haha good one.
lmfao
😂
😄
Thom Yorke has perfect anime hair
At 3:58 you can see Jonny playing guitar, but no sound comes out; that's because he muted himself with one pedal, played the background arpeggio, either without sound or with a back up ear piece (most likely the former), then hits a pedal to loop it and then proceeded to unmute himself.
This man is a beast.
Woa thanks for explaining that, dang Jonny
Yeah I figured that out probably after the 50th time watching it live on UA-cam.
I still don't get it. So the guy in black was playing music but muted to then loop the sound that he was playing after?
@@ThatHandleIsntAvailable no the guy in the cream shirt played something then put it on repeat so he could play two parts at once
i see what you mean. When he mutes the arpeggio, Jonny is adding some embellishments. Later, when he unmutes the arpeggio track, he’s still playing it
Nice of Ed to sing his own name on this one!
Lmao
"EEEEEHHHHHH .... ed"
😂
Ed's vocals here man.....
I feel it in my soul
Like a majestic lost wolf, howling for its pack
Ed ?

And for years to come my friend ❤

I just freaking got turned on to this tonight in yoga!!! Where have I been?? 😮🤯🤷🏼♀️🫦🧘🏼♀️
Boy do I have news for you...

The best live concert from the best album from the greatest band of the world.
Agreed

@Sicktor IN the world 💙
Yes after oasis
But agreed 😁
This song it's just... Unbelievable. Thank you Radiohead.
also: i know you guys stopped making From The Basement sessions, but we all need an AMSP one... please
I would like this song played at my funeral. Since the first day I heard it.
2:47 that note he hits is perfect
2:14 and eds vocals in the back give me chills everything about this performance is amazing♥️
I think I rewatched that exact same part like 10 times. It is so touching
Absolutely..
Up there with Mike Mills in REM as one of the great backing vocalists
eeeeeeeeeeeeeeddddddddd
Same. Love it
Never thought I'd see the day that In Rainbows from the Basement was officially released for free online (in HD as well, nonetheless), brings a tear to my eye
This is literally the greatest fucking song ever made
I still don't know how this song exists...it's like hidden wisdom from an advanced, extraterritorial life. A band that produces this certainly is a long way away from "creative differences"
Creative juxtaposition now.
to me it sounds like they combined a lot of their previous sounds and song compositions into this perfect song
I wonder myself the same...how could anybody come up with something so extraordinary like this??
Ed’s back vocals 🤯🤯
ed’s vocals are so majestic
Ed doing the eddddddd is legendary lol
Musicianship is just mind blowing. Everyone leaves if they get the chance.
Ed really carries this song. Don’t know about the album version but his inclusions are so evident here and really give the song so much power
I just realised it when I got to see them live. I was standing in front of Ed. Man adds layers which makes the whole difference.
@@williamoliveira1409 it's become a cliche but he really is their secret weapon, he's an exceptional guitar player when he needs to be but from Kid A on he's dedicated himself to finding any way he can to contribute to a song, and more often than not the things he contributes - with his background vocals, running his guitar through a ton of effects pedals, etc - are the things that take the song from "really good" to "transcendent"
@@smarroynothing beats ed with a tambourine
2:15 absolutely adorable moment when Thom mouths singing along to Ed’s backing vocal ❤❤
I can’t count how many times I’ve watched this entire session 🙌🏾
I'm on 20 now
Same
I was always biased against Radiohead growing up. Hated Creep. Hated the videos. Didn't like the band's look. Then I heard this song. That cymbal crash on the 'edge of the earth' lyric. MMMM. Now a total fan. Its like finding a new band in 2020 with a dope catalog.
to be fair no one's gonna judge anyone anymore for not liking creep lmao
So what havee listened to so far? More to the point, ya like them?
@@PursuedByAMemory The whole discography. I guess I'm pretty basic in that I think In Rainbows is the classic disc of hits, and Kid A is a great piece of music. I also really dig KOL. The rest have at least something redeeming, either individual songs or as a whole album. But In Rainbows is a classic rock album imo.
@@running4kabob glad to see you appreciate TKOL. That’s the album that got me to pay attention to Radiohead and dive into their discography. But it’s also the album that most of Radiohead’s fans still haven’t caught up with and they don’t understand it to this day.
omg exactly same
something safe feeling about the bass returning like "na i've been here the whole time, don't worry"
My fav Weird Fishes performance.👌🏻 It is absolute perfection! 🙌🏻🤩
I absolutely agree with you.
It's good but, not as good as the Jools Holland performance. That is something else.
@@nitennr1087 Its a close tie between this one, Scotch Mist and Jools...but I reckon the Jools one has so much urgency it shades the others.
Really wish I had close friends who loved Radiohead. Wish people would just be like- yeah- wow- beautiful!!!!
Right? Everyone looks at me sideways when I say I like radiohead. Sucks not being able to share the appreciation
I know what you mean. Just got to be my own friend until THAT friend appears and share the love for radiohead. But can always Cound my UA-cam friends
I got my daughter.. not necessarily her type of music, but every song I send she says "wow I really liked that*
Almost forgot to listen to this today.
Don't forget 😊
Heligoland, another Masterpiece!
The drummer is so freaking tight and don't get me started on the guitar and bass playing in harmony and the smooth voice of an angel! Rock on!
This will never get old, ever. What a masterpiece, what a drummer
The whole band is simply incredible, but Thom is absolutely mesmerizing to watch perform - I can't help but move with him.
Its 2020 and TY has given us a new tactical dance line as if Ian Curtis never died.
This is one of those songs that never gets boring, i can listen to this for an eternity
Discovered this song 2 days ago, man WTF is this masterpiece ! If my soul had a melody it would be exactly this... Walking in this world randomly with no destination, seeing all his sadness and his beauty. Found someone of something that make me feel alive. Fight for it. Then die with all theses questions. Is the travel more important the destination ? I think so. And i'll travel with Radiohead now.
Nice comments. Good to see Radiohead get still new fans.
Welcome 🙏
Oh yeah a friend recommended Radiohead to me about a month ago and now I’m a huge fan. Their music is absolutely beautiful 🤩
A few years ago, I had a period of listening to just In Rainbows for a while, specially the From The Basement versions, mostly this song alongside Videotape
All these years later, I still get hit by the same emotions, amplified, thinking of the same person.
Thank you for all the music and moments
One of the most musically moving pieces on the internet, absolute earcandy
Thom Yorke bobble head.
This is one of the best songs of the 21st century.
His live performances blow out the candles from my 15 birthday.

In the deepest ocean
The bottom of the sea

This song has saved me multiple times, It's so soothing that it's comforting.
good god....a round of applause for the engineers please .....who ever did it really engineered the shit out of this one.....yes... I think I can feel the universe....talking to me.....
God has a reason for this to see the real man that has laid beside me.
Yes, capturing this is a very big deal!
Probably, Godrich with assistants.
Nigel Godrich, why of course
with a fanbase like this radiohead should be considered a gay band
1000 years from now this will still be the measuring stick for greatness.
this is insanely well produced
I know I'm probably wrong, but this song for me is the best love song I've ever heard. It is MY meaning, it does not have to be yours.
Weird Fishes speaks (for me x2) of longing for such a great love to overcome the physical plane. At once to die with that special person, to become both part of a whole, like dust from the air itself. Some of the phrases that convey that to me are things like "your eyes transform me", "Yes, everyone would leave if they had the chance (not everyone finds that love so pure). And, this is my chance". "I was devoured by worms and rare fish" is literally the body being fed to fertilize the soil. Like being buried under a growing tree. Then the rest is redundant, things like "I would be crazy not to follow you, to follow you where you go". Like "I don't even doubt it, I'm in love with you, this is real love, with you until the end."
It's... Just something beautiful. Achieving that purity with someone, or at least longing for it, must be such a pure feeling. It's one of the few Radiohead songs that makes me cry with happiness.
The last part, literally, is Thom narrating how that person, aware of her death, hugs her calmly. He or she will meet again. He is escaping from this world and his energy or I don't know what, will go with that person he loved so much.
Without a doubt, for me, the purest (positive) love song I've ever heard.
It isn't really surprising that you interpret it as a love song because In Rainbows from Radiohead is much more romantic than most of their other albums I think. Yes this song is probably not about romance but it is understandable that you interpret it that way
One of my fave band of all time. I was a 2nd year college student when they released Pablo Honey… fact I still have the cassette tape with me along with The Bends and OK Computer.
Simply one of best performances ever captured on UA-cam!
If you're ever trying to explain to a serious musician what it means to have your shit together, show them this.
💯
I wish you all knew how much I appreciate you. You are all so very talented, the drummer is something else man. This band has the greatest vibe going for real. Still do. Freaking awesome.
This is a MASTERPIECE.
Masterpiece, no doubt. It made my day, i didn't know this amazing song.

Best performance of this song

The Cameraman is very professional, if i were in his place i would be dancing more than the vocalist LOL
beautiful song, beautiful performance.
I've watched this video hundreds of times. I cannot get enough of it. I find myself focusing on Colin and how he is really in the grove.
Bass player smashes it ... he's greatly understated and does a proper solid job.
Maybe my favourite Radiohead song and I almost love all of them.
Just like a Jigsaw puzzle, this band fits perfectly together...
Ed and Jonny .. what a one two punch 🤯
Definitely One of the Best group of rock musicians in my lifetime; I'm 62 B.T.W.
Radiohead - exactly, like the radio music jammed into your head ❤ 🎶
True musicianship. Very tediously perfected and sound organised. Melodically momentous. The tones relate to each other and resonate vibrantly. Sacred!
This is one of the rare songs that the lead singer is backup singer for….. the drummer. Amazing ….. love this band and this song
Ed O'brien's BV's are one of the greatest delights in the world
Perfect song
the drumming as usual is so tight as are the whole band .. awesome 🙂
This song is so special in so many ways ...i love it ,wish you all well , Sylvia
the earth stopped turning when this song came out
Amazingly sounds just like the studio version
i love listening to from the basement because it feels like such a refresher from the originals
Quizás el grupo más brillante y talentoso de toda la humanidad. Lo que ellos hacen... Dios, jamás lo he visto en otras bandas, ni si quiera se acercan. Radiohead es la cima del talento musical de tiempos modernos.
I can’t tell you what this song does to me. There aren’t words.
It feels like it’s from another, enlightened, much higher place. God it’s beautiful.
Do watch Lianne laHavas cover. It’s beautiful to - she makes it her own without imitation.
One of the greatest bands of all time doing what they do!!
You either have to be right to get with this song or it gets you right so you can get with it
this is the truest comment on here. I feel like a straggling sheep and a new sound from behind like a sheepdog to rally you to the next meeting point
Such a great song!
this is one of if not the most awe inducing song in the world
The best song over
Beautiful
The absolute best ever.
Not just my favorite Radiohead song but my favorite song period 💯
Such a shame that I know so many people just don’t get their music… I don’t know band covers every detail in the song like they do. Perfect!
The best band of it's time ,a thinking man's band , I hit the bottom and escape .
Qué músicos! Este tema es tremendo!

im sorry, but i saw the "Shreds version" of this first (using the same video and everything) so i can never 'unhear' that version...
...but this (and the studio version) is still a beautiful song...its almost like the guys arent even Playing it-- they just happen to be Conduits for the music, to transfer from the aether to the mics...

It’s crazy. I know the bass player talks about having the string guard on and it makes her a worse bass player, but it really keeps her tone in the midrange and i love it.
During the 5 minutes and 38 seconds of this song I wouldn't mind being heartbroken, deep in the hardest moments of it. Let's fucking go.
