I am probably twice your age and have worked in media production for most of my life. Rotary phones were the only phones when I was a child. The good news about A.I. is that technology has always been changing epically, and the entire ride I have heard bosses exclaim "We're gonna be out of a job with this new technology!" My advice is to never hold back on YOUR growth. Forget the pressure to abandon your own path if you enjoy it. My entire career has been as a magician. My clients don't know why my work feels better than anyone else's work, but the point is they can FEEL it anyway. You don't have to explain your path to any negative folks. Besides, they can't understand it. By diving deep into your art forever, you will always see what others can't see. A.I. can't teach them that without them knowing they can't see the details and then connections an artist sees. Use A.I. for the tedious stuff you already know how to do. A.I. is nothing new. It's another light bulb.
This is exactly what I tell my kids. AI is great at assisting me with mundane tasks (like boilerplating out a class or something), but it's not a replacement for honing your skills and becoming better in every way possible. An analog for AI is cheating on a test. Why is cheating on a test bad? Because the test is supposed to be a marker for your abilities up to that point, and what areas you need to focus on to get better. Cheating on a test robs you of the opportunity figure out how you can get better. AI is no different than a calculator. If you use it to cheat, it'll rob you. But that doesn't mean you can't use it as a tool to make things a little easier, especially when you've already grown past it in certain areas that you're using it in.

same, I am not sure how to add multiple layers of plants on the same plane....anyone? EDIT: just select the same plane and add a new Geometry nodes modifier, and use another plant in that one, with the same nodes setup as in the previous one :))
Before applying the geometry nodes as shown in 5:06, apply the scale of the plane by pressing ctrl+A, otherwise the grass, moss, etc. will scale with the plane
The "is this worth it if Ai is gonna replace me?" and "is it really ok for me to use this in my world if i didn't create it?" are both things i grappled with recently learing UE5 to make games. I like how you brought them up and tried to address them.
what a great breakdown that goes beyond the tech hows and thinks about the bigger picture. and all this info is easily adaptable to other apps like Unreal Engine
Amazing tutorial! And I totally agree with this part at 9:15. I used to be against stock assets, but my mind has completely changed after thousands upon thousands of hours of working in 3D. The way I see it is if the scope of your project is bigger than the object(s) you're using and the object is obtained legally and credited properly (just like you did here) then there's absolutely no shame in using it! Now I only custom model the things that I know don't exist or that I know I can do better. Also, stock assets are used all the time on even the biggest productions.
i like your approach where before you begin, have a picture in your mind, take a reference, dissect them in to list before you open blender. many times most (including me) would open blender then see block and we get our brain BLOCKED. where my imagine should start, what do i need, should i start house wait no lets build environment. at the end we do get the results we are looking for if u are dedicated but at the cost of losing more time.

Hi, stupid question probably, but how do I properly apply two different scattering systems to the same plane like you did at 4:06? When I do it, instead of only adding my "new plants" on the plane, it scatters everything on the plane AND the existing moss. Is the workaround just to use a single Geo Node group?
I've tried to use noise texture to have organic distribution like in 3:54 but instead having distribution with noise texture it's affecting the plant scale, how do i fix this?
Excellent tutorial to actually CREATE a big looking environement. Props to you, keep it up, not like theses blender-youtuber who usually just talk about stuff they can't realize in blender
Just found you through Instagram and I wanted to say how much I've enjoyed your videos. I'm trying to get back into blender and improve my skills and these tutorials have been really helpful since I've struggled with environments before. Keep up the amazing content!
2:14 can you please tell how you did that layer of moss? Is it a texture or a lot of small instances? Cause I tried make similar ground and my blender was very laggy with that amount of instances(aprox150k). I even tried to make this in Houdini, but still project become very heavy with this one layer of moss.
For some reason whenever I connect the instance of whichever plant into the node system to scatter them (3:47), they show on the plane completely flat and have no vertical size no matter which plant model I use. Have I missed something? I'm quite new to blender so any advice or fixes would be great
Great Video! Inspired me to make something similar. However, I have two questions: How do you add layer upon layer of "Instances On Points" exactly? I have just copied all the point distribution stuff that many times that I need different objects to be scattered. Is this the way to go or is there an easier way? Secondly you say at around 5:00 that you can apply your little ecosystem to the final/bigger plane. How do you do that exactly?
@@Covingsworth I got your Patreon membership. I couldn't find the video you mentioned about creating an advanced ecosystem. I couldn't understand how I can apply the small ecosystem to the final/large plane. I would appreciate your help.
