Folks, if you ever have the good fortune to meet Stephen, you're in for a treat. I met him several days ago at J&M Tackle in Orange Beach, and he's the nicest, friendliest, and most humble person you could imagine. It was the highlight of my week.
Same thing happened to me at J&M. I was in town fishing around Old River and he gave me plenty of local knowledge. Super nice dude, 0 ego, and happy to chat to a complete stranger.
I’ve met his Mom not long ago @ WM she is sweet as can be and my husband met her just the other day @ J&M she resisted buying a pink yeti cup that day…she loves her color pink 😊 it’s my turn to run into Stephen
Stephen, as someone new to boating I would love to see your procedure from start to finish on boating. From boat hookup, thru launch out and back in including all straps, etc, then if/how you clean your boat and trailer after fishing.
There's probably no more exciting feeling than turning around and looking at that big shiny new piece of hardware hanging off the transom, then putting the wood to her and getting up on pad. Congrats!
Congratulations on the new motor. It's always exciting getting something like that. I bought my first 4 stroke two years ago, and love it. I had a person ask me why my bilge pump was constantly running when I went to park my truck. When I asked what he meant, he pointed at the stream of water coming out of my engine. It was so quiet, he had no clue it was running.
Congratulations on the new power. That’s a big purchase and I know you’re happy to show it to your viewers. As a marine tech, I’m happy to see you breaking it in properly. I make my living when boats fail, but I hate seeing them mistreated even though that’s largely what pays the bills!
I have sat by and watched my husband and future son in law watch you fish for months! They’ve planned and prepared and now we are in Fort Morgan this week and they are not catching fish as easily as you have made them think it would be! We are here til Saturday so feel free to come find them and show them how it’s done! 😂
Congrats on the new Yamaha 250! I think you will be very happy with it. I have put over 1000 hours on mine in the last 2 years with No issues at all. Lots of good info in the video, especially on the break-in procedure.
Hey Stephen - sweet!!!! My son and I have a 23’ Sportsman with the same engine, also 2023. With 3 guys, trolling motor/batteries, fishing gear and 60+ gals of gas we’ve been a hair over 51…so right in line. I wouldn’t be surprised once you get the feel of how this one likes to be trimmed you don’t do a little bit better than that!
Interesting backstory on the Lady in the Bay. Congrats on the new motor. I've never fished the orange beach area, but my son-in-law in Mobile says it's great and always ask me to bring my boat when we visit. Gonna do just that one day. Really like your videos, reminds me of growing up in Pensacola.
Yamaha is a awesome engine. I have a 2011 200hp 2 stroke. I'd love a new 4 stroke but I only have a 111 hrs on this engine. It's on a 1995 Wahoo 21 ft offshore model. I run 54 mph with a full tank (80 gals) and just me and gear on the boat. Why only 111 hrs ? My wifes father had the boat custom made in 1995 and repowered in 2011 and didn't use the boat very often due to health issues. The boat set in a open air garage four years when I got it. I've put about 8 grand into so far and ita beasts. The engine had 50 hours on it when I got 2 years ago. The motor runs like new.
I know the feeling of a new boat motor! I have been restoring a 18 ft center console for the last 2 years. And just added a brand new Tuhatsu 115. Nothing brings new life to an older boat than a new motor!
I'm in the UK. I don't even fish, I just enjoy fishing content and @bamasaltwater is one of the best. Now I'm just here watching a man sea test his new boat engine 😂
I'm from Baldwin Co. and I love your videos and even more than that I'm loving watching you get to spend your days doing what you love and making that sweet sweet influencer money. I hope you buy that lot two spots down from the folks, put a huge pier out there and end up with a Viking 55' at the end of it brother, but something tells me you'd never get that flashy.
You will enjoy that motor! My son guides on Yellowstone Lake and they put 250 Honda 4 strokes on all there 30' Grady-White boats this year! They are a lot quieter than the 2 strokes! Great video by the way!!
Congratulations on your new power! Hope you have many great safe memories with it. We will be with you all the way. Keep up the great job man!! Also thank you for thanking God on every adventure. Your a first class young man in my book!
Great motor we use the same motor twins on a 45 feet commercial passenger catamaran day after day with no problems. They have lasted up to 6000 hours before being replaced still running but with some compression loss.
I just bought a 24' Cajun tunnel hull center console with a Johnson 200hp 2 stroke Ocean Runner with 15 minutes on the engine clock. (New old stock engine) Taking it out this weekend and following Johnson break in steps. That's right, surgeon released me to do what I what after broken neck in January! YES! I'm fishing again!
Stephen you made a good choice on a new engine. It sounds sweet and should serve you well in the coming years. My the Good Lord bless you and keep you safe.
Stephen if you come in from the land side and drive in towards Barbra marina they have some really cool dinosaurs and other statues. Like Stonehenge and a huge spider right outside of the marina.
Yes they do!! Super interesting to see the "Bama Henge" haha! Barber is Definitely an interesting fella for sure. I do love the fact he hasn't developed on majority of the land he owns "so far"
@@BamaSaltwater yea I work for the power company and that’s our transmission line behind them and then goes underneath the intercoastle waterway. It’s the longest transmission line underneath a waterway like that in the US I do believe. Been going in and out of there for years and always thought it was a neat place.
I visited this are because of this channel. I now live here and would love to pay you for a charter. I’ve learned most of what I know about a Saltwater fishing from your content.
You should look into getting a toroidal prop for your new engine from Sharrow Marine, they show ~30% increase in efficiency and would help you save a ton of gas over the life of the new engine. Plus its a lot quieter.
Thanks, Steven for this video! I’m looking to buy my first boat and videos like this are extremely valuable! Congrats on the new motor! It looks and runs great! Stay Safe and God Bless!!
Yeah. Very fast. Here in the Pacific, we fell down specific trees and make a keel out of it. A couple of Briggs and Stratton or Yanmar engines, bolt it in, and off we go fishing heavies. Nice test run mate.
Nice looking rig, Stephen ! Congratulations on the repower ! I just bought a new rig in July and we put in at that ramp for the sea trial. Enjoy that new Yamahammer !
Maybe one day, I Personally like the versatility of my boat currently. That's why I repowered instead of selling. Plus I like a "paid off" boat these days better haha!
Upgrade to a Mercury Enertia performance propeller, not the ECO, but the original Enertia. You should be able to pull 6000 rpms typical fishing weight with a 20" pitch Enertia. I'm getting 6000 rpms with a 19 " pitch Mercury Enertia out of my Yamaha 4.2l SHO of my heavier, deep vee, 24 degree deadrise Sailfish 220CC and 60 mph WOT, light. Plus...I don't have an Atlas jack plate like you. My rig was bought from the Sailfish dealer, Grander Marine, in Orange Beach
Thanks for Watching! Here is the backstory on the "Lady in the Bay". Interesting read haha: www.roadsideamerica.com/story/36350
I remember seeing it when they had it at Barber Raceway.
Folks, if you ever have the good fortune to meet Stephen, you're in for a treat. I met him several days ago at J&M Tackle in Orange Beach, and he's the nicest, friendliest, and most humble person you could imagine. It was the highlight of my week.
That’s what I heard of to from couple of the tackle shops him and his family are so kind and friendly.
Same thing happened to me at J&M. I was in town fishing around Old River and he gave me plenty of local knowledge. Super nice dude, 0 ego, and happy to chat to a complete stranger.
I believe that’s why is channel has been so successful in a short time.
He’s just a nice guy that knows how to catch fish.
I’ve met his Mom not long ago @ WM she is sweet as can be and my husband met her just the other day @ J&M she resisted buying a pink yeti cup that day…she loves her color pink 😊
it’s my turn to run into Stephen
Legend 🤙
My husband and I really enjoy your videos. We can tell you are a nice young man. Keep up the good work!
Stephen, as someone new to boating I would love to see your procedure from start to finish on boating. From boat hookup, thru launch out and back in including all straps, etc, then if/how you clean your boat and trailer after fishing.
Can't get enough of your fishing videos. You're #1 in my lineup of bookmarked videos.

LOL... was wondering who was in the water behind your boat... very interesting. Awesome new motor!
You actually taught me how to run your boat with how much gas is in the tank thank you for that. 50 is fast for a boat that size. Awesome man

That Rusty Moore push boat brings gas barges into Freeport where I live. He is tied up here a couple time a week. Nice motor too!
Congratulations on the new motor it sounds and looks awesome
Always fun getting a new motor and as far as you go out solo a new motor vs a 16 year motor is probably a good thing! Congrats!
You should look into getting a toroidal prop for your new engine from Sharrow Marine, they show ~30% increase in efficiency and would help you save a ton of gas over the life of the new engine. Plus its a lot quieter.
Excelente info for the ones that might be new to boating. Thank you
