This is a crazy story, as I have been to the liquor store bass shop in Missouri before he build Bass Pro Shops in Sprinfield, MO. I am from Tulsa and was very good friends with Don Butler and his two sons, who I went to high school with, who owned Oki Bug in Tulsa and got his merchandise from! Don won the second Bass Masters tournament held in 1972. Don also gave Ray Scott a check for $10,000 around 1968-69 to start BASS and then Bassmaster’s tournaments started in 1971. Johnny Morris is one of the most caring individuals in the world.
Listening to Kelly and Dale and how they interact with each other and their guests draws me in and actually warms my heart with their stories. Imagine sitting around a roaring bonfire with these two and guests all sitting in comfy chairs from Bass pro shops and a few bottles of High Rock. Tip of the hat to Dirty Mo media for all that you bring to us!
Springfield's Bass Pro is the BEST! He also bought the old Dog Patch amusement park property where I live now in Arkansas and I'm excited to see what he does with it.
Around 30 years ago I went to Dog Patch but it was closed. So disappointed.
What an awesome man for the sport! I don't know the name of any other companies boss that sponsors race cars but we know Mr. Morris is!
JM signed my MTJ78 license plate the last race Furniture Row Motorsports ran. Thanked me for wearing my Bass Pro Shops/78 car gear
Great episode! Having 'business minded Kelley' was super for this interview!
Thanks and take care with your health, Jr.
She asked a really great question at 10:35
Sounds like Bass Pro Shops had a really cool origin story. Good old Johnny boy.
Awesome stuff!
Thanks Dale jr and Kelly for having Mr, Bass Pro shop on the podcast, A true gentleman for sure
A lot of people would disagree. All the people he's done dirty.
Johnny is a good guy and he is Kool. This is a good video
Love adding Kelly to fill in on the show and hope she can be there more often.
Crap. Fill in?
I love Kelly on the other mic. She is seasoned, wise and very genuine. First class: great intelligence and nothing to prove, she just acts like she belongs there. And she does.
I bought a down filled jacket for $40.00 from the first catalog. It was brown. I was climbing a telephone pole in that jacket and cut out. Feathers everywhere. Funny memory. Love this interview.
That was great. Never knew that Bass Pro started in Springfield MO
The bass pro headquarters in Springfield is incredible. They have the best aquarium and wildlife museum in the United States. It's worth the trip.
Mr Morris is the kind of business man that we need more of, family man for sure and not a bit of greed in his soul… thank you sir for all your kindness
B.S. treats his workers in the DC’s like crap. Turnover is greater than 50%.
He's a master salesman! Don't believe anything he says. His god is the dollar!
@@dougnelson8121 Where is there not turnover? Sure, there are bad places to work, but my experience has been that half of employees don't want to work and find excuses not to. Like quitting and blaming their boss for it. I can't tell you how many times over the years that I have told complaining employees to start their own company if they feel they can do better. None of them have.
You've clearly never worked for him.
No, but I got sacked because of him. He's caused a lot of people a lot of anguish. I worked with people that he stepped on. They knew of his debauchery. Maybe the wolf has changed his clothes?
He really is the master salesman. @@ohheyitsthatguy07
Bass Pro ruined Cabela’s when they bought them. Dropped quality and selection on so many products!!
I just watched two students in a Lesson from The Master . God Bless You Johnny Morris !
He's a master salesman. He'll tell you anything you want to hear.
Meet Mr. Morris in victory lane at Bristol when Busher won. He was so down to earth and approachable. He is a great guy and loves the sport so much.
Only because he makes money from it.
More of this type of visits please!!!!!!
Master salesman! Every trick in the book.
Johnny's aquarium and wildlife museum in Springfield Missouri is incredible. Everyone should experience it. It's the best Aquarium in the United States.
worst thing to happen to cabelas is ass pro buying them. not a fan of bass pro
One of the biggest businesses in the whole world, started in a liquor store. Awesome guest and Interview Jr, Kelly
I’ve been ordering off that catalog since probably 1982. Great interview! Love it.
That's right. A liquor store named brown derby. Springfield mo.
It’s so funny until you know your 59 minutes away from the original bass pro shop
Great interview! I wonder where Mike is?
Amazing man. Started from nothing.
More volume plz
Springfield mo signing in and also a BPS employee at 1.time
Great interview! And....Dale's hoodie 💚
I remember, we stopped by the Springfield Outdoor World shop on our way back home from a vacation to Branson in probably the mid-90s. My parents had mentioned that one of the attractions was that they had "the largest bass in captivity" in their aquariums. Well, as we're all getting out of the car in the parking lot there, my dad jokingly says "ha ha, wouldn't it be funny if just our luck, we get up there and the largest bass in captivity has died yesterday".
Well, sure enough, we get up to the front doors, and there's a sign apologizing that the largest bass (I think maybe it had a name?) had died like just a couple weeks before. It was a little sad, but it *was* darkly funny in a way...
This is so cool being from Springfield and a huge racing fan. I drive down Campbell nearly every day and see that building.
I live in Marshfield, MO. The Bass Pro in Springfield is a true attraction
I remember it well.
It always on our list when we are on a road trip to stop at a Bass Pro Shop, we don’t have any in Quebec, the closet is in Toronto 😅
Goodness Dale is SO much louder than anyone else. Those mix levels geez
TIPS ON VERY SUCCESSFUL BUSINESSMAN !!!!!!!!
Just tell them what they want to hear, whether it's true or not.
I hate when YT doesnt put the Download in my feed even though i watch it at least once a week
From the show me state...we good people for the most part, just like this amazing fella
You need to come up to Bass Pro in Springfield MO
I remember browsing those catalogs when I was a youngster.
I live exactly a mile from Bass pro. . Love this
I was fishing Bass in the early 70s when Johnny was, fine fella. Wish I could have been that successful
If you had his talent for telling you what you want to hear you'd be that successful. Don't believe a word he says. I'm surprised he doesn't own hollywood.
I try to stop in Macon ga when I go south to visit family
Liquor store to BassPro Empire - Wow!
Hmmm, didn't miss Mike. Kelly, yes..!!! Just kidding.. lol
