Thats mostly IL-2 Sturmovik footage, only some footage was from war thunder.

You forgot another thing wrong with german aircraft. The 20mm cannons jam way too often. I mean, if you fire them for a minute straight they just overheat and jam. Unlike Hispanos...

To be fair, one of the most, if not the most, unsafe to fly fighters ever was German. The Me-163 Komet was an absolute death trap.

Uhm, actually, the me 163 was not a fighter, it was an interceptor 🤓🤓
@@Triplane1234 Inteceptors are generally considered a specific type of fighter, but yes, the me 163's primary role was as an inteceptor. It is worth noting that the aircraft was fast and maneuverable, and would have been perfectly capable of intercepting and shooting down allied fighters. It's just that by this time in the war, the Germans had other priorities.

@@Triplane1234 You're thinking more of what in modern doctrine are called air superiority fighters, that is, fighters designed to be able to destroy enemy fighters so that your other aircraft can fly in unopposed (in the air at least, but then of course, during WWII surface to air defense was a good deal less capable than modern missile systems). But "fighter" is also just a generic term for types of aircraft that are designed to shoot down other aircraft, so interceptors are fighters.
Now as for interceptors, this category didn't really become popular until the 1950s and 1960s, where the idea of shooting down bombers carrying nuclear weapons before then could drop their bombs was very important. Later on, ICBMs were developed, which were, for all practical purposes, unstoppable after they had left the ground, but before 1965 or so, the threat was strategic bombers, flying at ever higher altitudes and speeds. Thus, the ability to take off and climb to 60,000 feet or so in the narrow window between detection and the bombers passing on out of range was everything. And yes, the Me-163 had the traits of an interceptor, and yes, the Germans were thinking a bit more about air defense due to the constant Allied bombing, but I'd still argue that the Me-163 as a dedicated interceptor was a very future looking concept. Other aircraft of the time really had to already be up in the air on patrol to have a chance of reaching medium to high altitude bombers in time to do anything about them, especially given that early warning radar was in its infancy.

Nah, Stukas were crap alright.
Excellent for precise, accurate bombing but only if there's no enemy planes around.
If Hurricanes are present, Stukas will still dive down but never get up again.

Stukas were so crap that the Luftwaffe never used them again during the Battle of Britain. Even with your precious BF-109s around.
Hurricanes could defend themselves if encountering a few BF-109s and they used their superior maneuverability.
During the Invasion of Holland, older Fokker D.21 fighters with fixed landing gear, outturned the Messerschmitts all the time.
BF-109s had superior speed so they could disengage at will and they usually were forced to because they could only fly for 15-20 minutes over Britain, much less when dog fighting.
@@AudieHolland where did you get that from? Bf-109s were able to compete even with Spitfires and pretty much every other aircraft the British had. And only being able to fight for a short time because you have to travel over the English channel and back is no surprise. No fighter could do that at that time, not even your beloved Hurricane. And that the D.XXI had a lower turn rate is also no real argument for anything since it is generally slower. Slower speed=lower turn rate. Stukas didn't get used druing the battle of Britain because thy are _ground_ attack aircraft, who are designed to destroy _ground_ targets which weren't really a thing at the battle of Britain.
British planes were good, but you try to over-glorify them.
The way you named the stuka was very nice because once anyone heard those sirens they would immediately know if they didn't run they would end up like the men who took part in a failed banzai charge

At 5:50, you actually do not need to stand up to reload it. If you look carefully, it's actually on a rail which allows the gun to be pulled back, so you can reload it from a sitting position.

3:25 well they develop a suspension in the engine so when there is a propeler infront of the machinegun the machinegun dont shoot but when there is no machinegun in front it fires and since the propeler moves very fast it feels like your shooting thru the propeler although it did sacrifise the rate of fire

problem 2: the armament, while in terms of WHAT guns is more reasonable than the germans, the number of guns is completely absurd. Why, look no further than the B-17G, which is armed with THIRTEEN Machine Guns! Why on _earth_ would ANY plane need that many guns, much less a _bomber_ ?

Edit:he escaped death in two situations, the first one was when he was transferred to a new bomber crew, (an another Wellington mind) his old one crashed and all his old crew died sadly. The second one was when he was visiting one member of the bomber crew in South Africa, (because that was where he lived at the time) a week after he left, the friends farm workers attacked and killed him
