I lost my son in 2011 after that I felt lost around September of last year I started watching your videos on quilting I had never quilted before I decided to make my other son and his wife a quilt for Christmas I grew up with a mom that sewed and I had always sewed so I watched your videos and I made him the hunter star quilt it turned out beautiful and something changed inside of me I feel like you have helped me to get myself back and I am so thankful for that God bless you thank you Jenny
Angela, I too lost a son, but it was further back in 1993. Quilting has helped me a great deal also. Making something beautiful and then giving it away brings a lot of cheer to someone else and you as well. It's very helpful in the healing process. God bless you many times over.
I understand what you mean ,I have several Layer Cakes and the 2 every time I look at them would be terrible to cut the "Guest Room" and " Garden Delight 2" are my favorites because it reminds me of my Bubbie's house and her beautiful garden. After 10 years from a bad car accident I'm now able to sew and quilt. Quilting is not only a hobby it is good therapy for my brain injury. Thank You for every thing, ,it has helped me alot.
Yes, Jenny, this is the one I was hoping to remember, hoping to find. I knew it was red, but added more steps for interest. I need to search for a good layer cake design, next. Thx luv ❤️. 😅 glad we connected today.
Well that does it! I've been drooling over the Rue 1800 for a while and now I just *have* to buy it. I sit here watching you, answering all your questions as if you can hear me, agreeing, oohing and ahhing, guessing what you'll do next. You got me so excited to make a quilt that I bought a sewing machine 2 or 3 years ago and now I'm going to *have* to open the darned thing! Threading that thing will be a nightmare and the bobbins OHHH the bobbins!! See what you've done, Jenny? Another beautiful quilt with beautiful fabric and now I have to chant "I think I can, I think I can...."
I have just recently found this channel, and I am enjoying it immensely. It's been years since I made a quilt and I didn't even think I wanted to make one. That is, until I started watching you, Jenny. Now I am having a hard time choosing a pattern. Each time I watch one of your videos, another pattern goest on my list of possibilities!
This is a wonderful idea. Jenny knows first hand how quilters think. I bought a beautiful set of 10" squares. Now I don't have to cut them and my quilt will be gorgeous.
I can't say she's done it again.....because she does such an AMAZING job every week! I love MSQC....and Jenny of course! Another awesome quilt and a great way to START the weekend. Thanks Jenny!
❤bit slow on getting going with this after purchasing fabric from you 2 years ago …. Thank you for your clear precise instructions …. up and away with it now 💖💖
@@kathiglomb9490 i saw a post that said if you halved everything it wouldn't work. The 5" squares would have to be trimmed to 4" or maybe it was 3.5". I don't want to use a charm pack and have to cut it down. I would love to see your quilt.
I love this quilt i have a layer cake I could not bring myself to cut up and I wanted to make an Irish Chain quilt. Thank you so much Jenny for the tutorial.
Instead of using the entire layer cake, use half of it and make two quilts! That way you won’t have a huge king size but two smaller ones and you can enjoy one and spread the joy by giving the other one away.
@@hildiborkowski4436 Wonder how I can do this quilt in a twin xlong. I don't quilt much but bought my 2 year old granddaughter a layer cake with princesses and wanted to make a quilt.
Michele Klein Easy! These blocks are 10 inches wide. So, don’t make as many blocks - only as many as you would need wide and then as many long. It’s truly very easy. Just measure, that’s all. Good luck!!!
Absolutely love this quilt! Jenny your enthusiasm for this quilt, will have me pushing aside my project (s) to make this one. Thank you for all your tutorials.
Jenny, you are in my head. I have a few layer cakes that I have not wanted to cut. When this happens, I typically make a Friendship Star Sashing quilt (thank you for that tutorial) and now I have another option! This is awesome!
I LOVE IT!!!! I have always loved the Irish Chain and this is just wonderful with the fact I can finally use some of fabrics that I just hate to cut up because of the beautiful print. This is a win win pattern for me. Thanks so much Jenny, just love you! Many hugs to you too..... Claudia
I love this quilt, Irish hair quilts are my favorite! My very first completed quilt was a small double Irish chain wall hanging for my brother’s and sister-in-law’s wedding 28 years ago.
Jenny, I made these quilt blocks using the red and white, but for my 10” squares I used Pioneer Woman’s Sweet Rose fabric. I love the bright colors of her fabric. Anyway, when I put the blocks together it was just too busy. Your layer cakes are so muted, they were just perfect, but The floral on my fabric, just jumped out at you and the red chain didn’t. I decided to put another row of what I call the logs around the chain blocks. Had to add some white logs to the floral also, but it worked great. It’s just so gorgeous. Thank you so much for this video.
•💟• Be sure to follow the pattern exactly. In this video, Jenny accidentally misspoke a couple of times. These videos are a great joy & blessing for all of us, but please follow the pattern before you cut your fabrics. It's just s bit of a tongue twister. At 3:06 she says, 2-1/2" but the red squares are from 2" strips & subcut into 2" strips. At 6:20, she says 7" white, but they're 7-1/2" wide (long) x 2" (wide) strips, that finish at 7" x1-1/2". Thank you for your delightful videos & all of your work Jenny. Again, not to be critical or hurt feelings, just asking quilters to follow the directions & think it through as well. •💟•
I think the 7” strips are correct. 7+2+2=11. 11-1 (2qty 1/2” dbl seam allowances) =10” Remember, The finished block is not actually “finished size“, because the outer raw edges have not been sewn into a seam yet and they must also match the unfinished 10”square. Hope that makes sense.
Super great idea. We all have that fabric we saw fell in love with and just couldn't bring ourselves to cut, it was just too pretty. So what do we do hang on to it...forever! Until now that is! Thanx so much Jenny and MSQC. Love this pattern, so happy I can now showcase my favorite layer cake! Good Work😁👍
This is one of THE best tutorials I've seen from you, Jenny....it's quick, it's easy and it's gorgeous! Depending on fabric choices it can go from whimsy to elegant. I'm making one today! It's cold and snowy here...a perfect day to sew! ( ...come to think of it--every day is a good day to sew). Thank you so much. Great tutorial.
This is beautiful and perfect for the Painted Meadows layer cake I bought from MSQC awhile back. It is just too lovely to cut :-) and this will highlight it wonderfully. Thank you for all the inspiration and instruction!
Thanks Jenny this is going to work so well for my William Morris prints which I've been hoarding forever not wanting to cut them up. I love them so much and want to see as much of them as possible!
I’ve had a 10” pack I purchased from you 3 years ago for my daughter. Didn’t want to cut into it, was waiting for a pattern just like this - it will be perfect for he and my son-in-law who just moved out of state. Thank you! 😃
What a great pattern. I'm a novice and your video was recommended to be by an experienced quilter. It's perfect because I found two yards of paisley printed fabric that my mother-in-law purchased in the fifties and want to make her a small lap quilt with it. I am going to get some black and white paisley that my local small material shop has, and along with plain white I think this will be perfect. Just have to figure out the sizes, etc, for a small quilt. Thanks so much.
Jenny love your teaching style. Now my seams match, love your tutorials. Great story of you and your family on “Sunday Morning” on CBS this past Sunday.
I love this Veronica of the Irish chain quilt. With layer cakes in between I’m sure it goes faster too. Thanks so much for sharing another great idea!!
I love how you make every complicated-looking quilt come together with ease. I always start your video thinking, "I don't know if I can do that", but by the time you're finished, I'm making plans to make it!! Thank you!
Thank you, thank you, thank you! I have been holding onto a cake layer and yardage that I bought from you when I visited Quilt Town in December of 2018! I bought the American Heritage fabrics. I can hardly wait for the pattern to arrive! I just love your videos.
absolutely stunning Jenny. Just when I think you can't top yourself, you do! Thank you so much for your vision an creativity, and for sharing it with the rest of us.
Nice idea for my 10 inch squares that I bought about a year ago. I just need to get the Irish Chain fabric - I think I'll be going to Joann's this weekend!!!

Very very nice beautiful happy color gorgeous quilt patterns
I am making one with charms. So, far I am loving it. Hopefully I will have the top completed in a couple of days.
How did it turn out? Did you cut the strips 2” and 1” ? Everything in half of what her directions are?
