The Keyboard player and writer / composer of the lyrics. The man is a freaking genius. He wrote this song for the 1999 Full Eclypse of the sun when it passed over Finland. The drummers name is Kai, Bass Guitar is Yukka, and the leader guitarist is Emppu...in my opinion he is one of the best lead guitarist in the world right now! You need to listen to Nightwish song titled : " LanternLight " This song is a masterpiece! Talk about having Floorgasms....this song will bring tears to your I eyes!
Tuomas is just a wonderful person, very private, smart, sweet, loves hiking and makes crosswords with his wife. We are very proud of him here in Finland ❤
Also a huge fan of the Scrooge McDuck comics. These influenced a lot of us, including George Lucas and Steven Spielberg...and Tuomas. It's kind of like a secret handshake.
D&ddO not yet. My first listen to it was live in concert and I needed to adjust to it at first, as I wasn't so much into Metal at all back then. Now, I like it pretty much as the song is manisfesting Floor's versatility in all trades of singing.
100% occur. This is the song of the year 2024 to me and up even higher than sleeping sun. ua-cam.com/video/ipkEEwIszvM/v-deo.html Why does Floor give us those feelings magically - because she sings exactly how she is.
Yep, my song of 2024 too, and bearing in mind that my favourite artist of the last 30 years also released a new album this year and has some great songs on that album too, it was up against some stiff competition.
Emppu is one of my favourite guitarists, he can shred and be super fast etc but instead serves the song instead of his ego. He does it all with a smile too.
I think it's neat that Emppu will walk around the stage and touch people on the shoulder, like to stay connected with the rest of the band or something? Apparently that's something he does regularly. You can see him doing it in the Wacken Ghost Love Score video that everyone reacts to. I think Floor commented on it in her own reaction to that video :P
Yes. I think Yours is an Empty Hope, Romantacide, 7 Days to the Wolves, Devil & The Deep Dark Ocean etc - just to see the “heavier” side of Nightwish too. Then something fun, I Want Mu Tears Back, live in Beunos Aires, or Last Ride of The Day - Masters of Rock show. Then, well there is a whole Nightwish catalogue with a song for every occasion, every emotion… 😅
Floorgasms are never to be apologized for my friend. They are addictive. Even Floor knows how we all use the term. Nothing sexual, just a term of endearment and appreciation. That is Tuomas on keys. He composes most of the music and lyrics for Nightwish. It is a DNA coil. This tour was in support of their "Endless Forms Most Beautiful" record. A tribute to all life on earth and the human experience. This song was written to celebrate the 1999 European solar eclipse. Floor does draw you into the show like a huge warm hug. They have a handful of softer emotional songs like this one. I love deep level reactions and analysis from passionate and intelligent musicians. Thank you Nick. Welcome to the ranks of the Nightwish army! 🙏🙏 Only just the beginning of this amazing journey.
The keyboardist that you commented on is Tuomas Holopainen and he is much more than a great instrumentalist. He is the composer and lyricist of almost all of the music that Nightwish performs. Thus, I think you could say that he is the soul of the band. Many call him the Metal Mozart. The guitarist is Emppu Vuorinen, and he can play whatever the band needs, tastefully.
"Can you imagine being sung to sleep by Floor Jansen?" - two lucky little girls can live that dream. Speaking of Lara Fabian; Floor covered her amazing song Adagio, during the covid times. It's a masterclass in dynamic range and control.
Tuomas wrote this song for the 1999 solar eclipse. He was asked to write a song about it, and at first he declined because he said that's not how he creates songs, just at someone's request. He later relented and wrote this masterpiece. The eclipse occurred on Aug. 11th, 1999, the 223rd day of the year, hence the line "222 days of light will be desired by a night".
And so Tuomas made it the way he the way it needed to be 4:30-5:00 mins long not the requested 2:30 mins radio version. It still broke records on radio through Finland/ Europe!
You nailed it. Many of us are here to vicariously re-experience hearing these performances for the first time. Sharing that joy never gets old. When a reactor sheds tears that they don't expect, we shed tears too. Of course, some reactions are more enjoyable than others. Reactors who share their knowledge, to help us understand why we like what we like, are vastly preferred over those who just make faces and go "Wow!" You're a good one. Please keep it up so that we can continue to enjoy your journey.
Your reaction is exceptionally competent. Combined with your enthusiasm, it is an absolute delight for us Nightwish fans. Thank you very much for that! No Recommendations from me. Nightwish has so many great songs, each one is different and the best in its own way. Whatever your next NW reaction is, I'm looking forward to it.
Grest stuff. You need Shallow by Floor in Beste Zangers 2019 and the latest slow song Lanternlight (music video only, no live) from the newvalbum Yesterwynde. Also Dead Boy's Poem (Buenos Aires 2018), Tuomas' most personal song until Poet, and another superb Floor ballad. My top 6 are 1. The Poet and the Pendulum from Wembley 2015 2. Song of Myself from Wacken 2013 3. 7 Days to the Wolves from Wembley 2015 4. Devil and the Deep Dark Ocean from Buenos Aires 2018 4. (equal) Dead Boys Poem from Buenos Aires 2018 5. Weak Fantasy from Tampere 2015 6. Lanternlight music video and album version (this is rising and changing my top 6)
He should do all these, but I would recommend to read "the book of Tuomas" chapter by chapter. All works are great individually (and some even more), but to see the bigger picture....
I listened hundreds of time to this song, walking the doggies in the dunes… one ear in, one ear listening to the birds. It helped me cope with the loss of my sister. Still gives me goosebumps after 7 years, I ‘ll love this song forever ❤
The song "Lanterlight" from their latest album is another slow, beautiful song. At the other end of the spectrum, try "Yours is an empty hope" or "Romanticide" for some metal vocal goodness or "Distain" with Floor's previous band Revamp. Try "Elan" or "I want my tears back" for some Celtic folky vibe. For a whole song with Floor singing in a more classical style listen to the revived "Stargazers" (previously done by Tarja). For Floor without Nightwish in classical style, try her rendition of "O mio babbino caro" or her with the band Epica in "Sancta Terra" and "Stabat mater dolorosa". Or try her rendition of "Shallow" from the Dutch TV show Beste Zangers. Hear her sing the Dutch yellow pages here ua-cam.com/users/shortsgmjIHx10g1U I absolutely love Floor no matter what she is singing! You can go down a very deep rabbit hole with her. The above doesn't even scratch the surface. The band I mentioned (Epica) will give you another flavor of symphonic metal. Try their song "Consign to oblivion" for a good contrast between Simone's classical style and her bandmates' metal vocals.
If you want the biggest number of great European metal singers in the one place at once..... look up the Aryeon Universe. There's at least 20 of them, stunning musicians and great music. (Yes, Floor is in that too :) And her sister....)
Ayreon (Arjen Lucassen its father, another Dutchie who even towers over Floor:) does not try to build a permanent group, hes more like "project" for which he gathers best artists he can get. Usually on album only, nevertheless they had some Live "events" ...
Keyboard: Tuomas Holopainen, our Metal Mozart. He's Finnish. All of these songs, except for a few covers, were written by him. Bass: Marko Hietala. Finnish. He is one of the best metal singers and bass players in Finland. Sadly, he left the group in 2022. Drums: Kai Hahto. Finnish. He's a machine. He plays so fast and accurately, he's incredible. Right now he's is giving drum lessons by having one student stay at his house and learn in his studio next door Guitar: Emppu Vuorinen. Finnish. This guy is a virtuoso. He can play anything, including the metal shredding. He gives the band exactly what they need at the right time. Uillean Pipes/backup guitar, various pipes, backup vocals. Troy Donockley. He's from the UK but I'm not sure where. Troy is amazing. So talented and can play so many instruments. And of course our Floor, who you already know and love. There's another reactor who loves Nightwish. What he says about Floor is that she brings you in (musically) and gives you a big hug, says everything will be ok, them pushes you down the stairs. I honestly think that's a great description of her versatility. She often sings several different styles within the same song. She may start with that clean, beautiful soprano, and just as you get into that grove she starts belting and growling.Your comments were on point about them. Great reaction. Thanks.
Floor performance at the live acoustic version of "How's the Heart" will show you how a stripped down version of a Nightwish song sounds like ! ua-cam.com/video/yYtkPpFYzOo/v-deo.html
Thanks for pointing out those little things and the technique behind them - YES, that is a big part of why I love Nightwish, the thousands of feelings they convey with their Music!
🫶I know a lot people who want you to wait, but for me The Poet and the Pendulum is the climax! With only a bit of research/ the lyrics, you should do this song. It's not necessary to know everything about their story. I saw many resctors who has been absolutly stressed about the background so they could'nt enjoy what they hear. When you listen to it more often you can find all the easter eggs and gems inbetween!
Romanticide is one of my favorite when i started listening to Nightwish- so many too choose from- enjoy watching your reactions- floor also has solo songs too- keep em coming!
Please allow me to complete the infos on that song....... first: one of the rare songs that was performed by all three vocalists. second: one of the rare songs that does not base on an idea of Tuomas. in 1999 Tuomas was asked by his label (Drakkar Records) to write a song about the total eclipse of the sun in 1999. They asked him: Please not longer than 3mins (radio-friendly). Tuomas did it in nearly 4:30mins. third : Total eclipse of the sun occured in 1999 over northern Europe with its peak of 2:23sec in Romania.......once in a lifetime.... That was at the 11th aug 1999 (223rd day of the year).....222 days of light will be desired by a night....... Fun fact: there had been 3 Concorde aircraft in the air who followed the shadow and enlarged the time for the passengers to nearly 15mins. For me personally: I will never forget that magic moment.....seemed the earth stands still...total silence......even the birds were quiet.....magical. Its a magical song with a great solo of Emppu...showing his masterclass ..... Bringing variations of the theme and adding his own notes in full harmony with the theme.....expressing great emotions with quite few notes........simply but perfectly performed....... And don`t ask me about the GODDESS performing it........... Good reaction...... Greeting from the Nightwish Army South Germany.

She pours so much emotion in it that at one time even Floor herself could not keep it together (post-Pandemic, post-cancer-scare (6 days), post-operation (14 days)) It was madness for her to be on stage at all, but she wanted it all return to 'normal' so badly. Anyways, it proves they are live for real. IF (big if) a mishap happens...there's a mishap.
sooooo good... I'm a classic fan and metal fan! Nightwish is the best quintessence of both put together... there are many symphonic metal bands, but nothing, nothing! can be compared to nightwish !
Great reaction! Song commissioned by Nightwish's then German record label to commemorate a total solar eclipse in 1999 . They required the song to be no more then 3 minutes to be radio friendly and Tuomas, being himself, wrote a 4 minute song. While the lyrics are directly related to the solar eclipse, the music gives it a feel of longing. I can totally see the eclipse in the song as a metaphor for loss and pain. One of Floor's favorites to sing from the Tarja era. She wanted to add it to the setlist for this Endless Forms Most Beautiful tour and the deal with Tuomas was that in return for adding it she agreed to add Stargazers to the setlist, another Tarja era song that they hadn't performed in years since it wasn't something Anette could sing. This is one of the songs where I love Floor's and Tarja's performances equally. Checkout either the 2005 music video for the re-recorded version of the song (Tarja striding across a medieval battlefield like a valkyrie, they guys fighting as knights) or the live performance from the End of an Era concert. Also there is a fan video of Floor singing this song in her first show after recovering from her breast cancer surgery. She gets very emotional and her voice cracks at the end. Such a beautiful and intimate moment. ua-cam.com/video/jxr5vSQlZZc/v-deo.htmlsi=GDOhsaQK4p9hoYGe or the whole song ua-cam.com/video/GZrSZeBpDKU/v-deo.htmlsi=CrWKNqf0zPQTJ9ef.
"What a melody! What a beautiful beautiful song this is!" The 2nd official videoclip (remastered version) with Tarja is one of my favorites and I love both ladies singing this song. I danced to "Sleeping Sun" at my wedding. "I wish for this night-time, To last for a lifetime". Me and my husband listened to Nightwish when we met at uni in 2000 and started dating. Almost 24 years together, I wish for our love together to last for a lifetime.
Thank your for reaction with us. Can’t wait to see more with your qualified mentions. There’s much more from NW that will blow you away. The Keyboarder is Toumas, the songwriter. Greetings and live from Germany
Nick, I think NIGHTWISH - Shoemaker will knock your socks off😁 And you absolutely have to listen to Disturbed - Sound of Silence, you'll be shocked too
What happens here is that at first she invites us to enter her comfort zone. She gives us lots of breath, she caresses us in an intimate way, reduces the distance. She does not "sing into our face", as you so fittingly describe. That way we do not "face" her, but we join her by her side, feel her, almost physically touch her. THEN, when she starts to increase her volume, to shout out to the world, she cannot "sing into our face" any more, because we as the listeners are already so linked to her that we face in the same direction and shout out with her instead of having her sing TO us.
I really love watching singers with a classical background, opera in particular, reacting to songs, because they tend to really show in their expressions and movement when they particularly enjoy a voice or note or melody and I find that very endearing and enjoyable!
I wanted to drop in another recommendation, in case you're looking for holiday specials: Floor does a beautiful version of O Holy Night. She sings it in Finnish while being 6 months pregnant. The title is "Floor Jansen Raskasta Joulua - Oi Jouluyö (Official Live Video)", by SpinefarmRec. There is also another video of Floor and Marko doing Ave Maria. And more... Raskasta Joulua is Finnish and means (have a) Heavy Christmas. It's a metal Christmas tour, where the most well known metal musicians play their versions of Christmas carols. It's massively popular in Finland, where metal is regarded as mainstream music. They show the Raskasta Joulua concerts on tv every year now.
Thank you friend, many things in our community were positivelly influenced by our "Nightwish mom" one Ann Waychoff (R.I.P) who allways tried to remind us to be nice and frendly and wellcoming...
Floor Jansen = versatility. That is her super power. Or one of them. Tarja Turunen on the other hand is more like the pony you mentioned. Yes her one trick is amazing and it contributed to Nightwish becoming what it is today, but it gets old.. This coming from a finn who has listened to NW since mid 90s.
She was kind of trapped by their success at the time. I believe this was part of her wanting out, if you listen to her now she is a much more versatile singer, and even if you listen to her more recent versions of the Nightwish songs she chooses to sing them differently again to how she used to and to how Floor currently does.
@mnewm21 sorry but i really strugle to lister her today. Especially live shows. The overly artistic "tricks" with her voice makes it feel like its more about showing off loud/high noises than singing. Freedoms she takes with melodies and a bit annoying pronounsiation doesnt help. I never was a fan, but for my liking she has moved to wrong direction. I have always got this cold flamboyant diva feeling from her, where Floor is the opposite - powerful, but warm and even vulneable. Just a matter of taste though.
@@tonilaitinen5197 no apologies required mate! We all like different things particularly in artistic spaces. That is why there is so much differing entertainment in the world. I don't have a preference between Floor and Tarja I just have songs that I think work better with one or the other and that simply comes down to how they chose to sing them.
If Amadeus Mozart had a metal band, and Floor Jansen, he would have composed something like "An Ocean of Strange Islands". Tuomas Holopainen wrote the song for the last album Yesterwynde. It's classical music and metal: an orchestra, a choir, a metal band, Uilleann Pipes, Floor and Troy all together in perfect harmony. It will blow your mind. Thanks for your reaction! Greetings from The Netherlands ❤
This song from Nightwish is on a Cd from 2003 called The Celtic Circle. Together with a lot of awsome other groups and singers. I used the cd for meditation. Still have it. Still love to listen to it. Norway ❤❤❤
When Tuomas had Tarja He had a Stradivarius When Tuomas had Anette He had a Steinway Tuomas now has Floor He now has the whole freaking Orchestra! That's Emppu on the guitar. Like all of the band, he cam play anything, and everything is in service to the song.
Another great reaction. I have seen countless Nightwish reactions. COUNTLESS! After watching only two of your videos, I put you in my top ten already. It is always fun to watch someone discover Nightwish. I started my journey about two years ago after accidentally watching a reaction to GLS, Wacken 2013. Do me a solid and react to every song from that phenomenal performance, all 15 of um. Thanks in advance. Semper Fi from Wisconsin!
Officially- "Sleeping Sun" is a power ballad that was released in 1999 to coincide with the total solar eclipse that would occur on 11 August. Personally - this is the ultimate deep breathing, relaxation, lullaby that soothes. The lyrics are designed to be repetitive, beautiful, meaningful & allow for space to reflect on life. “After sleeping through a hundred million centuries we have finally opened our eyes on a sumptuous planet, sparkling with color, bountiful with life. Within decades we must close our eyes again. Isn’t it a noble, an enlightened way of spending our brief time in the sun, to work at understanding the universe and how we have come to wake up in it?” Richard Dawkins. (Refer Nightwish catalogue)
You are quickly becoming my favourite reactor. Usually I’m not a big fan of a lot of pauses but your interventions are insightful and informative. Any great singer needs great songs to sing, and keyboard player Tuomas Holopainen, aka the metal Mozart, provides Floor with absolute masterpieces.
I hope you will also check out angry Floor one day to get a bit of a better idea of what she's capable of. Not that this isn't a great choice...because it is! This was the song that solidified my love for this band back in 1999. It's been such a ride. Welcome aboard.
@nickhiggsthesinger In your own words, “Yours is an empty hope“ live at Wembley is going to blow your pants off. Here‘s hoping you‘ll check that one out, I‘m really enjoying your reactions.
This was the first Nightwish song I heard back when Tarja was still the lead singer of the band so it still remains one of my favorites. That being said I love this version equally ♥️. Sadly I didn't have the fortune to watch them play this song live with Tarja, but during the endless forms most beautiful tour I was lucky enough to be able to hear Floor performing it live.
You should look and listen to their song/show The Greatest show on earth, it's about the birth of the earth, its evolution and goes in several chapters. It's amazing..... 👇👇👇 NIGHTWISH - The Greatest Show on Earth (with Richard Dawkins) (OFFICIAL LIVE) It's based on The book 👇👇👇 The Greatest Show on Earth: The Evidence for Evolution is a 2009 book by British biologist Richard Dawkins, which was released on 3 September 2009 in the UK and on 22 September 2009 in the US. It sets out the evidence for biological evolution, and is Dawkins's 10th book, following his best-selling critique of religion The God Delusion (2006) and The Ancestor's Tale (2004), which traces human ancestry back to the dawn of life. Then you should look at this, it's really amazing, Floor's high note in the end is for real (a bit lower, but with a microphone in the hand), the original one is recorded and a lay over. Look and listen to this amazing duet 👇👇 Floor Jansen & Henk Poort - Phantom Of The Opera | Beste Zangers 2019
Considering that this song took about half an hour, he should make food and drinks to react and analyse everything in that song and we all need few hours sitting time.... :D
Lara and Floor is my personal favorite singers. Floor did a homerun with "Adagio". Lara did a Grand Slam. Amazing women. Thank you for reacting to Nightwish. Cheers from a finn in Sweden.
I suggest checking out Tarja's version of this song too, even if it's on your own time. I generally prefer Floor singing Nightwish songs from all eras, but Sleeping Sun is one of the few (along with Nemo) where I think Tarja nails it the best. And I'm saying this as a person who cried when hearing Floor sing this song live.
Hmmm, this is a good excuse to listen to some more Nightwish 😅, to check if I agree. I've been very unlucky with tickets since Floor is with Nightwish: as in, never got through the ticketline until it was sold out. I cried when I heard my ex got 2 tickets and went with his new gf - when she didn't even know the band and I've introduced him to Nightwish. Anyway, point being> I have only been able to watch her on video 😢. (Makes it harder to compare). For me, Nemo and Over the Hills and Far Away remained in the Tarja box so far, to my surprise actually because I loved her sound so much with NW's music, but Floor is just that amazing. Anyway, now that I've seen the entire clip and combine that with my Tarja memory, I'm going to conclude & agree that Tarja's voice is better for this song. At least in the way I prefer it. I'll compare with my cd's as well, but yeah... 3 songs in the Tarja box.
I actually can listen to a song for the first time with you because I discovered Nightwish through your video about Ghost Love Score!! (which I know by heart now.) Listening to this one for the first time with you 🫶 #newfan
Amazing reaction and I don't watch the concert, I watch your face and the feelings that transpire with every Nightwish reaction. It's a pleasure yo watch you react to Floor over and over. You've gained a fan for life. Keep them videos coming, don't forget to react to Romanticide.... it will blow your socks off!!!!
That’s awesome reaction 🎉 You’ve made my day 😊 Not only because it is one of my favourite songs from Nightwish repertoire but also because you’ve said something which I’ve felt immediately when I’ve first listened to it - when she sings/belts „suuuuuuun” at the end it really scratches my brain too and makes tingles throughout my whole body 🙉 What an epic song!
Classical and Rappers becoming MetalHeads, and MetalHeads enjoying rap and classical. It's a time of reactors enjoying the beauty of different genres. The Black Pegasus was the factual reason Ronnie Radke got together with Tech Nine. Who knows what else can happen with music?! This is absolutely beautiful.
They are one of the most versatile bands of all time. If you ever get to "greatest show on earth" you will appreciate the entire band . I know you do, but this is a song of evolution that show cases each member of the band.
Lanternlight from their newest album, many have suggested this - and I totally concur. There are only official or lyric videos from their newest album Yesterwynde (pronounced as wind, as in winding up a music box or toy) as they are currently taking a touring break, but the album just released in the latter part of September this year. For sure check out Dead Boys Poem Live from Buenos Aires - its a wonderful slower song with beautiful lyrics - she is so skilled at making one feel the emotional aspect of the song, even through a screen after so many years - it amazes me everytime. And I must also suggest the lyric video for Shoemaker - they do have some live shows of this song too, but its worth it to do the lyric video to know the words, and bc the video itself is absolutely stunning. Could do that and then a live performance, for a kind of compare and contrast to mixed/mastered album vs live performance. Its your call! I'm here for whatever and whenever where Nightwish is involved! Great reaction! Really appreciate your thoughts and analysis! Blessings to you from a humble member of the Nightwish Army, Deep South (Alabama) division. Rock on my friend 🤘🏻😊🎶
I remember this song playing on tv when i was young, sang by Tarja. It was so beautiful, and Floor makes the song beautiful too. I'd be interested to hear your take on this song, but with Tarja!
Maybe it's because I'm 53, but most of the metal heads I've known knew and loved classical music. Moussorgsky, Wagner, Fauré, Mozart, Holst, Pergolesi, ... These are very known composers I've listened for hours. The link between classic and metal was obvious, I think the
love this reaction. I discovered Nightwish just 3 years ago. I am 65. I called their music Life Metal as opposed to Death metal. What a trip! Greetings from the Canadian NWA. Quebec division.
When somebody asks me what stile of music I like, i always answer, that in every genre i find something nice. Metal have very big variety, from very powerful fast or slow melodic singing to very dark growling... I like when combing 2 different, opposite things like very rough and very smooth.
Love your in depth reaction - a truly great song to check out every member’s talent is “Devil and the Deep Dark Ocean”. It’s like a rock musical of sorts and highlight’s both Marko (the bassist) and Floor. I believe the performance to check out is 2018 Nightwish Decades Live at Buenos Aires.
Thank you for your kind words about the metal community! We appreciate when someone, especially with a classical background, is able to honor the art behind the noise 😃Then you are always welcome to join and bang your head with us 🤘 Just remember to re-hydrate after all these Floorgasms! Subscribed to follow your journey, she's my favourite singer, too. Unique talent and one of the most likeable people on this planet.
Tuomas is a master in writing music for the band he is working with. Sleeping sun is a song written for Tarjas voice. Not that Floor doesn’t bring it well, she’s fantastic. But check out the live version with Tarja on vocals. Tarja has a more operatic style of singing. Storytime is also a great example. It was written when Anette was the lead singer of nightwish. She is a more poppy singer and that song matches her perfectly. But on the other hand Floor sings that song so well. Of course i am biased here because i have an absolute crush on Floor. Not only for her voice, but for her personality. She is just beautyfull 😊
If you are now a new metal fan - you would also like some of the songs of EPICA (another metal band - also with female singer & friend of Floor - its Simone). Try this one: EPICA feat. APOCALYPTICA - Rivers (Live at The AFAS LIVE) By the way: APOCALYPTICA is a cello metal band... You will love this performance....
I listened this song hundred of times now... and if you like this, you will also like: Dead Boys Poem (live from Buenos Aires) and also: Nemo (live from Wembley 2015) - a little bit different from the point of style, but also refreshing...
The keyboard player is Tuomas Holopainen. Founder of Nightwish. Writer and composer of Nightwish songs. True Genious! This song is originally from one of their earliest albums from 90's.
I love your videos. My recommendations for you are 2 songs from Ayreon. 1. The day when the world breaks down and the 2. Everybody dies. These two pieces includes Floor Jansen and also many other gorgeous singers and musicians. You will love it 🤘
Emppu Vuorinen is the guitarist. I love the way he builds his solos out of what he was playing in the harmony mixed with Floor's melody. Tuomas smiles, I really love when the two of them take the song out into Mahavishnu Orchestra tight, high velocity duet technique. The last original Nightwish members.
One commented on Floor and said: It`s like she is singing to YOU....not to a crowd, but to you personally. I often feel it like that that, I have to say 🥰
Buy me a coffee to show your support for my channel! buymeacoffee.com/nickhiggssinger
You need to listen to Nightwish song titled :
" LanternLight "
This song is a masterpiece! Talk about having Floorgasms....this song will bring tears to your I eyes!
I would love to see you react to Epica:s song Sancta Terra, the live version (featuring Floor Jansen)

I've actually learned a bit about Tuomas since this video was filmed - what an AMAZING musician and artist. Blown away by his talent and artistry
I am so glad you've done your research. I think he's a musical genius. One of those people who feels music to his core.
There's a reason he's referred to as "Metal Mozart".
@@MicheleNicole I don't think, Pip Williams the arranger of the London Philharmonic Orchestra said so on video. Genius. Good enough for me. 🙂
You would love shoemaker ❤️.. or devil and the deep dark ocean
Yes please!
@@wingspan2407You beat me to it😂
I concur

He's already filmed his reaction to Shoemaker (and also Poet and the Pendulum). Poet will be released first, then Shoemaker in late November
If you like 'slow Nightwish' check out their latest single 'Lanternlight'. Talk about stunning ...
100% occur. This is the song of the year 2024 to me and up even higher than sleeping sun.

Why does Floor give us those feelings magically - because she sings exactly how she is.
my favorite all time song
It brings me to tears every time. It‘s sad but uplifting, it‘s wonderful.
Yep, my song of 2024 too, and bearing in mind that my favourite artist of the last 30 years also released a new album this year and has some great songs on that album too, it was up against some stiff competition.
Incredible song, I am obsessed by it. It stirs up my feelings like no other song.
Emppu is one of my favourite guitarists, he can shred and be super fast etc but instead serves the song instead of his ego. He does it all with a smile too.
When I see Emppus smile, I want to hug Him so much. :D I need friends like Emppu.
Bring him a Corona! @@bodresz
If you want a video that shows her variety and a unique experience; I'd recommend "Your is an empty hope"
Yessss! 🫶Wembley version
I was thinking a range shot of Floor for me has to be Devil and the Deep Dark Ocean, live from Buenos Aires 2018
@@LadyFrickinda Wembley, yes.
Yes. I think Yours is an Empty Hope, Romantacide, 7 Days to the Wolves, Devil & The Deep
Dark Ocean etc - just to see the “heavier” side of Nightwish too.
Then something fun, I Want Mu Tears Back, live in Beunos Aires, or Last Ride of The Day - Masters of Rock show.
Then, well there is a whole Nightwish catalogue with a song for every occasion, every emotion… 😅
I concur!
For slow and beeing wowed, listen to dead boys poem live at Buenos Aires ❤
Boy oh boy he won't survive that one.😅
But also then give the studio version a listen. On stream or not. The outro to me really adds something to the experience.
My top 6 are
1. The Poet and the Pendulum from Wembley 2015
2. Song of Myself from Wacken 2013
3. 7 Days to the Wolves from Wembley 2015
4. Devil and the Deep Dark Ocean from Buenos Aires 2018
4. (equal) Dead Boys Poem from Buenos Aires 2018
5. Weak Fantasy from Tampere 2015
Emppu Vuorinen makes the guitar sing.
Agreed! He really does.
Worm thing is a DNA double helix, part of the evolution theme of their Endless Forms Most Beautiful album tour.
If you want the biggest number of great European metal singers in the one place at once..... look up the Aryeon Universe. There's at least 20 of them, stunning musicians and great music. (Yes, Floor is in that too :) And her sister....)
Definitely should listen to Aryeon😃
Ayreon (Arjen Lucassen its father, another Dutchie who even towers over Floor:) does not try to build a permanent group, hes more like "project" for which he gathers best artists he can get. Usually on album only, nevertheless they had some Live "events" ...
@@SYNtemp he has another coming up, in September 2025. Tilburg again, of course. And sold out immediately, of course.
@@AndreSomers So we can only wait for the recording :)
Right now he's is giving drum lessons by having one student stay at his house and learn in his studio next door
Guitar: Emppu Vuorinen.
I love symphonic metal and classical/opera music. It was because of Epica that I started studying classical/opera music... I love it so much!
I liked what you said that it is not about comparing, both can be good, and both are good. You nailed it!
If you like slow and sublime, try The Islander live at Tampere 2015. Here Marko Hietala performs an extended solo.
And noteworthy: it’s one of the very few Nightwish songs not written by Tuomas.
Romanticide is one of my favorite when i started listening to Nightwish- so many too choose from- enjoy watching your reactions- floor also has solo songs too- keep em coming!
I don't have to hear the song for the first time, the 1000th time it is just as amazing.

Absolute. i were 30 at that Time, and it WAS once in an Lifetime. Residing in Nürberg:)
Thx for putting it in such great Words, Mate.
She pours so much emotion in it that at one time even Floor herself could not keep it together (post-Pandemic, post-cancer-scare (6 days), post-operation (14 days))
It was madness for her to be on stage at all, but she wanted it all return to 'normal' so badly.
Your Nightwish journey has just begun. Enjoy!
Greetings from the Netherlands.
You must check out Lanternlight it will absolutely blow you away. It's from the new album Yesterwynde. Great reaction btw !
Thank you for you great reaction ! Floor 4 ever ! Greetings from NWA . Sweden
Great reaction video. I'm a fan of classical music, but discovered Nightwish last year, just after I turned 80.
Emppu is the guitarist, he's up there with best. All are masters of their instruments
Thank your for reaction with us. Can’t wait to see more with your qualified mentions. There’s much more from NW that will blow you away. The Keyboarder is Toumas, the songwriter. Greetings and live from Germany
Tuomas. Small typo there.
I really love watching singers with a classical background, opera in particular, reacting to songs, because they tend to really show in their expressions and movement when they particularly enjoy a voice or note or melody and I find that very endearing and enjoyable!
this is how a Queen turns out to be a Goddess
Thank you for such an amazing and informative reaction .
Metal has many sub-genres. Some bands fit snugly into their assigned genre, others create new ones
I so love your knowledge, passion, and enthusiasm here it’s refreshing!!❤❤❤
Amazing reaction! Thank you
I wanted to drop in another recommendation, in case you're looking for holiday specials: Floor does a beautiful version of O Holy Night.
I believe that Floor can silence, a room full of crying and/or screaming babies, in seconds with her soothing voice!
Thank you friend, many things in our community were positivelly influenced by our "Nightwish mom" one Ann Waychoff (R.I.P) who allways tried to remind us to be nice and frendly and wellcoming...
I really miss interacting with her. She was a delight.
Norway ❤❤❤
When Tuomas had Tarja
He had a Stradivarius
When Tuomas had Anette
He had a Steinway
Tuomas now has Floor
He now has the whole freaking Orchestra!
Isn’t it a noble, an enlightened way of spending our brief time in the sun, to work at understanding the universe and how we have come to wake up in it?”
Richard Dawkins.
I'm gonna put this in the most technical term I can find.
She's just special!
I hope you will also check out angry Floor one day to get a bit of a better idea of what she's capable of. Not that this isn't a great choice...because it is! This was the song that solidified my love for this band back in 1999. It's been such a ride. Welcome aboard.
Will do - thanks so much!!
I concur - until you’ve experienced “angry Floor” - you’re still limiting the palette she’s capable of!
Yours Is an Empty Hope - live at Wembley 2015, or her previous band ReVamp - Disdain, live at Graspop 2010 😊
Please react to Stabat Mater Dolorosa feat Floor Yansen! Thankx!
To see other sides to Floor, 7 Days to the Wolves, live at Wembley, and from the same gig, Poet & the Pendulum ❤️❤️
@@robertalp3878 he mentioned Poet and the Pendulum is coming soon when he premiered this video.
You should look and listen to their song/show The Greatest show on earth, it's about the birth of the earth, its evolution and goes in several chapters.
It's amazing..... 👇👇👇
NIGHTWISH - The Greatest Show on Earth (with Richard Dawkins) (OFFICIAL LIVE)
It's based on The book 👇👇👇
The Greatest Show on Earth: The Evidence for Evolution is a 2009 book by British biologist Richard Dawkins, which was released on 3 September 2009 in the UK and on 22 September 2009 in the US.
Look and listen to this amazing duet 👇👇

Lara and Floor is my personal favorite singers. Floor did a homerun with "Adagio". Lara did a Grand Slam. Amazing women. Thank you for reacting to Nightwish. Cheers from a finn in Sweden.
You are right! But even the hardest metal music can go with classic music.. Epica has proven that many times now :)
I agree, this is one of the few Tarja songs
Totally it’s a Tarja’s song
PS. If you want more of Floor the Storyteller, listen to this .... ua-cam.com/video/M68pe4a_9zk/v-deo.html
That’s awesome reaction 🎉 You’ve made my day 😊
Not only because it is one of my favourite songs from Nightwish repertoire but also because you’ve said something which I’ve felt immediately when I’ve first listened to it - when she sings/belts „suuuuuuun” at the end it really scratches my brain too and makes tingles throughout my whole body 🙉
What an epic song!

You could and should react to all Nightwish songs. Any of the suggestions we give you is really worth it and we will be here for the reaction.
I love Marcos baseline in this song. It moves so beautifully along with the singing!
I simply just love your reactions.
Guy at keyboard is Finnish Mozard called Tuomas Holopainen, hes mastermind behind all nightwish songs.
Simply majestic- from the walk to the mic
That slow walk right? Amazing before she even starts singing
Maybe it's because I'm 53, but most of the metal heads I've known knew and loved classical music. Moussorgsky, Wagner, Fauré, Mozart, Holst, Pergolesi, ... These are very known composers I've listened for hours. The link between classic and metal was obvious, I think the
Medusa turns you to stone, Floor just completely melts your heart (and the rest of you) ❤
love this reaction.
Such an excellent song. All 3 Nightwish singers do amazing versions of it.
For variety of Floor's singing, check out Yours is an empty hope, Wembley version.
The Keyboarder is Tuomas the songwriter and component of all the Songs from Nightwish
I concur
Thank you for your kind words about the metal community! We appreciate when someone, especially with a classical background, is able to honor the art behind the noise 😃Then you are always welcome to join and bang your head with us 🤘
Just remember to re-hydrate after all these Floorgasms!
Oh YASSSSS honey!!!!! More of QUEEN Jansen!!!!!
Ohhhh yeah !!!!

Tienes que escuchar AYREON!!!
I love your videos. My recommendations for you are 2 songs from Ayreon. 1. The day when the world breaks down and the 2. Everybody dies. These two pieces includes Floor Jansen and also many other gorgeous singers and musicians. You will love it 🤘
Floor is the Medusa that turns people to Rock🤘 instead of stone.
🫶🤘
Yes, Floor the best discover in a lifetime ❤
Emppu Vuorinen is the guitarist. I love the way he builds his solos out of what he was playing in the harmony mixed with Floor's melody. Tuomas smiles, I really love when the two of them take the song out into Mahavishnu Orchestra tight, high velocity duet technique. The last original Nightwish members.
Great reaction, other opera singers react far too rarely to Nightwish, this is what I was looking for. Each song will blow your mind, believe me.
One commented on Floor and said: It`s like she is singing to YOU....not to a crowd, but to you personally. I often feel it like that that, I have to say 🥰
