You’ve nailed it again Bruce! You completely described the experience of owning/riding a Harley. When I bought mine, my riding buddies all advised not to, saying it wouldn’t do what I wanted it to do because I am a fairly aggressive rider.... but it does just as you described, it makes you just chill and enjoy. Until you are ready to get things more aggressive, and while it’s no sport tourer, it’ll still leave you smiling, surprisingly, when you hustle it. I do agree, as you’ve said previously, that Harley’s are better with another bike next to it, but I don’t see giving mine up anytime soon. They are more diverse/enjoyable than people give them credit for, and definitely has a place in my garage. 🍻
Excellent review, I’m totally with you on the Harley experience. I’m an Africa Twin rider in my early sixties. Last weekend I had an American friend over and we hired two HDs for a three day ride through Exmoor and Dartmoor . My first time out on a HD and I had all the preconceptions and prejudices that so many people share but… I was amazed by how excellent the machine was. It’s smooth, it;’s comfortable, it handles, and the engine is just magnificent.
Yesterday I revisited the Harley dealer to get a quote on trading my Africa Twin for a Streetglide, I’m hoping to get the deal done before the worst of the winter weather hits.
Great review. After 35 years on bikes, I am just considering my first Harley and the Sport Glide is on the list. Almost bought a 1200 Sportster back in 2005, but in the end I went for a Triumph Speedmaster (865). Haven't really paid much attention to Harley since then, but am interested now.
I own a 2019 Sport Glide and it’s been the best decision I’ve made!
Done 5000 miles on mine stage 1 tuned heavy breather 12" bars makes it a different machine footboards give it more lean angle i don't scrape as much now really shifts when pushed i love it owned plenty of bikes even a busa but 60 years old won't be changing it keep them vids coming great channel
Good to see you testing Harleys.
Fun to see a different kind of bike on the tube, looks like a nice ride even though i am not a HD guy. Thanks for sharing and keep em coming!
Harley's aren't my cup of tea, but each to their own I say. Most of the stigma with Hog's, like Beemers, comes from the stereo types. Not all owners are equal - I have followed some talented Hog riders who can make these things fly in complete safety and know their stuff. A nice refreshing change bud!! Keep 'em coming!!
Really great review video! Great content! Keep up the good work!
Tested the same bike with a Street Glide a few weeks ago, waiting for delivery of new Sport Glide loved it...thanks Bruce 👍
I must be getting old. Quite like it!
Good work.
Happy travels
I got the snake venom colour in March , not got out as much as i would like on her but love it when i do and you are right it does attract attention . Bus driver hung out the window at a junction just drooling over the sound . Had a Cobra Pipe fitted sounds even better .
Great review. This bike ticks all the boxes for me.Ideal for weekends away, and you can strip the panniers and fairing and turn it into a completely different animal for just having fun cruising.I’ve added S+S exhaust and air cleaner as well as torque cam which gives that Harley sound and extra torque.Only downside is the single disc on front, but it’s not a sport bike.Highly recommend the Sportglide and Guildford Harley-Davidson.
Great review and pretty spot on in regards to the bike. Love my Sport Glide. Why pick it over other soft tails... ABS - standard, cruise control - standard, forward controls - standard, skies for miles - standard. Ability to easily use the bike for a long weekend get away with the bags and fairing and or strip them off in less than 5 minutes and have an awesome around town bar hopper. The bike has a fantastic centre of gravity which makes the bike feel quite a bit lighter than it is. Easy to flick through the corners and handles very well when ordering a $1.30 fish and chip special when needing to get somewhere quickly. ;o).
Yes the smaller single front brake can be a bit soft, but learning how to bring in a bit of back brake at the right time really helps and also keeps from causing the front end to hard drop forward as you come to a stop which helps with keeping a balanced stop.
I have made a few mod's to mine and will make one or two more, but over all even stock the bike is great and I have no complaints with it. In fact I never intended to get a Harley until I discover the Sport Glide and after watching numerous reviews and taking one for a test ride, I was sold.
If I had the money to have a garage full of bikes, then I think I would have one, but I haven’t .Enjoyed the video
Never ridden a H-D but would love to, cheers Bruce and more great content👍
OK, so I was singing out "nationals" when instructed to do so... and got a weird look from the missus. Good vid, keep 'em keeping Bruce.
Ha Ha brilliant... my work here is done 😂👍
Lol😆made me chuckle 😄😄
Try the Slim. I love the softail Slim. You can customize it for both cruising and touring to fit your needs
Yeah man I think you'd like all of the motorcycles in the new Softail range everyone that rides them raves about the suspension and the handling and how the power and smoothness is delivered I'm really glad you liked it It's on my short list but now I've got to focus on the new ADV bike
Just to say, enjoyed your appraisal of the Harley, I love Harleys although I now ride an R1250 GS, love this as well, brakes on a Harley have never been very good, the take is you ride a Harley nice and steady, they will get on but one’s life is in jeopardy so we ride to the capability of the brakes and enjoy, cheers Bruce stay safe.
Just sold my HD SportGlide. Agree with what you said, nice easy bike to ride but after 2 winters was showing a few signs of wear and quality issues on some finishes. Hopefully they have sorted this for the 21MY. Enjoyed my time with it.
OK so I am sitting in my living room shouting Nationals ! And laughing like an idiot my missus thinks iv lost the plot. Great video keep em coming 👍
What does nationals mean?
@@my.motorrad National speed limit: 60 miles per hour (100 kph) except on motorways and dual carriageways where it’s 70 mph.
Mega review as usual! Bud, you just keep outdoing yourself. Respect pal 🆒🎥💯🔝
Awesome, thanks very much bud 🙏👍
I have to say it's "catching" voice overs on these bike reviews as Mr Fish seemed to have the same mic problems with his very good NC750 review ( i quite like the voice over at the beginning )
Excellent review , with any bike choosing a route because of road conditions is high on my list but i imagine you have to be "extra" choosy with certain types of bike .
Best regards
I rode that bike at Guildford Harley Davidson a few weeks back and really enjoyed it!
The only thing I didn’t like much was the £17,000 price tag! 🙄
Agreed they're just far too expensive.
There are no expensive bikes, just poor people. 😑
I've had one for 3 1/2 years now, great bike, I have two Harleys but his is probably my favorite Harley so far, the brakes are enough on this bike, yeah I agree it can feel a bit spongy when you come to the end of braking, only complaints I have is the rattle from the petrol cap and the misting up speedo, but these are common problems on all bikes, and keep them clean because Harleys like to rust if not kept clean, mind you most brands are the same.
Sport glide is super!!!
I'm thinking of taking one. Because I can take it with the A2 version and also because of the look itself.
Enjoyed that Bruce 👍looks a really nice bike👍
Great watch as always even though the bike isn’t for me.. Thanks Bruce 👊🏻✊🏻🤟🏻
Nice one Bruce, as always. While you're running through the HD fleet it'd be great to see the Pan-Am once available, especially with your GS background. I'd also love to see you on a trike if at all possible, just for my own amusement :D
Ha Ha I’m not sure if I can get hold of a trike, but I’ve got the Pan-Am very soon 😉
@@teapotone Keep em peeled, it'd be a right laugh haha. Look forward to the Pan though, been hearing surprisingly decent reviews for it.
That is why I like the Low Rider S over the Sport Glide, it comes with dual front calipers.
The quality of your videos improve with every upload :) nice job Bruce!
Thanks very much bud 🙏👍
Great review 🏍💨👏🏻👏🏻
I have one and think they look great, remember they have cruise control
Really enjoyed your review mate! I’m on the fence between this and a Low Rider S, don’t have the cash for the ST 😢. I felt super relaxed on the Spot Glide, I wanted to go fast every where on the Low Rider S haha. Really hard to decide, the Glide has everything ready to go, power is just 2 stages away. The Low Rider will cost a bit to get comfortable and touring capable. Lean towards the Sport Glide. Any advice? Thanks from Australia 🇦🇺
A typical south of England calimoto route that, but sometimes you have to take them to get to the good roads.
Good review. Thanks
Another great review. Harleys just don't sound right without a full stage 1 kit. Always been tempted by the sport glide but read a few places that the brakes and suspension can't handle 2up riding very well.
I reckon the single calliper would struggle 2-up yes 👍
Ya I have a sport glide and I immediately put an Arlen ness intake and Vance Hines exhaust on it. It really makes the bike the beast it’s supposed to be,
2 up riding is no problem, stopping is no problem, rapid acceleration is no problem. Did put a more comfortable seat on to keep mama happy. 😊
I've test ridden the Sport Glide. It's as pleasant to ride as it is to look at. It had plenty of power (loads of low end torque), and it handles small curvy roads as well as it handles long highway cruises. Only complaint: it takes some practice to find neutral consistently.
There are nice to cruise around and listen to tunes. You need to try a bigger one with a radio. 😎👍( maybe an INDAIN someday)
Hi, I bought a new Sport Glide and traded in my lovely Fatboy. I Took her to France to pick up my Girlfriend at Paris. I lost the girlfriend, clumsy of me. I took the girl to the top of the Eiffel Tower. After a glass of Champagne and a rock on the finger she left as my future wife. The Harley took us through France, romance was perfect. This bike is absolutely wonderful. Very responsive handling, loads of power and the braking is amazing. All loaded, we were about Kg 500+ and I did need to pull to stop. No problem, ABS perfect and handles so well. Add the touring panniers and a rack, you have a really good touring bike. Easy cruising at 130Kph. I went to a bike meeting with 15000 bikes. Live life.
Awesome bud cheers 👍🏻
Good one it's what it is a relaxed ride cruiser ya don't have one of these ta go full chat into twisty's I like em never had one but would never say no maybe as a second toy they have their own sound to ya can always tell when it s a Harley . nice one Bruce : )
Best on a Harley to use both brakes as the back one is quite powerful and as the weight is more over the back, stops you better using both.
Nice one, cheers for the tip bud 👍
Fantastic review!
First, Bosh :) i like and need to ride a Forty Eight its not the best one but i like em :) Ridden the iron883 with forward controls felt very alien but great .
Aye I’d like to try the 48 too, Harley have stopped making them now sadly
You definitely need to test ride a Fat Bob, with the 114 engine and a much better gearbox than the rest of the Softail line.
Hopefully they’ll put out a CVO version with the 114 motor. The 107 is a dog with fleas IMO! But nice video as usual mate..
Why do you think the 107 is a dog with fleas and how will an extra ~ 150cc of the 114 fix it? Do you own a 107?
@@occyman ride them both and you’ll know what I mean.
@@beozzie690 I’ve owned a 2019 Sport Glide (107) for 18mths and 20,000kms and now own a 114 Fat Bob...very little difference and in fact the 107 spins up faster than the 114 and I ride pretty hard. You still don’t explain why you call the 107 a dog?
How was the turbulence with that screen and the helmut with the peak ....greetings from Oz
Hello bud, how’s it going?
Genuinely, I’ve never felt any turbulence due to the leaked lid, it’s just never been an issue for me personally.
I didn’t notice any excessive turbulence on this bike over what I’d expect to on a ‘naked’ style bike, it was a lot of fun 👍
I wonder if Revelator Alf has seen this? :)
Probably he’s a legend ! 😎
@@Mikethebike1959 Really? I wouldn’t have known from this side of the pond.
For those of us from the States, I have to ask: What is "Nationals"? I assume from context it has something to do with the speed limit.
Yes bud, it means the speed limit is the maximum allowed on Uk roads, either 60mph or 70mph depending on road structure 👍
I'm looking at trading in my 2021 Tiger 1200 Alpine for one of these. I've had 2 harleys in the past, and everytime I sell one, I swear I won't get another one. But here I am looking again 😆
would it be a good bike to start on? or is it totally not a beginner bike? Thank you.
I wouldn’t suggest you start on this bike - it doesn’t corner or handle like most ‘usual’ bikes so you would learn habits which would not bode well if you ever rode a traditional style of bike afterwards.
Not only that but the insurance would be sky high on a 1.8 engine for a new rider
I contemplated the Sport Glide last year when I was looking to replace my Street Triple, I should have spoken to Guildford HD, as Hastings HD didn't seem interested in making a sale. Ended up with another Moto Guzzi instead :-)
It’s weird that, I’ve had a lot of people say they’ve found Harley dealerships very off-putting and not welcoming, but Guildford couldn’t be more opposite for me 🤷♂️👍
@@teapotone I had a demo of the HD 48 around 10 years back from Guildford HD, and they couldn't do enough for me, really awesome guys, I guess Hastings HD were either having an off week, or all had covid or somit.
Im a bit like you & had very little interest in Harleys but I think I'm getting to that age thing where I'm ready for something I little more sensible & laid-back so considering the softtail slim or this sports glide. The roads conditions & amount of traffic is getting worse, not to mention all the speed limits so my gorgeous Ducati street fighter V4s has to go :-( Enjoyed the vid so thank you.
Cheers Paul, glad you enjoyed it bud 👍
Not a fan of Hogs.. but that looks sweet..... engine sounds great....calling "nationals!!" stage 3 / 4 tuning and that would be one sweet ride.. def the fat geezer!!! PMSL could not stop laughing when I heard you say that..... I say the same thing when I am riding mine.... great vid and review.. Thanks Brucey
At 1:25 the on screen message should read A2 Compliant - he missed out the 'l'.
Apologies 👍
Are they fully floating back teeth? I remember going on tour once in rainy conditions and I needed a pee bad. I found a nice spot and went behind a tree awaiting the glorious feeling of relief, only to remember that I had three layers of zips to get through first! ARGH!!!! NOOoooooooooo....... made it. Just.
Ha Ha, yep I’ve been there! 😬😂👍
I always think my next bike will be a Harley. Then I get something else. There has always been something better. Maybe one day. But probably not.
Did you ever test ride the Deluxe?
Nice video teapot. I noticed that you appear to keep it in around third gear and never shift up or down. I kept waiting for you to shift gears; was your previous bike an automatic? Just wondering. Keep the videos coming, I enjoyed it. Thanks 😊
🤓😎🏍💨💨💨💨💨👍🏻🇨🇦 they just make you smile.
i don't understand why they don't put some decent brakes on them something so big and heavy needs 2 discs.
Hi! I’m looking to buy a Harley Davidson, to be more precise, I’m looking into buying a softail, I have an A2 license and so far I don’t know why... 1 harley dealership said that the 107 engines can’t be restricted, the law and the specs say yes, a few companies specialized in doing A2 restrictor kits have said to me that all the 107 M8 engines can be restricted but they did not produce the kits because of the low demand... but they also said that harley should have an option in their software to restrict the bike to 35 kw tuning the ECU, can anyone help me out with this with any info?
James drop Guildford Harley Davidson a line and ask them bud, they’ll keep you right 👍
@@teapotone I will man! Thank you! Also, I’m subscribed, I enjoyed a lot a few of your videos! Keep the hard work
Why doesn't anyone pick up that the indicators dont sit centrally? Is it a design fault or handle bars not centralized? No engineer would design a machine where indicators dont sit equally beside the fairing?
Can you get a second disc brake set up as a HD option?
No but you could opt for the Low Rider S which has twin discs - same frame with more power.
Do you think that someone with 197cm (6.6) can comfortably sit on it.
It would be slightly more cramped but can’t see why not - I’m 6’3” and was perfectly comfortable on it 👍
WTF were the designers on deciding on that spoke pattern for the visible front wheel?
I need your clothes, your boots and your motorcycle 😎
I’ll be back.
TeapotOne 👍! Calimoto 👍! Sport Glide??? It's a Road King with accessories, this bike doesn't need to exist! Just get a ROAD KING!
The point of it is that it turns into a real cool cruiser without the bags and fairing in under 1 minute.Great to have the option of both with such ease.
Apart from the big engine why are Harleys so heavy?
At that price you could get two far superior bikes, I am not against Harleys at all, but am old with a limited budget. Reliability and economy are my first consideration, so will stick for now with the good old Honda CB500X. Perfect for year round use on our wee roads in the West of Scotland.
"unsuitable for wide vehicles... Shut Up." LOL
Bruce finally test rides a sofa
I have one .....I love her ......but I have never managed to get 19 litres of fuel in that tank......ever.....it's a bare faced lie by Harley
Horrid feeling not being able the see the road (and vanishing points) thanks to front camera position. Otherwise great review, cheers.
How is it possible to get such little power from such a large engine🤷♂️
A >300kg bike should ALWAYS have dual and effective calipers up front. On safety grounds alone, a bike not to be recommended.
HD, why did you spoil the ship for a ha'p'orth of tar?
It’s not a sporty Ecectra/street glide.....
It’s a Softail with quickly detachable front fairing & Bags.
Completely different bike to the big bag cruisers
Only 83hp on 1750cc? Typical Harley
It's all about the torque.
@@sparkykevboss stole my thunder.... amazing how many don’t know that
Sure, it's easy to ride because you don't want to push it past, what 60-70 miles/h? One wonders why it's called "Sport", why not "Super Sport" now that they are at it? I am sorry, but I think it looks and handles like something from long, long ago. And at that price they don't even give you two calipers up front on a 300 kg bike, it's a disgrace.
You're on the wrong side of the road!
Camera spoiling the view
Bike for a different generation in another country. Not a fan.
