Top 10 BEST CARDS (that are technically minus 1's or more in card advantage)

- In Yugioh, card advantage is one of the most important mechanics in the game. Players will do nearly anything to draw a card on their first turn just to improve their consistency or dig for their most powerful cards. But what about the Yugioh cards that actually lose you card advantage when you activate them? What does it take for a card that undermines Yugioh's most important mechanic to be good? Today we'll be going over the 10 best cards that make you go minus 1 - or worse - when you use them. Let's get started!

“Shows crazy box”
Oh logs, never change
Are you saying that rolling 1 five times in a row isn't broken?
A little surprised Kaiju monsters didn't make this list. You go -1, and you replace one monster your opponent has with another. But you're also typically removing a high priority monster that your opponent just can't respond to.
That's a perfect example
Heck you can also include Santa claws and lava golem as well cause decks like Mikanko and Purrely love using them
@turtlesfan44 Lavas a +0
@@turtlesfan44 lava golem is a net neutral
@@turtlesfan44 Santa claws would be a -2 or maybe a -3 in that sense due to giving your opponent a card draw
Surprised Book of Moon wasn't mentioned. Back in the Synchro era, everybody called it "the best -1 in the game".
2:38 Logs refers to it as a "creature," showing how much Magic is influencing him, nowadays
Forgot to mention the interaction Gazelle has with cynet mining where it can then special summon itself because of the timing if you sent a name
Hopefully Top 10 WORST CARDS (that are technically plus 1s or more in card advantage) follows
Top 10 Best/Worst Tip Cards would also be nice (Tip cards are bonus cards included in every pack of the reprint set Dark Beginning and its followup that give advice. They have a hilariously big power disparity: One straight up tells you how to do a reliable OTK)
He has already done a list on worst cards that grant advantage a few years ago
technically, nearly all Extra deck monsters go minus on summon, because you use 2+ cards to make only 1
And rituals go minus 2
Link 1
@@MrKiwitox Non-contact fusion is usually at least a -2.
a lot of them fuse directly from the deck tho
@@toniyamithat's why they said " _nearly_ all[...] "
Another points in favor of small world is, it works as an excellent ash bait that trades you going neutral, as it sends for effect, not for cost, if you're really bricked and you only have an ash/veiler and a cinet mining/one for one, you lose your ash no matter what and if you eat the ash, not only you didn't get your circular, you lost the card that might have let you live for another turn.
Not to mention that, in md, if you actually have the card you want in hand already, if you know how to bridge, you can still get the same card if the effect goes through, effectively going minus 1 but in exchange you get the knowledge that your opponent might not have an ash letting you know you don't have to worry about it and only focus on playing around other handtraps.
Also, while a little less relevant, it thinners your deck, if you have a bridge that ideally you don't like to draw too much, it's gone, and even if it's a good card, it still increases you chances of drawing the out if you're stuck in a game state where your opponent can't kill you, but you cannot win either, because the opponent lock you somehow.
Nice
I quickly learned to never waste an Ash on Aluber because they'll already have a Branded Fusion in their hand every single goddamn time. Just like how Grass users have the card glued to their opening hand even when it's limited to one.
16:35 Idea for a card that turns the “Forbidden” Spells/Traps into proper “Darklord” cards:
_Darklord Hecate_ (DARK)
Level 3
Fairy/Effect
_While this card is face-up on the field, “Forbidden” Spell/Traps you possess are treated as “Darklord” cards. If a “Darklord” card from your hand or field would be banished or sent to the GY by an opponent’s Spell/Trap card or effect: You can tribute this card from your hand or field instead. Once while this card is face-up on the field (Quick Effect), You can tribute up to 3 cards from your hand or field: Increase this card’s level by 3 for each tribute, and also, while it remains on the field, this card gains the following effects depending on the number of tributes (You can only use this effect of “Darklord Hecate” once per turn.):_
1+:Gains 300 ATK/DEF for every “Darklord” card on your field or in your GY. “Darklord” cards in your GY are unaffected by opponent’s cards or effects.
2+:This card can attack thrice in a row per turn. You take no battle or effect damage from battles or opponents card effects that involve any “Darklord” cards you possess.
3+:The first 2 times per turn this card would be leave the field by battle or card effect, it does not. (Quick Effect) You can send 1 “Darklord” monster from your hand or field to the GY: Activate 1 “Darklord” spell/trap from your hand or deck.
ATK/900 DEF/900
THERE… Hecate of Greek mythology was described as a “Triple-headed and/or bodied” goddess of magic (amongst other things), which I incorporated into “Darklord Hecate”’s profile:
⚪️She’s a level 3 monster with 900 ATK/DEF, and has 3 main effects (With the third branching off into _another_ 3 effects, that requires 3 tributes to make the most of.
⚪️She has a knack for spells and traps, and 1 of her mythological counterparts associations is protection against witchcraft, so she has multiple means of making the most of any “Darklord” associated spells/traps (even passively making “Forbidden” Spells/Traps into “Darklord” cards while on the field.
⚪️AND her third effect plays into the number 3, magic and protection associations, increasing her level by 3 for each of the up to 3 tributes she can use for her effect (with her max level of 12 being 3 X 4), the effects she gains play into the “Triple-Bodied” aspect by making her beefier and tougher as if she were 3 monsters (or “bodies” in 1, AND her other gained effects per tribute tier play into her more esoteric powers of magic and protection.
Gazelle ain’t limited anymore, but I get the point
Maybe was before the banlist due both editing and rendering
Combination of editing backlog, vacations, and Mr Logs getting sick has this happen sometimes, lol.
But in Duel Links ;) it is, it's on Limited 1 list
Lmao exactly what I was thinking
Of course, although it is surprising that Gazelle isn't banned atm. They're too strong and you build the whole deck around them. It's no wonder they're the King of Mythical Beasts.
Hand Traps can be annoying if they’re played against you but it can help get rid of the opponent’s card or negate it if you’re playing them
grats on describing one of the most basic concepts in yugioh lol
@@TristanandtheMinions Okay but I’m just saying what I want to say. Is there something wrong with that?
@@rainbowdragon168ah yes the floor is floor
@@Deathmare235 Okay no need to be sarcastic.
If deck milling like foolish burial and grass count, I really really think you missed Painful Choice (show 5 cards from your deck to your opponent, he picks one that you add to your hand, the other 4 go to the graveyard).
Otherwise, great video as always :)
He probably didn’t mention painful choice because it’s banned
Idea: Top 10 cards that support a generic monster type
ex. ROTA, the warrior returning alive, Isolde for warrior monsters.
Very specific Tierlist 🧐 I love it and it’s not even ironic! Will be a great video after my workout, Thank You!!👏
One for One was also the perfect combo for zombies. With Banshee in hand, you could send her, get the Glow Up on the field, link into Linguribou and you have Doomking on the field now for both a spell/trap negate and a monster effect negate. Or if you don't want to use the extra deck and you have something LV 5-6 then you can tribute the bloom that way instead.
Droplet, however, Has won me against a full Dino Negate board because a had a hand full of zombie cards that I would want in the gy.
Super Poly is also a staple in my zombie decks thanks to zombie world. Always something to be used as material.
an idea for a list, top 10 worst cover cards, IE those cards that appear on the front of a booster pack, those are typically intended to be a chase card for that set, the BIG one to pull..... but then sometimes it's power tool dragon and you just feel disappointed
My favorite - 1 combo is aaleister the invoker.
Set him normal, look for Invocation in deck, use Artemis moon goddess Link on him to send him to GY and get a Light Monster out. The use Invocation to get the Macabra Fusion Monster out banishing Artemis and Aaleister. Then use Invocation in GY to put it back into the Deck and Aaleister into the Hand.
So despite being a searcher for the #1 spot, Left Arm Offering wasn't on this list itself? Weird.
Sadly, My boy PK Torn Scales doesn't good enough for this list.
But great video, I like it.
In a formula athletes deck one for one can make you plus 1. And set you up for a number of synchro plays. Apply one for one and send any F.A. monster to the GY. Summon F.A. Auto Navigator. Navigator gets you the field spell U.A. Hyper stadium, Activate Hyper stadium, draw F.A. monster. Normal summon monster.
If you have another F.A. monster and Another field spell, activate Hyper stadium's second effect. Normal summon again. 2 F.A. monsters and 1 tuner can set you up for a number of plays
Not sure when this video was made but Gazelle is at 3 now I believe
Mining is such a great card, i love playing it in Libromancer.
Mining pitch geek boy, add fire
Do the whole combo use agent to get the geek boy back, such a perfect feeling 🛐
Super Poly + King of the swamp taking a boss monster and turning it into Thousand Eye Restrict to take another monster is some really troll shit.
Top 10 best/worst cover cards (for sets, structure decks, duel link/master duel packs/structure decks, all at the time they came out. All of them would probably be separate lists)
Please do Top 10 archetypes with multiple different extra deck monster, they need to have more than 2 types because almost all of the archetypes in the game received a link monster !
I don't think there are enough archetypes for that list. To make the list fair you'd have to exclude archetypes that typically slot in a lot of generics due to a deficit of built-in boss monsters
U mean D/D/D list?
Cyber Dragons would make that list simply because of Chimeratech Fortress Dragon and Chimeratech Megafleet Dragon giving them constant Rogue potential.
Gem-Knights would probably make the list thanks to the OTK, but perhaps be in the low end since their XYZ monster has no effect. Six Samurai's would also be a contender.
I play archfiend eccentric and small world in my mikanko deck, watching the opponent scoop after I search out lava golem is what keeps me going these days
Lol, that is rude.
Grass is also like a minus 20 if you think in duel monsters terms
Wait so according to the card text, when the cost monster is banished and you add a new one to your hand, it says, if you do, banish the card face down. So do you essentially banished the added monster or? What’s going on here, do you add it to your hand?
that's the cleanest description of small world I've ever heard
Gold moon coin is technically a -1 or a -3 depending on if you give your opponent normal monsters or bricks that you draw :-)
but also not good
Well bugger, IIhad come up with a small story to explain my deck, now I've seen Number 85: Crazy Box now I feel like I have to change the whole thing.
You should do a top 10 of your personal favourite cards
Hey, Im still Confused when using Your auto deck importer,
maybe you should made tutorial how to using it in the future????
Getting Grass in my opening hand of a 60 card Zombie Lightsworns alongside a Dark Ruler No More after my opponent got done playing Solitaire? Not winnable at that point.
Droplet has won me many games, especially when I used to play Numerons lol.
I remember having my solar recharge ash'd. never played lightsworn again
Small world is very good with blackwings, helps with its consistency
That grass looks greener is broke but more importantly it’s even better because it is funny looking.
That grass looks greener is absolutely cracked
top ten cards that change your opponents card effects to something new
What’s the background music used in this video
Top 10 worst cards that require a tribute cost to activate their effect (an exception to this rule would be monsters that have to tribute another monster to attack)
I'd like to see the best that aren't cannon soldier and pals.
"Am I a joke to you?" - Level Eater not being mentioned during one for one
People will go minus Their entire hand if it means putting a lockdown grip on the game. Doesn’t matter if you lose all your cards, as long as you can make an impossible board.
Omg it's Arrownoir, the one who has the worst takes on r/masterduel! Don't take my comment too seriously but you just have most of the time bad takes on there.
@@Cryptus777 It’s always nice to meet a fellow Masterduel redditor outside of reddit.
@@arrownoir It is good to go away from reddit sometimes or else you go mad being on there too much also it is good to touch grass once in a while. Anyway have a great day Arrownoir we probably see us on r/master duel some other day.
Card advantage applies to cards on the board too, though, it's not just about hand size. A good board might mean ending the turn with 1 card in your hand, but it often means 3-4 good monsters and some backrow, not to mention a bunch of live cards in the graveyard too.
I don't think I agree with the ordering of this list, although the picks themselves are pretty good. It would be nice if you also did a list of cards that are more than -1, so that hand traps can be excluded. I mean, if you think about it, almost every card that doesn't either special summon, destroy, or draw you a card, is a -1.
This explains why I love zombies, I can play all these minuses in one deck
Where is the mention of Knightmare Unicorn's best combo of discarding to spin itself and then passing turn?
Does anyone know what's going on with Knightmare goblin's face?
3:09 I'm sorry but I have to disagree with that. At least in Master Duel where Prosperity and Wraitsoth are both at one and Terraforming is banned Kashtira lack consistency to the point people are using Planet Pathfinder at 3. In this context Small World has been a great consistency boost for me by searching Unicorn, you just need to find a good brigde.
what about Kaijus?
8:04 Idea for a level 12 version of this card:
_12 for 12_
Quick-Play Spell
_Send 12 cards from your hand and/or field to the GY: Normal Summon/Set or Special Summon 1 Level, Rank or Pendulum Scale 12 monster from your hand, deck or GY, Ignoring it’s summoning conditions. This card’s activation cannot be negated or responded to._
THERE, a Quick-Play, Spell-Speed 4 version of One For One that dumps A LOT MORE cards to get out a level, Rank or Pendulum Scale 12 from your hand, deck OR GY, via you choice of summon condition ignoring normal summoning/setting or special summoning.
Point to a 12 that's worth minusing that hard for.
@@Dramatic_Gaming
_T.G. Halberd Cannon/Assault Mode_
Let’s you negate an opponent’s summon AND wipe away all their special summoned monsters in one swoop, AND you get a 4500 ATK/DEF monster that can float into another monster (if you have it in your GY)
@@Dramatic_Gaming
Or maybe the The Bystial Alba Los. It misses out on its first effect BUT if your opponent forces it off the field themselves you can decimate their extra deck for the next while.
@@Dramatic_Gaming
Or perhaps “Odd-Eyes Revolution Dragon” to use its last effect to force everything else from the field and GY back into both players decks (thus returning the 12 cards used for this custom effect).
My dude, you are overlooking your own cost. Activating this requires having *13 CARDS* between your field and hand! If you can generate that much card advantage, you should already be winning without this! If you can look at all those cards and determine the best course of action is to throw them all away for one big asshole that'll probably eat an Imperm or get turned into a turtle before it can do anything, your deck has some fundamental flaws that no amount of big dudes will fix.
konami on its way to somehow make negative card advantage a subjective topic.
You got to Hand Traps at #2 and I was about to be shocked if Grass wasn't #1
Two*

Top 10 Cards That Can Target Multiple Cards At Once
That's a good one
Book of Moon?
22:50 Idea for an Anti-Handtrap card:
_Hand-Trapper_ (EARTH)
Level 1
Warrior/Tuner/Effect
_This card that’s on your field or in your GY is Unaffected by the effects of cards that are activated from your opponent’s hand. Gains ATK/DEF Equal to the total ATK/DEF of any monsters who’s effects activated from Your Opponent’s hand. (Quick Effect) If Your opponent activates a card or summons a monster from their hand during your turn, you can Tribute 1 card from your hand or field: Negate that Activated Card or Summon, then you can apply 1 of the following effects:_
⚪️Equip that card to this card: While it’s equipped to this card, face-up cards you control are unaffected cards or by the effects of cards’s with the equipped card’s name.
⚪️Set 1 Normal Trap from your hand or Deck.
⚪️Normal Set 1 Flip Monster from your hand or deck.
_You can only use this effect of “Hand-Trapper” once per turn._
ATK/0 DEF/0
So if your opponent would Blossom you, not only would this card gain 1800 ATK/DEF, BUT you’d also have the option to either equip it to Hand-Trapper to make the face-up cards you control immune to any other instances of it, set 1 Normal Trap from your hand or deck OR Normal Set 1 Flip Monster from your hand or deck (none of these effects would trigger Blossom BTW). Meanwhile the ATK/DEF gain happens during _either_ players turn, so your opponent could unintentionally bulk up any Hand-Trapper’s you control alarmingly fast if they overdo too many hand effects involving monsters ( 24:18 The 1 “Dimension Shifter” alone would be 3400 ATK/DEF off the bat.)

It's card advantage no effect advantage
@@nahuelcosta5609 I get the point, but Ash is mostly a neutral card advantage and not strictly a -1 on its own. Extra deck monsters requiring 2+ materials are more appropriate to be added in the list than Ash.

Not even Kash can use it effectively lmao
I'm not quite sure you know how to count card advantage; cards in your deck are not part of the calculation, only cards in your hand and on the board.

I was hoping Pot of Desires would get an honourable mention because of all the times it was described as a minus 9 when it first came out
I imagine that it didn't make the list because all the cards mentioned here either let you get specific cards from your deck or impact the board in a significant way.
PoD lets you draw 2 cards which, while useful, doesn't guarantee you'll see the cards you need.
The -9 is inaccurate and it's more of a joke. The plus and minus is referred only to the cards in hands and field, because those are the cards you can interact with. The 10 cards in the deck can be looked as "I would probably not draw them anyway". In normal circumstances, you spend 1 card (Pot itself) to draw 2, so it's a plus 1.
