He saying due to the double cherry in 3d world and the bros moves in M&L allowed him to use the bros attacks cause Mario has been taunt how to use them before like spin bros or the high jump along with moves like the copy flower would make more then one clone per Mario time when use also Mario can summon chain chomps in Partners in time and have Mega Man get run over while jumping on his head for damage also Mario has more experience and outclasses Mega Man in most states.

I feel like you did Mario justice with this analysis. sometimes I feel some characters feats are measured in Deathbattle without regard for if it's considered a gag feat. I appreciate that you take the effort to distinguish what can be considered canon or a gag.

In Superstar Saga, Mario has the reaction time to dodge lasers and lightning, which is far faster than Bowser's fireball. Don't think it would've been enough to give him the win but it's just something I felt like pointing out.

The problem with this video is that in the mega man lore it clearly states that mega man can only hold up to 8 powers at a time so it does make sense what they did in the video with letting him use more but it just kinda makes it unfair for Mario
On the flip side of that though, Mario doesn't really "have" his abilities natively. He finds them as he adventures through whatever realm he finds himself in. And none of them are permanent either. They either have a time dictated duration, or are gone after a single hit. So for him to be pulling all of these abilities out of nowhere in a fight doesn't make much sense either.

If you're refering to the games themselves, they probably gave him a 8 weapons limit in order to make the game balanced

Funny story, I saw your DougDoug video far before I found Smash Bracket and heard about Mario vs. Mega Man from there, but assumed it was just a normal one-off fan-animation instead of realizing there was an entire versus debate series lolol
I feel like some people miss the point of this series. Like mentioned by Ink previously, it's a different look to VS than a lot of other shows, taking a more literal look into the games and how they are shown/displayed, as well as being way stricter on how the laws of physics are than how VS typically uses them. Most characters aren't actually depicted in canon as VS does, as most characters aren't designed in mind to be as powerful as we place them in VS. This is what this show is about, looking at how the character is actually shown to be in games, rather than giving them the placings we do in VS. And I find that a rather interesting and refreshing concept for a VS show.
(And don't @me, but I think Mega Man wins the fight even with traditional VS accounted for with what's given.)

Here’s some feats from a few games that you could, but definitely shouldn’t, take into account
At the very end of Galaxy, Bowser’s defeat results in the creation of a black hole, and not just one of the mini ones seen around the game, but a real one that starts to absorb everything around it. Mario, however, is given some form of immunity to the pull, as one moment he is being pulled and the next he is stopped. After the Lumas sacrifice themselves, the black hole absorbs, according to Rosalina, everything and the universe, creating an explosion that Mario has to survive before being pulled into Rosalina’s pocket dimension thing. Mario is directly said to not have died here, and as the Lumas are already being reborn in the cutscene, Rosalina must have pulled him in after he took the explosion, which Rosalina claimed recreated the universe so that it was slightly different than before.
TL:DR: Mario survived the Big Bang
Also in Galaxy, Mario is seen constantly throughout the game flying in between galaxies in around 17-20 seconds, which can be a distance of around 1,000,000 lightyears. These Launch stars can be created by singular Lumas, as demonstrated by the pink And Green Lumas, so it’s likely Mario’s personal Luma could do the same. This would give Mario an impossibly fast, at least reactionary speed.
Mario can Fly without power-ups. After defeating the Mecha-Wiggler, Mario takes off into the air to do a few hundred victory laps around the Metro Kingdom. Judging by the positions of the sun and moon, he had to have flown from early-night until mid-day, flying without fatigue for 12-16 hours straight.
The Mad-Sun enemies in Mario games are always called suns, and it has never been said, “they may look like the sun, but they are really just minions of bowser that are shaped like the sun.” So it could be possible to make the arguement that either through invincibility stars or just throwing turtle shells with enough brute-force, Mario could be able to destroys stars.
Okay, This one is definitely not an accountable feat, I just wanted to bring it up. In the game, Mario and Luigi Paper Jam bros., Paper Mario and Mario are said to be about as strong as each other, just having different abilities and arsenals, but the same amount of power behind them. In Super Paper Mario, Paper Mario has to face two bosses back to back, each of which claim they have the ability to destroy EVERY MARIO UNIVERSE. While Bowser and Peach do also show up to offer support to Mario, if the player chooses to play as them, Mario is technically able to face and defeat these threats on his own
So yeah, Multiversal Mario is a thing, but it should never be used in Vs. debates or shows, or really even acknowledged
Underrated comment...
The Galaxy feats are contradicted by the ending cutscene of the game and are shown to be way smaller than the planet of the mushroom kingdom. Meaning that the Travel speed feats are contradicted by that. The Black hole feats are also outliers Since Bowser was getting hurt by these balls. But somehow survived the black hole. Another inconsistency is the Universe resetting which bowser survived and got knocked out of his state.
To put the nail into the coffin according to the Guide from the galaxy games Mario and peach got shielded from the blast. Meaning that their durability would not scale to these events. But Rosalina could certainly be Universal+

Pretty much every other VS battling shows take characters at their absolute best ignoring outliers and contradictions but you guys take what is realistically the average for each character

The only thing I don’t understand is why he lost the double cherry. It’s not timed based like the mega mushroom or the metal cap. You only loose it if you get hit. So did Mario lose it due to getting hit because if not then why did he loose it.

Hey just some feedback, an insane amount of tournament footage is out there, probably at least a set for most match ups, I think it will be entertaining to have some pro gameplay in the background
Animation was sick, presentation was sick.
But I reeeeally don't like the research. I mean, it's cool that it's different than other VS shows. But it still feels wrong because you're trying to make sense of them by bringing them down to our real life physics, instead of doing the hard work to use real life physics to make sense of their game world. Like, of course it doesn't LOOK like Mario is lightspeed in that section, because then the game would be too fast to even play it lmao. See the issue? I like the idea of challenging the general view of a characters strength. But not when it takes the easy way and tries to force that character into our real world logic. Plus there was just lots of result-changing feats that fit the requirements of the ruleset, but weren't even mentioned. Feels more like "Creator chooses" than "Different research, different result" y'know?
Yeah the method isn't for everyone, but it's something I feel like I am able to apply evenly to everyone. We just got a team of researchers together so I am not doing everything myself, which should help things feel more complete despite the same standard being attached. It's the way we are going to do it, but as we get better at it, it should feel less jarring. Regardless, even if you can never get on board with the research I am glad you enjoyed the animation! The animators are soooo talented and I am lucky to be working with them
Would Mario win if you did count his reaction time ability in Mario and Luigi dream team and his ability to throw castles like it was nothing in Super Mario world?

@ZeroXVA he scales to other star children like wario and dk, who've survived delt and survived moon level explosions, and bowser, who's actually tanked exploding and collapsing castles multiple times and survived burning in the sun and black holes. Even if he didn't directly scale in power, the fact that mario can do significant damage to any of them speaks a lot to his power. He absolutely has the ability to kick castles like a soccer ball.
@ZeroXVA just because nintendo's focus isn't on scaling doesn't mean the community can't find the consistencies to scale themselves. Mario characters have quite often shown feats higher than castle level, even in side games. And if you really wanted to dismiss every feat as "toon antics", then you're essentially admitting that everything being done is a result of toon force anyways, which still makes them absurdly powerful anyways.
@ZeroXVA I'm not even saying he's an omnipotent force, heck I'd hardly say he's universal, but it's pretty disingenuous to downplay feats in his series like that. There's a lot of these kind of feats that these characters pull off, especially the star children. While a majority of them are presented in a goofy fashion, when scaled to each other (as they should since they all battle each other relatively frequently), a lot of them hold up. The gameplay of the main games may be more small scale than what the characters can really do, but that's why judging a characters limits purely by the esthetics of the gameplay or their world is very disingenuous. It's either "the star children are about moon-planet level with a possibility to go further", or "the mario characters have toon force and can do ridiculous stuff whenever they want and only choose not to for contextual reasons". You can't pretend it doesn't mean anything.
@ZeroXVA well dk obviously was using almost all of his strength to punch that moon. And mario odyssey shows that the actual size of their moon is somewhat accurate to our own. Plus dk being able to hurt bowser who's walked away from black holes and burning suns means that level of power still tracks. Like, there IS a consistent through-line if you try to find it. These feats aren't as inconsistent as you think.

(I know this video is two years old but I just wanted to tell you some stuff just in case in the future) a lot of some of the stuff he does is because he has some tune force not that much but he does have it and dreams are considered to be their own universe is in the Mario universe since it is infinite and the time limits on the power ups are just game mechanics said by the creator of Mario and it does confirm in the game Mario odyssey. It is indeed a lightning bolt.

Awesome video, great animation all around. Though there are a few things that bug me.
Mario could have won quite easily in a multitude of ways. In the most recent games, he can hold a multitude of Stars. So using them one after the other would grant him constant invincibility, making it so Mega Man's attacks wouldn't affect. Even the Black Hole that Mega Man won with, which would indeed suck him in, but he has survived their effects in Mario Galaxy games. So him not dying would be plausible.
Most of all, is the White Cat Suit. He becomes invincible in it for an entire level, and this fight could be considered one. So that also counts as a win condition.
Though, I will say, him using multiple items at once was a bit of a cheat, admitted. But counting the Stars and Cat Suit, it wouldn't make any difference.
Again, an awesome video, just a few things that are worth mentioning. Mega could win with multiple Black Holes at once, but in this fight he only used one, so counting that, in my opinion, Mario could win.

Using lots of power ups may be considered cheating, but it was allowed for Mega Man so I see no problem with it being allowed for Mario.

@@josephzx2335 Most likely yeah, the fight was very close as ink said but literal invincibility is a bit too much for mega man to deal with. He can only really shoot his black hole to counteract but mario can probably avoid it.
@@DerpKnightS3 Yeah, in the games Mega Man's black hole is only big enough to absorb enemies smaller than him, and given that Mario is taller and has survived many black holes in the past, I think that it would be okay.
Also how about Megaman’s double gear system? If he uses that time freeze and time slow while restoring his charges. Can’t he just stall out every power up he has? Not to mention that there’s an upgrade that makes his double gear system infinite? Not hating on Mario, but Megaman feels OP.

I consider Mario’s strength and his animation in smash and Mario 64 where his hands and feet grow when he punches and kicks a part of the “Super Mushroom theory”. That being that he eats a ton of Super Mushrooms, which grant him immense strength and allows him to change size at will, rather than just growing double in size and that’s that

You forgot one huge outlier that ends the line instantly. The gold leaf from nsmb 2 and mario 3d land. This thing makes you invisible indefinitely and kill any and everything that touches it. If this was used megaman would not stand a chance

I'm not saying you're wrong, but a black hole wouldn't have been what did mario in . Also Megaman is tough, but I'm still not 100% sure this couldn't have gone either way. Even screw attack said mario can use a time stop mechanic. If this is your conclusion maybe do a better job actually bringing the point home. You've got to do heavy research for these things or risk disrespecting a character

Why Mario would win about all of them (key word about)
1) The black hole would be useless against Mario sense he one time out swam a black hole (true story)
2) White tanooki (that’s all there is to it don’t think I really need to explain much else for reason 2)
3) Mario is like way stronger than mega man Mario lifted a castle in super Mario world and punted it away but some people think that super Mario world takes place inside marios head so here’s a better representation of his strength, in super Mario sunshine he dragged around a big chain chomp the size of a wrecking ball made out of gold don’t even get me started on how heavy gold really is
4) Mario is (probably) faster in terms of speed in his first console game he was faster than sonic (no really look it up) and is fast enough to run up walls.
And finally 5.) He’s like way more durable he survived being in the middle of an explosion about the size of a nuke and was unharmed he also survived a super nova (at least I think he did)
So mega man wouldn’t be able to even hurt Mario
So there you have it Mario is stronger,faster and more durable with that in mind there is no way mega man can beat Mario let alone even catch or damage him

Of course I'm a bit disappointed that Mario lost, but I think it's rather lame how Mega Man won, especially because it was decided to largely discount the effects of black holes

I think the analysis in this chapter is reallly flawed and dated. Like the whole megaman speed feat thing was a mess, so you're saying a laser that megaman dodged doesn't make him at least light speed because in the game the laser was slower? Of course it has to be slower, how the heck do you plan to dodge a laser faster than your character, it's a videogame after all. But anyway, i'm hyped for the remake!
