOBI tools to carry on maintaining our lovely yard he created. I am loving it. Honouring him.🙂
I'm in the same position and I'm also replacing all the petrol tools with Ryobi battery powered tools that I can actually manage. This is the best tutorial to explain whipper snippering I've seen. Looking forward to trying all the tips so I might actually be able to do it.
Love the dog!
FINALLY!! I've been looking for a video on this for years. For decades I've had trouble with the upside down edge trimming breaking off the line inside the head - finally a decent explanation what's happening. Thanks so much for the advice, I can't wait to try this weekend! Best line trimming video on YT!
Special appearance from "Santas Little helper"
Thanks. I learned I could use my whipper Snipper upside down to do edges.
I’ve spent many hours looking for someone who could explain how to use the machine, how it functions, and the way to make the edge look beautiful. Thank you!
idk why, but the backwards ballet is what fascinated me with this youtube genre to begin with: blademate! then tim! i think it's especially satisfying when sped up
Love you man for this....thanks alot I live in jamaica 🇯🇲 and decided to go in this business as a part time job , because my security work is not paying me enough money to take care of my family..and I learn alot .I am confident know to start my new side job..thank you so much..love you man
Brilliant tutorials, expertly filmed and presented with loads of tips and advice. Please could I get Maggie's autograph? What a show stopper!!!! Talk about a Happy Pup, well looked after and loved. Not to mention all the love she gives. Thanks for the great clips. Gary, Biggleswade, UK.
Omg. Thank you so much. I can’t believe how many videos I have watched on weed eaters and I finally learned the easiest way to string my POS trimmer. I ruined my extension cord today, so will have to try it out as soon as I go and replace it. Considering just getting a battery operated one at this point.
This was an awesome tutorial that I have seen for trimmers. Thank you very much!
Thanks Tim! Now I feel more confident to trim in my daughter's garden.
"Gently put in in there, just the tip." That's what she said. 😂
Wow , fantastic video! I’ve learned so much from this! Thank you so very much for taking the time to do this ❤️
Your lifesaver I was struggling with the line now I know what I was doing wrong lol thank you
I’ve watched your lawn care channel for awhile love your edging techniques and the crisp edges. And now the tool Chanel is great.
Thank you keep up the great work!!
Thanks Tim that will help me a lot as I have the same whipper snipper, so thanks for the advice and keep doing great work for ur community and people in need, your a life saver in yard maintenance
Aha!! Just try to only use the tip of the string…that is exactly what I needed to hear and exactly why I've always had problems. THANK YOU Tim. That little Maggie is SO adorable & she sure loves her daddy!
I have the 20 volt Ryobi trimmer and now I know how to replace the string without taking it apart. Thank you for all your tips. It is great information and I love watching you work. Next you need to video: tips on edger's so I can see what I'm doing wrong there LOL. Thanks again.
Very helpful and informative. I had trouble threading the line and also never knew that the edger can be used vertical like that. Now my edges look great!
Real practical advice and tutorial guide. Best one I've seen for the whipper snipper. You sir have earnt a subscriber.
The video I've been looking for. Sage easy to follow advice. Can't wait to trim after this.
Love your work! Loved these tips!!❤😊
Good job mate. I seem to spend half my time re-threading the damn thing every time I use my line trimmer so i really appreciate your tips.
Thank you. I've been struggling to get my edges the way I want them. Now I can havena go at setting them on the weekend 😊
This video was a god send. My line had all snuck into the the cylinder and i had no idea how to get it out. Thanks a lot Tim!
I have just applied what I learned from your video, works magic , great tutorial
Very helpful. Also, Maggie is So Cute!
Great video, subbed.
The little Iggy having a swipe at the trimmer at 7:20 was hilarious.
OMG this is the best tutorial I have seen! Thank you so so much!!!
Tim did you steal the wife's sunglasses?😉 LMAO😂 I love how Maggie wants her camera time too. She is adorable!! Great tips my favorite expert lawn detailer!!❤❤❤👍✌🇺🇸
Best tutorial i have seen on whipper snippering i have never used one before but after watching this tutorial made everything clear and straight forward thanks for sharing 👍 love your videos
I’m glad it helped!
Thanks Tim. That helps me a lot xx
Like @painetdldy I love watching you do your "trimmer two-step". It's hypnotic. I live in a unit under strata so there is no logical reason for me to watch this video, but I did anyway, and got my Tim's two-step fix as bonus 😁
After years of frustration with the old style line trimmers bought the same Ryobi line trimmer as in this video and also the Ryobi lawn edger. Edger had the 4.0mah battery and chargers, trimmer was skin only. Cannot believe after 3/4 hour trimming have not had to touch the line. The old school ones I had here you’d be lucky to get a few feet done before stopping to re feed line. Thanks for your tips about using tip of the line.
Thank you for making this an easy tutorial. I'm in the UK cant afford a gardener atm so bought a McGregor Strimmer going to try this out today. Like you said grass grows back
Thanks Tim, great video. Everyone is an expert until they see your vid ! I'm only 72 but learnt so much. I have a Ryobi trimmer but it's a two-stroke. Love it. I bought it maybe 6 years ago. I finally found out what that circular piece of yellow plastic with the handle that came with it is for ... it's to wind on the bloody plastic line !! Just as well I didn't throw it away ! It was always a pain winding the line before now it will be so much easier. Anway, well done Tim, you now have a new subscriber.
As a guy who constantly(my job) trims grass 15x taller than this(truly overgrown monstrosities that require an industrial/contractor level string trimmer/weed whacker, in a tropical place) I concur with everything said on this video
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! My FIL has that and we had to put it together for him. My co-worker insists that we get one that's gas powered instead of Battery, but I'm not comfortable storing gas at home; neither is my husband. Thank you for explaining how to change out the line - others do it so fast that I don't see it very well. And not all workers are helpful.
Great video mate, just picked up the same Ryobi trimmer the other day really like it, your video really helped me. Appreciate it
Glad I found this. It was very useful.BIG UP!!
Good man, thanks for simple, concise advice 👍👍
Thankyou for this tutorial, so helpful and Maggie is soooo gorgeous!
Excellent explanation mate :) Feeding the line into the Ryobi head was helpful af.
Thanks for the great advice and tips mate.
Some very useful tips and so well presented, thank you
Nice one Tim, helped me figure out what I wasn’t getting right, particularly positioning myself with respect to the head to cop less debris in the face 😂
Just bought this machine, thank you very much
First time using this thing and your video was definitely helpful. Thank you!
Your videos inspired me to be a landscaper, Thanks Tim :)
That’s cool mate.
Thank you, I am going to try your tips, your video is just what I needed.
Great overview thanks. Love the extra helping hand from Maggie
Dogs just love you doing yard work hey. I have to suppress my dog so she doesn't hurt herself because she goes crazy with zoomies 😂 she's almost 9 though and has arthritis so I have to save her from herself
thanks mate, I've just started practising and keen to get better. cheers!!
Hi, I am in my late 60s I had a lot of difficulty using mine, mainly because its has an extension cord. I do agree it requires muscle . My advice to any buyer is watch this channel first and get it right the first time. Well done for the coverage. I am now better equipped to at least thread the spool correctly.
Great video, very instructive, love to see Maggie around you 😊
This was great advice, thanks mate!
Walking backwards was a game changer for me. Look forward to seeing how the longer line works for me. 😊👍
Somebody who knows what they are talking about and well presented, where have you been all my life? Cheers for the advice.
U sir, are a legend. Thanks for the tip!
I didn’t know speed feed heads were a thing, and now I want one. Thanks for the video haha, very informative
Thank you. Love the little dog.
Thanks for the advice, can really use this! i was struggling a lot because my wire was too short 😅
Great work, great tips mate 😊❤
Yes helpful. Thank you.
G'day Maggie & Tim,
WOW! that Ryobi Head Loading design is really good
7:23 Little cobber thought that was bloody brilliant!
Good on you mate! I enjoyed the whippet comic relief too. Whipper-snipper vs Whippet-snipper! 😆
Very helpful!
7:22. Awesome cameo! Go Maggie!
You just made me buy a ryobi whipper snipper that’s battery operated , I have the petrol one but it doesn’t start when I need it to start thanks mate for the great tip love your work
I have also have a Ryobi 2 stroke line trimmer (7-8 years now) and mine always starts easily with 4 to 6 pulls cold.
Once or twice a year it takes about 3 million, that's when I think I should go battery. But my yards far too big regarding battery run time.
excellent tutorial thank you
Best video I found for edging. Thank you
Glad it was helpful!
Need one with the garden bed on the other side of the lawn! 👍🏻
Thank you for this video has helped me
such a great video, thank you!
Legend! Just the tip. Got it!
Thanks for a really detailed video mate.
I’ve downsized properties over the years, and keeping my 2stroke line trimmer serviced etc has become a pain, especially as my mower is 4 stroke, so I’ve got to keep different fuels as well… Will definitely look at the ryobi as a replacement option now. I always keep on top of my edges, so certainly don’t need commercial-type power.
Good stuff, and yes, yes, yes on eye protection, every. single. time!!!
My old 2 stroke needed the carb rebuilding last year, like you my mower is 4 stroke - and moved to an electric chainsaw some years ago when I melted the piston on my 2 stroke - so I thought "f*ck this, I'm going full electric" - after doing some research I decided the 18v Ryobi, same model he uses here, would do for me (I already have a huge pile of Ryobi stuff so just needed the skin) - no regrets, it's a great tool for my property (around 800 sq. meters but mostly taken up with pool and deck - all of which needs edging regularly though) - anyway I would say go for it, it's a very capable and great quality tool for the price.
Rightio! That was awesome. Now I just have to try it. I go through line like crazy, drives me nuts. Hopefully I can get it right.
Great tips! Thank you.
I tried an early Ryobi unit that was eventually recalled (poor & underpowered design for what it was sold as), particularly on our buffalo grass, so over seven years ago I found the AEG 58V line trimmer with a 43cm cutting width which greater with loads of power etc., but it wasn't light & I soon found it a little tiring just for edging grass, so after they brought out the 18v line trimmer (with a 33cm cutting width) I decided to add that to my kit. Even after all these years, I hadn't been fully flipping it for the edges (around rocks etc) & wondered why I didn't get great consistent results until recently when I saw lawn guys working nearby using a flipping hold (including above the shoulder). I decided to try it & surprised myself how much easier, neater & more effective everything was. AEG line trimmers all come with a slimline head now (holds 3.6m) with 2.4mm twisted line.
Thanks for your good & simple demonstration. It just reinforces the ideal way to finish edges.
Another thing I had seen in a grass edge along a path was the neat angled back grass edge & had wondered how they had achieved that. Now I can see how that may have been achieved, flipping & keeping low walking on the grass or high (at the shoulder) on the path.
Thanks Tim. Very helpfull, Still love the foot work. I only have a one line ryobi trimmer , maybe it`s time to upgrade .
Whippet ... whippet good... Thanks for this ...i suck at whipping snipping
Thanks Tim
Great tutorial - recently been worrying about the amount of plastic that ends up in the environment with whipper snippers as the line breaks - especially as mine seems to chew thru line. Is it a case of getting thicker line that doesn’t break so easily or is there a different option that’s better ?
The second pass is for my OCD needs. Love it 😂
Great video Cheers
Awesome, just the video I needed. I'm off to bunnings this weekend to buy myself a whipper snipper. Been putting off this purchase for months.
Glad I could help
Subscribed. Thanks. Look forward to watching all the videos.
Welcome aboard!
Main points for those watching:
Just use the tip, pull it out more then once a month and don’t get your knob caught 😂👌🏻
Love your videos Tim! Thank you ☺️
