    Hi Kristen just an FYI for future sewing projects, when you are asked to stay stitch its always a straight stitch. The stay stitches are meant to stop the fabric from stretching (especially stretchy fabrics) when you are attaching another piece of the pattern to them. They are most often used in areas where there are a curve, like a neckline/hoodie that has zipper or button opening and doesn't need to stretch to be worn. I hope that make sense :-)

      Oh my stars!! That makes perfect sense. I was planning to Google it, I swear! (right after I crossed off the other 100 things on my to-do list) 😂 Thank you for that explanation, Sew Spin Knit!! 💖

    I keep trying to resist purchasing an electric eel, but seeing them pop up everywhere has me seriously tempted.

    Hi Love your podcast, I have been sewing most of my wardrobe most of my adult life. Stay stitching should be done with a straight stitch even on stretch fabric to stop the neckline stretching while you add the hood or collar or facing. It is usually done just inside the deadline so it doesn't show. If it was at 3/8" the seam should have been 1/2". Most knits look better finished but don't fray which might be with the designer left that out of the pattern. Hope you don't mind me sharing some of my sewing experience. Keep up with the sewing.

    You definitely have awoken the sewing bug in me but I am so overwhelmed as where to start. I know HOW to sew but I've done quilts so it's mostly just straight lines. I don't think I will have a problem sewing something, as long as I start out simple (I have attempted sewing clothing before). I was actually thinking I would like to make some tops for myself since I don't like what the retail stores usually have to offer. So the fact that you mentioned sewing more tops in the future has me excited--I'm sure you'll have some great suggestions (maybe even a sew along :) ).

    Trying to play catch up on your channel...I soooo want one of those little spinners!!!
    A possible idea for the happy accident grommet holes, thread the string through them and add the little plastic spring loaded whatchamacalits like on rain coats to cinch the hood instead of tying the strings.
    Keep up the good work missy 😉💟

    I was thinking using a mouse pad to stabilize the nano! Loved this podcast. I'm going to hop onto the nano bandwagon when next paycheck comes in 😊

      @Voolenvine  4 роки тому +1

      That's a great idea, Ellie! I didn't think of that. A mousepad would totally work.

    Have you looked into nalbinding? It's a Scandinavian form of fibre craft similar to crochet. Really afordable to get into as well.

    See if there is anything you can prop your mini eel wheel up on that would allow air flow underneath the motor. My husband rigged up a little wooden U-shaped stand that sits up the eew off of the table and allows air under the motor and now it no longer gets hot. (Also maybe let up on the drive band tension a little too).

    • @Voolenvine
      @Voolenvine  4 роки тому

      Great tips! Thank you!! It actually helped to losen up the tension band. :D

    Fyi..the reason so many people suddenly seem to be on the Nano bandwagon is because the wheels that were sold during their Kickstarter shipped out this last month. I got mine too and am so excited!
    I had done only drop spindle before this so my learning curve is still steep but will get there.

    • @Voolenvine
      @Voolenvine  4 роки тому

      Yes!! I first learned on a drop spindle, too ... but after giving the wheel a try, it took my spinning to the next level, even when I came back to the drop spindle.

    Would someone be able to send me a link to the nano? I see it on my screen but it doesn’t take me there. Maybe if it were in the form of an email or online just by itself with the WWW I could access it that way thanks in advance Jane

    I couldn't finish Mary Queen of Scots; for some reason it was too much for me to watch - I can't place my finger on why really; probably the drama. That being said, why did she have a BROGUE!!! Mary grew up in france, if anything she had a french accent (much more likely).I do have to say that I loved the inclusion of BIPOC in this retelling of the story. Because they chose to steer so far away from some of the historical "truths" it really allowed for diversity within the cast that we don't see nearly enough of in historical movies.

    • @Voolenvine
      @Voolenvine  4 роки тому

      I can totally understand not making it through the film. It had some pretty intense scenes. And YESSS! I don't think the filmmakers were ignorant or lazy about being historically accurate - ok, maybe the missing French accent (seriously, what was up with that??) But unlike past historical "Hollywood" films, I love that these filmmakers made a creative effort and took the opportunity to include a more diverse cast!
