    From the beginning, the Sport Glide was a really great bike. It is so versatile, so confy, and so beautiful. You by 2 bikes in 1 (if you ride it fully loaded, or naked without bags/fairing) We love it and that's why we renewed them back in Nov 2021 to assure we had the 2021 model "brand new"...
    HD preferred to take advantage of the name "LOW RIDER S" to create the requested SportGlide everybody wanted, and they called it "LOW RIDER ST".... (but in my opinion, i prefer the FLSB)... we don't need dual front disk and we don't like the ST fairing, at all..... (personal opinion) 🤘😝🤘

    I’m all about options and I think some people won’t like the fairing on the Low Rider ST so give them the Sport Glide with a 114 and dual disk brakes. Great review brother ✌️🤘

      I prefer the not so damn long stroke of the 107. Did a stage 3 back in 2019 that made it a big bore short stroke 114. Today it would be a 119ci just swap out the 447 for the proper 498 cam. Or go hog wild and make it a 128ci.

  • @cascadesouthernmodeltrains7547

    I fell in love with this bike when I first came across it on the HD website. I went to my local dealer to check it out… and it was underwhelming. The proportions were just a bit off on it. A slightly larger bag, and maybe a more stylish fearing would have finished it off perfectly. I did love the wheels, those are awesome and I would love to have them on my Heritage… if they would fit but they won’t… I don’t thing the dual disk brakes would matter, the single is pretty good, and the second disk could take away from the best styling feature. The thing that would have earned my money would have been the 114. I opted to go with a Heritage Classic 114 instead of the Sport Glide.

    I had a 2021 Sport Glide, loved that bike, I put 12K miles on it in the year and a half I had it. Unfortunately I had to sell it for financial reasons. Finally got to get another bike last year, since the Sport Glide wasn't available anymore, I bought a Heritage with the 114. I'm blown away by how much more comfortable the Heritage is, when I owned the Sport Glide I thought it was the best Softail. I miss the Sport Glide wheels, I loved those. If they would have made a Sport glide with the longer shock in the rear like the Heritage, the 114 engine, and a taller windshield, that would have been the perfect Softail.

  • @charlesmansell6348

    having not rode the Sport Glide I can only comment an opinion. I love the looks of the Sport Glide and think a bigger motor would have helped however by the numbers, if a 21 Sport Glide is near 18k in comparison a 22 Low rider S is 18.5k with a 117 in it, for the difference in price I doubt HD would do a bigger motor on the Sport Glide while keeping the price comparable enough to Low Rider S

    A dual disc brake in the front would the fancy wheel from both sides. It doesn't really matter what a wheel looks like if you can't ever see it anyway. Just look at the rear. There's a drive pulley on one side and a brake disc with caliper on the other. You can't really see the wheel at all so it's pretty much irrelevant what it looks like. My Sportster has a single left disc front with a 21" laced spoked wheel and it looks very nice from the right side. The rear 16" wheel is a solid aluminum rim but it's practically invisible from both sides which is why I never upgraded it to a spoked or machined-mag or anything else.

    I only have 2 gripes about my Sport Glide. #1, The kickstand is almost an afterthought. #2, The front fender is way too short. It lets everything the front tire runs over to make a beeline for the oil cooler. I'm cool with the 107 even though it probably would sell better with a 114 or 117. I think the brakes are fine but, since this is a high speed canyon carver (or not) I'm sure many would rather have the additional disc. Thanks.

    I own a 2021 Sport Glide and it really should be named "Sport Tourer' !!! Brilliant bike that tours and does sport (for a Harley). Comfy, good on fuel and the fairing is way better than a Street Glide as you don't get the dreadful buffeting still evident on the 2022 model ( I know, I borrowed one from Twin Cities HD in Albury and it made me feel sea sick) Despite what others have written here, it doesn't need a second front disc. Single works fine once it beds in and that doesn't take long.

    I'll admit to being old and a bit old school- when I seriously started looking last year the Sport Glide kind of flew under the radar ... the Heritage Softail is more my style as is the '21 FLHR Road King I eventually wound up with. My loss for not at least having checked the Sport Glide out. No doubt the Sport Glide will cross my mind while pulling a bag to adjust the preload (the Sport Glide's setup is sweet!) and shelling out some greenbacks to get a USB port of some sort installed- the Road King has none.

    I test rode the SG and was surprised at the handing and braking power. Adding a dual disc would slow the turnin but you would gain breaking power. I personally don’t think that is worth the trade off. Now, I didn’t do a 80 mph stop, but the braking power was impressive. I think they missed with only offering the 107. 114 would have turned more heads towards it.

    • @andrewkitchenuk
      @andrewkitchenuk Рік тому +1

      @espeed3498 Рік тому +2

      I totally agree. Now that I’ve got 1,000 miles on my sport glide, I really do like it. It handles well, stops well enough, and my only true grip is I really want the suspension to be more adjustable. I think the preload is to soft, and rebound it too slow. The ABS is sensitive, and with that, you need the front wheel to be planted over bumps. This is by far a bigger miss over the 107 or dual discs. With all that, it’s still an amazing bike and the right Harley for me.

    Here in Brazil they are no longer available too.
    I think this model is one of the most interesting bikes that Harley released recently and I feel a little sad that it had not a longer life.
    I don't know why Harley keeps launching convertible bikes since the 80ies (let's remember the legendary FXRT) but does not keep making them for much more than about 3, or so, years.
    Motorcycles with, let's say, "flexible personalities", in my humble opinion, are something like a "Bike Graal" and should be seen in a much more serious way by Harley.

    Late to the party here but I have a 2020 sport glide and what I think would help them sell more in the USA is to #1 make all the lights LED secondly some higher handlebars as at 5'7" I still get pain in my shoulders with the stock bars. I'm in the process of buying a 2019 sportglide, i think if they had dual front breaks and 114 engine they would have been more popular, however it's nice that if you own one now, you have a unicorn, a rare bike that you don't see that often, it stands out, it's different, and has a lot off features that came standard that other bikes you would have had to buy separately. I hope all goes well so I can ride mine home on Tuesday. A wonderful riders bike, feels light and sure footed. You failed to mention that from 2021 you have an extra oxygen sensor after the catalyst in the muffler. Makes the Stage 1 modification pretty near impossible at the moment. V&H and S&S and most reputable exhaust manufacturers do not have Euro 5 compliant equipment .

    I’ve put about 13,000 miles on my 2021 Sport Glide and my biggest complaint is the unique rear exhaust pipe routing combined with the forward foot controls puts a lot of heat on your right ankle and calf. Didn’t notice when riding dressed for cold weather but in 80-90 degrees wearing just jeans it can really burn your right calf, even with 12” high boots. At first I thought it was heat off the engine, but realized it never happened on the left side. I’ve never seen this mentioned in any review of the sport glide. An aftermarket exhaust system is the only solution, just have to decide if I want to wait until the warranty expires.

    The big difference is riding position. Forward controls pull back bars relaxed cruiser riding position two up seat with the Sport Glide.
    Mid controls forward riding position dirt bike like bars single & higher seat height for canyon carving wheelies etc on LRST
    Two different markets so to speak. Also The Sport Glide really appealed to women trading up from a Sporty but not wanting the heft of a full on bagger and the low sit in it not on it 26” seat.
    Harley should bring it back to the states in two versions. One like it is chrome same bars etc only with narrower seat for women riders & boards like the slim. Then a club style version; blacked out motor pipes & trim with Harley’s T-bars solo seat with optional passenger pillon & clete pegs. Maybe the longer rear shock for increased available lean angle.
    Keep the better short stroke of the 107 only upgrade the jugs to make it a 119ci. This time promote it. The number one comment from other Harley riders; cool, what is it. Oh and add some real windshield options and naturally a dual front disk. Build it promote it and they will sell.

    I love my 2019 Sport Glide. The handling and light weight are the things I like most about this bike.
    My only criticisms - They should have put a second dic brake on the front wheel. My understanding is that the design people won out over the engineers so as not to cover up the Mantis wheel. Big mistake. Having owned this bike for 3 years now I will say that the brakes are "adequate". My one other criticism is that the front fender is absolutely useless as an actual fender in the rain. Its way too short. Again, I believe the design people won out for the sole purpose of aesthetics/looks. I sort of get that I guess🤔 Still useless though. I was coming off a Twin Cam before this and the stock 107 M8 has plenty of power and is great in this bike - being 200 lbs lighter than the SG/RG baggers is a HUGE difference helping performance. I did end up doing the Stage 2, but it certainly doesn't "need" it from a power perspective (I wanted the sound). I love this bike and its a keeper for me. Very versatile without all the short comings of a usual "multi-purpose" bike.

    My biggest issues with the Sport Glide are no 114 option, and I know I’m in the minority here, no mid-controls. My opinion, there is nothing very sporty about forward controls. Dual front disc with a better suspension and that bike would be ready to be a true performance machine. Different strokes for different folks, but now it seems the Lowrider ST is taking the place of this bike with pretty much most of what I just described.

    • @RidingintheOzarks

      True and I am sure the ST has been in development for a few years so that is probably why the Sport Glide did not get these upgrades. 114 would have been nice but not a deal breaker to me. Suspension should have got the bigger shock from the heritage at least but I guess they only feel that is for bikes that are more likely to run 2up. Thanks for watching and supporting the channel!

      The basic bike retails at just under £17000 in the UK “on the road” ( I don’t understand why prices in the USA aren’t displayed the same) what you see on the ticket is what you pay generally with no added extras . The bike in the UK is reasonably popular due to it being good value for money the heritage and the low rider st are £4000 to £5000 more and it’s low seat height and weight is attractive to shorter riders and women. Personally of the softails it would be my choice the only downside of the bike are the colour schemes two blacks a grey and a beige(sand) which are pretty uninspired I would love to see the bike in the same red or blue that the streetbob comes in.

    For that price point they didn’t need the two identical platforms with just a different front fairing and one more front brake disc. They price point being only $2,000 different makes these bikes in the same pricing categories. The sports glide needs to start at $15,000 or lower to make an impact on purchasing. I would love this bike for my daily commute but the price point is too high. This bike realistically is the entry level bagger with the low rider ST being the step up and so on. The pricing difference is too close. For the starting price of $18,599 why not just upgrade to a road or street glide? The price difference is only $3,000.

    • @RidingintheOzarks

      Some people absolutely do not want a street glide or road glide they want something lighter and smaller. My girlfriend is a prime example no matter what the price point is she doesn’t want a full-size bagger. I have no doubt that she could ride one but she doesn’t find them comfortable and doesn’t want one but she loves the sport life and we’ve set it up to be pretty capable for touring for her. Could she have put forward controls on a Lowrider?Absolutely for an additional cost and she would pay more for the bigger engine that she doesn’t care about. I get the point of them being to close together but an entry level softail bagger that is less performance oriented is still a great option for some people. Thanks for watching and commenting.

I recently traded my 2020 RGL for a Triumph Tiger 900 but I have found this bike to be too plain vanilla for my tastes and I want to get back onto another HD.
