I just want to thank you Dr. Fung After having brain surgery twice last year. I knew I had to get the rest of my health in check. I read the obesity code and followed everything in the book. As of yesterday at my doctor's visit. My A1c went from and 14 to a 6.2. I'm no longer taking med I was on 3. And my blood pressure is now normal. So off 4 meds. And I lost about 35 pounds. Thank you so much.
As a complete T-8 paraplegic, your knowledge has helped more than I can describe. With a neurogenic bowel, the typical 3 meal diet sabotages your system. Fasting has given me a new lease on life by dropping 50lbs and establishing a better relationship with food. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, Doc 💙💪♿️
Kudos to you for listening, having an open mind to hear perspectives that weren't taught in medical school, and to actually share that knowledge with your patients.
It's SO nice to see an MD here! I think you are the first one I've seen, sadly. Please tell your colleagues about all you've learned and please send them in Dr. Fung's direction. It must be awesome for you to be able to save people's lives now instead of just watching them get sicker and sicker. Welcome to the club! :)
I had a stroke about ten years ago(now 58). Family doctor put me on cholesterol pills. I have been following Dr. Fung's advice for many years now and as a result was told by my neurologist and cardiologist to stop taking the pills. Been doing OMAD for two years and low carb diet for about five. So this isn't only about diabetes. Thank you Jason.
I'm sorry about your stroke. My brother had a stroke about 11 years ago and now lives with us. I'm having such good results with my weight loss following Dr. Fung that I started my brother fasting and now he's doing OMAD. He's losing weight and I'm hoping (praying) his cognitive function will improve. Did you experience that? I'm glad you are doing well now. Thanks
@@JohnsonNestorFamily I'm sorry about your brother. I was lucky and completely recovered. Later on my mother suffered one and was paralyzed for the rest of her life. She was lost most of the time after that. Life is hard sometimes. Keep your head up.
Reason why is it works with any diet. It forces the body to go into ketosis which is key. We eat so many times per day we don’t ever allow that. Our livers never get low of sugar either because of that.
@J Rose Fasting, along with a sensible diet and exercise is the key. There's nothing magical about what he's promoting, as he's quick to point out himself. It's the fact that simple biohacks that anyone can do can change the trajectory of your life for the better. If you haven't tried any of his methods, give it a legitimate go for a decent amount of time and see how you look and feel. If you do it right, you'll definitely see a prominent change. I do OMAD along with fasted cardio in the morning and fasted weights in the afternoon. No issues and I'm in the best shape of my life. It's all mental.
But isn’t this long term fasting the very definition of anorexia? Lol, I mean look up the word. You can literally be healthy, fit, and lose/maintain weight without fasting lol.

@jacquelinesjournal8470 Yes, it will eventually come down, particularly with extended fasting. I suspect that if I had the will power to fast for an entire week, my diabetes would be completely in remission.
@jackies.diaries Not a problem for me, even though I have a hiatal hernia. I'll get reflux at unpredictable times and double strength antacid will handle for me. You could do either an H2 antihistamine or a PPI regularly if it bothers you every time you fast.
I reversed my T2 diabetes with keto and intermittent fasting 18 months ago. A1c is now 5.4 without meds. It is very much possible to reverse this very nasty disease...
Hi, for how long did you have to fast? and what was your strategy of fasting (2/5 days, 1-0-1 days)? I was diagnosed with T2 Diabetes just 3 months ago?
Hi Christa - fasting is easy for me - but how much to reduce my insulin is the real problem. no doctor wants to me . any advise. i live in Toronto, Canada.
Thanks so much Dr. Fung. At age 67 I was diagnosed diabetic with an A1C of 10.2. I followed your advice on fasting, no sugar, low carbs and exercising and went down to a 6.5 A1C in 3 months. My doctor was surprised and stated that I didn’t need the prescribed drug if I didn’t want to take it just keep doing what I have been doing. I advised her that I never used the metformin because of my life style change. The foods I eat are very enjoyable and I don’t plan on going back to the bad ways of eating. I feel so much better now. Thanks again!
excellent ! However, have a look at Metformin again, lots of research o n it supports the idea that although it only reduces blood sugar by a small it has protective effects on the heart, anti -cancer properties, and is even being studied for its ability to promote longevity. There are many non -diabetics who take it for these benefits.

Yes! Great news for you. It’s difficult to stand up against what mainstream medicine teaches us, but you can do it! God knows what you need. Ask Him to guide you to more good info and help you. Blessings…
I was told I have T2D at the ER. I didn't have the symptom so I never knew until I was hospitalized. I followed the ADA diet, my nutritionist, dietitions, and my PCP. All were high carb diet that made my blood glucose spike up to 195+++. All the foods on their menu are whole grains, sugar, rice, bread, seed fats, process foods, and fruits that T2D should avoid. Not good!! Now I do low carb diet, lchf keto diet, and IF(18/4). I know my body cannot support high carb diet.
Thank you for continuing to educate people on current treatment modalities. Given that your expertise lies in nephrology, I'm curious about the lack of information relating to fasting /ketosis in non-diabetic, non-dialysis CKD. There are lots of us out here and would benefit from your education and experience.

Hello Dr, Fung. I am in Texas and just been diagnosed as a Type 2 diabetic, The Dr did not give me any medicine, what he said was he want me to get the book the Diabetic Code by Jason Fung. So I'm here looking all your videos and learning so much thank you
When I found out I was T2 diabetic my Dr. put me on metformin. I started losing weight in which I did not need to lose any weight because I was already skinny. So I stopped taking the metformin. My A1C was 15.5 and dropped to 6.2. The doctor said whatever you are doing keep it up. I was diagnosed with neuropathy. Finally, a treatment worked for me. I slept better at night whereas I would only get 2 hours a sleep a day. I could barely walk, sit down, stand in one place and could not drive. The only thing I could do is ly down on the bed. Although, I have a place on my own. I had to move in with my parents. My Mom would cook my meals and bring the meals to me. My Dad would pick up my medicine and he gave me a walker in which that help my balance and strengthen my legs. The pain was so chronic that I was ready to go to my Maker. I would not wish this on my worst enemy.. I am so thankful for my family, friends and loving people that supported me on this journey.
I am also a lean diabetic. The doctor prescribed Metformin but I refuse to take it because I read that it is prescribed for people trying to lose weight. I’m 5’6 and my normal weight is 118 lbs. I have been struggling for years to lower my blood sugar with diet and exercise. I tried intermittent fasting and low carb but had to stop fasting as I was not able to consume enough calories and started losing weight. Low carb is helping but it is extremely difficult to maintain my weight without carbs. And here is the real kicker. One day my blood sugar will be lower, so I repeat the same meals and exercise the next day but my blood sugar tests higher. I get so confused, frustrated and discouraged and there is barely any information on the Internet about lean diabetics.
I thank you for caring about people so much that you seek the true solutions to diabetes and share them in a simple understandable way for the general public. You have helped me immensely. God bless you.
Doctor Jason! You are an authority on this subject! PLEASE DO NOT TRASH YOURSELF WITH VIDEO IMAGES THAT MAKE YOU LOOK OUT OF YOUR MIND-.- You arena real Doctor ! I always recomend your videos to a very serious knowledgeble community! You are the Best!
Doctor Fung is correct. Scott Koenig has been listening to this Doctor for more than five (5) years. My "take-a-ways" from this video and his others include but are not limited to- Type-2 diabetes is nearly 100% reversible; sugar is sweet, potent, and addictive; the human body is not stupid and burns lots of stored body fat and only a tiny proportion of lean muscle during fasting; there is nothing coming in, we better switch over (autophagy); there is no money to be made by drug companies by following intermittent fasting; when we eat too much we feel like s**t; eating several times a day is metabolically disastrous; TV shows like "The Biggest Loser" never have reunion shows because the participants gained all or much of the weight back; periods of starvation increase the human mind's intellectual ability (WW2 POWs learned new, foreign languages), et cetera.

Doctor Fung. Thank you so much. I have followed you for about 3 years now (give or take). Fasting has helped me greatly. I already knew my body was unable to consume modern products but learned from you the difference between a fasting regime and a starvation diet. I have been overweight from childhood and subjected to dieting my entire life (57 now). I literally have been on a starvation diet my entire life. And even though I would eat so little my husband would demand I eat more, I'd just gain weight. I've always eaten fairly well, real foods and moderate to none processed foods but just could never figure out what was wrong. My doctors have all tried to tell me I was diabetic and were really disgruntled when I would always test negative. I have been lectured and berated by everyone in my life for being overweight to the point I have few friends and don't socialize. While they may mean well, they have never walked a foot (let alone a mile) in my shoes (body). Now knowing the physiological difference between fasting, intermittent fasting and starvation... I have removed almost 30 lbs with nearly 90 more to go. But the real THANK YOU is that my Husband tested A1C @11.6 and blood sugar @350 in January at a new employment medical checkup. He was beside himself. I have been suggesting to him for 15 years to slow down on the sodas and bread.... THANKS TO YOU and me listening to your advice his blood sugar levels are leveling off regularly around 110. And he goes for another A1C next week. 😉🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
A piece of unsolicited advice here: don’t let anyone characterize time restricted eating as a “starvation” diet. Consuming all of your food during a six hour window (or whatever) never starved anybody.
@@scottjackson163 it wasn't time restricted eating. It was just a few bites while I made my husbands meals. Literally 3 oz. A couple times a day. And my body just WOULDN'T let go of anything until I saw the difference between tiny bits at a time and actually eating nothing. That's what REALLY clicked and worked for my body. Thanks for your insight though.
Great advice! I was diagnosed with fatty liver disease and love my food and drink...too much! I fasted and stopped the booze and unhealthy food for a few months and my liver is almost back to normal. So it can all be improved with some effort. Diabetes can be helped by diet definitely! But rebounding is always a worry!

For me, I found that like Dr Berg used to recommend--> I eat 4 to 5 eggs sunnyside up for breakfast every morning. I cook them sunnyside up with a runny yolk. I cook them in unrefined virgin coconut oil. I add himalayan salt and real grass fed butter. I eat one extra teaspoon of coconut oil. Daily electrolytes are important: Potassium Magnesium malate Himalayan salt And purified water. For lunch I eat 1/2 pound of ground chuck beef. No bread. Sometimes a teaspoon of grass fed butter. Electrolytes and water. Green tea plus cinnamon. Sometimes another egg. I walk or run in place plus pushups and arm movements. Running in place as fast as you can 30 seconds for about 3 to 5 sets maybe twice a day will improve blood flow. Once in a while biohacks: about 10,000 to 15,000 mg of MSM organic sulfur. N acetly cysteine (NAC) Glandular supplements: pancreas, thyroid, thymus, andrenal. R lipoic acid. Glutathione. Astaxanthin. D3. Vitamins B complex, A, liposomal C. Cholostrum. Great for eyes and brain: Taurine. Acetly carnitine. In morning Tyrosine. At night Tryptophan, magnesium threonate, melatonin. CoQ10 ubiquinol. PQQ Maybe one a week a high dosage niacin flush. Occasionally, Serrapeptase plus nattokinase. Various enzymes. Pancreatin. Protease. Catalase. Raw oysters. Zinc. Daily thyroid multi complex mineral supplement- iodine, selenium, zinc, copper, Bs, etc

I slowly worked my way to a low carb diet. Started by just cutting sugar - other videos said I would typically lose "a stone" (14 pounds) just doing this. I actually did, almost exactly. I love it when someone explains something in theory, and when put to the test, what they say will happen actually does. (At least for me, I'm sure not everyone's body responds the same way.) Then I cut out starches, then went low carb in general; down to about 40 gms/day (net.) Then I added Time Restricted Eating. Just about EVERY positive prediction made my Dr. Fung and others has come true - my weight down 32 pounds and steady for over a year. hba1c down. Trigs/HDL ratio dropped from over 7 to about 2. Others have predicted my quick demise from doing this, and I'm still here. So to the doubters out there: put it to the test. Don't take it on faith. Don't reject it on faith. Try it out. I watch my three brothers taking pills and injecting insulin and just shake my head. They won't try.

You need insulin to lower the blood glucose (BG). It is better to lower BG by low CARB. Many people believe it is too difficult to give up CARBS. If you chose to take insulin instead of lowering CARBS, you will just gain weight and you will often just need more insulin. Go low CARB and fasting and it is much more effective and easier. You will feel a lot better too.
I believe thumb down has nothing to do with the content of a video, any video. Psychologists will soon find an abreviation for it: OCTDD "obsessive compulsive thumb down disorder"
@@Ryan_DeWitt I'm not talking about the normal insulin your body produces. I'm talking about giving myself insulin when my body has a insulin to much insulin already, makes no sense.
@@autismdadlouie6872 Well, normally insulin is used for type 1 diabetics and only used in the most severe of type 2 diabetes cases. Sure you could have them eat a extremely low carb diet and that would for sure help. However reality is many severe type 2 diabetics unfortunately are unwilling to do that for a lifetime. Hence the unfortunate and certainly not the optimal way is to overcome the insulin resistance in these people for lack of a better term is brute force.

So glad you are on board Doc. Welcome to Doctor Fungs fan club.
Almost everything is due to the metabolic disaster that is diabetes or its related maladies. The list is endless.
Hands down, the biggest lifesaver on UA-cam.
@Lying Eyes Exactly LE. Unfortunately, it's not about health anymore, rather the business of health, ie Money.
@J Rose Because it's fasting that is the biggest factor. Eating low carb helps a lot, but fasting is the key.
But isn’t this long term fasting the very definition of anorexia? Lol, I mean look up the word. You can literally be healthy, fit, and lose/maintain weight without fasting lol.

@jacquelinesjournal8470 Yes, it will eventually come down, particularly with extended fasting.
I suspect that if I had the will power to fast for an entire week, my diabetes would be completely in remission.
u can squeeze some money out of this
@jackies.diaries Not a problem for me, even though I have a hiatal hernia. I'll get reflux at unpredictable times and double strength antacid will handle for me. You could do either an H2 antihistamine or a PPI regularly if it bothers you every time you fast.

I feel so much better now. excellent ! Dr. Fung, the people you most need to reach are general practitioners/primary care physicians.

Low carb and intermittent fasting worked for me. In the last 12 months my A1c went from 6.7 to 5.2.
Hello Dr, Fung. I am in Texas and just been diagnosed as a Type 2 diabetic, The Dr did not give me any medicine, what he said was he want me to get the book the Diabetic Code by Jason Fung. So I'm here looking all your
videos and learning so much thank you
May Allah be always with you. We are grateful to you.
OMG, how did you stop metformin, God is great happy for you
I thank you for caring about people so much that you seek the true solutions to diabetes and share them in a simple understandable way for the general public. You have helped me immensely. God bless you.

These videos are great, initially for education. Afterwards, it is a great motivator for those of us that are fasting to keep our eyes on our goals. I'm on day 6 of a water fast. Day 5 was the toughest so far but these videos help me stay focused. I don't want temporary discomfort to ruin my prize.
thats the thing i can do it but im scared like a mf , as i read if google it says what can happened with 72 hours fasting is your heart rate fluctuate an u can get a heart attack.

Daily electrolytes are important:
Potassium
Magnesium malate
Himalayan salt
And purified water.
N acetly cysteine (NAC)
Glandular supplements: pancreas, thyroid, thymus, andrenal.
R lipoic acid. Glutathione. Astaxanthin. D3. Vitamins B complex, A, liposomal C. Cholostrum.
Great for eyes and brain: Taurine.
Acetly carnitine.
In morning Tyrosine. At night Tryptophan, magnesium threonate, melatonin.
CoQ10 ubiquinol. PQQ
Maybe one a week a high dosage niacin flush.
Occasionally, Serrapeptase plus nattokinase. Various enzymes. Pancreatin. Protease. Catalase.
Raw oysters. Zinc.
Daily thyroid multi complex mineral supplement- iodine, selenium, zinc, copper, Bs, etc
You must be rich as hell.
Wow!! That sounds fantastic!!

Dr. Fung helped and inspired me. Now on OMAD for 2 years and A1C test results are excellent. Walking, running or weightlifting while fasted is no issue.

Thank you for all this great information! Even though I’ve watched all your videos, even (and especially) the long ones, seeing a new video from you always gets me excited to click! I’ve never had diabetes or even prediabetes, but this advice is good advice for everyone to prevent the slow creep of T2D for all of us.
Jason fung I have great respect for you. You saved my life.
I see J. Fung, I click 👍🏽
Ty Dr . Your techniques worked just as advertised . I’m confined to a wheelchair . T2 paraplegic and I am still remission from t2 diabetes . It’s all about diet and some consistent daily movement
Dr Fung you're the Boss!!!!
Indeed!!!
Thank you for all your help l am fasting and on low carb diet now my numbers have gone down on my way to reverse my diabetes with your help.
Thank you Dr. Fung, Have a Blessed Day!
My grandmother die of kidney failure due diabetes, and recently my mom was diagnosed with diabetes and I'm researching like crazy, this video is really clear and informative. I just don't understand why my mom's doctor recommend her to inject insulin if she has type 2 diabetes.
many doctors think old school, still.
big pharm runs the medical schools
You need insulin to lower the blood glucose (BG). It is better to lower BG by low CARB. Many people believe it is too difficult to give up CARBS. If you chose to take insulin instead of lowering CARBS, you will just gain weight and you will often just need more insulin. Go low CARB and fasting and it is much more effective and easier. You will feel a lot better too.
I am sorry to hear that! But now you have got great news, just decide yourself and everything will be ok! Good luck!
The doctor gets paid when your mom takes insulin. It is all about money. They don't care.
Thanks, I'm learning to control my Type 2 with intermittent fasting and lower carb diet now.
18 people gave this video a thumbs down while they ate a cheeseburger and drank a double Big gulp followed by a shot of that insulin poison.🤔😔😔😢
I agree when you refer to insulin as poison. I was put insulin because it is a NHS guideline not because I needed to be on it.
I believe thumb down has nothing to do with the content of a video, any video. Psychologists will soon find an abreviation for it: OCTDD "obsessive compulsive thumb down disorder"
Insulin is an extremely essential hormone which you will die without. How does that make it poison?
Dr. Fung, you are a blessing! Thank you!
You are very welcome
You're saving lives🥰👍
Thank you very much Dr. Jason Fung you saved my life Keto & IF !
Shared with a client who is likely pre-diabetic. I am also subbed to Cole of Snake Diet, I live a fasting focused lifestyle and dry fast at times now too, easier than water fasting imho. I consider fasting to be one fo the most important things I have learned to do in my life...even beats math lol! Thx Dr. Fung!
Lowered my glocuse by exercising at least 1 hour a day, walking, bicycling and elliptical. I stopped drinking sodas and sweet drinks and minimized sweets like candy. I try to eat veggies and fruits every day. I stopped smoking and drink lots of water. My A1c is 6.3 and no more metformin. You can do it.
I appreciate your various videos. Even the repetition is valuable to help me maintain my motivation & commitment... and hopefully to extend my fasting hours beyond my current plateau of 16 or 17 hours.
Praise God you're a good man helping save lives including myself praise the Lord the answer 4 problems with diabetes God bless you sir
Thanks Mr Doctor for being so kind to us by sharing such a magnificent information regarding health and well being. You are a health messenger In nowadays. God bless you for being so kind
I was taken off of my medication back in February cause I got my sugar all the way down. I was grieving and couldn't eat due to no apatite. Fast forward 5 months, I'm here with a blood sugar of 600+ and haven't even eaten badly. It's almost like my body rejects all food. This video is helpful. I know what I have to do again
Best explanation I've heard. Thank you.
You are not only a Dr, but a great teacher as well.tnq Dr God bless you.

@@PuertoRicanqueen90 Yes. Please do give it a try. You won't regret it.
I did intermittent fasting with Keto but you can start with just the fasting first. Start with 12 hours and gradually increase it after few weeks.
You will be surprised with the results. If you have any questions just let me know or the channel. They are very helpful. 😊😊
The key 🔑 is low carb diet and intermittent fasting which I definitely am going to try.
Thank you very much Dr J Fung.
God bless you and those who join you as well
