Is anyone else here an addict for Mustie vids?. At this point I don't even think counselling will help, so please ....keep em coming so we don't go into withdrawal so badly. And Thanks for great content.
you sir need to get a t.v show where people come to see you & you repair their machines i could just see it well on today's show mr.so n so brought me a generator & said that he was having problems with his governor so lets see what the problem is shall we. HEY ALL YOU T.V STATIONS THIS MAN NEEDS A T.V SHOW
Simon from the UK here... Well my twin brother all I can say is pure class and a lucky guy. You always go out of your way for us subscribers and it's like we are there beside you. Just Thank you
I'm 70 y.o. and watching your videos make me feel like a kid again working with my Daddy on a lawn mower engine or vehicle. Thanks for great videos and the memories.
Yes. Some people are more fortunate than others, and starts wrenching as a toddler. Intelligence means the capacity one has to adopt knowledge, and how to troubleshoot miscellaneous faulty stuff. Mustie's philosophy is more or less the art of problem solving without any extensive help.
I have to tell you the last couple of days without any videos from you have left me anxiously awaiting ANYTHING NEW😳I’ve watched all the others, some of them twice and then I go to look at some of the other UA-camrs that I am subscribed to and I just can’t get into watching them because none of them compare to your wit and mechanical intelligence your inventive mind and your instruction to a classroom of 60,000 and the way you treat us like we’re standing next to you just GREAT!! KEEP ON MAKIN US WATCH😳😳😳
If you don't have anymore of his videos to watch, check out Taryl fixes all, if you haven't already, his videos are also some of the best on youtube, he does his videos in his lawmower repair shop and they make funny side skits to go along with the video's on many of them.
Discovered your videos a month or so ago and am now hooked. You have inspired me to restore an old ransomes greens mower. Just as soon as I’ve finished the extension and boot room. I’m 66 next week and will never be bored.Keep up the great work. Robin Hill 🇬🇧, married to an American🇺🇸
Man, I LOVE this channel so much!! First video I watched was the Terramite thumb rebuild...love the "scrounge-inuity" of repurposing stuff lying around in "the hoard!" Subbed and have been binge-watching the playlists...so addicting!! Love your "no fear" attitude, the way you talk to the camera as if we are there, and the "Ha!!" moments when something works!! Thanks for so many fun videos, and taking us along on the test drives!!
So sorry the weather wasn't great, but fun watching all of the VW's come in. You almost got birded! Those mama birds get mad if their babies are threatened! I loved the ride on the seashore.
Thank you for giving an explanation as you think about how you are going to troubleshoot a problem. You talking about what to do next is like watching a training video on generator repairs. This generator had one of the more complicated fuel delivery systems than I had seen in any of your other videos.
Awesome repair, i love working on these generators, found one in the dumpster ,brought it to my garage fixed it up and its been beautiful ever since .. Great for camping or to run your fridge in a power outage .. Thanks for bringing us along for the repair !
Cheaply made generators are a common thing these days just like most things, once it breaks, just replace it instead of fixing the problem. I fix the problems any equipment I've got instead of buying another, just cost effective if repair it than replacing it. Great video!
Every now and then I find a Mustie1 video I missed, and its so great when its an almost hour long like this one. Time to make some coffee and sit down and enjoy! THX Mustie!
I haven't seen many where they don't run so maybe these should be called "it will run". I played with engines from neighbour's junk piles since I was around eight but eventually an office career meant I stopped to do other things. I am getting into fixing up a few old gas engines and hand tools thanks to watching your channel Mustie. It's like doing an online apprenticeship and has really rekindled my interest in things mechanical.
Wolf Coyote thanks. Funny enough I already suscribe to HTR! I have inherited a number of my Dad's tools which have been in a damp basement. Already planning on making a new handle for an old hatchet head I found and restoring some old tools of his.
Wolf Coyote do you sell any once they are done? A lot of the old tools are in demand because they last so long. Made in China generally can't hold a candle to Made in USA, Great Britain, Germany or a number of the previously respected manufacturing countries. Old tools often fetch a lot more than their modern equivalents here.
Smurphenstein I dont often sell and this winter I had pneumonia so I didn't get much done I end up keeping most of my restored tools and yes modern tools are of low quality
Mustie, I have learned so much from your videos that I have been able to repair my own equipment and help several of my friends stuff as well. I look forward to every vid you make especially small engines. Thank You for my education.
You are gifted! I know its a cycle and to get anything to work, the cycle has to be complete and the challenge is in the skills necessary to chase all the twists and turns of that cycle and having the adequate tooling to get it done
Im so glad that I came across your videos! I found a $20 Coleman Powermate Pulse 1850 generator on Craigslist the other day. Guy said that he had not used it but a few times 4 years ago, went to start it and of course it wouldnt start. So I went and picked it up because I was sure that the carb just needed cleaned. Got it home tore into it. Used some throttle body cleaner and sone small wire to get the jets clean. And viola! I got pretty much a brand new generator for $20! Couldnt have done it without seeing your videos! Ive been watching your videos non stop. Love what you do. Small engine repair scares a lot of people, but now I'm not one of them!
I think you must be the hero of the company's that manufacture those sonic cleaners , they would sell hundreds of those to your viewers/fans..... big thumbs up I love your vids
*Mustie1* I always put any and all responsibility on the back burner to be entertained and educated on small engine repairs. Your quiet yet endearing personality is unique and a breath of fresh air to me as well as the masses. Thank you again for ALL your videos.
I found that same generator in the trash. Mine was a honeywell, but it was the same. I got it running but it would not put out power. The red restart light went on and stayed on immediately, so the inverter or one of the other major components are shot on it. Those are the old ones, when the plug ins were on the side. Its also impossible to find schematics on those units and they don't make parts for them anymore either. I am left with a compact 4 cycle engine, maybe I can sell the engine to someone for some project, or maybe someone out their with that unit that still produces power but needs a good engine could use mine and will buy it. This model was also much harder to work on than most of the new models. This is when they first started making these things around 09-10. Maybe I'll get lucky and find more info on it under the excell name. I'm glad you made a video on this unit now I can back track over it and see if I missed anything, I doubt it tho. Once those inverters or whatever go its pretty much a done deal. .....Unless it is something more simple, but I don't know electronics well and finding a schematic on this is so far been impissible.
So true about not being able to purchase straight gasoline, every year there's always a problem with a small engine this year it was my push mower and weed wacker, excellent work great video
I recently moved to Virginia from NJ. Nonethanol fuel is plentiful here.....90 octane and my yard equipment loves it. I occasionally run it in my truck!! Great stuff!! Nice generator ya got there!! Enjoyed the rainy day car show too!! After working on Volkswagens for 35 years it was nice to see a nice variety of air coolers. Even if a few Vanagon Water Boxers snuck in!! Hahaha!!
Another generator fixed! I like these 'make something work from someone else's junk' videos... Thanks for the V Dub event footage at the end. Fenderless, lowered, grey Beetle was sharp! Big white dog reminded me of Moe... (Holding my hat over my heart..) Thanks, Mustie!
Got it going, without to much pain, and people love those little portables. Some nice 'piston art' and some ideas for the future. What a gathering of VW's! Know before you said you didn't care much for those 'Things' but have to admit that red one is cool, and I really like he did that up, would be a fun project..and neat vehicle when it was done.
I can still smell the gas! We went to a Bugout several years ago at Avilla Indiana in a Dasher we overhauled. It was a daily driver but my son sold it. When we moved we still had several body parts, an engine and transmission. Or plans was to build a VW dragster, rail type. Frame and some other things done but time and funds ran out. Great video and that power plant is well worth the time and money you put into it. Greg.
Just getting into the video but laughing at the contortions to test the pull start. Out of nowhere a foot appears. You are talented! I would have been on the floor!
Great video, so nice to restore something that was thrown out and give it a new lease of life. Damn! Nearly died when that Bird took off, lucky you survived that encounter!
@@TC-gn2by I think it will flow through the filter... maybe it at a slower rate... once its primed initially, should be easier after that... its also helpful that it has a priming bulb...
Oh yeah and when this all junk you get it finally starts and you hear that first couple of poop come out of it I get the same evil little smile on my face that you get! Tampa has non ethanol fuel in a few stations. They display three prices. Red for 87 octane, green for diesel and blue for non ethanol. In Park Rapids, Minnesota, where I have a seasonal lake home, has non ethanol at most stations. I like your channel, I’m a retired ships chief engineer I’ve been a wrench pusher all my life. I find myself talking to you as I watch. I just wish I was there to give you the extra hands often needed. Keep them coming, I like them all...Paul
A little tip when disassembling a carb with an adjustable jet. I count the turns from the current setting to fully closed. That way I can return it to the original setting by backing it off closed that turn count.
That is a cool little generator. It even has a 12v dc output also. I test electrical equipment in remote locations and it would work great for that application.
Love your channel and your common sense approach to getting these cast-a-ways running again. Wish I had a way to harvest the items you do, my town is really small. Best wishes and keep on truckin'.
I just stumbled across this channel, looking up a generator I bought for my sailboat. I have fixed some old little engines but am still pretty novice. Very informative and entertaining, awesome channel. Look forward to watching more, thanks.
Mustie1, Here is how it goes for me. So my iPhone beeps, I look at it and it has a notification that Mustie1 has uploaded another video. I touch it and my UA-cam app opens with your latest video. I see the thumbnail and read the title “ok gonna be another interesting generator back to life video of his” then I look at the video length “ahhh, 55 minutes - oh yeaaaa - this is gonna be a good one”. So I go to the garage, light up a cigarette, pop out the stand of my iPhone case, sit back and relax watching another Mustie1 wrench video. Before it ends, I’ve probably talked to the screen trying to ESP the fact that he forgot this or didn’t see that etc etc. All good and funny. The end segment comes seeing all the cool VW’s and of course Mustie1’s sidekick, Mr. Brian! Now I’ve had my Mustie1 fix for the week! Oh yeaaaaa! Thanks Mustie1.
I found your site on your tube and it habit forming. Is there any thing you can’t fix. The wife think I spend more time watch you than spend watching you videos.
Love your VW KOMBI. Had one in late 60's. Was transition model, 1100c motor rebuilt by ex VW factory mech. Said it was best engine he had ever worked on.
Will you look at that, another long video from Mustie1 and a "will it run?" video at that. It was a WIR video that got me hooked to this channel. Thanks for the video. With your success rate, it'm damn sure that it will run.
Hey Mustie1, Hoard security provided by an attack bird!!!! Good Job with the generator!!! Always hard to get them closed up after someone else opened them....
Great video bro, another little power plant lives again. For me I am working on solar for back up power but I guess there will always be a need for a power generator like that or larger.
Ken Allen these little generators are quite fuel efficient, and put out the small current you want to charge batteries after many days of no sun. They are a good thing to have as a backup to your PRIMARY solar setup. I don't understand why anybody would buy all the equipment they need to be energy independent, then put it all aside as a "backup" system while they rent their energy from others.
I’m still confused as to why people take the time to dislike a video like this...what is it that you dislike? I could care less if he is rebuilding a carb or a nuclear power plant, Mustie has more character and charisma than anyone out there on UA-cam. Good stuff Mustie, good stuff...
Good job as usual getting that scrap yard generator running! It's hard to find Ethanol free gasoline by me here, at the shore areas the marina's carry Ethanol free gas but over an hour away from me. So I have been using premium gas with Stabil (either 360 or the standard red stuff) fuel stabilizer which helps a lot.
That "hold on" and then foot coming out of no where, very Zohan like. 😂
Is anyone else here an addict for Mustie vids?. At this point I don't even think counselling will help, so please ....keep em coming so we don't go into withdrawal so badly. And Thanks for great content.
Totally agree! My wife threatened to leave me if I didn't start paying her more attention!
Yes, his video's are super interesting and I ain't into engines, I'm more of a computer guy.
bub mckenzie It’s probably her carberator.
You got that right!
Agreed. I make sure to watch at least one a day to keep my sanity
you sir need to get a t.v show where people come to see you & you repair their machines i could just see it well on today's show mr.so n so brought me a generator & said that he was having problems with his governor so lets see what the problem is shall we. It takes years for a young man to achieve the tools and wisdom like this.
Yes. Some people are more fortunate than others, and starts wrenching as a toddler.

thats2kewl thanks for sharing no fear cool thanks I Love Your Show so much
I am not a mechanic but have learned a lot watching you're videos. thank you
With all the turmoil 2020 has brought us, Mustie videos have a very calming effect. Thank you Mustie !!
So sorry the weather wasn't great, but fun watching all of the VW's come in. You almost got birded! Those mama birds get mad if their babies are threatened! I loved the ride on the seashore.
you never cease to amaze me... i love these types of videos, it makes me happy watching you revive old trashed engines
Thank you for giving an explanation as you think about how you are going to troubleshoot a problem. You talking about what to do next is like watching a training video on generator repairs. Cool little generator. Thanx for the road trip too! All the Beetles and sculptures were awesome!
Absolutely loved seeing all the old VW's at the end of your video.

I think that bird scared us all! Great job on tracking down and problem solving the generator.
Every now and then I find a Mustie1 video I missed, and its so great when its an almost hour long like this one. Time to make some coffee and sit down and enjoy! THX Mustie!
Was I the only one that gave a cheer when the light bulb lit up? Nice one Mustie, fab video.
My wife is from Rumney /Plymouth, watching makes me want to get back up there and visit

Smurphenstein check out Hand Tool Rescue he restores old tools on here he's a Canadian from Saskatchewan
Wolf Coyote thanks. Funny enough I already suscribe to HTR! I have inherited a number of my Dad's tools which have been in a damp basement. Already planning on making a new handle for an old hatchet head I found and restoring some old tools of his.
Smurphenstein that's good I end up buying tools and engines to play with keeps me out of trouble

The old Wentworth and the new bridge. Your other vids show my old stomping grounds. This one shows my new ones. I always appreciate these clips.

Well done on the generator. I'm starting to remember the tours you take us on! Been there before!! Whole lotta volks folks, and no two the same!!
Really enjoy the "will it run" vids - thanks for sharing
These are my favorite kind of videos where you fix some old junk generator/lawnmower/snowblower.👍
These are always my favorite vids. Thanks for the upload Darren, made my day!!!
Know before you said you didn't care much for those 'Things' but have to admit that red one is cool, and I really like he did that up, would be a fun project..and neat vehicle when it was done.
your videos make me happy.
Nice vid, a repair, canoe habitat, and v-dub meet all in one! Thanks!
Thanks for another Great Vid Mustie1.I appreciate your time and work.
Nice work on that fuel system. A few more Mustie notes for my how to manual. Keep these coming.
Nicely done on the diagnosis and repair! Nice little genny too.
back to the good old days of ‘will it run’ excellent 👍
Thanks for the extra footage at the end. Some lovely VW's there at that 'meet'.....
Awesome; your videos make my day. The VW's were superb! Thank you!
You are really amazing, so much talent, that carburetor would've been in the garbage, all those little pieces, God Bless
Greg.
Thank you for showing us stuff like this
love the length of your videos.. great videos all
Love the generator videos! Thanks!
Your lucky to find a place to pick up these gems.
Just getting into the video but laughing at the contortions to test the pull start. Out of nowhere a foot appears. You are talented! I would have been on the floor!
great video I love to see how you fix these things up!!!
Great video, so nice to restore something that was thrown out and give it a new lease of life. Damn! Nearly died when that Bird took off, lucky you survived that encounter!
The debris in the pulse pump is prime example of why the filters go on the tank side. You should change that around
Typically you can't gravity feed thru a filter, a screen would work thou.
@@TC-gn2by I think it will flow through the filter... maybe it at a slower rate... once its primed initially, should be easier after that... its also helpful that it has a priming bulb...
Great video ...thank you for sharing .
Oh yeah and when this all junk you get it finally starts and you hear that first couple of poop come out of it I get the same evil little smile on my face that you get!
And in my previous comment I mentioned watching all your videos🤔
I have a junk back seven surgeries and found out yesterday there’s a couple three more to go so I get to spend lots of time with my best friend (UA-cam) here on the bed I know that sounds weird but!!
👁 REALLY ENJOY YOUR COMPANY😊 ❤️🇺🇸❤️🇺🇸❤️🇺🇸
Congrats on the victory! Quite the Fahrvergnügen finish too!
Looking good .Like that color green of that bus.
Great Video.. Nice to see all the VW’s....
Great repair Mustie !! 🙌 thanks for the video
Neat trick there for quick cleaning a carb. That’s one I’ll definitely be keeping in my back pocket.
Tampa has non ethanol fuel in a few stations. They display three prices. Red for 87 octane, green for diesel and blue for non ethanol. Another great video, thanks Mustie.
A little tip when disassembling a carb with an adjustable jet. I count the turns from the current setting to fully closed. That way I can return it to the original setting by backing it off closed that turn count.
Great job as always and a cool VW show
Yeah, thanks for taking us along to the meetup
That is a cool little generator. It even has a 12v dc output also. I test electrical equipment in remote locations and it would work great for that application.
You’re an amazing mechanic
Love your channel and your common sense approach to getting these cast-a-ways running again. Wish I had a way to harvest the items you do, my town is really small. Best wishes and keep on truckin'.
Score! That’s a nice generator, good work getting it running.
Just to let you know really enjoy your vids cheers from Australia..
Great job love your videos.
Nice li'l fixer-upper! Some pretty snazzy metal sculptures you found too! Wow, that's a lotta dubs!
Holy cow those Piston figures were so cool!
I just stumbled across this channel, looking up a generator I bought for my sailboat. I have fixed some old little engines but am still pretty novice. Very informative and entertaining, awesome channel. Look forward to watching more, thanks.
The Generator Jedi strikes again, great work.
Mustie1, Here is how it goes for
me. So my iPhone beeps, I look at it and it has a notification that Mustie1 has uploaded another video. I touch it and my UA-cam app opens with your latest video. haha, I can't tell you HOW many times I've talked to my computer screen "dude you forgot to _____" lol
I'm the same way with AVE and his BOLTR channel
I found your site on your tube and it habit forming. Is there any thing you can’t fix. The wife think I spend more time watch you than spend watching you videos.
awesomeee finally a will it run video !! great job !
I definitely was yellin' at you to plug that vacuum port. :)
M 1 doing his thang ... Lol ... Great vid as usual ... Just found your channel a few weeks ago and really enjoy it ...
That was a great find and the end was great too seeing all the vdubs
Glad to see you are back , I always feel like something is missing when I don't see you on here , I almost got depressed lol😂.
Love your VW KOMBI. Had one in late 60's. Was transition model, 1100c motor rebuilt by ex VW factory mech. Said it was best engine he had ever worked on.
Great job man after my own heart even the canue
Will you look at that, another long video from Mustie1 and a "will it run?" video at that. It was a WIR video that got me hooked to this channel. Thanks for the video. With your success rate, it'm damn sure that it will run.
That looks like a Honeywell, just like mine. You have a very mechanical mind Mustie. You can fix anything.
once again ............. I'm impressed
Hey Mustie1, Hoard security provided by an attack bird!!!! Good Job with the generator!!! Always hard to get them closed up after someone else opened them....
I love that evil laugh when the motor kicked over too
funny !
Really cool car club footage. I saw a couple models I didn’t know were made. Good times.

Nice Volkswagen T1 behind your generator👌
