I was curious when I first heard about this scan tool, but I had already gotten one off the Mac truck. I work at a Ford dealer, and the shop provides a few laptops paired with VCM3 for diag and vehicle software updates. Only reason I picked up a scanner from the Mac truck is because I occasionally do used cars of other makes as well, and the computers in the shop can only do Fords. I regret getting the scan tool off the Mac truck, costed me about $500. It does do everything I need it to do, scans codes, read pid data, and perform resets along with a couple of service functions, but my biggest issue is that the only way to have it powered on is by having it connected to a DLC. Which was tricky as when I first gotten it, I needed to power it on to update it, but couldn't figure out how, lol. Now I have a janky cable setup were it's a USB 5v to 12v adaptor, and then 12v plug to DLC male connector, that way whenever I need to power the tool on to update it, I can.
Autel is probably the most common firmare in most of these scan tools. I bought a cheap topdon and to my surprise reset the tranny in my o7 jeep cherokee. I hear really good things about the cheap cheap small ones there advertising for people just starting. Software is key and with the different operating systems if someone could combine them! WOW
honestly topdon and x tool have been my favorite scanners i’ve used and they have a lot of affordable options. top don artidiag pro goes on sale often for about $400
So will this thing reset. Or relearn the computer? lets say i replace the rack n pinion steering in my 2018 Chevrolet Silverado? If not then its not much different than what you can get at walmart scan tool for $20 ?
it’s done relearns for me. like steering angle calibrations, battery monitoring system resets. i haven’t done any like ECM programs with it, but i don’t see those too often either
i only work on toyota and lexus, so i can’t attest to honda. but i’ve been impressed with the launch software (icon uses launch, as well as topdon) with its capability to read OE specific codes
Don’t think this will take the throne from topdon honestly. I probably should get a scanner with all the OBD2 stuff I do now. Don’t think the T8 is what I’ll go with tho.

Can the t8 icon program a bcm and turn off mds ?

Which scanners you got that do gm tech 2 stuff. I’m just a diy but I was looking at the icon t7 since it was cheaper if it’ll do what I need

I don’t know about keys, never programmed one with it. Parking brakes it should do but honestly for the money you can get way more capable scan tool

i don’t work on diesels, so i can’t attest to it. but i’d assume it would scan your powerstroke and cummins but not heavy diesels

$800 without Bluetooth is crazy work!
the icon comes with bluetooth for $800. but i think id rather spend the $450-$500 on a wired scanner that does the same and save $300
