Wow....Dr. Paul, I absolutely resonate with your excellent rapport with your audience. I wish you had been around when I was young, but you're probably younger than me at 57 lol....I had been a hairdresser for a long long time listening to everyone's troubles and basically becoming a lay-therapist. I have a lot of empathy and acuity with people, through my own experiences, so much so that through my own suffering with anxiety, I decided to train as an NLP Therapist, Life Coach and Naturopathic Practitioner. I can not get enough of your videos, you have a wonderful charm, charisma and genuine humbleness about you. I have raved about your videos to anyone who will listen, your explanatory, clear, calm presentations are truly uplifting and have taught me lots of tips to add to my own repertoire. Please don't ever stop posting, your wife and yourself are magnificent! 👍💕

Venus77x, thank you for your kind words. I have heard the same thing from so many women about hairdressers. Isn't it interesting where your journey has taken you, to help others in a way you probably never thought about. You are awesome.

Great video. I learned in English how our brain works. Now I know that breathing practices help to control stress. I always felt that physical activity helps Me to control stress. After sports I always feel good.

Exercise is so important not just for our bodies, but for our brains.

Brain vs Mind; Organ in body vs spirit, the you inside the body. You Can Handle It. You Got This. It is hard. I get that! People who have been tortured...and they handled it. Believe you can handle absolutely anything that happens to you? What would happen to your fear? Deminished...right! Thanks for this vid; 🇨🇦 🌈

Wow. Just found your channel (I lost my Mom and my Grandmother subsequently in '18 and have had some periods of struggle) and I'm digging your overall demeanor and well-balanced outlook. Strong fusing of psychology as an art form and its basis in scientific study. Awesome content; I look forward to getting up to speed on all the rest✌

Actually the stuff that happened to me was so bad that I don't remember very much of it. What I do remember I have no emotion in connection with it. I feel like if I tried to deal with things, counseling, I'm afraid I would just go crazy and never come back. Someone told me once that she doesn't remember what happened to her either and that she was going to keep it that way. Is that the right way to think about it?

That is a good question, Sandi Wyszynski. With others, I have had them use a calming stroke on their arm. Slow movements up and down the arm, while repeating a calming phrase. It has helped.

Another Hack...... that is quick , easy & Effective............ when you were in the fight or flight mode, sucking on a hard candy, a cough drop or even chewing gum will help to get you out of that flight or fight mode. It is a chemical reaction set to your brain because you are creating saliva in your mouth which is a primitive response to rest and eat. So you kind of trick your brain. It truly works has saved me several times and I have shared it with so many people. I like it because it’s simple and everyone can do it. Think about it when you’re watching a baseball football or any other sport and you see the coaches or the team players chewing on their tobacco or chewing gum, it is all for stress relief, right??? All I know is it works. Another trick, which I do not know the scientific reason behind it, I only write it off somebody else’s support group post. Is gargling several times in a row. I don’t know how it works, But it does work! Not as well as the candy trick but it’s still in tool for your toolbox! And yes the breathing works wonders....
