This is exactly what it means, the breath of kyne guided the atmorans fo Skyrim, and which it is called the throat of the world. So it is exactly what you think it is.

Idk why, but whenever I listen to long podcasts, I usually dream in and out of them, sort of like background noise. With you guys, I just literally sit down at the dinner table, my desk or my bed and just listen throughout the entire thing. I definitely feel a dopamine rush whenever I see a podcast from you guys! Or maybe I'm just a hardcore ES lore nerd. It's the same with Tolkien's books and the Dune series. Said it before and I'll say it again, I can literally listen to you guys for hours. That 5 hour podcast, I'd make time and listen through the whole damn thing! Cheers! I'm definitely interested in the 'clever men' of the Nords, or perhaps a closer look at the Nordic pantheon (minus Alduin) and their worshippers, especially Jhunal, and the general decline of magic with the Nords, and how magic was possibly even practiced with he ancient Nords, the Nordic worshippers of Julianos etc.
As far as Orkey goes, I thought that since Arkay is an elven god that ascended from being an elf that he would hate the Nords and therefore ally with the Orcs and try to undermine Nordic power
Even if the Nords never came, the concept of Shezzar was known to the Nedes(because they invented the term/name), and thus Pelinal would have still came to their aid. Here my reasoning. Alessia literally says that she thinks "Freedom" is another name for "Shezzar Who Goes Missing" after conceptualizing what it was to be free before receiving her visions and her rebellion. Shezzar was worshipped by the pre-slavery Proto-Cyrodilic Nedes as a Hero-God that fought the Elves to keep man free. It was only after Shezzar left that the Nedes were subjugated by the Aylieds. Shezzar and the concept of Sezzarine are native to Cyrodil. It doesnt meen that Shezzarines weren't popping up amongst the Nords, Bretons, and Redguard, they jhst wouldnt have called them "Shezzarine" but rather a local name for the same concept, but the Nedes would recognize as such.
Rise Nords remembere the glory of the past, return to the time of the dragon Wulfharth. Drive out outsiders who would have you cast out honor and glory for a moments peace, return to the call of the storm crown who is the chosen of dreaming Shor. Death to the Elves, death to the Empire, the time of Men will never end!
I never knew the Ice Wraith hunting lore, so it never made sense to me that you have to kill an ice wraith for joining Ulfric. It finally makes sense now though!
53:00- 53:16 you guys forget in the oblivion mages guild (before the college of winterhold in skyrim ) hannibal traven did not tolerate necromancy and banned it which led to some juicy conflict
I would love an in depth perspective on the nord's side of the battle of red mountain, because shor apparently had regained his heart for a little while according to them
Scott: "Barbarians can't really compete with advance technology" German Barbarians that brought the most influential empire (Rome) of all time to its knees even tho they were less advanced and were less organized: "Am I a joke to you?"
To be fair what really brought down the roman empire was infighting and limits of organizational means due to its sheer massive size. The loss at the teuteburger forest was just a symptom of the overarching problem.
38:00 YES! What Scott is saying is WHY Bear War Sleds and Bear this and that is GREAT in Total War Warhammer 3. People expect only horses and humans and guns and spears for Kislev? It's a FANTASY...why not make it fantastical?
Regarding the ancient wooden structures, like Jorvaskr or Dragonsreach, since they've been continualy inhabited the entire time, maybe the people just repaired them over time and replaced the wood? Then of course you could argue that it isn't the original boat, but I mean, you could make the same argument for most of HMS Victory.
I was thinking about the theory that the Civil War is what the thalmor want and I kinda agree. That's what anyone would want intentional or unintentional. Like a good game of risk. But the only thing is Nords are fucking determined, ambitious brutes. Their retaliation against the snow elves drove them into near extinction, they won the dragon war, and honestly they are the backbone of the empire. The empire would most likely be nothing without em. So the Nords standing as one in skyrim could definitely kick the thalmors ass not to mention the empire.
I know you guys have done more than one elder scrolls 6 video, but I like hearing your guys opinions on what was and what you think should be. I'd like to see more es6 videos talking about skill systems, quest designs, armor and weapons, etc. I think you did one on factions which was cool.
I would love to see episodes on all the various philosophies across Tamriel, especially on how they interact with each other and affect the wider world. An episode dedicated solely to raw theory would be nice too.
Low key i think Bethesda is going to find a way to bring back the old Nordic pantheon, like the Stormcloaks winning and Ulfric re-instating the old faith or something In the 10 years since Skyrim i've seen way too many people say they would like the old Nordic pantheon to be popular in-game
Eating horse nuts to become strong? Anyone heard about Chinese Medicine? How many tigers, elephants and rhinos +++ all kinds of animals die every year because of modern superstition.
I'm doing my first ever Nord playthrough of Skyrim right now, feels appropriate to play while I listen :D Edit: would definitely love to see an episode just about the voice!
Drew made a great point at the beginning of this podcast - Why did the Atmorans come to skyrim? Were they summonened/ invited by the older gods or newer gods?
What if the green banner is discolored because it was only just made before the dwemer disappeared and they hadn't had a chance to make it immune to the effects of time, leaving this lone surviving unblessed banner... or maybe its just a cheap falmer knockoff
I think the reason why the Nordic religion was watered was to give the Civil War an easy digestible cause for players. The preferred setting imo would be the Western holds being more imperialized and the Eastern holds being more Nordic, the issue that arises is why would the Eastern Nords be more pissed off about the Talos ban than the Western holds? We could probably come up with in universe explanations for why that would be but Bethesda wanted any player to be able to understand the Civil War regardless of their previous experience with the franchise and its lore. I do think they could have thought of ways around this issue and I think the simplest solution would to just be to add some lore that in the 3rd era the Nords of Skyrim adopted Talos as part of the Nordic pantheon and Talos could be sort of a unifying religious figure between the imperialized western Nords and the more traditional eastern Nords and is why these two different religions in Skyrim are able to tolerate each other. A bit of a side note, but I think "loan-god" just means that Orkey is an amalgam of all foreign gods that the Nords fight, which is why he's "borrowed" and not Nordic in origin. The reason he is related to Malacath is due to the Nords warring with Orcs and High Elves (Malacath used to be Trinimac). And the reason Orkey is the representation of foreign adversaries and the god of death is due to the Nords warlike nature, most Nords who die are going to die fighting their enemies aka people who Orkey represents. And keep up the good work guys!!!
Scott: "what if Ysgramor never came?" he would spend the rest of his life assuring anyone that never happened before and would make sure you knew it the moment you entered the Hall of Valor

You guys really point out the reason I still love Morrowind the best. Don't get me wrong, Skyrim and Oblivion were fine games, and I played them for hundreds of hours, but the magic, mystique, depth, epicness, strangeness, and on and so forth, is what I loved about Morrowind, and why I keep coming back to it. This deep and profound, rather thought-provoking lore of creation, Almsivi, the betrayal of Nervarine and Dagoth Urs origin and motives, the Dunmer's Origins, traditions and cermonies, everything is so complex yet fresh, and most of it you have to dig for to get there. It's a game that just keeps on giving everytime you play it, whereas Skyrim and Oblivion are much more streamlined, almost to the point that there's no reason to explore for anything but epic loot, which is nice, but putting it in context, and filling the world with these dualities and philosophies is exactly why Morrowind still reigns supreme. Then again, the reason why Skyrim sells is because of the streamlining, which wasn't a bad move on Bethesda's part, but it did sacrifice a lot of the things that made Elder Scrolls so darn interesting.
I know it's not the series canon or anything, but I'd like to know what you guys think of the Vigilant-Glenmoril-Unslaad mod trilogy and how it plays with and expands upon the Deep LoreTM of the universe.
I would like to hear a you guys discuss an ideal version of Skyrim. You could approach it from game play, lore and world building perspectives. Cause I agree with the point about real world feasibility had a negative impact on Skyrim.
41:44. In actual real world history the Vikings used to carry their ships across Russia southward towards the Byzantine Empire in the Back Sea. So it is actually possible to carry a ship that far!!!! In fact the word Russia comes from the term used to describe those Vikings who settled there or travelled through. It means: "the land of the rowers" I'm not 100% sure though. Maybe 75/80%
I believe that Es6 is gonna be a combination of everything we've seen and heard and then some with a bit of final fantasy and world of warcraft, lost ark, new world kinda games
The Nords are easily the best Race beside Bretons. The have access to enchanted weapons and armor from the college, the have the fleet from Windhelm to set sail with marines, the have their heros and dragonborn, and they have Eorland Gray-Mane smithing them the best steel in Nirn. I would have loved to see Nordic carved weapons and armor be mainstream for civilians and everyone, that is their current historical armor.

I would like the what if the nords didn't come idea, though I think The redguards would kindof take over their role
There should be an episode based on what if the Nords never left Atmora. It would have to be a long episode. Like 30 minutes at least
@@idipped2521
the nords would become a bunch of human popsicles.
Yes! Yes! Yes! I've been waiting for a new podcast from you guys, I cant stop, you guys do such a good job, keep it up
Been watching since the skyrim builds on xbox, love what you turned the channel into
Edit: omg I got a heart from big daddy scrolls himself, praise the ancestors
Never edit comments just to thank some random online people. You might just end up losing your heart 😁😁
@@EinFelsbrocken yea I found that out the hard way
love your podcasts, really good material. keep it going guys!
The Nords are the truest warriors
They had to make Nords anti magic to nerf them. Ancient Nords had the best of both worlds!
Do one on the 36 lessons please!
Michael: 5 hour podcast
Me: that's not a threat, that's an offer
Weird how much Nord mythology mirrors Egyptian mythology.
I like Drew's voice, he could narrate anything and it would make it 100 times better
Wow I pressed this immediatly
Same👌
Nice primer for work. Hairy men and mead!!
I never knew the Ice Wraith hunting lore, so it never made sense to me that you have to kill an ice wraith for joining Ulfric. It finally makes sense now though!
The Ebonheart Pact on ESO be like "Fus-Ro-ZERG!!!"
53:00- 53:16 you guys forget in the oblivion mages guild (before the college of winterhold in skyrim ) hannibal traven did not tolerate necromancy and banned it which led to some juicy conflict
I would love an in depth perspective on the nord's side of the battle of red mountain, because shor apparently had regained his heart for a little while according to them
Scott: "Barbarians can't really compete with advance technology"
German Barbarians that brought the most influential empire (Rome) of all time to its knees even tho they were less advanced and were less organized: "Am I a joke to you?"
To be fair what really brought down the roman empire was infighting and limits of organizational means due to its sheer massive size. The loss at the teuteburger forest was just a symptom of the overarching problem.
The Huns did the groundwork for them.
@@barkasz6066 Debating that point aside still by Roman standards of the time the Huns were considered barbarians if not nearly as underdeveloped.
Ah, you have saved my sunday (again)! 😁 Thank you guys!
Best part of my week is when this video drops. Cheers again boys
Edit: I would love a 5 hour podcast lads don’t taunt me 😂
I was thinking about the theory that the Civil War is what the thalmor want and I kinda agree.
Damn, just missed listening this to my morning chores. Lol. Can't wait to listen!
I know you guys have done more than one elder scrolls 6 video, but I like hearing your guys opinions on what was and what you think should be. I'd like to see more es6 videos talking about skill systems, quest designs, armor and weapons, etc. I think you did one on factions which was cool.
This podcast was jumping all over the place
I would love to see episodes on all the various philosophies across Tamriel, especially on how they interact with each other and affect the wider world. An episode dedicated solely to raw theory would be nice too.
Elder scrolls theory: Do the Giants clubs have antigravity enchantments on them?
That would be a very violent and nongentle 0 gravity experience .-.
Low key i think Bethesda is going to find a way to bring back the old Nordic pantheon, like the Stormcloaks winning and Ulfric re-instating the old faith or something
In the 10 years since Skyrim i've seen way too many people say they would like the old Nordic pantheon to be popular in-game
A look at every variation on Nordic religion could be a fun one.
Eating horse nuts to become strong?
Anyone heard about Chinese Medicine? How many tigers, elephants and rhinos +++ all kinds of animals die every year because of modern superstition.
I'd love some ESO lore and content!
I'm doing my first ever Nord playthrough of Skyrim right now, feels appropriate to play while I listen :D
Edit: would definitely love to see an episode just about the voice!
Drew made a great point at the beginning of this podcast - Why did the Atmorans come to skyrim? Were they summonened/ invited by the older gods or newer gods?
Atmore was freezing over to the point it was uninhabitable
Atmora didnt completely freeze over till the end of the 2nd era
@@patkidd6489
This channel gonna explode like crazy with ES6. Crazy how one game can be worth more than 10 years of content.
Talos is apart of the Nordic pantheon in 3rd era. He's known as Ysmir
Scott: "what if Ysgramor never came?"
he would spend the rest of his life assuring anyone that never happened before and would make sure you knew it the moment you entered the Hall of Valor
Im buying some merch in two weeks when I get paid i watch your podcast every night you guys take away my suicidal thoughts,my anger it all just goes away thank you 😊 of course it comes back in the morning but that's not the point.
I wish the best for you. The way you feel is real and its horrible but when its raining in your head the bad weather will pass, you don't have control of when, but there will be good weather again. carry on day by day and at some point you'll notice that the days being just a bit easier to deal with 😊
I like the idea of what if Nords never came. Also what happens to the Nords after the events of Skyrim? Let's say they fall as the dragonborn is in tentacle land... does shor and all the warriors hes gathered save them? Thanks for the content!
Hey Fudgemuppet, do you guys have a link for that thumbnail artwork? Its really sick.
is there discussion of the nords’ love for wasabi in this?
I hate to beat a dead horse but we need another build soon!! More with enaisions mods! I current have them all downloaded for a fully revamped Skyrim gameplay wise
Can Drew whisper Mephala's dark secrets to me as I drift off to sleep? Thanks.
Saving this for later
I know it's not the series canon or anything, but I'd like to know what you guys think of the Vigilant-Glenmoril-Unslaad mod trilogy and how it plays with and expands upon the Deep LoreTM of the universe.
Tsun God of guard duty 🤣
I would like to hear a you guys discuss an ideal version of Skyrim. You could approach it from game play, lore and world building perspectives. Cause I agree with the point about real world feasibility had a negative impact on Skyrim.
Well saying that the nords don't belong in skyrim is like saying that white, black or latin americans don't belong in America.
Michael lifted his arms up and I didnt realize that he was shredded
I thought I wasn't quite right. Sweet
It always comes back to ES6 discussion
