This is Three Dog Night all grown up. And I am a fan all grown up. I must have entered the fandom at about 15. The first album I heard was "Captured Live at the Forum." Within a few years, I was 3 rows back from the stage watching them perform in Clemson SC. (Yes, THAT Clemson! Go Tigers!) In time I was to hold telephone conversations with Joe Schermie, TDN's original bass player, speak in person to Mike Allsup, get a letter from Cory and get backstage in Greenville SC. But now, Jimmy, Joe, and Cory have passed, and TDN is very different. This concert with the Tennessee Symphony is one of THE best I have ever seen. Like I said, all grown up. And here I am at 64, still a fan and missing those who have gone on. Enjoy this concert. It is definitely TDN at its best.
There will never, ever be, another group that will compare to THREE DOG NIGHT, in any of its forms! This is the group that defines classic secular rock music! There was always such color in in anything they produced. That is simply my opinion. There, of course, will never be another like them. I have every one of their vinyl LP's produced, and I had the honor of seeing them perform in the early 80's. It is unfortunate Chuck was never allowed back, but he didn't define the group. This was a group of passionate musicians that presented fantastic music for people to enjoy. To me, the music passed off as music today is sorely lacking. No real instruments, no storytelling lyrics, and no heart. I would encourage young people today to get back to basics. Put away the computers from music. Create the music from traditional instruments and tell stories from the heart and soul. Wonderful performance THREE DOG NIGHT. Thank you for your contribution to the music of my era.
Amen. That is why not much talent this day! In our day there weren’t IPhones or computers to sidetrack you. Their creative juices flowed! Kids these days I’m worried about. But I hope the kids will appreciate this music and continue to listen and pass in.. good music never dies!
I attended many a concert back in day in the 60s and 70s. All of us loading into a car.. black white! Whoever wanted to catch a ride to a concert! Great music great times great friends!
I was very fortunate and saw Three Dog Night back in 1971 their first live concert and tour, in Bloomington, Minnesota and they were set up as a theater in the round. They were excellent. Excellent! And they still are to this day. And you're right, they carry such happy, warm music. What happened to it? We need it back!!
One great band I didn't get to see, man do I miss the 70's ! The best years of America are behind us - but I can still go there again when I see and listen to this stuff. Three Dog Night Still Rock it in this concert !
My all time favorite band. I've seen them live a dozen times....always a joy!! So sad watching this today knowing that Cory and Jimmy have passed. Michael is probably the happiest man on earth. Always smiling, and having so much fun with the guys. Danny....keep singing....keep Three Dog Night music alive. Nothing can compare.
Last time I seen these guys fortunately,.was 2000 yr. in Casino Rama where I was employed,.Enjoyed it as always,.Was devastated to hear of Corey's passing, though,.he was my fave big time,.
I just saw TDN last weekend and wanted to give praise to Danny and Mike for keeping the music of our generation going. I saw several younger citizens enjoying the music as much as I do. Their music will continue for years and years. It was a good performance, but not the same as when the trio were together. Bless you Danny and Mike! Just wish I could have met y'all!!!!
My wife and I saw them in Branson Mo I think it was in 2007. What a great show. The loss of Cory is so sad. He is truly missed. I grew up listening to this group in the 60s-70s. Love this music. Most music today is crap.
All good things must come to an end!!!!! Even with Chuck!!! These guys are amazing, they have been playing their hearts out sense I was a very small child!!!! ... I'm 58 years old or Long before I have been alive!!! They are definitely an icon..... groups like this are a dying breed, there's not many more groups like this left in the world today!!!! We should injoy them while they are still here because when they gone!!! ... there will never be anyone else to feel there shoes......god bless these great performers....

went to spend a month in Harrisberg PA back in the 70s when i was like 10 yrs old my 18 yr old cuz had tickets for them and Foghat my uncle wouldnt let my cousin go unless he took me so their i was 10 yrs old and listening to 3 dog night 45 years later i am still a big fan
Still impressive and incredible vocals! Tight band and Excellent orchestration accompaniment too... All consummate professionals! And such a "unique" group sound!!!
May 14 2021- I am in my 60's. I didn't know this concert existed! I use to play all kinds of my music to my chidren when they were babies to teens- classical, jazz, blues, pop, rock, southern rock, motown, psychedelic rock, church music, modern christian, and more...and of course Three Dog Night! Awesome.
On September 11th, 2003, Tulare California, this great band invited my son Justin (3 years old) up on stage to sing the song "LIAR" with them as he strumed his little guitar. After the concert, the band all signed the guitar and gave him the concert song list. Justin was featured on the band's website. My family will always be grateful and they will always have a special place in my family's heart! Joy to you & me!
What an honor! What great memories! They are so kind. And I’m sure a wonderful memory for your son. Wow! These guys are so amazing. Gone too soon Corey and Jimmy and I believe Michael now.. time goes by too fast! It makes me tear up!
Just take a look and a listen to the talent up on that stage. Put guitars in the right hands and this is what you get....No fireworks, no fancy lights, just plain old great music. I sure miss those days. .
Yes Sir it WAS an awesome era to grow up in..the 60's and 70's....SO THANKFUL...Even more thankful that I can share the greatest era of music with my kids and other youth.
My wife is a musical bigot. She was born with hypersensitive hearing and perfect pitch. She doesn't think (as Irving berlin thought) that music died around 1963. I played this for her showing that TDN actually wrote harmony and could be orchestrated. She's now a fan.
@@notcosmiclobsternoooo118 Fantastic 22 year old enjoying this band. Very cool!!! I would have liked to meet a member of the band and hear the group's stories.
BassByTheBay - Cory admitted to me that he was just 1/3 of the voices. Danny and Chuck rounded out the sound. “Our voices were so well tuned and tied together so tight it was so hard to say who’s voice stood out. That’s what made us who we are.”
One thing I always appreciated about Three Dog Night was that back in the day so many artists released hits and they all sounded the same. Danny and Corey didn't do that. All the hits were different. That says a lot about real talent. Love these guys.
Right? No two of their songs ever sounded much alike, but you always knew it was a Three Dog tune, within thirty seconds of first hearing it on your local AM station back then. And it was like clockwork that Three Dog churned these hits out! Good times - DAMN good times.
Well in all fairness they didn't write any of their hit songs. Great singers but they didn't write or compose any of their hit songs!!! So they had wide variety of songs to sing because different artists wrote their hit songs.
No Band is their equal ! The fact is they had TRUE talent when they were young just proves to be an epic band in their later years. I had 2 older brothers that exposed me to this band and it never left me. They ARE the masters of their era and this one. I shed a few tears for my dead brother that turned me on to 3 Dog Night, and never got to see them reach this point in History.
Me too, my two older brothers were about 16 & 14 in their heyday & I was 9/10. Those times musically & other ways will never be repeated in our lifetime.
Thanks to UA-cam I discovered the much overlooked music of Cory wells and Danny Hutton 2 of the best front men ever. Danny May have the most powerful voice I’ve ever heard and Cory Wells was the original soul badass
WOW I JUST HAVE TO SAY , THIS WAS OUT THE PARK WONDERFUL MY MY MY GREAT LOVED IT THANK YOU SO MUCH .... THREE DOG NIGHT AND ORCHESTRA . FANTASTIC .. A WONDERFUL MARRIAGE MAN YEAH ....!!!!!!
Omg how incredibly lucky! I just ordered this in DVD. I can’t imagine how great that would be! I saw them live back in the 70s but this with the orchestra is just incredible!
As a musician...with a group , there's moments that the band is really firing ...all cylinders....above and beyond the usual . This version , it is very evident by the body language, the facial expressions....amusement , bewildered...the passion exploding Corey...going off!! What a moment, a treat, a thrill. 💖
I mean no disrespect to Cory, but he had one of the sexiest voices in music history. His voice got richer, deeper & even better, the older he got. What a shame that he left us far too soon.
One of my favorite bands growing up in the 70s. Saw them in concert while Chuck was still there. They had such a cool look with their gorgeous long hair and astonishing voices. Three of the greatest rock singers ever. RIP Cory.
When it comes to Cory Wells and "Try a little Tenderness", who can forget 1972, New Years Rockin' Eve with Three Dog Night? They kept blowing out microphones and Cory was all over the stage going from microphone to microphone trying to find one that worked! A Classic performance.
I’ve started watching that one but haven’t finished it because I keep finding these more recent ones! Now I was 10 when that New Year’s Rockin’ Eve came on so I have a lot of catching up to do!!
Classic music? To me its not just a tune on the radio 30, 40 or year's ago. It is what reaches inside me. From the beginning of the tune it gets down in my soul and gets me to move. Here we have a mixture of old rock, bit of blues, a little country and pure unforgettable experience in a world of one of the best bands EVER!
i personally have seen Three Dog Night over 15 times since 1975. In 1992 I had the chance to meet Michael, Danny and Cory. What a thrill it was to meet my favorite rockers from my teenage years and on! I must say they were fun to visit with and ask questions. I asked Cory why they didn't do "Tenderness". Michael was friendly and acknowledged I had caught his eye during one of his guitar solos. They were all friendly and showed they truly Love their fans! What a sad day it was for me to read in the Tampa newspaper that Cory had suddenly passed away. I still have the article. I hope one day i will be able to sing "Shambala" with him in Heaven. My favorite. Cory, I will miss you dearly...
This is one of the purest rock bands of the time and we loved them all. God bless Cory Wells and his family. Cory recently passed and will never be forgotten by his fans. Great band and great show.
Yes, TDN won't be the same without Cory. Kind of like Chicago without Cetera, although obviously much more tragic with Cory's passing.. TDN is coming to my area in a few months, but I think I'll pass with only Danny Hutton remaining.
this music was all the rage back in my h.s. days 1968 and on for the next decade--now i hear it again, and it makes me tear up with the sweet nostalgia and awesome memories---i'm proud to be from that era when music was great
Thank you to Cory, Danny, and the rest of the band for bringing back so many great memories. Cory, you will be missed. My heart goes out to your family and friends.
never heard of this awesome band, until we learnt one of their songs, 'mamma told me not to come' Just watching this video, made me realise what talented Vocalist they were and still are, so Soulful. Im definitely A Fan!!
its a shame that egos cant get over the best singer of the group chuck negron, i know he had some drug issues but who didnt back in the glory days of R&R
Thank you so much for sharing this concert! Cory's passing is simply heartbreaking. I adored seeing him perform - he could barely contain himself at times because the music was bursting to come out of him. Besides talent, he was a rare performer who actually 'got it' ... Kept himself free of drugs & addictions, and put his family first. I was so touched by his daughter saying he was the perfect blueprint of a father & grandfather: High praise indeed. Godspeed Cory, and thanks for the soundtrack that is engrained in the memories of my life.
How do you find Cory s daughter? I miss Cory! His soul bleeds of talent! I would love to tell her how much I loved her dad and appreciate his talent and influence !
6:00 am and I just listened to this entire concert. I was so young when all of these songs were popular but I was so fortunate because I was the youngest of five siblings and my older brothers and sisters had FABULOUS taste in music. The era of 8-Tracks and albums. They just don’t make music like this anymore. I’m so glad that I got to experience the goodness back in the day!!!
Wow! I too am the youngest of 5 kids, my older brothers shaped my musical tastes & the music of that time was some of the best we’ll ever have. I feel blessed to have grown up during that time & have had the chance to see these fine fellows sharing their gifts with the world.
Seriously? The audience was sitting during "Eli's Coming?" I've thought about this a great deal and think that Three Dog Night WAS all three guys. Yeah, if would be nice if Danny and Chuck could get together but the beauty that was TDN was the three soulful vocalists. I've seen Chuck solo and he's great. But, for my money, the group was the three of them trading their talents on different songs.
I guess at one time Chuck had the opportunity to join the group again. Chuck said that it was when the other two were fighting, and didn't speak very friendly about each other. That was when Chuck said he wanted nothing to do with it. I wish he would have done shows like this with the band.
I remember the first time I saw Three Dog Night live, I was blown away, albeit these are some of the finest musicians I've seem them play with, I was fortunate enough to see them with the original lineup, Jimmy Greenspoon, Joe Schermie, Mike Allsup, Floyd Sneed, Danny Hutton, Cory Wells and Chuck Negron, while bands like Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and others were taking us to the moon and back Three Dog Night a more laid back band became bigger than life earning twelve gold albums, filled stadiums and sold millions and millions of records
Killer-- saw them in 1969 at brewer field house, columbia missouri when i was 14 with nanci pumphrey and jon purcell who was was with valerie gabis-- first big concert---- still luv them
Although I enjoyed this band at all phases of their development, this was probably the finest performance of Three Dog Night's career. The recent loss of the iconic Cory Wells is tragic and he will be terribly missed. Thanks to Danny Hutton, Cory Wells and the Tennessee Symphony Orchestra for this terrific and entertaining performance.
I remembered I had the DVD 2 days before he died I had to upload it... It's weird how you find old things you love and then you see something like that happen i was in shock.
One of the greatest bands to ever hit the stage i grew up listening to this band got their music on vinyl and CD brings back a lot of memories when i met my sweetheart and the love of my life and still the love of my life
Oh my gosh I love this band so much, I love Cory wells he's one of a kind, I love watching him sing and am so sad he passed away. Danny Hutton is a nother singer that is out of this world!! His voice is incredible watching the two of them makes my heart smile the biggest 😁 ever

What a shame that he left us far too soon.
this is what we just to call music... just breathtaking.... fantastic!
One of my favorite bands growing up in the 70s. Saw them in concert while Chuck was still there. They had such a cool look with their gorgeous long hair and astonishing voices. Three of the greatest rock singers ever. RIP Cory.
Who remember New Years Rockin' Eve on the Queen Mary (1973) with these guys?
l had never seen Three Dog Night in concert before 2015 and Michael Allsops playing blew me away. Absolutely incredible sounds.
And he’s always smiling!
Corey was my fave.. What a voice!! RIP...
AWESOME then and NOW...Love me some Corey..RIP!!!
Jimmy passed before Cory
Michael always smiling while playing guitar! They seem like they would be fun to hangout with.
Every so often UA-cam gives us something to make us pause and give reason for a heart of gratiitude. This is that moment.
Go ahead and see the show. I did just a month ago and it was really good.
I seen this show many years ago my friend.
Big mistake, Show your support for Cory. This is how Cory wanted it after he was gone. Let's give them a fighting chance. Amen
Corey Wells passed on just prior to TDN coming to play at the Central Washington State Fair. I was looking forward to seeing them again.
this music was all the rage back in my h.s. days 1968 and on for the next decade--now i hear it again, and it makes me tear up with the sweet nostalgia and awesome memories---i'm proud to be from that era when music was great
Me too! Tears when I hear this music! The memories flow!
Thank you to Cory, Danny, and the rest of the band for bringing back so many great memories. Cory, you will be missed. My heart goes out to your family and friends.
We saw them at the Jackson Tennessee Symphony and it was a great show.
never heard of this awesome band, until we learnt one of their songs, 'mamma told me not to come' Just watching this video, made me realise what talented Vocalist they were and still are, so Soulful. Im definitely A Fan!!
GOD---What amazing performances by all.
From a mad keen 76yo Aussie fan.
I listen to these originals every night at work. Great band. Even after so many years, they kept singing so inspiringly.
Saw them at the Mid-South Fair in concert in 1989 when I was 16. Still the best concert I've been to to date.
Quite possibly the finest performance that comprised most of the original members of this super group of the early 70s. Thank you for sharing
That note that Danny hit at the end of 'Easy to be Hard' was over the top!
ACTUALLY, THANK GOD FOR "THREE DOG NIGHT"!!!
These guys look they enjoy their art...They sound GREAT!
its a shame that egos cant get over the best singer of the group chuck negron, i know he had some drug issues but who didnt back in the glory days of R&R
WORD! Aahhh. Great memories
So true and he dies first. Bless.
What? That is bad.
How do you find Cory s daughter? I miss Cory! His soul bleeds of talent! I would love to tell her how much I loved her dad and appreciate his talent and influence !
Broke my heart. Broke it in two!
His voice made angels smile in Heaven. No doubt.
I Have this DVD, absolutely a must!!!!!
I feel blessed to have grown up during that time & have had the chance to see these fine fellows sharing their gifts with the world.
this video makes Cory seem so alive like he never left us, saw them in concert 1970 and loved all their music, my heart is with you all
While Chuck Negron is missing, this concert, with lineup is simply great. I'm glad it was allowed to be seen here. R.I.P. Cory Wells.
Amazing ❤
Well said it is not three dog without all originals.
I guess at one time Chuck had the opportunity to join the group again. Chuck said that it was when the other two were fighting, and didn't speak very friendly about each other. That was when Chuck said he wanted nothing to do with it. I wish he would have done shows like this with the band.
I agree.. chucks band isn’t that great.. I like with Danny and Corey and the other guy dies a great job but the 3 of them is awesome!
i love this band. thank u 4 giving your music 2 us all. Lots of good memories back in the day with these tunes
Thankyou Cory Wells you touched my heart and soul at Taupo New Zealand when TDN preformed there in the summer 2015.
TDN was my very first concert - Jan 1968. They were amazing then and even more so now.
+Musicaltechie AMEN to that! Fantastic concert!
Totally agree! I've listened to this video off & on for months now.
RIP Cory Wells. Sad.
Amen, Totally agree. The filming and sound is A plus! This will be around for ever
Simply AMAZING! They sound the same!
Simply...... Fantastic!!!!!! Thanks guys
