*You can support the channel with UA-cam Channel Memberships or through Buy Me a Coffee. Never expected, but always appreciated.❤Links in Description!* This is an absolute powerhouse!! Heart never disappoints and I can't wait to hear more!
Brother, I have your channel playing in the background and I had to pull over for this one. Heart is ROCK ROYALTY!!!!! And the treatment Ann got from the music industry because of her weight is absolutely criminal!! Hearts entire catalog is fire. I enjoy their early music just as much as I do their later music. Definitely one of a kind. Keep churning out these vids, and I'll keep tuning in.
This is just one ultimate banger of a song. Love Nancy's harmonies as well. Next one I suggest is These Dreams, where Nancy sings lead vocals, with Ann providing harmonies.
Ann is simply one of the all time great singers and Alone showcases her talent brilliantly. Superb review as always Steven, love to see your appreciation for these superstars in action.
Pat Benatar is another fabulous female rocker. Classically trained singer who loves rock. Hell is for Children is one of her signature songs putting a spotlight on the plight of abused children.
yes that was Nancy on the keys. What makes this even more amazing is the fact that this video was a live shot video, Nancy was doing all the backup singing with a cold. That was the other guy doing the solo though.
This was their second #1 song. Their first was "These Dreams", where Nancy sang the lead. You can hear, what I think, is their best examples of "Alone and These Dreams" by going to Heart, Live in Seattle, 2002. I also recommend "Dog and Butterfly", which they performed in this concert. These were done pretty much acoustically by the lovely Nancy. Another great female from the day was Linda Ronstadt.
All right my brother Stephen.... I may have mentioned this before but I did see this band live in concert. I am man enough to admit when they played this song, I cried. The aura of the entire arena was mind-blowing. Thanks for the great memory and keep these reactions coming ‼️💯🔥🔥🔥😁👍🏻
Yes, quite possibly one of the best power ballads ever 🎉🎉 You shiuld also check out her duet she just recently did with Disturbed Dont Tell Me Best duet since Ozzy and Lita's Clise your eyes Forever
Love your reaction. They're great. Those were the days..people had real talent. Now anyone can sound decent but take away the electronics and they sound sooo bad.
Canada used to claim them as our own back in the mid-70s... something the band sometimes seems to forget. Also, their 1985 comeback single "What About Love" was borrowed from Canadian band Toronto.
Nancy on piano and rhythm guitar. Love this song but These Dreams is one of my favourites with Nancy doing lead vocals. Can’t remember if you have reacted to that one yet.
GREAT reaction Steven!! Heart are incredible...and it's much to do with Ann's voice & Nancy's harmonizing (and subtle, but amazing guitar playing - she's no slouch!). This is definitely in contention for best power ballad! (probably places in my top 5 - Scorpions Still Loving You would be my #1 - if you don't know that one, check it!!) I love everything Heart does! They can rock with the best of them. HIGHLY recommend 'Sylvan Song/Dream of the Archer' if you really want to hear Ann's vocal prowess AND Nancy on acoustic! But yes, Ann's voice is top, TOP notch! Cheers from Canada, eh!
If this "chills you to the bone", then you need listen to the Alone version they did with The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in 2016. I went into permafrost after listening to that one.
Ann Wilson in an early 80’s interview talking about George Harrison of the Beatles: “But I did get to talk to him. And he actually sang the chorus of Alone to me on the phone. It was so cute.”
Great reaction! Try Never by them. If you want to hear another powerhouse of a singer, try Noora Louhimo from Battlebeast if you haven't heard them before try "Black Ninja" and Eye of the storm". Plus there is Kobra Paige of Kobra and the Lotus. If you haven't heard them, then try "Velvet roses". There is also Brittney Hayes (aka Brittney slayes) from Unleash the archers and their song "The awakening". That should keep you busy!
This was the second #1 hit that they had the first was called "These Dreams" and Nancy has the lead on the vocals in this one ua-cam.com/video/0DLeH2FWFTE/v-deo.htmlsi=ZQ_WdD-TvyK1Y8hc P.S. Nancy sings the high part in these harmonies.
Let's Gooo! I saw them live in the early 90s in Toronto. Ann killed this song live her vocals are just incredible. Try Magic Man or What about love from them. Please check out Trooper Here for a good time 😂 Great reaction and Peace out Steven ☮️ ✌️ 🙏
I would like you to discove a new artist Eva Cassidy, she passed away many years and did not get to see the success she has gotten before her death, she passed at 33. She has one of the cleanist effortless voices I ever heard. You should react to Eva Cassidys version of "Songbird", which was originally sung by the great Christine McVie. Enjoy I know you will because you love great voices, wait till you hear hers.
They (UA-cam) got a live video at the VH1 music awards, of Gretchen Wilson singing Heart’s song “Barracuda” with Nancy Wilson, and band members of Alice In Chains. I kid you not, Gretchen almost sings it as good as Ann Wilson, and as you know that’s say a lot. Gretchen is good friends with them, and the Wilson sisters, call Gretchen their third sister. How cool is It that Gretchen’s last name is also Wilson. Btw, Gretchen was so good, most of us rockers think she would be better as a rock singer, after seeing that performance, but I know she’s a country woman at heart.
This is indeed a great power ballad. My vote is for Still Loving You by Scorpions you should react if you don't know it. Well done as always my friend. Ann is absolutely amazing though God she can freaking sing.
Nancy was definitely not doing the solo. I saw them five years ago.. They started this song out very slowly & softly. When Ann came in with that banshee scream after the second verse.. she won everyone's heart in the place & we were all on our feet loving her. She ain't lost her voice at all. 😎
The trading guitar solo was amazing as Nancy first is totally bent back laying flat then on one knee banging out the solo. I'm not totally sure if dueling solo, I have listened to this song 100 times and can sometimes hear 2 different guitars. And as 65 year old fellow drummer that saw Heart in concert and then this song came out early 80s in the MTV Era when ALL MTV played was music videos, I can probably sit in on this song and hit every same beat all the way thru. In all fairness while the song is amazing, the drum part is not that hard but you probably know that. And yeah, those flams as he goes around the kit are very cool.
This was their second #1 hit, following "These Dreams" where Nancy sings lead. And as great as the studio-version of "These Dreams" is, my personal favorite is a live acoustic version from 2002. Here it is: ua-cam.com/video/0DLeH2FWFTE/v-deo.html
This is such a powerhouse song about unrequited love. It was written & performed in 1983 by Kelly & Steinberg of the band i-Ten. Sadly, the song went nowhere. In 1984, actor John Stamos & his then girlfriend covered Alone. It too went nowhere. In 1987, Capitol Records presented the song to Ann Wilson & Howard Leese of Heart, and they hated it. Ann said the vocal arrangements sounded so weak and whiney. So, Ann changed the vocal arrangements and Howard changed the guitar work. Giving us this amazing version you're reacting to. Howard is the lead guitarist of Heart. From 1974 to 1995. He did the guitar solo for Alone. According to the R.I.I.A., This song was the number one song of 1987.
Howard Leese played the solo,Steve. Denny Carmassi on drums (Montrose), Mark Andes on bass (Spirit). Quite the potent band in the 80's in their 2nd phase. Their 'Brigade' album was the best of the three in that period. The follow-up,Desire Walks On, is an underrated one,for sure. I'll always prefer the 70's material, however. Dive in..T
Nancy looks like a real rock star with the outfit, cleavage, exotic moves - especially when the real guitar player is soloing.🙄🙄 Now Ann - she's gorgeous, (no matter her weight), and has the voice of the most powerful angel ever. I love you, ANN! ❤❤
I've always loved this song! This is actually the next Heart song that I'm planning to cover on my channel. This is one of the greatest power ballads of the 80's. It wasn't originally written for them, but they turned it into a mega hit.
You wanna hear drums? You NEED to hear the Ventures! And their song "Wipe-Out"! The video that has Max Weinberg as a guest drummer is awesome! Some SUPER fast drumming! With TWO drummers! The video was added to UA-cam by 'Ares1986'. No singing, just music. Seriously, check them out. :D
Still my favorite Heart song! The only one to go number one. I still have no idea why they don't show Ann when she's belting out that scream. I got to see them in concert at the forum in Los Angeles back in 91 with cheap trick opening.
The big controversy with this video is you only see brief shots of Ann full length. They felt she was "TOO" big, so they focused the spotlight on Nancy!
Steven, you missed a great opportunity to see this amazing performance live! The very Best is: Alone/These Dreams live from Seattle. You get Ann & Nancy on lead vocals. Unfortunately, you are witnessing why Ann & Nancy hated their videos, the Record company making them sex-vixens instead of focusing on the music.
Well, if you have not yet checked out Pat Benatar then you better go there in a hurry. Listen to...Promises In The Dark, Heartbreaker, You Better Run, Hell Is For Children....Have fun!
Ah yes, the "big hair" days of the 80's... I personally hated the look, but their sound transcended the decades and musical era's..... (I think I read the "big hair" was their producer or agent's doing, not sure though)
*You can support the channel with UA-cam Channel Memberships or through Buy Me a Coffee. Never expected, but always appreciated.❤Links in Description!*
This is an absolute powerhouse!! Heart never disappoints and I can't wait to hear more!
Ann Wilson is simply one of the best voices EVER!!! Untouched in that high register with all that power....fantastic.
Ann can sing. Period. ❤️🎶
Great vocals brings me to tears ❤
💯 ❤️
Love Heart. Classics. ❤
Excellent song
Brother, I have your channel playing in the background and I had to pull over for this one. Heart is ROCK ROYALTY!!!!! Appreciate it and thanks for hanging out!
This is just one ultimate banger of a song. Love Nancy's harmonies as well.
Next one I suggest is These Dreams, where Nancy sings lead vocals, with Ann providing harmonies.
Heart is amazing. Ann has such a beautiful voice! Nancy is awesome as well. Love this song! Love your reaction!
I was lucky enough to have a chance to see them perform!
Ann Wilson is around 74. Still belts it out. Recently had a health scare but is recovering well I hear. Check out “How can I refuse?” From 1982.
Those sisters have got great voices as much as great looks. God bless them.
HEART... must watch live performance. THE ROAD HOME 1995
That harmony on the chorus is one of the best ever.
So good!!! 🔥🔥
Ann is a beast!!!! Amazing rock and roll!
'Dog and Butterfly' is a beautiful subdued ballad.
These Dreams by them around the same time as this song has Nancy singing the lead and won best video of the 80’s on MTV.
Ann is simply one of the all time great singers and Alone showcases her talent brilliantly. Superb review as always Steven, love to see your appreciation for these superstars in action.
Really appreciate that! 😁
One of the best power ballads ever written and Ann Wilson's lead vocal. I have loved Heart since the first album in 1976❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤!
Go way back and do "Straight On"; such a funky beat and the harmonies are crazy! Thanks for the video, hope you have a great week!
Also love their What About Love?, These Dreams, Stranded.
and also: Never , black on black II
both "what abot love" & " black on Black was covers. The first is originaly a Toronto song and the second is a Dalbello song.
You might want to check out “These Dreams”, Nancy sings lead. ❤️
Try These Dreams next. Nancy is on lead vocals.
Pat Benatar is another fabulous female rocker. Classically trained singer who loves rock. Hell is for Children is one of her signature songs putting a spotlight on the plight of abused children.
Suggest THESE DREAMS next. Suggest live version from Seattle, fantastic witness Nancy lead vocal.
yes that was Nancy on the keys. What makes this even more amazing is the fact that this video was a live shot video, Nancy was doing all the backup singing with a cold. That was the other guy doing the solo though.

80's rock ballads are hot
Yes, quite possibly one of the best power ballads ever 🎉🎉
You shiuld also check out her duet she just recently did with Disturbed
Dont Tell Me
Best duet since Ozzy and Lita's
Clise your eyes Forever
Love your purple lighting and your guitars, etc in your background.
Thanks so much! Appreciate you hanging out and have a great day! 😁

Always loved and appreciated, man! Love Heart and whenever possible it should be taken into consideration how lovely these Rocking Sisters truly are!
Great Power Ballot.
I listen to your reactions when I'm on my nightly walk.
Yay!! I love that! Thanks so much! 😁
Shout out to Howard Leese, Mark Andes and Denny Carmassi. Howard's solo. Heart videos were like this all the time.
Check out These Dreams next with Nancy singing lead vocals!
Love your reaction. They're great. Those were the days..people had real talent. Now anyone can sound decent but take away the electronics and they sound sooo bad.
So glad you are enjoying the channel! 😁
Love your surprise when Ann screams. :-)
Straight 🔥🔥
Canada used to claim them as our own back in the mid-70s... something the band sometimes seems to forget. Also, their 1985 comeback single "What About Love" was borrowed from Canadian band Toronto.
Live in Seattle is a slower and more soulful version along with Nancy's These Dreams, both are fantastic
One of the bands that I did sound for had a female lead vox, they did this tune. She did it justice.
Originally written in 1982 by Sheron Alton and Brian Allen of the Canadian rock band Toronto
That song is WHAT ABOUT LOVE, not this one. Alone was originally from I TEN
Nancy on piano and rhythm guitar. Love this song but These Dreams is one of my favourites with Nancy doing lead vocals. Can’t remember if you have reacted to that one yet.
'Alone' is my fave Ann song, 'These Dreams' is my fave Nancy song ❤
@ reasonable assessment that although Barracuda and Crazy On You are also up there.
GREAT reaction Steven!! Heart are incredible...and it's much to do with Ann's voice & Nancy's harmonizing (and subtle, but amazing guitar playing - she's no slouch!). Cheers from Canada, eh!
You will like the drums in “Straight On”, and she is of course amazing! Might try Allison Krauss “Forget About It” is still my favorite!!🤘🔥
If this "chills you to the bone", then you need listen to the Alone version they did with The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in 2016. I went into permafrost after listening to that one.

Guitar solo by Howard Leese.

Listen to heart
Just wanna make love to you
What about love
They fire 🔥
I only found out this year after all these years that it's a cover.😁
Stevie nicks with and without Fleetwood Mac she has a powerful voice
Howard Leese played the solo,Steve. Denny Carmassi on drums (Montrose), Mark Andes on bass (Spirit). Quite the potent band in the 80's in their 2nd phase. Sorry, check the band Quarterflash, amazing the lead singer plays the sax. Harden my heart.

That’s absolutely ridiculous! 🤦🏻♂️
Magic Man is one of their best
I know how you love those story twists,so check out " all I wanna do is make love to you" such a cool tune
Ann’s powerful vocals shine in that power ballad.
I like Heart very much, too, but the best power ballad ever HAS TO BE "For cring out loud" by Meat Loaf (and Jim Steinman).
I love Heart, but the best powerballad ever is "Still loving you" by Scorpions.
Nightwish - ghost love score
It’s on the channel! Covered it very early and blew me away! 🔥
Try SASS JORDAN the song SO HARD enjoy!!!!
Dreamboat Annie
I'm a magic man
But any heart will do
🚜🤠🐂
Joan Jett. You're Welcome.
Appreciate it! 🤘🏻
Well, if you have not yet checked out Pat Benatar then you better go there in a hurry. Listen to...Promises In The Dark, Heartbreaker, You Better Run, Hell Is For Children....Have fun!
Yes that's Namcy on the piano. "What About Love" Ann's voice is incredible.Probably better than this song
Ah yes, the "big hair" days of the 80's... I personally hated the look, but their sound transcended the decades and musical era's..... (I think I read the "big hair" was their producer or agent's doing, not sure though)
Ann had got too heavy so the industry would only show her from far away or a face close up only. This is a fact.
So wild!! 🤦🏻♂️
@setonhillstudios It was a stain on the music industry but that's what it was really like. It's unfortunate because Ann is beautiful.
not the best (that's Still loving you, by scorpions), but one of the best, for sure/
IT'S A COVER
