You absolutely should show us your sentimental guns. For many of us, that's where our love for this came from. I still have my very first gun, a Winchester model 61 .22 that my grandfather gave to me when I was a kid. There is no way I will part with it other than giving it to a grandkid of my own before I pass away.

Yes sir, that model 61 is a great little rifle. I have my dad's. He bought it new at my great uncle's gun shop. I'll never sell it either. This year I gifted my Winchester 9422 to a good friend who has two young sons. They have more modern .22's, but they didn't have a lever action. 22, and I don't know of any that'll top the Winchester, a Marlin 39 would be a close second.

Yep. I'd say for fun, if you like marksmanship rather than just plinking, that you get more bang for buck with using 4. Decent Rimfire rifle + decent rimfire scope, instead of LD rifle. But some folks may have 300+ yds to play with. Either way rimfire is awesome for teaching marskmanship fundamentals, you have to be solid to make small groups, it's not just a gun race.
Or substitute rimfire for shotgun, even though shooting sporting clays is great fun and great marksmanship/long gun fundamentals all at the same time.

I got a .338 Win Mag BAR that was a safe queen for an old guy that intended to take it out west for elk and never did, now I use it from time to time getting some scratch and light rust marks from use on hunting trips. The field just leaves it’s small marks on a gun eventually here and there, some would say it detracts from its value. But ya know what? It’s filled my life with value with being able to use such a cool firearm to put meat in the freezer like it was intended for. It’s being used and I hope if that ol man could see me now he’d be proud it’s in a household a man’s hands that would be young enough to use it and then pass it on. Still my Ruger SFAR .308 is my preferred hunting rifle, but that .338 BAR has and always will have a special place in my heart like your .30-30 will. Keep on pulling it out of the safe for use to put a smile on your face, that’s truly living 🤙

Finally broke down and went to Walmart where it’s cheapest - had to go to two stores because first had misplaced key to the ammo case 🤦🏼‍♂️. Second WW had about 8 boxes and limits 3 so I need to keep shopping - but can at least test the firearm.

Also would like to see greater depth on the .22 LR. It’s a round we all started with and grew up on. Given the price point of ammo and the firearms themselves for .22, it’s a great value.

I have two Marlin (60/70's versions) .22LR Model 39A and 30-30 Model 336. Both have been used a lot and out of the box they are highly accurate. I just picked up a another 39A with a scope which is a blast to shoot (1968 version). Do not discount these and I am sure are less expensive but every bit as good as the Winchester....if not better in my opinion.

Such a good list! Mine would be very similar:
    1. SS MR920/ G19 - This is my everything gun. I personally own an MR920 as my backup weapon. Never had a failure, and I shoot it better than my duty pistol. Also, mags are compatible with my duty pistol. Plus, it's made in TX.
    2. Mossberg 590- I love this shotgun. I've shot slugs accurately at 50yrds with a bead sight. Love to do tac reloads with it and the overall shooting experience. Also, my 120lb wife loves shooting this more than any other long gun.
    3. AR 15 300BLK- The 556 round is super useful and proven, but I lean towards CQB-300yrds. That is where most of my engagements have happened, and 300BLK is King in that range. If I wanted another round, I would just change a few components.
    4. Lever action 30/30 or 45/70- I am a sucker for lever actions. Love them for the same reasons I love pump shotguns: simplicity, reliability, proven, cool factor, and they just look sexy. If I had to choose one, probably the 30/30 since the rounds are more common and if I needed a bigger round, well, that's what a slug is for.
    5. CZ P-01/ SP-01 Tactical- This last one was difficult. It was a toss-up between an AK 47, a six shooter, or this. The deciding factor for me was if my wife needed a pistol, she would use my MR920. She is most comfortable with it, so I would need one. Plus, I think everyone should own 1 all metal pistol, and CZs are awesome.

My first pistol and CCW was a Bulgarian Makarov. I love that pistol so much - the simplicity of the design, the shape of the grip, the recoil impulse, and how easy it is to point shoot. I have other pistols now that are much more modern and practical, but I'll be damned if I ever get rid of my CCW holster for it or leave it at home two range days in a row.

Of course, I built an AR for a lot of the same reasons in the video. I have a mossberg 500, but with the 18 in barrel and slug sights on it. Both the AR and the shotgun are also my duty weapons. I think the five I'd go for, or recommend, would be:
    1. full-size 9mm or .45 ACP semi-automatic pistol. They are fun, and if things ever get bad, they are definitely a go to item.
    2. a compact version of the above, if you are going to conceal carry. That seems to be a huge reason why most have guns today.
    3. shotgun, pump is the most reliable, and probably 12 gauge just because of availability. And you can hunt almost anything with it.
    4. lever action rifle. A .30-30 is hard to beat for most people, and it is powerful enough to get the job done without being so much as to kill your shoulder.
    5. I don't have any, but clearly an AR platform is a wise choice, probably enough to raise it to the second position if you are prioritizing them.
Somehow, you should squeeze a .22LR pistol or rifle in there, as in a survival mode, it can keep game on the table, keep predators away, and you can carry a lot of .22LR so that you can last a long time. If defense is your game, then the five above probably stand. If survival is the game, probably replace #2 with a .22LR rifle or pistol.

    3. Some kind of pistol grip shotgun

    1. Ruger 10/22: can carry loads of ammo and can potentially hunt small game for survival. 2. .357/.38 spl revolver with at least a 3" barrel: excellent reliability and power in a portable package, concealable but also a perfect hip gun. 3. Rem 870 (or similar): amazing versatility and durability as a survival and defense gun. If you could only have one gun, this would probably be it for the sheer number of options. 4. S&W Shield Plus (or other small 9mm): a gun you carry is better than one you don't have and it uses common ammo. 5. A lever action rifle chambered in .357 magnum: it shares ammo with your revolver and it has very respectable ballistics out of a rifle barrel. This could potentially take down a deer, rabid dog, or home invader (don't eat the home invader even though you don't want to waste meat, they are stringy and often carry parasites.) It makes me sad not to have a 1911 on this list, but if I could only own 5 I think this would be it.

Lever's are so underrated these days. Love your choice. However, my go to lever is the Ruger 96/44. It's pretty much a beefed up 10/22, but a lever in .44 mag Compact, flick of the finger fast, absolute hammer in .44 mag, with a detachable mag. I've dropped 3 deer in drives and all other drivers thought there was multiple guys shooting because "there was no way on person was shooting, let alone a lever", and it is my house rifle because it is fast, short, and a 240g hp out of a 18" tube lays the smack down, and much safer compared to older levers. On the comment of "shotgun's a 0 - 25 yard weapon" this last November my hunting buddy took a deer at 110 yards with a 12-guage mossberg. Watching that deer take two steps and drop changed my whole opinion on shotgun range limitations. Still working on my five but the three I have so far...
1: Remington R1 1911 Carry Commander - It was inexpensive, it's reliable to a fault, and to this day it still shoots better than I do. It's also durable and easily stands up to anything I do to it on a daily basis. I've never had to use it in self defense and I pray I never have to, but if something ever happens I feel confident this one can do the job.
2: Savage 220 - My hunting shotgun and the first gun I ever bought, so she has a bit of sentimental value too. Yet another extremely reliable pick that shoots very well and brings home the venison.
3: Henry .308 Long Ranger - On order, still waiting for it to come in. Apparently Henry is having a bear of a time getting these out the door. From everything I've read though they're worth the wait.
4: I'll eventually put an AR here. I prefer the classics but I won't deny the advantages and effectiveness of a modern modular rifle.
    5: No idea.

I’m Marine Recon retired, I have 4 rifles, 3 handguns, of course I have a Springfield Armory M1 Scout, ( it’s obligatory), but favorite rifle is my Marlin 336 lever action, makes me feel like Chuck Connors ( The Rifleman ), my favorite hand gun, my Colt 357 Python wheel gun, makes me feel like Dirty Harry, I know he had a 44 mag :))

I have to agree with a lot of what you’re showing here.
    1: edc pistol
A pistol you always have on you is top priority.
    2. AR 15/10/pistol
Something that can lay down high volume or power in a world without law situation.
    3. Lever rifle
Will never stop working and will always be a legal weapon that in a SHTF situation can keep you grey man on not looking like a gear maniac but also looking like you’re not to be messed with. Also a great hunting gun.
    4. A 22LR weapon
    5. shotgun as it does offer a lot of options

I travel the country a lot so I don't have nearly as many guns anymore. I carry an FN 5.7 on my hip, Smith & Wesson 43 C on my ankle, Colt Anaconda under my shoulder, Ruger 10/22, Mossberg 500A, and Daniel Defence DD5 in my backpack. I was thinking about buying a 1911, I used to have one and I loved it.

    1. Remington 870 - 12 gage
    2. Glock 43X
    3. BCM AR-15 - 16” barrel (whatever config you prefer)
    4. Howa HS Precision - 300 Win Mag
    5. Savage Model 24 O/U - .22/410 (ultimate small game gun)
Side note: You can substitute the Model 24 for the newer Model 42. I just have a 24 passed down to me.
Just my top 5. I prefer multi purpose firearms. You can’t go wrong with anything as long as it directly applies to your needs/environment.

Since I prefer survival to combat, I will have to generalize my five:
    * A 22 Target pistol with at least a 5-inch barrel. This is for hunting small game and can be used in a pinch for carry.
    * A break-action shotgun/rifle combo gun. The .22lr/20ga Savage 24c is my favorite but you can also place in this category the Rossi matched pair youth model (.22lr/20ga), the Chiappa 22lr/20ga, or even a single or double barrel 12ga shotgun with the adaptor of your choice. [Addendum: upon further reflection you could also put the Rossi (Taurus) Circuit Judge here.]
    * A "backpack" rifle. This can be a breakdown/folding rifle in 5.56 or larger. My rifle of choice is a Keltec SU-16CA but any AR will work when broken down.
    * The "other" combo guns are a matching rifle/pistol "combo" that uses the same ammo, and preferably, the same magazine. This is where a matching Glock and Glock magazine PCC comes in. Also here you can put a Winchester lever action rifle in .357mag or 44mag and a revolver.
    * Since there are actually five guns above I could have stopped there but I am adding one more because I think it is important and that is a Flintlock. A Flintlock is the only firearm where all the components to make it fire can be made from scratch, unlike modern firearms. A normal person can not produce brass shells or primers, you need a factory for that. A break-action shotgun comes close. It can even be used as a muzzleloader but the primers are the sticking point. So for a SHTF/"You Can Never Go Back"/"Life As We Know It" situation, a flintlock is the only firearm that will function.
