I can track my heart rate back to 2017.
There may be an increase over what could have been if I could have managed to lose weight without it but it's a wash for me as I've lost 70 lbs and become more active since starting this drug. On average my resting heart rate has dropped from 80 to 59. You mentioned this but I think this concern is much more relevant to patients who aren't obese

My starting BMi was 30 and i am now down to 25. I gained weight rapidly after Covid and my joints were hurting, i.e. sports was impossible. Slightly prediabetic and slight insulin resistance. I was on the lowest dose all the time, joint pain was gone after 6 weeks and my resting heartrate has decreased (monitored by my apple watch) from 68 to 58. Blood work is excellent too.

Heart rate rise is temporary. Mine came down to within 3 beats of rate prior to starting tirzepatide. Lots of mechanistic speculation here folks, let's stick with outcome data.

Yes, this heart rate issue is something lifters with heart issues should keep in mind before using Retatrutide, Tirzepatide, or Semaglutide. As with steroids or SARMs, it's always a good idea to start with low doses of these GLP-1s and then titrate up slowly.

RHR went up about 5-10 beats according to Oura. I can’t tell, sleep is still fine. Does go back down when I stop.

Semaglutide will increase HR. Tirzepatide usually doesn't, but everyone is different. Retatrutide will usually increase HR. As an interesting aside, Tirz and Reta have been shown to reduce whole body inflammation and reduces lipid and A1C profiles dramatically (Mine dropped 100 points/2.5 points in 45 days.) Reta has shown to not only protect against muscle wasting, but , may actually help build muscle. Using both Tirz and Reta, personally, I have not experienced a HR increase.

there's something likely going on centrally in the brainstem too, not just on vagus. this makes glp-1 agonist "crossing point" lower i would guess, but we'll await long-term data.

I wouldn’t worry too much, it could be your body adjusting to high levels of a hormone. But it should be used for obesity and proper lifestyle changes with it as you progress. I am a perfect example, had several news worthy events my life, found myself at 450lbs. Turned to food as an emotion, and was hooked on processed foods. Needed change. Tried Mounjaro 15 months ago, never went above 7.5mg. Now I am down to 225lbs. All blood markers good. Changed to a healthy lifestyle of working out, cardio, HIT and carnivore base diet but some vegetables. Inflammation reduction motivated me and the energy I got. Now I am at one shot every 3 weeks at 5mg slowly coming off. The only I noticed coming off, is less endurance in the gym. 3-4 days after a shot, I can do 2 hours in the gym. After a week I am down to 60-70 minutes.

I'm not sure taking the injection every 3 weeks is really helping. These drugs are only in the therapeutic range for one week (the first half life). After that they are out of the therapeutic range and are not in sufficient concentration to be effective. More than likely, you are losing a lot of weight due to the carnivore diet. These fad diets can work but they are not the healthiest in the long run. I agree about the heart rate issue as it is temporary for most. BTW, congratulations on the weight loss!

Not sure what happened for me but I samples GLP1 compounded semaglutide and had disturbingly high heart rate palpitations for 6 months at least after stopping. Don't have diabetes.

The biggest problem for me with these meds are that it's very similar to a crash diet , if you come off the drug the cravings will come back , so this means you have to stay on them for life.

    • @Mack-z9v

And? How is this different than people who go on Lipitor for life when they have high cholesterol? How is this different from people who go on Allopurinol for life when they get diagnosed with Gout? How is this different from people who go on Aspirin and other heart pills for life when they are diagnosed with a heart issue? 5 years from now it will be finally accepted by the general population that some people are genetically predisposed to hormonal issues with their digestive system.

@@laza6141 yes and I think within the next 5 years people will be taking over the counter DNA tests which will reveal they are lacking in the right ‘prescriptive DNA’ that makes their bodies receptive to the level (probably reduced) of GLP-1 hormones produced by their bodies, and thus why they need to supplement with extra GLP-1 through a syringe or a pill. (Kinda like insulin…..)

After I've been on a dose for a while my body adjusts and the rate drops back to "normal". When I go up it does bump up around 10 bpm which makes sleeping a challenge. It almost feels like a temp boost to my metabolism but at 2 in the morning :(

it has little to do with the drug and more to do with the extreme calorie deficit, you are increasing epinephrine, cortisol, glucagon that will raises heart rate and lower hrv. I've tested this being on a calorie surplus while on the medication my hrv went back up to normal.

Have lost 20 kilo on 2.5mg Tirzepatide, my heartrate decreased a bit. I also drink less coffee because i don’t need 2-3 espresso anymore.
My guess is that it is related to dose and individual consitution.
