This was extremely helpful thank you,if you don't mind I will add some extra tips to fellow door aligners 1. after the door lift the top rear edge of the door moved in to far ,I used the wood block method on the top of the door after I wound the window glass down 2. Lifting the door from underneath with a block of wood and a trolley jack also helped Thanks again for posting
Dude you just helped me fix my jeep Cherokee door. I’ve had to slam the hell out of that thing every time I get in or out. This fix took me no more than 10 seconds. Thanks bro
Thanks for saving me a trip to a body shop, and providing me with the satisfaction of repairing the door on my 03 trailblazer on my own. I'll be keeping my block in the vehicle to fix my pals doors too!
How about showing how the door was before... I don't see what was fixed cuz I haven't seen the problem ! He also says he's fixing a Taurus door when he does a Crown Vic for which we have yet to see a problem with the door !
i cant go back in time ,but i have another video demonstrating the tool, which is about $40 . there is no ajustment on a lot of cars and be careful using a jack you could kink the door , check out that video on the channel there is a whole playlist on door adjustments
My door is hanging up instead of sagging like they normally would. Do you think this would still work the same way? The door latch is about 3/8'' higher then the latch on the frame. I have to push the door down when closing.
My door is hitting the front fender and makes a loud squeak when opened and closed would this work or and other ideas? Seems like it needs to be adjusted judging by the spacing
Tried this on my 2005 Western Star 4900... With 2 hinges! Worked like a charm! Took years to finally figure this out... Was going to take the door off today 🤦♂️
I may have to try this I thought I had a weather strip issue with water getting in when I drive through a car wash I finally noticed my rear door wasnt aligned
Cool door adjustment hack there Caper. Never seen trick that before and it worked like a champ. Now, if I could only find away to my broken tailgate hinge on my F-350. Cheers!
@@thisguysgarage Thanks man, I do appreciate it. I do have a local body guy who could probably fix it on the cheap. I am thinking about purchasing a small Stick/MIG welder and start teaching myself. I've been eyeballing that Harbor Freight Titanium Professional for $499.00 and with all the accessories it'l probably add up to about $1200.00. I think it would be a good investment especially if I can watch some YT vids and teach myself. Again, cool hack on that door hinge adjustment. Kudo's mate!!
I have a Lincoln migpak 180 which I bought at Canadian tire it straddles the home/professional line. a very good machine. I would recommend. it has served me very well. 499 Canadian on sale so about 350 us dollars.
@@thisguysgarage this method works on every door? I have mercedes cargo van and there i s a gap on rear top corner driver side that causes a loud wind noise. Looking forward for your helpful thoughts. TIA
Tried this on my 96 Blazer and it worked great. The door hinges are welded on this model so there isn't an easy way to loosen screws and adjust the hang.
that just bends the sheet metal in the door/a pillar. Why not loosen the hinge on the a pillar and lift the door up? If its too worn put a pin and bushing in it?
most cars made today have no adjustment ,great question. pins and bushings is not a job for everyone ,but this is manageable for most folks . buying time , thanks for the question twintech
Ya, no thanks. F up seal, paint...dents...nah. And if it's loose enuf to slide then it's loose enough to slide back. I aligned my first cars doors in high-school, long before you tube, as a 16yo girl, just by common sense and loosening and tightening bolts.
@@PanzerPlatform doing that will crush your channel. You will loose every subscription linked to those videos. You don't throw away over 100k in views.
This way is a hack and won't last cuz it's actually bending the hardware embedded in the door jam. Do it properly and replace the Teflon door pin sleeves/shims.
Or you can fix it right by loosening the hinge and adjusting it and then tightening it back up. This is a very lazy and potentially damaging way to "fix" (and temporarily at that) a hinge problem.
Thank you a million times and more. Fixed my 2000 mustang door in 30 seconds.
Thanks so much tray , much appreciated
Worked awesome!!!

Absolutely fantastic Kenneth. Thank you for taking the time 👍

And all this time I was using a 2x4 going from the floor board, underneath the door, and prying upwards with the board. Thanks Caper! 😁👍

It worked on my 76 Nova. Thanks!
Glad to hear that. Old school trick.
For an old school hotrod 🤜🤛
Are you serious I’m eager to try on my 80 Camaro
I won't try beding my hinges or damaging the body, I will use the Jack and the ratchet ! Much safer...

Why not adjust the door hinges by loosening the the screws at the top and bottom to adjust the right height like most mechanics do?
99.9 % Most cars made today don't have adjustable hinges. There is no adjustment. Ty for taking the time 👍
Good video caper

My camaro door is like a millimeter off. Come on down to orlando and bring that tool.

great infro.
thanks so much for stopping in kenneth!
If I did this to my c5 door it would crack
I dont get it
it is moving the pivot point on the hinge to lift the door, dont hesitate with any questions

Agree. More likely to have it keep getting out of whack too
