I use lots of leftovers and scraps. I usually make the toes different colors.

Stitch Markers
Tape Measure
Darning needle for weaving in ends
You can also make pom pom's for the top of the slippers with extra yarn.

Holding 2 strands together
Cast on 35 (for all sizes)
Row one (mark as front) Knit 12, Pearl 1, Knit 9, Pearl 1, Knit 12
Row two Knit all stitches
Continue with row 1 and row 2 until you have 6 inches of knitting - for smaller sizes until you have 5 inches of knitting
Toe section 1 X 1 rib - Knit 1, Pearl 1 all the way across
Continue to knit the knits and pearl the pearls until desired length. I made this section 4 inches. You can hold it up to the foot to determine how long to make this section exactly.

Marie
Please note the video is 6 inches of knitting for the first section and 4 inches of knitting for an Adult Size Large slipper - 10 mens

Thank you so much for this tutorial and pattern. I have looking for this for a few years now. Made them in them in 70's and love how comfortable they were. Lost I Nevin a recent move, and thw other is pretty well thread bare. Now I can make another pair. If they last 40 years like the first pair ill be in my 100's. Only difference in my slippers and your nonas was I had a pompom. Now that I'm in the mid 60's dont think I'll need the pompom this time around. Cant wait to start mine in am. First thing is a stop at Hobby Lobby for supplies. Thank you so much. You made this terminal Cancer patient very happy. My feet will be forever thankfull by the weekend.
Ohhh Christy I am praying for you. My Nonna put pom poms on for girls and she would twist several strands together and make little bows on the men’s slippers. I wasn’t sure if I should add that to the video so I left it off. Hugs 💕💕💕💕Marie
Thank you so much for your video, I’m a beginner who wants to make a pair of slippers for my mom for Christmas. Your clear details have helped me successfully start these. Hopefully I’ll have a great pair of slippers for my mom when I’m done, lol.
Trudi! I know you will have a wonderful homemade pair of slippers for your Mom when you are done. Let me know how it goes, I am excited to hear. Happy Knitting 💜🩷❄️🩷💜❄️🩷Marie
These slippers are brilliant. I now make them in a chunky and a dk yarn. Three dk works but tends to leave one thread behind. This makes a firm slipper.if you know of someone who has cold feet in bed try these .using wool or synthetic and wool combo still keeps feet cosy.
I used 6mm needles for the added bulk. Refer to above.
Great! I love them too. 💕💕Marie
Thanks for the info. I will definitely try your combo out. 💕💕Marie

hiya marie! these are terrific...i could actually try these and i barely knit. thank you for sharing!
Great! Let me know how it goes, if you end up trying them. 💕😊Marie
Well done so well explained
Vada, thanks so much! 😊
Great video! Great pattern. Your patience and instruction are wonderful. Can you tell me how to convert this pattern to baby slippers for 18 months with US Size 2 needles?
You could try using finer weight yarn like maybe fingering weight either single stranded or possibly double stranded depending on how fine the yarn you are using is, with the same stitch count. This is only a thought I have not tested it out yet. Thanks Marie 🩷
I love your work so nice and easy too thank you so much your good work.
Thanks so much, Jeany! 💕💕💕💕Marie
Love this pattern
Darlene! Thanks so much. 💕💕😊Marie
You made this easy ! Thx so much
Thanks! Peaches💕💕
Great video 🧶💥👏🏻 thank you
Ginny, thank you friend 💕💕💕Marie
Big thanku well explained
Lori, you are welcome 🩷🩷Marie
thank you!!
You are welcome, friend. 😊👋
I knit my first pair this weekend. I love them. My question is does the joke at the toe completely close? Mine did not.
It usually has a small hole at the front of the toe. But you can stitch it closed from the inside if you prefer. I find they are warm regardless if you have a small hole at the front of the toe or not. ❄️💕❄️💕Happy knitting! I am so glad you have made you first pair, they are so fun to knit and wear. Marie❄️🩷❄️
Its easier to mark the 13th stitch for both ends....that way no one will get confused, then mark your front side (right side).
Great tip thanks Bobbie!
Beautiful
Roseanne, Thank you so much🌸🌸Marie
absoulety love this pattern and video !! the hello kitty stitch markers are sooo cute! thank you for sharing this. New friend here
Hi Tanya! Thanks so much for taking the time and dropping me a note. 💕💕💕💕Marie 😊
Thank you for tutorial, I wish you could see the lovely socks I made. I just have one question, when you started the ribbing you said to knit the knits and pearl the pearls....but that did not work. Did you maybe mean, knit the purls and purl the knits? Because that worked🌸🌼🩷
I am not sure I will have to go back and watch the video tonight. I am so glad they turned out. 💕💕Marie
@@Whirledpeas00Knits Thank you!🌸
Great indeed! Just what I was looking for! :)
Thanks Lena!! ❄️😊💗Happy Knitting! 🧶 Marie
Hi Marie! These look great! Thanks for the tutorial!🤗🥰
Hi!!!!!! You are sure welcome. 💕💕💕😊Marie
Would medium size 8 be the smaller size ,Greatest instructions.
Yes, but you can try it on and just end when it is fitting your foot. 💕😊💕Marie
You have a great channel! Love these slippers =)
Thank you so much! 💕💕Marie
Question...you used 2 #4 weight yarns...what weight yarn would that equate? Or could i use any yarn that recommends a 10.5 needle
I used 2 strands of worsted weight held together. Happy Knitting! 💕😊Marie
I love this pattern! Thank you for sharing! My grandmother made some really similar to these though hers had cuffs. How might I alter the pattern to add cuffs?
Hi Carol! You could pick up stitches around the foot opening and continue with ribbing however high you would like.💕😊💕Marie
@@Whirledpeas00Knits wow thanks for replying so quickly! I'm a beginner, how would I word this to find a good tutorial? Can it be done back and forth or would I need to use dpn?
@@carolann4714 I think I would make the slipper and then pick up stitches in the round or with double pointed needles. There should be a video on UA-cam how to pick up stitches. 💕😊💕Marie.
@@carolann4714 You know about Ravelry? You should search slippers on there and see of you can find your grandma’s exact pattern. Let me know if you find one. Message me the name of it so I can see what they look like. Marie
@@Whirledpeas00Knits thank you so much! I think I just found a pattern similar to hers that uses a bind off but is still knit flat! In the meantime I'm subscribing to your channel!
Hi Marie! Great video! Thank you for sharing your Nonna's slipper pattern and the tutorial. I will make some this weekend! I'm not sure what weight each of the 2 strands held together should be? 2 worsted or 2 dk? Thank you! Also I will look for something to put on the sole to avoid slipping. 😁 so nice to see you again
Oops, duh, found answer to yarn weight question on the drop down!
@@shariwitt1977 No problem 💕😊Marie
Yes! I usually use 2 strands of worsted scraps. Sometimes with the toes different colors. Let me know what you end up using on the bottom to avoid slipping. Puffy fabric paint? Or slipper bottoms? Thanks for stopping by Shari💕💕💕💕
Great 😊
Thanks for a great video. Have you ever made these with fingering weight yarn? My mom always made socks that we just wore as slippers. I've got all her fingering weight yard, but don't really love making socks. Thought these might be easier for me.
I believe 2 or 3 strands of fingering (depending on the thickness of your fingering weight yarn) equals one strand of worsted weight yarn. You can just hold more strands together to make them. Happy Knitting 💕💜💕Marie
Would love to have a written pattern tell me how many sets and how many rows for sm. Med. lg.
I will put that on my list. 💕😊💕Marie
I would like to know the sizing for size. How long does the toe part have to be?
I would depend on the size foot you are making it for. I made mine 4 inches see instructions below. You can hold it up to your foot to determine the exact length you need.💗😊💗
Slipper Knitting Instructions
See video for sewing up instructions at the end.
Happy Knitting!
Marie
@@Whirledpeas00Knits Thanks! Love how it turned out!
Is the yarn worsted weight number 4
Claudia! Yes, these are made holdings 2 strands of worsted weight yarn. All the specifics are in the drop down just below the video. Let me know if you have trouble finding the arrow you click on. Happy Knitting 💕😊💕Marie
When you said you used a 10 and a half size hook you mean 6.50 millimeters right? Cause I don't have 10 and half needles but it also looks in the video that there probably 6.50. I want to make these but I don't want to end up using the wrong size needles
Hi Julie!! Yes, 6.5 mm knitting needles are what I used. Happy knitting 🧶 Marie
Awesome! Thank you for confirming what I thought! Lol also I love this slippers pattern. I've already made 1 pair and am working on a second cause I made the first pair a little loose.
Great! I am glad you love it. I do too. 💕😊💕Marie
Would have been nice to know how many stitches for a size 37 or 38 !
Do you mean in length? Size 37 is 9 3/8 inches long and size 38 is 9 5/8 inches long. You will need to knit it slightly shorter than that because they stretch out over the foot to hug it. You will have to measure the slippers instead of counting the rows due to me not knowing the size of yarn you are using. 💕❄️💕❄️I hope this helps. Marie
Thank you ! Can’t wait to try it ! 😊
Its 36 stitches to fit 37 _ 38
Just want a pattern please. No video. Phone won'work for a video.
If you select more below the video some of the instructions are written out. It is not as complete at the video, but it may help. Also, you may be able play the video on your tv or a computer at the library. Just thinking of options 💕💕💕Marie
shouldn't you have ended with a knit since you started with a knit? Mine ended with a knit. so do I start my second row with a knit? Why did you end with a pearl and I ended with a knit? You explained this and showed us how to do this very well, Thank you
Hi Nanette, Are you speaking about the beginning of the of the slipper, please elaborate? I believe if you are speaking of the beginning part of the slipper if we ended with different stitches you might have been slightly off in the number of stitches you began with. The best part about knitting is you can easily start over or knit two together if you find you are off. It’s all up to you, you can do what you feel comfortable with. Happy Knitting 🧶 Marie
@@Whirledpeas00Knits I mean the toe part when you knit 1, Pearl one, Knit one, Pearl one. and you do this for the entire row. I started it with a knit one then pearl one. at the end of that row I ended with a knit. you ended with a pearl. I counted my loops and I still had 35 loops. So I didn't drop any nor added any. If I end the row with a knit then I should start the next row with a knit?
@@nanette5916 If you are working back and forth flat and you ended with a knit, you would flip it over and pearl. You do the opposite on the other side. So it would be a ribbed fabric. I hope this helps. Thanks 💕😊💕Marie
No decrease for toe?
Hi Deb, The ribbing makes it pull in at the toe. But are always free to modify any pattern you want. 😊Thanks Marie
Thank you.
Are you talking size 10 as in 6 .00 mm.
Thanks
Size 10 1/2 - 6.5mm needles 😊
Thank you am definitely going to try this pattern.
Great! I am so excited for you to make a pair. 💕💕💕Marie Let me know how it goes. 😊
For someone that has no clue to knitting the rapid (fast FWD-ing) is really confusing. I wish this made more sense to me.
(I will watch it 2-3 more times to make sure that I truly don't "get it" before I downvote (which is something I RARELY ever do.)
Sorry about the fast forward, this is more of a first or second project after you have practiced the knit stitch for a bit. Maybe to first start with a square of knitting back and forth would help before starting a project. Best wishes, I would be happy to help you pick out a how to make a knit stitch pattern if you would like. Just message me on Instagram @Whirledpeas00 thanks 💕💕Marie
