It’s the first July 15th that it rained. 😭
Someone said on another forum that it also rained (maybe just a shower) in Episode 7, their July 15 big fight. 😮
Robs sensing something horrible was gonna happen THAT early was kinda insane. Most people pick up on it when she’s biking but not in the cafe.
I got the vibes when he looked outside the window and noticed it was going to rain. Something about the greyness of the scene rang some bells too.
It never rained on any of the other July 15th. They mention something about rain on the 15th in the first ep. I knew something was about to happen 😢

Some idiot spoiled it for me, so i knew something was gonna happen to Emma, but i still got that eerie feeling when Dex was in the cafe too. Something about the scene was just... off.

There's a movie with Anne Hathaway from a couple years ago and I watched it and it destroyed me in every way possible but I watched the show in hopes they would change the ending... They didn't, if anything it was worse because I got to see more of them anyways, welcome to the club

For me this series feels very real...life isn't linear, it isn't fair and we don't always get an happy end. I just turned 36, and time flies for sure! Last week I was nineteen and my future was open, and then life happend .... My father died, I became a mother, I got a divorce... A big part of being alive is constant change and adapting.
I feel that!
Last week i was 19, living in Florida, engaged, dreaming of a huge happy family, then i blink and i'm 38, living back in UK, un-employed, never got married, had one kid and live in a village cut off from all friends/family with only my teen for company.
I'll blink again and my teen will be grown and moved out, and who knows where i'll be - i don't mean that in a depressing way necessarily, just that no-one knows where they'll be in even one year from now, so much can happen
Just wait until you are 51 like me lol

This episode broke me but the last one destroyed me! Everything was going so well, they had just agreed to have a kid and then that happens. It's so unfair. Emma deserved better. So sad. I could not stop crying. 😢

The movie version was terrible. It was too Hollywood for a British story. The show depicted a more realistic view of club life in the 80s/90s, the music, everything was quintessentially British. The show did not pander to American audience like it did with the movie. FYI, this episode was written by the author of One Day, David Nicholls.

Yeah....so next episode I'd advise in having water, tissues, your dessert of choice, and perhaps a cold compress on hand. It's been a minute since I felt like someone ripped out my heart just to hit me over the head with it over and over until I watched the last episode. It's rough and beautiful, but mostly rough.

I absolutely love shows like this that don't follow the "happy ever after" ending. Happy endings are far too unrealistic and it irritates me. I sunk into such incredible depression in my late-20s because i couldn't find my "happy ever after" as portrayed in every single show/movie i ever watched as a child, in my teens and my early 20s. It's such a huge, devastating lie.
The first movie i ever saw that didn't follow the traditional "happy ever after" was "the age of innocence" and it completely changed my view point and helped me to see that all the other movies were purely fantasy.
There needs to be more shows/movies like this!
I wanna see tears in this episode and next.

I’m gonna break all over again, esp seeing them with his daughter and them not being able to do that with their own so devastating, and the way it’s directed is so good from the time jump of his daughter laying between them in bed to no child in the bed between them is so sad but great subtle foreshadowing and this series is better than I thought it would be for Netflix tbh might even be better than the movie imo

You're not wrong to have a weird feeling about that scene with Dex and the cashier (Maddy). I think they threw that in as an Easter egg for the people who read the book, because even though it doesn't happen in the show (thank goodness), that is actually who Dex ends up with at the end of the book. It would have been VERY out of place here and I'm glad they didn't go that way. But you're spot on to have clocked it!

Yea this episode shocked me. I had seen the movie before but I didn’t pay much attention to it then. So initially I was so mad cause it took so long for them to get to a good place & finally be together. I was just thinking “man this is not fair!!” How could that happen!? Then I thought well maybe she’s still gunna be alive but won’t be able to have kids…. Smh

Sorry but that movie was trash. Just pandering to American Audiences and the lead actress had the worst Leeds accent it was actually off putting. The series is much more authentic to the book and give the characters more depth
