Fun fact to those who haven't kept up with the anime. In Yugioh VRains, which began around 2018-2019, the main villain of the first season is hyped up to have an amazingly powerul card that can wipe the field and the characters spend multiple duels being cautious and figuring out what it is, and they find out that god-tier card is... Mirror Force.
@@removebeforeflightgamingth9923 the 'joke' is that link monsters don't HAVE a defense position and so have no native way to 'play around' it. never mind that by that time the TCG had evolved beyond using TRAP CARDS natively thanks to the speed of the game devolving cards into 'turn 1/turn 2' cards.
I remember sitting through a lot of the first season of VRAINS thinking “they could just win with Mirror Force,” so I popped off when the villain actually used Mirror Force
I actually thought it was pretty cool they did that, not everything has to exist for the sake of the real competitive game, although they probably did it to hype the Mirror Force support they made that time.
Honestly, I'm surprised Obelisk made this list over Machina Citadel and Starving Venom. Citadel when combined with either Super Dora or Infinitrack Goliath makes it a one-side board wipe. And then Starving Venom though being a more conditional Dark Hole, is still a Super Poly target meaning it's a layer of protection on top of interruption that can't be responded to.
Or you can just take Darklord Zerato which only costs one Dark monster from the hand and can be brought out much easier. Or just The first Darklord which is a one sided field wipe on summon. Obelisk prob just won because of popularity, just like some other cards on the list
Did Citadel see any competitive play? Obelisk was really good in the Ruler format. Also, I think Starving is more of a Dark Hole-like effect. Edit: Dark Hole itself made it in this list. Yeah, I feel like Starving should make it in this list.
13:08 Agreed: In a Timelord deck, Dark Hole is useful because Timelords are unaffected and if there is a trapped, negated Timelord on my side, which essentially blocks another summon, Dark Hole can get rid of that so that I can summon a new TImelord.
Before acid reprint, I use interdimensional matter transporter for absolute zero because of the fraction transporter can remove absolute to proc its effect. But also act as a form of protection for some monsters when they need a quick escape since it caught people off guard
I personally believe Machina could be in Obelisk’s or Mirror force’s place. Obelisk requires to tribute 2 monsters and locks you from attacking with it that turn, where citadel destroys a monster of your choice (potentially helping you to special summon citadel from the grave of there’s another one there) but also doesn’t restrict you from attacking. Mirror force only destroys attack position monsters meaning that it’s not rocket science to switch your monsters in defense position to secure them as well as having to be activated during the battle phase making it even more situational comparing it to citadel’s quick effect that can be used at any time.
With “umi” and sea stealth attack you can turn elemental hero absolute zero into a raigeki every turn. I’ve messed around with it in master duel as a troll deck. It’s hilarious but not too competitive yet bc it’s just too hard to setup quickly. Even with 3x warrior of Atlantis and 3x legendary ocean and 3x ssa, you’d still need poly, a hero and a water card. Might be more viable when the new sea stealth support comes to the tgc in the future.
A fun trivia, at the Bolivia nationals, there were no maindecked copies of raigeki, both were in the sideboard. Harpie's Feather Duster had 3 copies present, 2 maindecked and 1 sideboarded. Chainge of Heart had 2 copies mainboard and none in the side, and Monster Reborn had a single maindecked copy, none in the side, and it was in the deck that won the whole event. Of the old school "staples", Foolish Burial had the most copies present, 4, all mainboarded.
I really enjoy these videos. However, the background effect for the Number 1 spot is very rough on the eyes. I understand the theming, but if possible, it might be better to tone down the bright flashing backgrounds in your videos. Thank you for the content, Duellogs and editors!
Id say The First Darklord is a good one, easy set up with necro fusion with morning star and then wipe your oppenents field, not to mention a great effect come your next turn
I knew Lightning Storm would be here, but kind of thought we might see Aslla Piscu or Judgment Dragon as well because of the former's FTK potential and the latter's ability to nuke the field over and over again if you have LP to spare.
Judgement has no protection and is harder to summon. Piscu isn't on here probably because of the difficulty in set up but is way easier to summon and does burn damage.
I feel like Fire King High Avatar Garunix deserves a mention. It's a level 8 fire/winged beast effect monster with 1700 ATK and 1700 DEF, with the effect that if it's destroyed by a card effect, special summon it from the graveyard in the next standby phase and when you do destroy all other monsters on the field. When it's destroyed by battle, you can special summon one Fire King monster from your deck excpept High Avatar Garunix
Minor correction, it has 2700 attack (I'm assuming it was a typo lmao). And has archetypal ways of destroying itself via card effect. Circle of the Fire Kings is a quick play spell card that allows you to destroy one fire monster you control and special summon one fire monster from the graveyard. Also Onslought of the Fire Kings allows you to special summon any Fire King monster from your deck if you have no monsters but it is destroyed during the end phase. Another thing to note is that if you managed to get a second Fire King High Avatar Garunix on the field during the same turn that the one summoned via onslaught was still there before being destroyed you would make an infinite loop unless one was banished or destroyed by battle. On top of other fire kings being able to destroy other cards you control or in your hand or via the same effect as onslaught but instead when it is sent to the gv this effect is easy to do without cooperation from your opponent.
Honestly, hearing that Obelisk saw competitive play bc of Dragon Rulers makes me still think about actual Egyptian God support (I still really love the design and feel so I still cope for getting it someday)
It exists tho? And it's... serviceable. It's a long shot away from being meta, but Egyptian Gods are definitely playable at least. Soul Crossing is a disgustingly strong card. Same goes for the Slifer-themed board wipe as well as the Ra support spell. And, of course, Ra Sphere Mode is simply amazing at breaking boards.
I'm fairly surprised a card like AA-Zeus didn't make the list. It wipes out all monsters and backrow, can use its effect multiple times, even in the same chain, and isn't too hard to bring out in any XYZ deck.
I always think albaz strike is like the best released structure deck so far because of the staples, new monsters, lore, and the gorgeous tokens they bring.
Really binging your videos lately! Any chance you'll continue your "Top ten best level X monsters"-Series? I loved that one, showed off so many interesting cart
I'd personally reduce lighting storm a few spots, just cause it sucks if you go first, or sucks if you draw it after you have a board built up, it is powerful, but most of the time in my experience at least it has a decently large chance of being a brick. In addition its board wipe is worse than the next few slots, since its only face up attack monsters, which makes it pretty easy to play around. good list as usual though.
I feel Judgment Dragon should have been on this list over Obelisk just on the basis that it's not a once per turn, it only costs 1000 LP to use his effect, and wipes out everything
Then again, what makes Protos better than Raigeki is the floodgate effect, not the Raigeki, so there's a debate to be had. However, it seems that TheDuelLogs draws the line at also destroying backrow, especially considering they've already made a video on field wipes.
It isn't like Raigeki in that it nukes the whole field instead of just monsters. It does require 4 different Lightsworns in gy to summon; mill top 4 cards of your deck, has no self-protection and only 3000 atk with 2600 def. Far easier to beat with both card effects and battle while being harder to summon. Paying more than 2000 lp can be detrimental as well. It is far more powerful an effect at the cost of protection and summoning: no protection and can only be special summon and with specific cards.
@@Prince_Eva_Huepow yeah, except JD can be summoned a lot easier than Obelisk, and can wipe out Obelisk since it does not target. It's a vastly superior card and you know it

Idk if it would really count as a "best" raigeki effect but I'm a little surprised to see no mention of Aslla Piscu. Granted they nerfed him with his very first errata but considering he nukes face up monsters and burns, I would've thought he might've been mentioned. Ignoring, of course, the fact that earthbounds don't really see play due to their rather glaring weaknesses. :(
I thought that that Levia-Dragon would make this list. It has the effect that if you remove umi from your field you have a dark hole effect, but it doesn't remove Levia-Dragon. You can do it as much as possible and a lot of cards name them selfs umi. You can do it as many times as you want as well. I guess it probably wasn't used in competitive for whatever reason.
What I love about that deck too is that it can go into Red Eyes Dark Dragoon very easily you would just have to be willing to splash Dark Magician and Magician Souls into it and the deck can take advantage of both cards very well.
Good video as always. But if I could make a request please use the background you used for Lightning Storm again. There was so much flashing that I had to scroll down and just listen to the audio.
I mean Malicious Bane is easily summoned if you run 1 adusted 1 dark calling and run Nibiru/or some side deck Kaiju or some level 5+ support. Can clear boards and can increase atk by the effect and can’t be destroyed by battle or card effects.
Actually, I kinda like Cyber Eltanin. By banishing all Light Machine Monsters, it *sends* all monsters on the oponents side of the field to the GY on summon. And it can be searched by Cyber Emergency.
Question: What made you pick Absolute Zero over Evil HERO Malicious Bane, since Bane can destroy all your opponent's monsters with lower ATK once per turn, and can't be destroyed? Not disagreeing (or agreeing), just curious.
I think the main reason is that absolute zero's effect triggers no matter how it leaves the field (unless sent back into the extra deck), which means most forms of removals and even your own card effects can trigger the nuke (which also means you can trigger it actively during your opponent's turn), and also, given the pace of the current metagame, you don't usually need a second nuke to establish a strong enough board presence to win, so Malicious Bane's once per turn is not highly necessary.
I still hate seeing Lightning Storm in my hand a lot of the time. As soon as you have anything face up, Lightning Storm becomes a brick. No telling how duels I've lost because I needed Raigeki or Feather Duster but got Lightning Storm.
honestly starving venom dragon should have at least had a shoutout, he is widely use with super poly and his raigeki effect does come up every once in awhile
I know earth machines are nowhere near top tier but man it’s sad not to see Machina Citadel on this list, even as an honorable mention. It has such an abusable and easily-recyclable Raigeki-like effect on top of providing a fat body and easy recursion. Any time I’ve managed to overcome a top tier deck with my earth machines, Citadel was always a critical piece of clearing my opponent’s board or getting combos going along with Anger Knuckle during my opponent’s turn, on top of the fact that it’s another easily accessible rank 10 piece for your BIG TANK TRAINS
In Master Duel, earth machine is pretty good since VFD is still viable, and infinitrack can turbo it out very easily and spam its effect thanks to Goliath fodder.
I’m so sad that the most underrated Raigeki like card wasn’t on this list. “Gingerbread House” an absolute beast when it comes to dealing with decks that special summon a lot of 1900 ATK + monsters, it also heals you as a cherry on top effect after destroying monsters. Duel logs please check out the card “Gingerbread House” this card deserve more recognition.🙏🏻

Because back then, TT was the bane of my existence. And I'm just glad now, I can use it against someone else for a change.
@TheDuelLogs you made a mistake when you were talking about level 8 synchros in the Elemental HERO Absolute Zero segment. Goyo Guardian is a level 6, not 8. I don't know if you caught that in editing, but I thought I'd mention it in case you didn't notice.
Top 10 Effect Monsters that can Clear the field of monsters/cards with a Dark Hole-like effect. (not counting summon conditions, regardless of where they end up after)
Personally I see Lightning Storm as over ratted and not just slightly. Then again having a restriction of no face up cards is why I see it as infuriating.
@@aleks_moldi right. but its over rated because it being in your go 2nd hand is 100% luck based and not at all reliable. Its copies of other versatile cards in those slots that would be better. My way of seeing it. I mean my luck with it is terrible,.
Can the original Gandorra be in a honorable mention for this list at the very least? Just for a turn (if summon is not negated) it can board wipe the entire field and then banishes those cards which in turn gives a clear direct attack dealing huge damage (if enough cards were destroyed and no hand traps that negates attack or effect is activated). That's too many ifs but for the Raigeki-like effect it could make the list. Sort of. 😅😅😅
the facepalm when goyo guardian is listed as an example of a level 8 synchro. proofreading yer scripts before recording the audio would be a worthwhile quality upgrade dontcha think?
Been playing so long I still always play around mirror force. If I see a facedown I just assume it's mirror force and always start sweating bullets when I make an attack.
And evil hero malicious bane too yes it only destroys monsters that have 3000ATK or less but with sunrise his ATK can be more to like 3400 so it can destroy most boss monsters and his ATK increases 200 for each monster destroyed this way and can perform its normal attack i use it more than absolute zero since it can’t be destroyed by battle or card effect including raigeki like effects
I feel like you should've mentioned how Despia decks can use Ad Libitum of Despia to revive Mirrorjade all over and over again. Not only they can reset its soft once per turn banish effect, they get access to End Phase Raigeki multiple times in a Duel, too, which is really, really annoying.
mirrojades raigeki effect is only online if it is fusion summoned. so if you summon it back with ad libitum you wont get the board wipe. still a really good interaction though.
Have you decided to put Divine Arsenal AA-Zeus in your hall of fame AKA list of cards you'll no longer be putting in lists? I was fully expecting it to be in the upper half of this one.
For absolute zero u forgot about elemental hero liquid solider, which is a cracked our card, that makes absolute zero super viable in modern hero decks
What about Phosphorage the Elemental Lord? Ik it requires 5 light type monsters in the graveyard to special summon itself from the hand to THEN activate its effect But, light being also as common as it is It’s not that hard to set up your gy and just have free raigeki like effect on a monster that doesn’t use your normal summon. And if you happen to use constellar belt like i do in my tellarknight deck it works wonders
I don't really care for Lightning Storm. The amount of times it became a brick because I drew it too late (as in, not the opening hand) made not want to use it.
No Evil hero malicious bane? It can be summoned relative easily, can destroy all monsters with less attack then it (at 3k that’s most monsters), and can’t be destroyed by battle or card effects
What about these cards: 1) Gilford the Lightning: This Monster is Tribute Summon by Tributing 3 Monsters and if that happens it destroys all Monsters on the opponent's field 2) Special Hurricane: It activates by discarding a Card and it destroys all Monsters on the field that was Special Summoned 3) Torrential Tribute: When a Monster(s) is Summoned: Destroy all Monsters on the field 4) Dark Burning Attack: If you control Dark Magician Girl: Destroy all face up Monsters your opponent controls
You mentioned something about 2020. So was that when they changed cards with "When this card leave the field" to only work when the card is sent to the hand/gy/banish? Edit: Oh yeah looked it up. I was baffled when some effects don't work after I send cards back to the main deck.
I kinda get why Garunix didn't fit in, but man a 3x Garunix + Sacred Phoenix deck is my #1 deck for just having fun. Start of every turn wiping everything and summoning a decent monster? Yes please!

Also, a fun thing. Mask Change Absolute Zero into Masked Hero Acid for a true Board Wipe
Zeus is far better.
@@benschwab8093 I mean sure I guess but that's not really relevant?
I still love th Absolute zero and Acid combo.
With #6 you could have the lost "White Hole" Trap card to prevent your monsters being destroyed while dark hole triggers
I still hate seeing Lightning Storm in my hand a lot of the time. As soon as you have anything face up, Lightning Storm becomes a brick. No telling how duels I've lost because I needed Raigeki or Feather Duster but got Lightning Storm.
True you really need that card in your first hand and only if you are going second
That's why I use 1 raigeki, 1 feather duster and 1 lightning storm
honestly starving venom dragon should have at least had a shoutout, he is widely use with super poly and his raigeki effect does come up every once in awhile
Especially since unlike almost every other card on this list, it can dodge cards like Fleur which can't negate graveyard effects
yes! especially against certain negate boards you could fuse starving venom and ram into their boss monster to clear the field
Where’s “The Law of the Normal” clearly it’s the best raigeki like card and its actually even easier and better to use?
I know earth machines are nowhere near top tier but man it’s sad not to see Machina Citadel on this list, even as an honorable mention. It has such an abusable and easily-recyclable Raigeki-like effect on top of providing a fat body and easy recursion. Any time I’ve managed to overcome a top tier deck with my earth machines, Citadel was always a critical piece of clearing my opponent’s board or getting combos going along with Anger Knuckle during my opponent’s turn, on top of the fact that it’s another easily accessible rank 10 piece for your BIG TANK TRAINS
Maybe not top tier but earth machines are toping events
@@xyz-dharak true, but Therions are doing more of the heavy lifting than Machina
@@fukou_da earth machine was topping already before regulus
In Master Duel, earth machine is pretty good since VFD is still viable, and infinitrack can turbo it out very easily and spam its effect thanks to Goliath fodder.
And it's way easier to summon in pure Machinas
I’m so sad that the most underrated Raigeki like card wasn’t on this list.
“Gingerbread House” an absolute beast when it comes to dealing with decks that special summon a lot of 1900 ATK + monsters, it also heals you as a cherry on top effect after destroying monsters.
Duel logs please check out the card “Gingerbread House” this card deserve more recognition.🙏🏻
Top 10 request: best of cards that can nuke the entire field in any way (Tyrant Red Dragon Archfiend or Odd-Eyes Revolution Dragon)
Great idea. He should do the worst as well.
I have some list suggestions of you don't mind:
Best Story cards part 2
Top 10 cards that show other cards
Top 10 cards that aren't in Master Duel
Top 10 stall cards.
Top 10 generic pendulum cards.
Top 10 "trap" cards. (Cards that seem good at first glance but aren't really that good.)
Top 10 parody cards. (Like how Weed Out parodies Return from the Different Dimension.)
Top 10 special conditions in the games.
More Rescue Rabbit, please.
I use Torrential Tribute for my Rikka deck in Master Duel and IRL.
And to help prevent my opponent from destroying TT I use 3 Starlight Roads in my deck to make sure they don't board wipe my back row.
Honestly, I'm glad Fury of Kairyu-Shin exists. Because back then, TT was the bane of my existence. And I'm just glad now, I can use it against someone else for a change.
top 10 cards that should be in your older videos but did not exist at the time

Raigeki goes to a Raigeki-like effects contest.... and looses
Exciton Knight deserves a spot on this list!
@TheDuelLogs you made a mistake when you were talking about level 8 synchros in the Elemental HERO Absolute Zero segment. Goyo Guardian is a level 6, not 8. I don't know if you caught that in editing, but I thought I'd mention it in case you didn't notice.
List suggestion: top 10 best/worst cards you can "only control one of". If it's already been done, feel free to correct.
^^^ This
Mirror Force is the sole reason I had trust issues in the early years of this game and always MST, Dust Tornado and Heavy Storm.
Supreme King Dragon Clear Wing or Black Rose Dragon are 2 good Synchros
Scarlight Red Dragon Archfiend’s also pretty good
I know this is an old ruling but for King's Knight effect can Special Summon Jack's Knight the Torrential Tribute's effect
I mean yea but if u go 2nd and have it in ur hand it is free mirror force/feather duster
@@aleks_moldi right. but its over rated because it being in your go 2nd hand is 100% luck based and not at all reliable.
Its copies of other versatile cards in those slots that would be better. My way of seeing it. I mean my luck with it is terrible,.
Albaz effect can use an opponents extra-deck Monster for mirrorjade
A top 10 cards which activation cannot be stopped?

Top 10 cards with YGO cards in their artwork (card of safe return, rare value, etc.)
Top 10 Cards That Changed The Way The Game's Played, inspired by your Mirror Force and Lightning Storm entries.
He did that a while back with Gorz at number one to nobody's surprise.
I would like to see something like Top 10 Armageddon knight like carda and other stratos like videos
I can’t wait for the day absolute zero and acid come to duel links… IF they ever come. Idk they might be too powerful for a 20 card deck 😎
Sort of. 😅😅😅
The fact that obelisk made the list and machina citadel didn’t, is very surprising to me…
Chaos emperor dragon is a raigeki like effect. Probably not good enough to make the list, but i still like it
Top 10 Best Level 4 or below main deck monsters that have over 2000 atk
I don’t even play the game anymore.
But these are so interesting
the facepalm when goyo guardian is listed as an example of a level 8 synchro. proofreading yer scripts before recording the audio would be a worthwhile quality upgrade dontcha think?
14:36 this video was definitely in production before the recent ban list, because Meow Meow-Mu just got banned. Lmao
This is a good top 10 as always, but I had to look away from the last spot's background, it almost gave me a seizure
Suggestion: Top 10 Cards that would be better as Extra Deck cards
i would be curious to see a top ten number cards list
Been playing so long I still always play around mirror force. If I see a facedown I just assume it's mirror force and always start sweating bullets when I make an attack.
Considering you added both board wipes, I’m surprised you didn’t add the real #1, AA-ZUES
Zeus does not have a Raigeki-like effect
I thought Raigeki is not on the list since it is Raigeki.
I like using Torrential Tribute with my evilswarm deck since 1 of the cards can make my cards unaffected
Ayyy thanks for the vid
all of these cards works as a reminder to put "unaffected by card effects" cards in your extra deck, like Raidraptor - Ultimate Falcon
Raigeki not being number one is like Charlie Chaplin losing a Chaplin look-alike contest
Raigeki once went to a Raigeki lookalike contest and came fourth.
For absolute zero u forgot about elemental hero liquid solider, which is a cracked our card, that makes absolute zero super viable in modern hero decks
What about Phosphorage the Elemental Lord?
Ik it requires 5 light type monsters in the graveyard to special summon itself from the hand to THEN activate its effect
But, light being also as common as it is
It’s not that hard to set up your gy and just have free raigeki like effect on a monster that doesn’t use your normal summon. And if you happen to use constellar belt like i do in my tellarknight deck it works wonders
I don't really care for Lightning Storm. The amount of times it became a brick because I drew it too late (as in, not the opening hand) made not want to use it.
Yeah you kinda have to tailor your deck for a going second style to get the most mileage out of it.
No Evil hero malicious bane? It can be summoned relative easily, can destroy all monsters with less attack then it (at 3k that’s most monsters), and can’t be destroyed by battle or card effects
Wouldn’t DPE be an activated effect since it has a “you can activate this effect” clause?
What about these cards:
1) Gilford the Lightning: This Monster is Tribute Summon by Tributing 3 Monsters and if that happens it destroys all Monsters on the opponent's field
2) Special Hurricane: It activates by discarding a Card and it destroys all Monsters on the field that was Special Summoned
3) Torrential Tribute: When a Monster(s) is Summoned: Destroy all Monsters on the field
4) Dark Burning Attack: If you control Dark Magician Girl: Destroy all face up Monsters your opponent controls
Yes please!
