11:17 "Ridley's what happens if you take the most horrifying, terrible, evil thing you could possibly think of and multiply it by six." "He stands at 18 feet tall." Why does this imply that the most horrifying thing I can imagine is 3 feet tall
Considering said pink puffball might as well be an eldritch abomination that consumes souls like popcorn aka me when I haven't eaten all day. And I just love how Kirby made an ever so small cameo in this episode riding on the train Link summoned. That made me smile.
Umm, actually since Ridley has volume, you'd need to divide his volume instead of his height. So you'd have to take the cubic root of 18³/6. The result would be almost 10 feet! Sorry, please ignore the smart-ass within me...
That ending was the most creative use of abilities I've seen in a long time, and these quality analysis segments show character greater than a lot of other analysis segments out there and they just keep getting better, good stuff team, I look forward to the future.
The song of time when Link debated to himself if he should or not use the Fierce Deity Mask was a great touch. The Hero of Time had to go through too much, and just putting on that mask causes him to feel the suffering of all of the people of Termina, in exchange of the power of that mysterious god. So yeah, it makes sense he would doubt about using it, leaving the masks as a last resort
@@quilavalover8232 That would make a lot of sense!! and tbh would be cool. Heads up from inside info from the team: (minor spoilers for alt ending) *it is gonna be BRUTAL*
@@thesilentshadow1256 Imma take a Guess. Rather than go for Strategy to win, Link Hooksett the Mask over to himself and tries to put it on, and goes Full power on Ridley. But despite bring a Fierce Deity, The Cunning God uses Links rage to avoid his attacks, and Starts to tear him apart, showing how Fierce a Deity Ridley is. As Link stumbles back, Ridley steals the Mask, puts it on, and tears Link apart slowly and brutally as he roars to the Sky, covered in Blood.
@@quilavalover8232 I think it will be more emotionally traumitizing. Like after Navi dies, the hourse he revived, Ridley gets and kills infront of him, and than he continues to taunt Link as he slowly dies of radiation in pain. or he tears Link Limb from limb.
Some constructive criticism for the fight: It was a step up from Joker vs Snake. It looks better aesthetically and the movement is more fluid. Also, props for getting a voice actor for Ridley. That said, the fight is still way too slow-paced IMO. Several moments linger for too long and the movements feel sluggish more often than not. The blows also lack impact, a combination of the animation being slow and floaty, and the sound design not being great. For instance, when Link throws the pillar at Ridley, it didn't feel like the pillar had any weight or like Link threw it hard enough for it to shatter. Finally, I feel like Ridley barely did anything for a good portion of the fight. He kinda just stands there and takes Link's attacks at several points, without any sort of retaliation, and doesn't have many memorable attacks or uses of his abilities, while Link gets to use a lot of his arsenal in memorable ways. Not trying to be too harsh. The animation is definitely impressive. I just wanted to let you know what I think could be improved in the future.
I really enjoyed this episode! But yeah these criticisms are valid, especially Ridley not doing anything which I really felt the impact of (of lack thereof) throught the fight. On the topic of quality though, 3d animation is extremely hard to do well, I can't emphasise this enough. The fact 3d is so much closer to reality makes it way easier to spot flaws. Because of this, I feel like 3d battles should be saved for only the fights that are BIG deals, fan favourite matchups where the vision can only be brought to reality in 3d. If they were less common, more time could be spent on them to be a higher quality. (This may not work, I don't know anything about producing these, but I think it's an idea worth considering)
3D animation is a pain in the ass to do well, but yeah, the sound design really could use a bit of help. Several of the blows that were supposed to feel impactful felt more like a pool noodle.
Considering that this is only they're second 3d animation and it's improved this much, they deserve alot a credit. The criticism is valid, especially the sound design, but I'm impressed with how good it is
"He's a symbol of courage. The fact that no matter how bad things get, no matter how evil things are, that you're never truly alone." That's it. That's why Link is my favorite fictional character of all time. It might be a bit silly, but the Legend of Zelda is one of the things that's helped me deal with a lot of shit throughout my life, and that idea- a genuine, true hero, a representation of all of humanity's capacity to do good, even in the face of something truly vile- is one of the most inspiring concepts I can even imagine. Link isn't just the Hero of Hyrule; he's a representation of the best of all of us, and the idea that at its core, humanity can be truly good, and that even in our darkest times, there's still a brighter future for us if we're willing to make it a reality. And that's an idea that's done a lot to help me keep going in the last couple of years. This is probably my favorite depiction of Link I've ever seen in a Vs. Show. The creative use of his arsenal and the utilization of it in the animation honestly surpassed Link vs. Cloud, which is probably my single favorite Death Battle episode. Ridley was a fantastic choice for his opponent, not only to see a clash between two incredibly intelligent combatants, but also to deliver a genuine story of good triumphing over evil, just like the ones that make Vs. episodes like Iron Man vs. Lex Luthor so beloved. Kirby vs. Jigglypuff showed me the Smash Bracket team's passion. Ken vs. Terry showed me their talent. And Link vs. Ridley made me fall in love with this series, just like Death Battle's best made me fall in love with it all those years ago. I really hope that, once it's all said and done, Smash Bracket and Crossover Colosseum are remembered as some of the Vs. Community's best. Between you and Death Battle managing to make a massive comeback in quality in the last few years, I think this community's future is bright, and I very much look forward to seeing everything that you do next. I know I say it every time, but I can't say it enough. Utterly fantastic work.
Honestly both character were depicted way better through this series to an with Death Battle. Can’t forgive them for the mis information they did with the Link ca Cloud rematch.
I like the sequence when Ridley turns to a giant, as Link sits there wondering if he could win and thinking of his fallen comrade. When the music turns from a soft melody to a more metal melody as Link rises with the courage to fight giant Ridley, knowing what he needs to do
Here is the timestamps for whomever wished for it... 0:00 Intro 0:25 The Courageous Link 10:37 The Terrifying Ridley 16:13 The Bit Before the Fight 16:47 The Fight! 18:27 The Actual Fight! 23:46 Why the Winner Won! 26:18 A Foreshadowed Match-Up is Approaching 20:14 The Best Move in the Fight (I mean Its Kirby driving a flying Train)
MY FAVORITE FIGHT AND BY FAR!!!! The creativity of Link's items was amazing and you have no idea how happy I was to see the giant mask. This was beyond amazing.
That. Was. Epic! SPOILERS BELOW! Even through Ridley lost, I love how much he got to shine with how scary and smart he is. When he threw that phazon canister at Link’s shield and forced him to get rid of it, I was gobsmacked. And when he STOLE one of Link’s masks and used it for himself, I squealed in both excitement and terror. Looking forward to his alternate ending. And hopefully he gets another fight or something on Crossover Colosseum. Or an exhibition with another Smash fighter… I DON’T CARE JUST GIVE US MORE RIDLEY! 🤣
@@rodrickgoldberg2324 Well it is single elimintation, but confirmed by the creators, for season 1, the loosers go into their own single elimination tournament, and the winner of that tournament gets to get into season 2 (respects to whoever that is lol) So 1 person out of looser's gets to not be a looser.
YOOOOO Thank you for having me on as Urbosa! I'm super impressed by how you were able to simplify the LOZ timeline, and the animators and musicians did such a kickass job!!! 🔥🔥🔥
God, that finisher was awesome. Really showing off what I view as Link's greatest asset: His ingenuity. Link often fights foes who outclass him physically, so has to come up with something more clever then head-on combat, like irritating Valoo even more so he causes a stone slab on the ceiling to drop on Gohma, or reflecting energy balls with a net, or ETC. Link is a formidable warrior of course, but his satargetic acumen and puzzle-solving skills are even more valuable. His mind is quite possibly the only weapon in his arsenal that's sharper then the Master Sword, and the ending showed that well.
This was definetly one of the best episodes in Smash Bracket you guys have ever done, or any other vs show out there. If Ken vs Terry was Your Saitama vs Popeye, in terms creativity and animation, this Is on another level and cannot be compared to anything else. One think I love, Is that you respected Link's character (Yes people out there who say the opposite, Link does have characterization), he Is a strategist, a loyal knight, a friend, and most importantly, a Hero to the very end. You can see that even with the friends he lost along the way, and Is about to fall into despair, Link still has the courage to keep on fighting and strategizing to defeat his foe and live to fight another day as the Hero of Hyrule. But Ridley Is no slouch either, he Is a tough, durable, cunning, deadly, and intelligent fighter who wants to soread to the universe, that he IS the Cunning God of Death, but he has an ego the size of himself that often Is His sownfall, like in this episode where he had all he needed to win, and even got the edge múltiple times in the fight, but didn't notice the smallest things that were ultimately his downfall. Amazing job everyone, I will wait patiently to see What happens next, until then, see you next time.
The fight was really creative and Ridley had great characterization, (spoilers below) but he got bodied for 90% of the actual fight. He got a few good hits in, but it seemed like Link was the only one getting in any attacks outside of when they went to that new area. Still entertaining as hell to watch, though. By the way, get well soon Ink.
I think Ridley was babbling too much against Link, while he really goes feral when he actively hunts. Then again, every single one of Ridley's attacks could be lethal if Link didn't evade them (which he did, and when he didn't he just healed it), so it was more of a choreography thing than the actual fight itself. Still, very fun.
I like how the ending has link actually being creative and strategic rather than something like just putting on the fierce deity mask and one shotting ridley
My new favourite right here! The analysis had great, respectful coverage of both and decent humour, but the fight is the star of the show! It’s really well animated with very few errors, both fighters got to shine, showing off their smarts in interesting ways, as well good character moments, and there’s some stellar voice acting. Seriously, getting Levitation to do grunts work for Link, and giving Ridley a voice in the form of Kedan was a great choice and both executed their roles next to flawlessly (also Bella as Mipha and Kelsy as Urbosa for the one line they had each did great too). Plus Skye somehow made the two franchises’ music work into a score that I’m looking forward to listening to whenever possible. Honestly my only two more serious complaints is that Link got more moments of strategy while Ridley got more moments of character. To be fair though Link in game is silent and had a lot more weapons to show off and the moments we do get of strategy from Ridley and characterization from Link were great so it’s not too bad. Secondly is the post-analysis, which don’t get me wrong is an obvious improvement on how the previous episode was explained being much more detailed and actually going into Link’s strategy and arsenal in order to justify his win. It’s just that the durability calc for Link felt like it came out of nowhere since there wasn’t an explanation of the multipliers. This doesn’t make the research bad it’s just that I think an explanation for that feat would clear the air. Overall a 10/10 Amazing work, all of you who worked on this episode and looking forward to the next episode.
I actually think that this is probably the best way to scale / do link in a verses battle. My reason being that because of the breath of the wild DLCs there is a pretty big implication that if you royal family maintains artifacts of the hero so it's not unreasonable to say that he could get all the stuff.
This was a totally superior representation of Link's arsenal and the dynamic combinations made with them in a battle scenario than what death battle presented. I'm very impressed.
@@DamontheDemon7 considering you pinged me and only me in this thread, I must say. I'm honored. I dont think I could do as good of an impression, but I could try! So about that movie...
Jesus christ. This has no right to be this great. This is literal perfection. The amount of passion poured into this show grows more apparant with each new episode
Easily the best 3D episode they’ve done so far. I can’t get enough of this fight, especially with how close it is. Ridley could’ve easily taken the win, but Link deals with this kind of thing pretty often and usually has the defenses necessary to keep the battle going. What I love most about the animation, however, is it’s subversion of (at least my) expectations and how it kind of represents the results. I was expecting Link to turn into Fierce Deity Link and slice Ridley into two. But having him force Ridley to wear the Deku Mask and using the Fire Rod to burn him into a crisp is such a unique finisher, and again, it reflects the results very well, where Link’s win condition comes from transmutating Ridley into something that has significantly less durability than him. A lot of hype moments with this, and a lot of sad moments as well. Ngl, got heartbroken when I saw Navi just fall apart like that. Other than that, I liked the voice for Link, he did a very good job. I know grunts and screams sound easy to pull off, because they are. But getting them right is a whole different story. Ridley’s voice was alright. Definitely not what I expect Ridley to sound like, but it isn’t awful either. My only real complaint is that sometimes his lines are difficult to understand. But it’s probably more of the fault of the sound design for his voice rather than the actor himself. Overall fantastic battle.
I'm stunned. This was an awesome fight... Wow... The story reminded me of something I'd see from a movie, not some random youtuber. Man, I can't wait to see more. Fight Spoilers ahead; (1st of all, I genuinely thought that Ridley might have won. Especially with the way it was going, and how utterly brutal the Radiation caused by phazon is said to be (Killing people in seconds is absolutely bonkers compared to irl radiation. Like even the Elephants Foot, the most radioactive thing on the planet would take a solid few minutes to kill someone.). Considering Link (as far as I know), has nothing to counter radiation, it was honestly a fair estimate that Ridley could have reasonably won. Also when Ridley put on the Giant's mask, I may or may not have felt a secondhand scream from link.
*Link has some serious cheese ngl* *Swiss, parmision, and every other cheese in existence* His chees is *ENDLESS*, and he has every type of cheese, and so many ways to use it. His melted cheese is pretty deadly too. And realistically even without headcanon *He could cheese the entire tournament* Kinda sad they didn't give him the 3 golden cheeses tho.
I love how even though link has some dummy OP abilities, Ridley's cunning is able to prevent that, which is genius (best examples are ridley stealing the giant mask and destroying FD). However, the fight would be over extremely fast if linked just downed a Chataue Romani, activated Magic Armor, and then used all of his OP abilities eg. Bombos medallion, Light/Silver/Ancient Arrows, Four Sword but that would be boring so im glad that didnt happen. Also link could have just used the triforce to wish Ridley out of existence but thats REALLY boring
This was just amazing how Link was characterized in the battle and everything else was amazing. This whole thing was just great. SPOILS The analysis was really informative about the two and was really immersive for me! I really enjoyed learning about Ridley and some new things about Link! And now onto the animation. Well for one I was kind of a bit neutral on the starting 30 seconds but then it really gets spicy. I won't get to into the details but sheesh you got weapons from spirit tracks So kudos to you on that one. I really liked Fi's dialogue with the Phazon a bit. This was also so frickin INTENSE like I was scared that Link might lose and the sheer intensity was stronger than Supernova's calc. This was the kinda intensity I'd feel for Death Battle and Archie vs Paper, Sonic vs Fox and this one have achieved and I really think that's a wonderful thing you've done. I also liked I also really liked how this was kinda like an Evil vs Good and good wins kinda deal and it was really building up like some Death battles do and make one kinda feel the main character but the feeling of intensity is still extremely intense. But this mu fits that kind of thing a lot better and you built the story of this battle so well for Link and for him win just feels like a triumph. Also I love that Link is forced to not use the Deity mask when Ridley crushes it, which just made it so more intense. I also enjoyed Ridley speaking and even stealing Link's stuff. And another thing I enjoyed was the fairies just dying. Was a pretty nice touch. Also Mipha giving Link a pep talk was pretty cool! And then that final blow was just really cool. Turning him into something else then slicing and dicing him like a cooking show and then burning him was just so satisfying as a Zelda fan and then he breathe down in exhaustion before walking away. But a complaint of mine is that the shield bomb thing barely had any impact. Like all of the things could have more impact and the shield thing especially was a bit slow too. But this was a really good fight and Link's best way of killing Ridley was transforming him into something else was REALLY cool! I give this episode a 7.7 out 10 and the best 3D episode.
I really like the use of phazon in the fight. That shite is nightmarish and not something to toss about without consequence. The death was pretty unique as well. Ridley learning he can use masks as well, which leads Link to combining items & equipment both on himself & Ridley so he can get an opening to weaken the purple space dragon pirate into a far more killable state. You could even say Ridley's careless experimentation with Link's items was an element of his downfall. Smart stuff that highlights Link's strategic ability.
I personally don't think Link would win, but that's because I wouldn't use composite forms in the first place. Link isn't the selfsame character, and you acknowledge this, but you used a composite form anyway. I would choose the most powerful incarnation of Link (or any character, regardless) for three reasons. First, it's canonical. Link isn't the same person in most games. While some characters only have one debut, at least it's still canonical. The second reason is because it's fair. Some characters benefit from appearing numerous games, while others don't. And if a character like Ness for example, is only in a single game, then it's safe to not bother with the battle. Third, it's economical. You mentioned how you don't want to make a video like that of Wikipedia, let alone have a longer-than-necessary video. I would have selected Link from Breath of the Wild and Ridley from maybe Metroid: Samus Returns or Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. You might say that you made Link composite because he has the spirit of the Hero, but that's more of qualitative attributes than quantitative. Link from The Wind Waker doesn't even have any connection to Link from Ocarina of Time, but forged his own path. But, I have no say in what you do with your video, and ultimately, it's up to you.
Using the Hyrule Warriors Link outfit was the best choice, because it keeps the green outfit whilst also adding in the Blue from the Champion's Tunic Now I do wonder who Luigi's enemy will be...
Battle of the night hunters. I'm putting my money on Luigi for that one considering how many nutty speed and durability feats Luigi has while Simon's arsenal is designed to take down creatures of darkness. And unless you count Weegee, Luigi ain't a monster. That is reserved for Mario when he throws the baby penguin off the cliff right by its mother in Mario 64.
@@jamievania7168 even with lowballing Luigi in mind, his arsenal is way to varied and capable of making use of the environment. He has innate access to lightning thanks to Superstar Saga, Gooigi, the Poltergust with all of its different functions, and has way more erratic and wild tactics to use. Belmont has his whip and wide assortment of sub-weapons, most of which are designed to slay monsters. The only ones that I can think of that aren't explicitly designed to kill creatures of the night are the knife, axe, and potentially spear, all of which can be sucked up or blown away. The whip could be an issue thanks to it's long reach, but it's potential damage will be dependent on it's form. Will it be the leather whip that it took in Leon Belmont's game, or will it be the spike ball tipped chain that the Belmonts wield in Smash? There are a lot of factors to take into account since both are going to be composite, but it will likely come down to Luigi's durability and unpredictability vs Belmont's range and prowess.
Then there's Tears of the Kingdom, where Link has five buddies (or tech clones, if they're busy) fighting by his side. And don't forget that he can hold as much food as it takes to heal from anything at any time, instantly, and that if he's hit at full health, he won't die immediately (and full health can be regained instantaneously) Also, since you included Warriors, Fi can fight on a similar level to Link himself, and there's fairy magic, and special attacks that have a guaranteed hit in an area without Link taking damage. In addition, he can send projectiles back at the shooter with his new rune-ish powers or even Autobuild a giant death laser machine. Also, there's a special weapon that kills any enemy in one hit, but lets Link die after one hit-BUT, with revival options, that's barely a drawback. In addition, Link can also slow time when aiming an arrow in the air, so he could pepper Ridley's organic parts with Ancient Arrows, which are a one hit kill. And he could continually heal with his unlimited food stash to survive radiation. In addition, electric arrows would mess with Ridley's tech, especially if he used Splashfruits to get him wet first. He can also attach an eyeball to an arrow so that it automatically aims for weak spots, so no bullet time needed. And I'm 90% sure that if you throw out everything I've listed, Link could still squish Ridley with the crazy stuff I DON'T know.
The fight narrative made it easy to guess Link would win, but that doesn't take away from how incredible this was. I love animations that really dig into his equipment and this one delivered in a lot of cool ways. Ridley got to be a total menace also and show off how clever he is by shutting down Link's best tools. Great episode all around, one of my favorites so far.
You know what the crazy thing is? The entire animation was finished with both alternate endings *before* the victor was decided. That basically means that if Ridley were more powerful, the animation would have been the same, but Link would have just *died* lol.
After being out for a year, this is still amazing and possible my favorite video on all of UA-cam. Out of both Bracket and Crossover Coliseum, less the 5 videos go below a 5/10. Keep up the greatness!
Wow I didn’t expect this to come out this fast but this still looks absolutely amazing you guys outdid yourself this time this is even better than joker vs snake
OMG! That was the most epic battle I've ever seen, I'm very satisfied for seeing this, this is even better than the first, Ridley wanted revenge from the first fight and yet in the end he failed, you and your group did magnificent with this one Ink, well done.
I gotta be honest, the way he looked around at his options. I immediately thought he was gonna do Fierce Deity, but i'm SO glad to have my expectations subverted. The way he was taken out was just WAY SMARTER!
I honestly completely love this one lmao, may be my favorite. That ending was so clever and this is probably the first Versus animation I've seen where one of the combatants just straight up steals the other's stuff, I love it lmao Ngl I was a little iffy about this series after watching Sonic vs. Fox (I watched the Minecraft Battle Royale before that and enjoyed it but I haven't read any of the novels other than the first like three or four chapters of The Island in like my tweens/early teens so I couldn't tell if it was accurate or not,) but I'm glad I decided to keep going, this series is overall very well-made and I'm glad Sonic vs. Fox is getting another go-around.
Wow this is really just Death Battle worthy! I really mean it this time! This whole battle was just an example of just how creative Link can get when you throw his entire arsenal together into one character
That was really good 3D animation and storytelling considering the source. I'm impressed. (Spoilers, but minimized to not spoil the victor) The only critique I might have is that using a technique that the victor actually can use to transform things might be more in line with Smash Bracket's ideology than inventing a (plausible) new use of a mechanic that has never been shown in any game.
I understand your point, but I think they could afford being innovative in the animation for this part, as they've stated after the fight that he had other options to transform Ridley. The Deku mask made the animation a better experience for us while not outright lying about Link's abilities at the same time.
@@tsukiche5939 And even then there's nothing really stopping Link from putting the mask on someone else as far as the lore goes. The masks hold the spirit of someone who died turning the person who wears it into them, thus there's really no reason why the different masks wouldn't work on someone other than link.
This episode is like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of The Wild. (SPOILERS) There have been good, or even excellent Smash Bracket episodes but this is simply on another level. If we're using all the Zelda titles as comparisons to Smash Bracket episodes, this makes perfect sense! Like Breath of the Wild, this was a lot more lore and story driven with some excellent ideas to boot. Link is facing near impossible odds (physically and emotionally), but he's always found a way to power through. Oh, and if you're wondering, Ocarina of Time is Wario VS Lucas. I still love that episode.
All of us know that the most tragic thing in this video is that Epona dies in the beginning. But the most disrespectful thing is that he plays an instrument in the middle of battle
Link is definitely the swiss army knife of video game characters and it's really cool to see that realized in this fight. What a creative KO and a great display of Link's arsenal and magic abilities.
This was the best one yet by a good bit. The animation was amazing and the info didn't really spoil the result. I thought Ridley was going to win so when link drank that potion it was pretty epic!
Ok, that ending was one of the best kills in a VS show ever. When I saw the Fierce Diety mask, I thought it was gonna be the obvious kill. Then the bomb shield combo made think it was gonna be a remake of the original kill. But a Deku Mask to Fire Rod? That's GENIUS! And as a Link fan(and typical shonen cliche enjoyer)...that moment of Link standing against all odds? With all hope lost, and only Mipha encouraging him? That almost brought a tear to my eye. One of the best VS episodes I've seen. And an easy 10/10 from me. I don't know how you and your keep topping yourself, but I hope you don't stop any time soon
Banger fight. I wouldn't say it's flawless, as it feels a bit one-sided, but the battle looks amazing and made great use of the fighters' intelligence and arsenals. I especially love the finishing blow and how it reflects the verdict. I actually thought it might be too early to do a remake of a Smash Bracket episode, but now I can safely say I'm glad you went for it.
Very cool video. here are my thoughts while watching: 1:45 Composed of, not comprised of. If you have to use "comprise", it would be "it comprises three pieces". I love that you included my favorite part from the sprite version, plus creative uses of some of the masks. I'm a little less fond of Ridley's monologuing, though that might be due to the line delivery or effects.
Ridley may have lost physically but he hurt Link mentally in so many ways. He killed off many of his friends in the fight and you can see that after Link defeated Ridley that he wasn't happy at all. Ridley's goal isn't fully to kill the opponent but to hurt their feelings as well.
I may be biased, but using all of one character's abilities from lots of games versus a character who has had generally similar movesets for so long was kind of upsetting, but if that was the way you guys took it, I'm ok with that. I felt that you guys would just say "master sword destroys all evil" and call it a day, so I expected it, but the ending was taken in a much better direction than I expected, though it didn't go how I wanted.
Thank you. You seem to be the only one who recognizes how incredibly strong link us. He wouldn't lose easily, if at all, to most people in the, say, smash ultimate list. Other death battle animators seem bent on nerfing him to make him lose
That’s definitely your best battle yet. I like how much of Link’s arsenal you have used and not only just some bombs or arrows. A moment of his ressurection is especially good. It's also nice too see Ridley been that much chatty, considering how poorly Smash games portrayted him. But haven’t you just skipped Link’s durability in his pre-battle analysis (unless I missed something)? I do get that you have to cut a lot of things, but isn’t it a very important part of battle? At the very least it is very interesting to see what kind of bombs he survived to get this level of durability.
One of my issues with this fight is that Ridley says "I've got to get me one of this" without seeing Link actually use the Sheikha Slate before picking it up. Other than that, it's a good time.
omg that was sooooooooooo awesome!!! And that ending was so creative and cool I loved it so much!!! oh wait I'm supposed to lie so as to not spoil people in the comments... uh... alright, lemme think... that was pretty so-so, not as good as the original by any means. probably coulda spent a couple more days being polished up.
Very cool fight, but I think it was a little stacked against Ridley though! Link got the complete arsenal and experience of his lengthy divine lineage, but Ridley just got his best armor and a can of phazon haha. Link's full arsenal is truly impressive, but if Ridley was allowed to use his full array of weapons and tools he would be untouchable. Just by virtue of having a spaceship he puts Link at an outrageous disadvantage. Even if Link found a way to avoid an orbital bombardment and made it to space, Ridley could and would just blow it up - he can survive in space and Link cannot. Ridley has no experience with or special defense against magic, though, and Link exploited really well in the fight! In a straight duel, this version of Link definitely comes out on top, but Ridley hasn't gotten where he is by fighting fair.
This fight was against Ridley. He should be able to take him into space really easily. And Link transmutation wouldn’t work against him since it doesn’t work on bosses.
Link is literally un-killable. His arsenal is so huge and he has some ridiculous broken items. I mean, in "A Link to the Past" he got the silver arrows that literally kill bosses in "one" shot... and you know what? I am very very very happy about it! Thanks for the amazing video and the cool animation (Link is left handed, btw). I agree with the outcome. Keep up the good work, Smash Bracket. I would love to see "Cloud VS Shulk" since both of them are from a JRPG and they both have big swords and blonde hair. OP guy vs OP guy, you know?
The only problem is the link in the video is a amalgamation of all versions of link. If this fight was lore accurate his arsenal would be limited to what version of link they are using. If one link stood a chance at defeating ridley it would be BOTW link. He has the most advanced and versatile moveset of all.
Thank you SmashBracket for this wonderful opportunity!!! What a great episode we achieved
!
I loved your animation, it was wonderful, great job!
You did a phenomenal job! Absolutely my favorite of the show so far.
Awesome job my dude!
bloody legend

11:17 "Ridley's what happens if you take the most horrifying, terrible, evil thing you could possibly think of and multiply it by six."

Why does this imply that the most horrifying thing I can imagine is 3 feet tall
Well, "the most horrifying thing you can imagine" is an 8-inch pink puffball...
@@alexpotts6520 Ok TRUE that’s a very good point
Considering said pink puffball might as well be an eldritch abomination that consumes souls like popcorn aka me when I haven't eaten all day. And I just love how Kirby made an ever so small cameo in this episode riding on the train Link summoned. That made me smile.
@@thecursed_1lordofcats738 I love link but Kirby will destroy link
Umm, actually since Ridley has volume, you'd need to divide his volume instead of his height. So you'd have to take the cubic root of 18³/6. The result would be almost 10 feet!
Sorry, please ignore the smart-ass within me...
That ending was the most creative use of abilities I've seen in a long time, and these quality analysis segments show character greater than a lot of other analysis segments out there and they just keep getting better, good stuff team, I look forward to the future.
Ridley's characterization here is pretty good, and I wouldn't have guessed he was this durable. He could really end up causing problems in his bracket
good thing Link took care of that problem lol
There is a losers bracket, and I’m fairly confident that Ridley will be a problem during his fights down there
Too bad Link was paired up with him lol
@@robertdelrosario8080 yeah it really was unfortunate that Ridley got paired with link.
@@goobplayzgames8358 Mewtwo aswell, would love to see Ridley vs Mewtwo
The song of time when Link debated to himself if he should or not use the Fierce Deity Mask was a great touch. The Hero of Time had to go through too much, and just putting on that mask causes him to feel the suffering of all of the people of Termina, in exchange of the power of that mysterious god. So yeah, it makes sense he would doubt about using it, leaving the masks as a last resort
True true.
I have a feeling that Fierce Deity will be Ridley Victory Ending, tbh
@@quilavalover8232 That would make a lot of sense!! and tbh would be cool.
Heads up from inside info from the team:
(minor spoilers for alt ending)
*it is gonna be BRUTAL*
@@thesilentshadow1256
Imma take a Guess.
This is why I love Link. His resourcefulness and wide array of tools in every situation that helps put him over the edge.
Some constructive criticism for the fight:
It was a step up from Joker vs Snake.
@@kestrel7493 I really hope they go back to the 2d animation. It just felt more action packed.
Considering that this is only they're second 3d animation and it's improved this much, they deserve alot a credit. The criticism is valid, especially the sound design, but I'm impressed with how good it is
In Ridley's defense, this is just another planet to conquer. And the only person he ever took to be a threat was samus, last time I checked
"He's a symbol of courage. The fact that no matter how bad things get, no matter how evil things are, that you're never truly alone."
That's it.
Thank you so much for the kind comment! I shared it with the team :)

Or an exhibition with another Smash fighter…

Story mode is a thing, and Ridley never stays dead
There is always looser's bracket. He could even win looser's bracket and get back into the fight
@@thesilentshadow1256
Loser’s bracket? Is that a thing on this show? I thought it was following a “you lose once, you go home” style of elimination.
@@rodrickgoldberg2324 Well it is single elimintation, but confirmed by the creators, for season 1, the loosers go into their own single elimination tournament, and the winner of that tournament gets to get into season 2 (respects to whoever that is lol)

You were so gooooood!!!
Kelsey!!! Ahh congrats! Honored to work with you again!
Couldn’t have said it better myself.
The fight was really creative and Ridley had great characterization, (spoilers below)
but he got bodied for 90% of the actual fight. He got a few good hits in, but it seemed like Link was the only one getting in any attacks outside of when they went to that new area. Still entertaining as hell to watch, though.
By the way, get well soon Ink.
Yeah, this was a much better fight than Snake vs Joker imo but it shares the same flaw of feeling one-sided.
Nah.
Most of links attacks did not even hurt Ridley.
@@heyguysxd but it felt like ridley did almost nothing the entire fight
I think Ridley was babbling too much against Link, while he really goes feral when he actively hunts. Then again, every single one of Ridley's attacks could be lethal if Link didn't evade them (which he did, and when he didn't he just healed it), so it was more of a choreography thing than the actual fight itself.
Still, very fun.
@@kaiju3867 nah the few hits got on Link did insane amounts of damage
Overall a 10/10
Amazing work, all of you who worked on this episode and looking forward to the next episode.

Damn, that ending. Link is truly never alone, he's a symbol of courage who has inspired me in my life. This video was amazing!
Man, I can't wait to see more. Fight Spoilers ahead;
(1st of all, I genuinely thought that Ridley might have won.
Also when Ridley put on the Giant's mask, I may or may not have felt a secondhand scream from link.
yoooooo! this came out sooner than I expected
I know, many Smash Bracket episodes seem to be coming out quicker then I expect them to.
Ridley going out of his way to kill Epona and Link's Loftwing was very in character. I hope we get to see an alternate ending where Ridley wins.

*still a masterpiece*
23:18 that combo into the mask was DEVIOUS, he didn’t need to do that to Ridley
that bit at the end where link uses that same bomb-shield strategy as in the original is just plain cool.
its my headcanon that in an alternate universe, Link cheeses his way through the entire tournament and just turns everyone into dekus to burn them.
*Link has some serious cheese ngl*
*Swiss, parmision, and every other cheese in existence*
His chees is *ENDLESS*, and he has every type of cheese, and so many ways to use it.
His melted cheese is pretty deadly too.
And realistically even without headcanon *He could cheese the entire tournament*
Kinda sad they didn't give him the 3 golden cheeses tho.
Spoiler alert
Now although Link did win, let's be real here, Ridley would probably be back for a rematch next week.

The analysis was really informative about the two and was really immersive for me!
Wow! Definitely took me by surprise there at the end. Wonderful animation and extremely creative guys! Can’t wait to see more
Glad you enjoyed it!
Fun Fact: That was a custom made Omega Ridley model!
In the next round of the bracket will they keep past injuries
That was a pretty good episode! I love how you treated composite Link in this
Using the Hyrule Warriors Link outfit was the best choice, because it keeps the green outfit whilst also adding in the Blue from the Champion's Tunic
Now I do wonder who Luigi's enemy will be...
Luigi's round 1 match is against Simon
Battle of the night hunters. I'm putting my money on Luigi for that one considering how many nutty speed and durability feats Luigi has while Simon's arsenal is designed to take down creatures of darkness. And unless you count Weegee, Luigi ain't a monster. That is reserved for Mario when he throws the baby penguin off the cliff right by its mother in Mario 64.
@@thecursed_1lordofcats738 depends on what they buy for both, Smash Bracket lowballs everyone so simon has a chance
Luigi wins because he is Green and is Da Plumba
Then there's Tears of the Kingdom, where Link has five buddies (or tech clones, if they're busy) fighting by his side.
And don't forget that he can hold as much food as it takes to heal from anything at any time, instantly, and that if he's hit at full health, he won't die immediately (and full health can be regained instantaneously)
Also, since you included Warriors, Fi can fight on a similar level to Link himself, and there's fairy magic, and special attacks that have a guaranteed hit in an area without Link taking damage.
This was such a creative way to finish the fight. Also the animation quality really improved. My sincere thanks to the Smash Bracket team.
omg this is really good 3d animation. especially for a channel without much backing. great job.

HOLY CRAP I WOULD NEVER THOUGHT TO USE THE DEKU MASK FOR A WIN GOOD JOB
I gotta be honest, the way he looked around at his options. I immediately thought he was gonna do Fierce Deity, but i'm SO glad to have my expectations subverted. The way he was taken out was just WAY SMARTER!
I honestly completely love this one lmao, may be my favorite. That ending was so clever and this is probably the first Versus animation I've seen where one of the combatants just straight up steals the other's stuff, I love it lmao
Ngl I was a little iffy about this series after watching Sonic vs.
Thank you so much!
That was really good 3D animation and storytelling considering the source. I'm impressed.
(Spoilers, but minimized to not spoil the victor)
The only critique I might have is that using a technique that the victor actually can use to transform things might be more in line with Smash Bracket's ideology than inventing a (plausible) new use of a mechanic that has never been shown in any game.
Also they did clarify there were two other transformation methods
Ridley killed the horse and the Loftwing. This cannot be forgiven.
This episode is like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of The Wild. (SPOILERS)
There have been good, or even excellent Smash Bracket episodes but this is simply on another level.
Accurate
I love this analogy.
How can I give you money?
Good fight but considering Ridley's speed feats (keeping up/surpassing Samus's ship) I think Link would've taken more damage
This animation. Was beautiful great work
Just came back to this episode, and I can safely say that this is one of the best episodes I’ve seen from any vs channel
I would never have expected that ending. Such a smart way for link to do it, and a perfect Zelda boss fight ending
Just found this series, hope it really goes places. And, I hope we get to see Shulk vs Palutena... for uh, lore reasons.
Link can summon trains?
Oh geeze. Link has gotten training from Yukari
YOOOOOOOO!!!!!! THIS FIGHT WAS SOOOOO EPIC!!!!!! GREAT JOB, SMASH BRACKET! You really outdone yourselves! :D
indeed they have
Very cool video. here are my thoughts while watching:
1:45 Composed of, not comprised of.
This is such a crazy step up from joker vs snake it’s crazy, easily in my top 3
I may be biased, but using all of one character's abilities from lots of games versus a character who has had generally similar movesets for so long was kind of upsetting, but if that was the way you guys took it, I'm ok with that. I felt that you guys would just say "master sword destroys all evil" and call it a day, so I expected it, but the ending was taken in a much better direction than I expected, though it didn't go how I wanted.
@2fast 4u yeah, I was mainly upset with masks + master sword + champion abilities. Absolutely cracked.
Top ten remakes for sure.
Great job, I mean it.
That’s one of if not the best UA-cam animation I’ve ever seen
Top notch guys, this one was great. Excellent animation and fight scripting
Thank you. You seem to be the only one who recognizes how incredibly strong link us. He wouldn't lose easily, if at all, to most people in the, say, smash ultimate list. Other death battle animators seem bent on nerfing him to make him lose
I love the reference to season 0 with the bomb shield
that was great!! and nice transistion to 3D
Now make a 3rd one where totk Link just trolls Ridley with autobuild, recall, fuse, and masterhand
This really goes to show how much u guys have improved
Utterly phenomenal. Well done.
I actually thought this would come out on June this is just really shocking
Mega gaming
This was an amazing fight that "links" the worlds together that I would never want to "rid" myself of.
I have no idea whether to applaud your puns or boo them
So I'm gonna do both
@@gachalifetoonstudios1377 thanks for the applaud, i get the boo though
How? You got no poltergust
@@gachalifetoonstudios1377 didn't know I'd get outjoked here, but good job sir/madame. Caught me by surprise and got a chuckle out of me

The student has become the master
Oh that was SUCHHHH a clever way to end the battle!! I loved that, it was awesome!
Phenomenal Fight! The animation looked official and I mean that, Glad the hero of hyrule took the victory as he is my Nintendo hero
Dude is a cool more lore accurate death battle you guys rock
I certainly didn't anticipate this ending, great job !
How dare you post this on Tuesday night. Don't you know that's the scariest night of all?! That's when the Hash Slinging Slasher comes out!
lmao but on monday it would've enraged me more. Garfield would have been disapointed.
Damn, even if the pacing was a bit slow at times this was so creative I don't care. Great stuff 👏
I LOVE that you didn't just end this with fierce deity, made his final kill so unique!
Who voiced Ridley? He did a great job at it.
I wonder how a non-composite version of Link would fare against Ridley?
Depends on which Link is focused on
@@Neon40867 Majora's Mask's Link AKA the Hero of Time could easily defeat Ridley if he had the Fierce Deity's Mask.
@@theterribleclaw4285 true, though Link wouldn't even need it
omg that was sooooooooooo awesome!!!
Tbh Most of the smash roster would get evaporated from existence by Links ancient arrows in BOTW
The only problem is the link in the video is a amalgamation of all versions of link. If this fight was lore accurate his arsenal would be limited to what version of link they are using. If one link stood a chance at defeating ridley it would be BOTW link. He has the most advanced and versatile moveset of all.
@@Gigi4uno he doesn’t, oot/Mm link would beat Ridley
Dude that kill was so creative and awesome
