Best sounding BMW M5 ever!!! I only removed the 4 mufflers left the Cat's and resonator as is. No drone when driving the car at all, when driving slow you nearly notice the exhaust but when hitting it it turns in to an absolute racing monster.
With removing the muffler you will not get any messages pop up. You do not change anything on your emissions. I left the Catalyzers in plus my resonator. I payed 360 dollar all in for this mod, it really worth it. I would not recommend to buy a "sport" muffler, because the engine sound is just hard to beat. Its so awesome driving around like this!

Thanks man. A lot of people in my area don't know what an M5 is, but when they take a trip with my car and showed them what you can do with it PLUS how it sounds, everybody is blown away.

I had my mufflers deleted on my 2010 e60 m5. I love the pops and cracks. However, I'm debating if I should remove my resonators. I don't mind the drone. Would just like to increase the volume. Nice mod bud nice e60 m5 from a fellow beast owner 👍
Hi Dr Mantis, I am not sure if removing the resonator will increase the loudness of the exhaust. I am quite surprised that you don't think its loud enough :-) LOL But I am sure if you straight pipe it from the headers, you will not drive by anybody unnoticed. The bad thing would be the fault codes that pop up due to the missing cat's. If you decide to take the resonator out of the equation, ;et me know if its even better or not. M5 is a beat and should be heard !!!! :-)
Bas Everts couldn't agree with you more on how the s85 should be heard. I've been on the m5 forums researching about the resonators. Some members says that the sound is atrociously loud at high rpms with no noticeable power loss. Power loss would be my only concern. I believe one can experience power loss with a primary cat delete. I'm leaving the cats alone lol
Is this literally just cutting the back boxes out and straight piping? Sounds absolutely amazing just as good as 2k systems
Are you still liking it? I just picked up a m5 and need to do something to the exhaust. Just scared it will be ridiculously loud on the highway cruising at 70mph...
It's not too bad on the highway if you just drop the mufflers. If you pull the resonators it starts to get annoying.

I just did this to mine, cold starts are very loud....a little embarrassing imo. Under load acceleration sounds great.
I notice some drone at around 2300 rpms (55-60mph)

Just this past week i did what I call a "1/2 muffler delete." I didn't want it too loud so I had the shop take out 2 of the 4 mufflers back there - one from each side. It's a good sound now and it was only $150 bucks and very easy to go back to stock if I ever want to sell it.....
But let's get real...sell this car???? they'll have to pry it from my cold dead hands one day....lol

oh yeah its way better, you won't regret this. My car is slightly loud during a cold start but as soon as the car starts to heat up it a perfect sound. Enjoying it every day :-)
