Thank you so much for this video. Your message reminds me of what my former therapist said: Anxiety or fear is the overestimation of the threat and underestimation of your ability to handle that threat. She said to me: There is no situation or event that you cannot handle or accept. So true.

When I was a child I always asked, "What if..." to nearly everything. I was in a constant state of fear growing up but my parents thought it was cute with all the questioning. I wish they'd gotten me help because I also had horrible OCD about praying I would go to heaven if I died suddenly. It was a verbally abusive household and my parents argued a lot and they pitting siblings against each other. Now as an adult I see that I never got over asking "what if..." and I still do it and am living in constant background fear. My cortisol is through the roof and I'm depressed and scared to get out of any and all comfort zones. It's a sad place to live when you ask what if constantly and your brain always gives negative answers and can't believe in positive results.

Yes! Exactly, there is a predictable exit strategy to this earth life, we are all gonna die and its harder on survivors than the one that dies. We can all handle all human experience because we’d have to deal with anything that comes our way, even death.

    Hi!
First thank you for great and informative explanation!
I have been wondering why we are for example listening music and watching movies that trigger sad and anxious feelings but somehow also act as some sort of self help tool.. After this explanation about limbic systems combination with experienced control I am now wondering coul this psychological mechanism be behind that experience also?
I hope I managed to make my point clear enough, as English is not my first language.

Great discussion. A lot of new insight gained. Thank you.
Once I was driving down a road at sunset. There was a deer standing frozen with fright in the road. Fortunately it jumped out of the way. Fear is meant to alert us to act to avoid danger. It is not meant to freeze us in inaction and get harmed. That's why I appreciated the example of actually walking the boy through his fear to a point of understanding. Helpful imagery. Thanks.
