- Johnny Morris's Original Springfield Bass Pro Shops Full Tour is a must watch Video! Join Alice & Tommy T as they tour the Grandaddy of sporting stores just north of Branson Missouri in Springfield MA! Bass Pro Shops was founded by John L. Morris in 1971 in Springfield, Missouri. Its first retail outlet opened in 1972 and Johnny was just getting started! In September 2017, Bass Pro Shops paid $5.5 billion to acquire Cabela's. Bass Pro Shops is now an American privately held retailer of hunting, fishing, camping and other related outdoor recreation merchandise. With headquarters in Springfield, Missouri, Bass Pro Shops employs a workforce of about 40,000. Some people still call it Pro Bass shops vs Bass Pro Shop. But it is Bass Pro Shops! Check out the Grandaddy of all Outdoor Stores!
In addition to the store, Morris opened the Wonders of Wildlife in Springfield, Missouri, which recreates a multitude of ecosystems and is considered the largest wildlife attraction in the world.
Despite being considered the largest sporting store in the world, the largest store currently is the Pyramid in Memphis, Tennessee is slightly larger at this time. However, the Springfield was the first, and at almost 500,000 sq/ft, has big plans to get the title back as the largest.
Bass Pro Shops also owns White River Marine Group which manufactures and distributes boats under the brand names Ranger, Nitro, Triton, Tahoe, Tracker, Sun Tracker, Regency, Mako, and Ascend.
The amazing part of the Springfield Bass Pro Shops stores are the great museums highlighted in the video!
The museums include
The NRA National Sporting Arms Museum opened in the flagship store in Springfield, Missouri on August 2, 2013. It features sporting artifacts, including some historical firearms from the NRA Museum Collection. The museum will host firearms and artwork from the Remington Arms Company factory collection, including engraved Colt revolvers of the American frontier and firearms of U.S. Presidents.
