At first I was surprised not a lot of people cheered for the intro of the song but then I realized this is a year before they released The Bends. Also "holy cow" and "purest hell" are switched in this version
I've always thought Radiohead's sheer jump in songwriting & musicianship from 1993 to 1994 was almost unbelievable. We're talking some Robert Johnson-at-the-crossroads shit here.
From adultery, drug addiction, struggling with weight loss, high blood sugar, high blood pressure, gout, gambling . . . You do it to yourself, you do, and that's what really hurts, you do it to yourself, just you, you and no one else. You do it to yourself.
Man these guys were so great. Id always got the impression that they began their career with a rocky start, hell even the booklet in the Greatest Hits release says so. I dont believe a word of it
Thom got the lyrics muddles up just a bit, but it seems a rare thing for him to do. Anyway I'm not complaining he can do it if he wants seeing as it's their song, but also this was probably before they even recorded it so maybe that's how they had the lyrics at the time and just decided to change it.
This is nearly a year before the song was actually released. You can tell they're still working on it. Lyrics changed. And the mini solo after the second verse is completely different to what it actually is.
This song is evidenve that we can go back to the future 😏. They were ahead. From 1994 to 2017... It's the same song. Congratulation Tom Yorke. Radiohead is legend.
God look at that crowd! Really thankful America was far enough behind the curve so my first show was in 95 in a tiny 300 max capacity all ages venue not even half full, and in 98 in a super intimate small theater (Paramount, Seattle WA). The show at the Gorge in WA in 2001 is online, and it was epic, but I remember by the third encore I was walking away from my coveted spot front and center smashed into the barricade, watching them play Motion Picture Soundtrack from halfway up the hill, thinking “well. They belong to the world now.” Still love everything they do and go to their shows. But you just cannot get that level of intimacy in an arena with thousands of people singing along. (Singing along is fine and good with Karma Police or whatever, but for songs like exit music, and how to disappear, having some tone deaf idiot singing loudly out of tune next to me really takes away from the experience. Same experience with Elliott Smith. After he blew up fame wise that pure magic of seeing him in a tiny venue with 20-50 equally stunned and amazed fans just couldn’t be replicated in an enormous venue. Much preferred when it was silent amazement. The first time I saw him I remember getting shushed by a friend when I whispered “holy shit what song was that is that on the new...” “SHHHH!”😂. You could hear a pin drop during those early performances).
3:25 he rock hard. Love his expression.
after watching this hes no longer the only thing thats rock hard
Im harder
he's really feeling it

I kind of agree. What came after by Radiohead after the death of Kurt was pure brilliance. But it was only after Nirvana.
