In this video, I do my own little somewhat in-depth analysis of the PlayStation 5 PRO Fan noise, during idle, gaming, the disc drive noise, I mention the firmware the console ships with, and my overall thoughts on if its worth getting today. The one correction I'd like to make is that the PS5 PRO is on a 5NM SOC process, not 4NM, as I mentioned on video. Initially, a website posted it was a 4NM SOC chip, but that information has since been taken down, and the newest latest information seems to show it being a 5NM process now, which I believe is the correct information. Also, the app I used for measuring the fan noise might be off by about +3 or +4 decibels. So keep that in mind when reading the levels as displayed on video. I did mention the SOC of this PS5 PRO be comparable to an AMD 7800XT, but it appears it closer to the 7700XT from what I've gathered online recently. It's not even close to a 7700 or 7800 XT I believe digital foundry said it was closer to a 6700 in raw power. The PSSR helps it a lot but it's still upscaling from a lower resolution and has been stated that the pssr can cause artifacting and other issues in games.

@michaelbell9794 I ordered mine from Walmart about 2 months before the PS5 PRO came out. But now, from what I understand, it is sold out mostly everywhere.
Hi, could you tell me what is the name of the app you use to measure decibels? And another question, so do you think that the sound of all the PS5 Pro is what you show or can it be louder or less loud? Greetings and I wish you a good day
@SAN26451 The app is called Decibel X. It is only available on android phones, from what I understand. I think the sound is tolerable it is a little louder than my PS5 Slim was with the Foxconn fan, but not horrible loud like say an old dusty PS4 PRO on old thermal paste. It's tolerable, but definitely not as quiet as, say, my Xbox Series X, which has always been the most quiet system I've owned. I think my Series X measured around 37 DB on that same app if I remember correctly.
I did not hear one in the net that don't has it where they actually capture the noise. They all sound somewhat similar like mine I think and little bit high pitched. I guess you can hear it also slightly like a little tinnitus in the console main menu if there is no other noise in the room from the PSU?
@ashleyjames89 This is with the extended feet come with the disc drive. The PRO only comes with a small set of pegs because of the lack of the disc drive, which you shouldn't use with a disc drive because the console will not sit correctly.
It's almost as powerful as a 6800, its already been tested and a 6800 outperforms it. The 7000 series cards use rdna 3 and this is still on rdna 2. If the architecture changed at all the ps5 games wouldnt be able to run on it. All it has is more compute units and rt cores, but its not that big of a jump because the ps5 is between a 6700 and 6700xt in performance.
Wrong. There is no new game which was developed on the console so we not sure yet the full power. Also there is a comparison with a 6800xt f1 24 comparison with full rt and the conclusion is a 6800 or even a bit more its really depends on how they tweak the game.
There is a Dragon's Dogma 2 comparison with 6800 xt. The console is dope and it's better than a 6800. Also better upscaling and also better optimisation in a closed dedicated system.
I had to return my ps5 pro back to sony. It is noticeably louder than my og ps5. The main issue is how loud the hum and coil whine is. It almost sounds like a blow dryer. Also, the attached disc drive is pretty loud compared to my base ps5 and its vibration is pretty strong to the point I can feel the floor rumbling from the disc drive. This is a non issue with my ps5.
The fan noise is quite a bit more louder than the original PS5, I've seen some people saying that it's because there's an SSD installed but I'm not sure
One thing I noticed got the fan louder than any game on my launch PS5 is Alan Wake 2 on quality mode. It’s kinda a shame to me so far as I loved the fact the original was and stayed so quiet no matter what. The gains here don’t seem to warrant a louder console in my opinion from what I’ve seen thus far. But hey, if GTA 6 is dramatically better on the Pro (not 60fps due to the CPU) and only gets as loud as it did in Alan Wake 2 then I’d be fine with it. I think that game will be between 1080p and 1440p on the base PS5. If they use PSSR to get it up to 4K then that alone would make this worth the money to me until it comes to PC.
In this video, I do my own little somewhat in-depth analysis of the PlayStation 5 PRO Fan noise, during idle, gaming, the disc drive noise, I mention the firmware the console ships with, and my overall thoughts on if its worth getting today.

Does the coil whine you have on your PS5 Pro bother you or you're ok with it?
@@theveay I think my particular PS5 PRO has less coil whine than my PS5 Slim, but the fan does make a little bit more noise.
@@LousWRXthere is PSU coil whine it's not just the fan. It are the capacitors in the PSU or is this also called PSU coil?
I did not hear one in the net that don't has it where they actually capture the noise. They all sound somewhat similar like mine I think and little bit high pitched. I guess you can hear it also slightly like a little tinnitus in the console main menu if there is no other noise in the room from the PSU?
My ps5 pro is def louder than my launch ps5, the fan
My ps5 pro (no disc drive) is silent i menu but in game like TLOF (pro mode) it hits 57 to 65 db but i measured it behind and not in front of it....
Are they the feet that came with your pro ?
I wonder if the fan is louder because you have a SSD installed.
?
I've installed the same SSD in the OG PS5 and PS5 Pro.
The Pro is louder
I can send you the video of the noise if you want, I think it's not normal, it sounds like a beep coming and going.
It’s so ugly with the disk drive attached
👍
Good overall look lol it looks awful. Only good on vertical and without the disk drive. The best looking console to date was the Xbox one x.
Series X is so quiet it's ridiculous
