    I call these connectors; quick connect/never disconnect! Good old rubber fuel line and hose clamps! NASA spent millions developing a ball point pen to write in zero gravity! Know what the Russians did? They used a pencil!

    I am replacing the fuel pump on a 2000 Ford Explorer, and the quick disconnects are neither quick nor do they disconnect. Lots of rust under there. Thanks for the heads up, I will cut that fitting off and put on a fuel line and hose clamps. Perfect solution for a car that won't last a whole lot longer anyway!!

      I think he did it on a vent line connection, so that hose was not under much pressure like a line that carries fuel would be. I am seeing this a year from your comment, what did you end up doing and how did it work?

    Privit from a possy Englishman,,,, I have the same problem, a leak from the fast connections above my Suzuki Jimny fuel tank. After watching this I have decided to cut an inspection hole and DIY new connections to the fuel lines, rather than drop the tank from underneath. Cheers for giving me the confidence to go ahead to do this... And hello to you from my Samara Russian wife also.

  • @olenaerhardt7725
    @olenaerhardt7725 2 роки тому

    It is a great approach and the film. I've heard though that the access panel should be air tight, if not the exhaust fumes can penetrate to the salon of the car. Not everyone who is cutting those access panels is aware of it. I think it would be hard to make the air tight fitting on that cut off hole and the lid. More work to drop a tank, but probably not much for people who can work on fuel lines.

  • @generatorblue
    @generatorblue 5 років тому +3

    You need to place another clamp behind the flare that stopped the rubber hose. After that you can use any type of wire to wrap around the hose clamp screws. That way, the pressure in the line will not push the rubber hose away. Redo the video without the bad words and add that extra hose clamp. That way, you will sound wiser

    • @CoberRuger
      @CoberRuger  5 років тому +7

      no, this video for whiners from fordexplorer forum and I am not gonna change it

    • @generatorblue
      @generatorblue 5 років тому +5

      @@CoberRugerYou do not have to change it. But you can also post a cleaner generic version (that does not mention any car name) if you want to. I suggested wrapping up the screws from two hose clamps (one on each side of the flare). The wire wrap will prevent the screws from rotating and becoming loose easily. You can also add two additional hose clamps with the screws facing down (left and right of the flare ) Once again, you will need to wrap thin wire around the screws. Doing that will secure the connection for years. And if the connection with the extra screws fails, it will leak slowly instead popping out and gushing gasoline. But I must tell you that your video helped me realize that an "easy-connect" can be replaced by a normal time consuming connection that is secure. Thank you for responding!

      Without a doubt,Generator because one won't have enough time to put out that fire,
      A high pressure fuel line hose WILL blow off unless two worm drive clamps are used AND they are wired together to prevent it.The ethanol in the gas will deteriorate and swell up in about a year....Maybe they don't use Cattle stock corn in Russia to make gas like the scam we have going in USA
      ALSO one MUST NOT use regular fuel line hose,it's only good for about 10 PSi WHEN NEW

  • @tommak6516
    @tommak6516 Рік тому

    Why didn't you put some gasket sealer or form a gasket stuff on the connections before clamping? Wouldn't that make a better seal? If it ever had to be disconnected again the connecting hose could just be cut off completely and redone. With old vehicle odds are it will never be taken apart again anyway.

    In Russia anything goes with car repairs. In the US doing a repair like this and having any accident opens the mechanic up to potentially frivolous lawsuits should the vehicle be involved with any accident based on the mechanics work. I find it amazing this guy used a disc grinder right next to the inlet ports to the fuel tank and didnt blow himself up
