CHEAP E60 M5 Exhaust Options = Resonators, Cats and/or Muffler Delete?!

- So in efforts to enhance the ultimate driving machine, I opted to go through a number of Exhaust iterations on my 2006 BMW E60 M5. You'll get an idea of the loudness and my overall feedback between the variations. The next exhaust video will have flyby's included!

I have an identical, E60 M5 in interlagos blue with 117k in my garage. I have had the muffler delete since i bought it and couldn't stand it due to the drone. If you are willing to put some money in I highly recommend the FI exhaust. Chris, from FI, is second to none in terms of cus9mer service, his exhaust is a piece of art, and you get an option for both a muffled yet aggressive sound with valves closed, or, push the button for an open exhaust that sounds amazing when you want. My M5 is now throwing codes for o2 sensors so I've purchased infiniti equal length headers which should be here this month. Happy to post exhaust notes or provide additional detail if needed. If you cut your exhaust make sure you keep your hangers! Those things are very expensive to replace if you want to have another exhaust option down the road.
These v10 motors sound awesome. Appreciate you doing more content - I love foxbdies but there is only so many times I can watch someone do a base ideal reset lol. Keep up the great content!
LMAO! Imagine being the guy that constantly has to do base idle resets! Messing with this v10 is an escape from reality!
I think just the muffler delete is good. Stays slightly aggressive but not to loud at low speed, but really amps things up on acceleration. That’s been my experience.
It sounds pretty awesome w/o the resonators kida like an F1 car. But I think just the muffler delete could be the best compromise for cruising.
These cars never sound good without mufflers. What makes the S85 sound great is high RPM "singing" when you get over 8,000 RPM.
No one ever says, "Damn!" when they hear a S85 cold start (in any exhaust configuration). The "Daaaayum!"s come from the high speed passes that sound like F1 cars. This isn't a low-end car. It's a high speed car.
@cqhall I agree however to get to the top end you're going to have to deal with the low end first. Hence my statement at the beginning of the video "I may have gone too far" lol
@@cqhallsame with coyotes, cold start they sound ok depending on exhaust setup, but when thier screaming at 8k rpm is when the magic happens

A little bit raspy. But love the sound. I’ve heard louder.
I like just the muffler delete, gutted might be too much. Also enjoy the foxbody and bmw content.

Is it our age or maturity? LOL I had long tubes, no cats to stock muffler on my CTS-V and it sounded great but with the cutouts open it was ridiculous and annoying but my girlfriend always wanted them open! I want to hear my exhaust but I also want to hear the radio and have a conversation with someone. Love the car hows the MPG on a 12 cyl?

IMHO, while I appreciate the E60 content, you are focusing on the wrong stuff. Murdering it out, muffler deletes, etc... are what the kids do to cars like these as they trash them. This car is the size of a modern M3. Consider it a NA V10 M3 with an F1 engine that can run 200+ MPH...stock.
If you want BMW enthusiasts to follow, you'll have to restore the car to OEM+ status. Make it better than it was when you got it. Save it.
Further, the Dinan exhaust with stock everything else is the sweet spot for these cars. This will never have the AMG M156 cold start and grumble. It just won't. This is a highway screamer. It sings when you cross over 8,000 RPM. Focus on that.
If you really want to get the views: Fully restore the interior, fully harden the engine and drivetrain. Add 2/3 piece step lip wheels (not black. black is played-out). Low but not slammed. Remove the tint. Brighten the car, don't darken it. Blue with bright silver and chrome hits hard. Blue and black does not.

It's a clapped out 2006 with 208k miles with paint work on every panel. In my opinion it's the e60 m5 version of the Sh*tbox Fox. What you don't know is that I have a 2010 e60 m5 manual on the way which will be worthy of the things you're talking about... but yes it's my channel and I will do what I want. I don't make videos for subs or for money as UA-cam doesn't pay sh*t. I do it for those that want to watch and if they don't want to then that's completely fine. I am not a purist and never will be.
