@@SouperWy Long story short it's a FPS series where destructible terrain is one of the main draws, first game came out around 2001. Sadly, games mostly haven't gone in that direction.
Something worth mentioning I did not see you mention (unless I missed it): MR has a ban system in Diamond III and higher. Your team votes who to ban, and each team respectively bans 1 character. This can (and has been) used to ban the obnoxiously strong metas, so it somewhat balances out people abusing it as much.
Another solution would be to nerf all the team-up abilities so they are cool, but not game breaking. Remains to be seen how the meta will evolve around this...
@@mancamiatipoola The devs have said their philosophy is to make every character feel powerful (OP) rather than balance for neutrality. When everyone’s OP, no one truly is, and players will still feel strong and rewarded because of it. The exception to being over the top was Magneto’s team-up, which was actually adjusted after feedback and collected data. They had more important things to focus on for the Closed Beta so the attention to balance was not as prominent, which makes sense and is fine since nothing carries over to launch. Team-up abilities are more than just cool (as it should be in my opinion), they’re meant to encourage creative strategies and varied matchups. As of right now, every team-up is reasonable with Punisher standing out a bit more, which can be countered by just not standing in the open where he sits. His team-up was nerfed, though.
Imagine having a game mode where you get all infinity stones or gauntlet and you can snap the whole enemy team to end a round since it’s 50% of the lobby
Or a 6v1 horde mode where one player plays Dr Doom and has a fortress of defenses and an army of Doom bots while the other 6 have to fight their way to him.

Yes, let's hope he is a vanguard (tank). Just adapt the Marvel vs Capcom moves, bleed damage, Roahog auto-heal and, of course, his team up should be the fastball special: if he is paired with any big bruiser like Hulk, The Thing, Colossus, etc.. they can thrown Wolverine to the back line, so... the tank who is super dangerous at close who have low mobility, suddenly he lands near Rocket Racoon and let's go bub! *snikt*
Fun fact: Back in the alpha there were 20 unreleased characters in total (we got 4 in the beta so its 16 now) so I can see a very insane launch for this game in the future
That "goo" attack from Hulk is actually his thunder clap, which is cool as fuck. Asides from that, he should get an aoe smash attack if he doesn't already have one
Naah, it's a literal spit that hard stun characters. It does make sense with his "kit", Hulk freezes the enemy in place for him to get close and... smash with his little punches. Hulk definitely needs to be reworked, the punches should be slower, heavier and do more damage, etc.. They can salvage most of the assets, but the spit, bubbles and team up with Iron Man and Dr Strange, all that stuff needs to go away
@@NathanAllen-q5b I don’t think so cause this isn’t a big aaa game studio making it so I’m Imagining there is gonna be dlc for do or a way to earn him via challenges and stuff.
This is surprisingly similar tone to Payday 3, you need to do a follow-up when this comes out. I feel like in a lot of betas they allow progression to be much faster so players can experience the full game. There is a lot of potential here for extreme greed in how they choose to monetize.
I'd be shocked to be honest seeing how to my knowledge payday 3 died immediately but then again wouldn't be the first time a company tries to copy a failed experiment thinking "WE can do it Better"
The differences are that this is free and the game is still months away from releasing. Like I said, it's gonna boil down to if they listen to player feedback and how they monetize the game
13:08 a grab would actually be a super awesome mechanic for hulk. Like a grab and throw that can be recovered from with flying or like web slinging, but if they do t have that they are rag dolled. You could throw the threat away, similar to the benefit of the snot thing, or throw then in the ground in front of you for some damage, but then the threat is still right there.
Probably my favorite aspect of this game is that you can tell in every single design choice that this was made by people who really love these characters and love where they come from. The designs, the voice acting, the gameplay, all of it feels so faithful and so genuine
12:10: this has been ‘marvel snap’s business model and it seems to be working for them: - free game with loved marvel IP’s - play to earn new cards - pay for all of the massive customisation options (alternate card art, card boarders, avatars, etc) - a season pass with good cosmetics, and 1-2 new cards that aren’t too busted, and can then be unlocked outside the season pass - you *can* pay for new cards instead of earning them, but they’re come in bundles that’re rarely in the shop. This has made for a fairly balanced game, where there are multiple metas (destruction decks, movement, discarding, recalling/ playing the same cards over, etc) in a business that nets them hundreds of millions and which they support really well to keep things fresh. I really hope ‘Marvel rivals’ takes a similar approach, pumping out new cosmetics, maps, etc while the new heroes can be earned in-game to keep their profits good, the fans happy (they’re already doing that with good gestures like awesome, free skins) and the community alive for a long time.
My favourite thing about this game is the replay system. You can actually see the scoreboard, You can see how often your team and the enemy team died, You can even see on the timeline in the replay who killed who. It's amazing. Imagine if OW did that, but we all know they won't lmao.
It's awesome, so many stuff they nailed at day 0. Hell, Overwatch is struggling with the resurrection/invincibility gimmick for years, here it comes Adam Warlock and solve it, just like that. Thrown a lamp that flat out deny characters from dying? No, how about share the health pool of all allies in a area, that will raise their endurance a lot, but not deny death entirely... AND you can use your cosmic Jesus powers to mass rez the entire team, BUT they will revive with 20% of their health. Such a straight solution, clean and classy, something the Overwatch team could never perform
As someone who is a big fan of the Marvel Franchise (Movies and Comics), this game is a dream come true for me. I've been waiting for a good Marvel team up game, since Ultimate Alliance. As well as be accessible to anybody. I played it myself, and it's great! Thanks, Act Man, for getting me a code. Appreciate ya.
To be fair, the only people who ever say the more competitive and technically competent players "take the fun out" are the casual, non-competitive players that are unwilling to learn. Every game has rules, so it's not the fault of gamers and that a game's existence being inherently competitive upsets the people who refuse to accept that. 🤷
@DaggerPrince that's an opinionated statement. If enough people share that opinion, maybe the devs will change it, but how on earth can you come to that conclusion? Unless maybe you saw similar things in another game that hurt its competitive nature, team up attacks so far seem like a good bonus, not end all be all must have abilities. I'll give the game some time for my judgment.
@@DaggerPrince Ehm ehm, was that not in OW? (GOATS, double shield, etc...) You dont need team benefits to ruin the freedom of choosing heroes. Btw this game really got you going, this is like your 3rd comment trashing this game and defending OW, I wonder if there is a bias here :D
Okay that sold me on the game at 06:45 in the video that's a very nifty touch that the characters have unique voice interactions with the other characters that's a shitton of extra programming and voice acting work but it really adds so much extra to the immersion and fun of the game. I was curious about the game already but it looks very promising and I was a massive massive fan of Overwatch 1 and I am massively craving a good hero shooter there just hasn't been anything that has been able to come along and fill the gap left behind by Overwatch 1 and Team Fortress 2 before it
The leaked roster is over 40+ characters so this game has nothing to worry about regarding the character roster. The main thing I am worried about how they are going to fund the game but that's about it.
Patrolling the mines of Hoxes IV almost makes you wish for a "why is deep rock galactic so awesome!?" video by The Act Man. Can I get a rock and stone!?
Dude... An Hulkbuster Skin for Hulk could be so cool. Instead of Banner, it's an unarmored Stark and instead of Monster Hulk, it's Hulkbuster 2.0. That'd be sweet.
Seeing a game that uses one of the largest franchises characters actually done in a well done way is an insane breath of fresh air. It’s crazy we’re conditioned for the opposite, so I’m glad it’s been fun.
@@duncanw5644 the "buffed" heroes will be the new ones who you have to buy. to make you buy them. and any old character you like will be nerfed so you buy the new one. classic Multiplayer PvP games. complete trash.
@kashiiexe I don't know why you're asking him that. He's pointing out Marvel Rivals may go that route, which is a believable possibility. It's a free game and a hero shooter, so be wary.
@@DaggerPrince Almost all games nowadays have ways to earn buyable heroes for free. Tbh, I think Marvel Rivals will lock heroes behind in-game currency but instead of paying money for said currency you can also earn it through play time. 1,000 per hero sounds fair and you can earn that by playing 12 games a day. If you’ve unlocked all heroes by then, you’re probably already in love with the game. Micro transactions are more forgiving when the game is good.
Honestly this is the kind of game I’d be okay with Hulk just being the best hero in a 1v1 bar none. Like maybe some good duelists can beat him if played properly but Hulk can just be OP. He doesn’t need a slow. Edit: I literally told my friends the other day that this game went the route of MW2 with balance… “everything is overpowered, so nothing is”
Monetize skins not heroes is the biggest thing. If we have to unlock heroes and it's not by outrageous, then that can be fine too, but please dont paywall heroes out of all things.
I truly think the BIGGEST thing they can do to make this game truly succeed is keep it casual. Obviously have a ranked mode but in terms of the gameplay keep it as casual as possible. Overwatch and other games already have overtaken the competitive hero shooter but the fun factor of those games have absolutely been lost imo. This game has the best opportunity to appeal to that player base.

@@fabiancorrea8279 Deadpool is also a perfect fit for this kinda game. also, it'd be neat if he threw his cooldown icons like Shurikens.
There was this "leak" implying he was gonna be in the game with a DPS role.
He was leaked on the same list that had Thor and Jeff on it before they got released. He’s definitely going to be in the game
😮 expecting Ghost Rider, Wolverine, and Deadpool now
@@SL4PSH0CK sadly only Wolverine was in that initial list but those two will most definetly come down the line knowing how popular they are
2 videos in one day is crazy
2:51 You know what else is massive
LOW TAPER FADE
You mentioned the arenas rebuilding themselves mid match, and I’d just like to point out that this is only Asgard maps as they’re magic. :)
That "goo" attack from Hulk is actually his thunder clap, which is cool as fuck. Asides from that, he should get an aoe smash attack if he doesn't already have one
He is talking about Hulk's E ability, not his thunderclap. And it's some radiation sciencey stuff, not goo lol
Two uploads in a day is crazy. But thank God act man didn't only upload a tier list video.
I’m sure that Nolan North would delighted to voice Deadpool when he drops to this game.
I really hope they add DP but now he has me scared that everyone will be locked behind a paywall
@@NathanAllen-q5b I don’t think so cause this isn’t a big aaa game studio making it so I’m Imagining there is gonna be dlc for do or a way to earn him via challenges and stuff.

@dr_ehrenlos9394the low taper fade meme is still MASSIVE, we WILL be dragging ts into 2025
Venom
We just got two uploads in less than 5 hours, Act Man has been put in a sweat shop
I can't wait for Marvel Rivals 2 when they make a co-op!
You joke but a PVE mode for Marvel Rivals would go hard.
Yuri Lowenthal as Spiderman is goated.
And Steve Blum as wolverine
13:08 a grab would actually be a super awesome mechanic for hulk. Like a grab and throw that can be recovered from with flying or like web slinging, but if they do t have that they are rag dolled. You could throw the threat away, similar to the benefit of the snot thing, or throw then in the ground in front of you for some damage, but then the threat is still right there.
0:33 my condolences
That makes two of us.
I’m guessing he said “That flarkin’ hurt”.
Yeah he does
Probably my favorite aspect of this game is that you can tell in every single design choice that this was made by people who really love these characters and love where they come from. The designs, the voice acting, the gameplay, all of it feels so faithful and so genuine
12:10: this has been ‘marvel snap’s business model and it seems to be working for them:
- free game with loved marvel IP’s
- play to earn new cards
- pay for all of the massive customisation options (alternate card art, card boarders, avatars, etc)
- a season pass with good cosmetics, and 1-2 new cards that aren’t too busted, and can then be unlocked outside the season pass
- you *can* pay for new cards instead of earning them, but they’re come in bundles that’re rarely in the shop.
5:56 he said that FLARKING hurt its a swear word substitute that was in eidos Montreals Guardians of the Galaxy game
My favourite thing about this game is the replay system.
You can actually see the scoreboard,
You can see how often your team and the enemy team died,
You can even see on the timeline in the replay who killed who.
Love the TF2 music in the background. The soundtrack is fantastic. Love playing their music on guitar and bass
Abandoned Dead game 2*
@@maskedmonsterwell they sorted out the bots so. That’s not entirely true but it’s a fair assessment
I like how spider man plays almost exactly like he does in his own games
I'm so glad that the heroes are all usable from the get-go, this game is so fun
I fully didn't expect to like Marvel Rivals, usually not my type of game, but i can't stop playing the damn thing
Ultimate alliance is the goat
marvel avengers: cheap copies of the MCU
marvel rivals: my own cool designs
FINALLY the Xmen are back in action! Ain’t played them since Marvel vs Capcom…
now that its out im happy to inform you the unlock heros option is gone so they mightv actually chosen to do it ow1 style
Rocket said “Flark” because that is his space F word of choice. It’s from the comics and he also said it a lot in the Guardians of the Galaxy game.
they actually listened and removed "unowned" and all heroes are free!
Okay… a capture the infinity gauntlet would be sik
For the Hulk spit. It would be kind of jank, but the ability could stay the same, but instead Hulk throws a boulder and the enemy is trapped under it.
i haven't heard of a game getting such a warm reception in a while, and I love it. Nobody have a chance to doom it with doubt...........yet
Steve Blum as Wolverine brought a tear to my eye.
The characters will be free from launch
And it seems like they listen to feedback so this game is going to be absolute peak
Exploring the backyard battleground really makes u want the act man to review plant vs zombies garden warfare 2 day 26
8:42 Oh people are gonna do that without the team up benefit either way. Players will optimize the fun out of everything
To be fair, the only people who ever say the more competitive and technically competent players "take the fun out" are the casual, non-competitive players that are unwilling to learn. Every game has rules, so it's not the fault of gamers and that a game's existence being inherently competitive upsets the people who refuse to accept that. 🤷
@@SSZeroget back to your basement
@@SSZero the team up benefits are still a really bad idea. itll enfroce a meta and ruin freedom in choosing heroes.
I like when The Act Man acts with Kelski
Patrolling the mines of Hoxes IV almost makes you wish for a "why is deep rock galactic so awesome!?" video by The Act Man. Can I get a rock and stone!?
ROCK AND STONE ⛏️⛏️⛏️🪨🪨🪨

Did i hear a Rock and Stone?
Rock and stone to the bone!
FOR KARL!
Good news, heroes will all be free, and cosmetics are the way you pay money... just like you asked for, Act Man. Hulk also has more "oomph" as well.
"That flarken hurt" flarken is a curse word in the gairdians comics. It was in the movies too, I'm pretty sure?
Here we are 4 months later and this game is literally blowing up.
It's crazy of people talk about destructive arenas and no one is talking about The Finals
Overwatch: youre just a cheap knock off
Marvel Rivals: oh no no, im the UPGRADE
Marvel Rivals: scratch that we are THE ORIGINAL Yall Not even real super hero's hahahahahahahaha
btw its been confirmed now all heros will be unlocked and free at launch and beyond
Dude... An Hulkbuster Skin for Hulk could be so cool. Instead of Banner, it's an unarmored Stark and instead of Monster Hulk, it's Hulkbuster 2.0. That'd be sweet.
No hulkbuster for tony 1
Wolverine feels very underpowered, not enough damage for how squishy he is, he's cool, just needs a bit of tweaking, loving Jeff and iron fist
Since the closed alpha test a few months ago already 4 new heroes. They’ve done a great job
Seeing a game that uses one of the largest franchises characters actually done in a well done way is an insane breath of fresh air. It’s crazy we’re conditioned for the opposite, so I’m glad it’s been fun.
Once the meta develops there WILL be OP characters and a stale meta. You can't avoid it in games like this.
Then the devs nerf the OP characters, buff new characters and make a fresh meta.
@@duncanw5644 the "buffed" heroes will be the new ones who you have to buy. to make you buy them. and any old character you like will be nerfed so you buy the new one. classic Multiplayer PvP games. complete trash.
@@DaggerPrincelmao name a single succesful hero shooter with that monetization
The good news is that all the heroes are said to be free at launch and beyond
Act man has been killing it lately! 🎉❤
11:39 they did:)
A good game from marvel is a surprise but a welcome one
Honestly this is the kind of game I’d be okay with Hulk just being the best hero in a 1v1 bar none. Like maybe some good duelists can beat him if played properly but Hulk can just be OP. He doesn’t need a slow.
Edit: I literally told my friends the other day that this game went the route of MW2 with balance… “everything is overpowered, so nothing is”
loved that "from a bunch of scraps!" edit
Act man with the back to back uploads 😎👍🏽🎉
Monetize skins not heroes is the biggest thing. If we have to unlock heroes and it's not by outrageous, then that can be fine too, but please dont paywall heroes out of all things.
Spoiler all hero’s are free and unlocked at launch.
12:16 - Yeah, that's definitely Hulk in the Ironman suit.
Technically in Infinity War, tho it wasnt Hulk, it was Bruce in it.
I think green goblin and cyclops would be dope.
7:45 It would be a cool little detail if regenerated environments had cracks and imperfections on them. Just to give the map a sense of damage and feeling.
