Thanks for reviewing this. I'll just note that the static buildup issue mentioned around 16:00 was only a problem in the first batch (these people got a fix kit shipped to them to them). I'm now shipping my third batch and that issue no longer happens.

I was not able to afford a beautiful spinning wheel so I purchased the E-spinner. I love it. It is very meditative and calming to spin on it and I can move it around my house and it takes up very little space.

I have 3 espinners! I have a Daedalus mini, a Daedalus V3 and an Ashford Espinner. My Daedalus spinners are like super streamlined sexy machines. They are silent, they spin super fast too. My ashford espinner is ok. It has issues the other two don’t, like spin back when you stop.
I have connective tissue and joint disease. Without my espinners the world of spinning would be closed to me.

The end result is to make yarn and it looks like that little wheel will get you there. Thanks for the review.

    Thank you for this review!
I have a spinal injury with nerve damage leading to both pain and reduced function in one of me legs. Treadling would become very painful, very fast. My house is tiny and I don’t have the room for a treadling wheel even if I could use it for an extended period of time. My budget is just about as tiny as my house. Until last month, I used a supported spindle for spinning my lace weight yarn. It took me a long time to spin enough fibre for a lace knitting project. I bought myself the EEW Nano2 because it fits the size of my house, my budget and my physical limitations. It’s amazing, I absolutely love it. I can see how it wouldn’t be suitable for art yarns but it’s wonderful for lace weight and cobweb yarns. The bobbins are smaller than the ones for the EEW 6, but that doesn’t affect me even for plying as I prefer my yarn skeins small, it fits my projects and I’ve figured out how to seamlessly join skeins and yarn balls anyway.
Note: I live in Europe, the EEW machines are more expensive here but in no way as expensive as any spinning wheel I could get (both the EEW 6 and the EEW Nano2). Replacement parts are easy to get, troubleshooting is easy (just contact Maurice, the maker) and I’m really, REALLY happy with my purchase.
    Happy spinning!

Hi from New Zealand. I have an ashford e spinner and wouldn't be without it now. I injured my leg two years ago and found spinning on my traditional spinning wheel was causing me pain. I still have my treadle wheel but the bulk of my spinning is done on the electric wheel. I enjoy watching your podcast. Thank you.

Thank you for your honest review. I have a Hansen with a Woolee Winder and although I do love it they are IMHO beyond ridiculous in cost. I got mine before the EEWs came out and, in actuality, there is minimal difference between the two except for aesthetics. Aesthetics matters in regular spinning wheels but to me, once again, IMHO, aesthetics don't matter much with e spinners so I would have MUCH preferred it to cost less. The only advantage to the Hansen is having the auto-winder.

I got mine in December and I love it. I tried drop spindle and just couldn’t get the hang of it. I was in the process of saving for a wheel when I learned about the Eew6 and it have been spinning recognizable yarn from day one.

I started spinning because I was trying something new and wanted to choose something that would not cost a lot or require a lot of new tools, and bought a drop spindle and some fiber. I bought the same spinner (EEW6) and have been using it for the past week. I love it! I went from a drop spindle (still use) to this and it's amazing especially for plying. The only minor issue I had was an easy fix and mentioned in their video FAQ, which was using some tape (I used Washi) to hold down my leader on the bobbin because when I wanted to ply, the leader was hitched but spinning and so no uptake was happening (I could also have double hitched it but tape was easier at the time). Easy peasy. Definitely take the updated advice to NOT store the orifice hook on the machine at the magnets (as shown in the video) as mine did come flying off once and scared the --- out of me!

I really appreciate you showing us spinning on your bed! I didn't know if I would have to put it on something flat or not or how I could sit with it. And to see I don't have to have the fleece level with the orifice. I want to spin with my legs stretched out lengthwise on the sofa so now I know I can put it to the side of my legs or even on top with a flat surface under it. Really great review, thank you. You covered things others haven't said.

I have multiple spinning wheels. I have an Ashford traditional single treadle, a Louet S10, a Merlin Tree Hitchhiker and a Great wheel. Then I got the original EEW Mini from Dreaming Robots. That is what sold me on an electric wheel. I then purchased a slightly used Hansen e-spinner that came with a woolee winder! What a game changer. I highly recommend a woolee winder to anyone who can afford one! You will not be sorry you spent the money on one.

I'm in both camps, Ashford e-spinner for production spinning and traditional style wheel for spinning demos. The e-spinner travels in our camper most of the year round but I take a folding wheel if we are at a festival or off-grid mainly due to people relating to something that looks like a wheel :-)

I also do not see me having enough coordination to manage keeping hands and feet in sync to produce an even yarn. I have not gotten to do too much spinning (got sick right after getting it) but so far, I really like it! I look forward to producing some significant lengths of yarn soon. Thanks for the review.

I may only have 10 or 15 years left to knit and I want to knit all the things. 😊IF i got into it, this is probably the way I would go. Right now, I don’t care about looks or experience, right now. This is not a rhetorical question, but why spin?

I just finished a beginner spinning class, and I recommend everyone try spinning with a drop spindle. It's kind of magical when things come together and you have a greater appreciation for spinning as a whole. Plus...it connects us to our ancestors in a way that few other things can. If our stone-age ancestors can spin with a drop spindle, we should at least try!!!

One of my spiciest hottakes is that espinner isn't real spinning. Not compared to treadle wheel or spindle spinning. I own two EEWs and find them very pleasurable to use. I own one wheel, an Aura and a small collection of spindles in different kinds. But it's SO much easier. It is like the difference between hand quilting and machine quilting piecework quilts. It removes an entire part of the process.
