Someone posted on Facebook today that this was their favorite hat pattern so I purchased it as I have a lot of Hometown yarn from a recent sale. Then, I saw that you have a video for it as well and you are great with showing how to crochet it! I’m going to try it now ❤️
2 years later, and lots of great patterns out there, but this one is still my all time favorite of all time to make. I learned something just now from another video that is soo going to be a game changer for me! I never have bulky yarn, so my texture doesnt show up as much, but I saw how to use ONE skein of acrylic Worsted weight regular acrylic yarn to work up 3 strands. My mind was blown! It may not be a new technique to the crochet community, but it is for me, and maybe others. Not sure if I can say who taught it, but there are many pumpkin patterns out there that have this technique. I can not wait to see how this beautiful hat will be using that method! I believe I'm on your FB, I will post it up tomorrow or this weekend. Bed time now for early work in the morning. I'm beyond excited and just had to share with you :) Thank you again for such a beautiful hat!
Thank you for you kind comment and your tip! I have heard of this trick, but I had forgotten about it. I would love to see your finished work when you're done trying it out!
I have been looking for this hat for years! I made it...your video and instructions were so good! Thank you...l bet the second one will even be better...I’m smelling birthday presents here, even my husband thinks its great! Love it! 👍❤️🥰👏👏👏👏😁
God bless your mind. This is the most amazing project I’ve ever come across in a very long time. I will follow all of your projects moving forward. Thank you 🙏.🥰
Wow I crochet for the grade school kids here in my little town and am always looking for different patterns. I will be make several of these. Thanks for taking the time to teach us!!!
You are an amazing teacher, I love this pattern and the way you explain, you make everything so easy going, I definitely going to make this hat, it is just beautiful. Thank you so much and please make more videos.
I think I’ve made all of your hat patterns but this is my favorite! I put a “fur” yarn trim around the brim and made the Pom Pom out of the fur yarn. I love it and it’s easily converted to any weight yarn. Thanks so much for sharing this pattern! I’m seriously pondering how to make a cardigan sweater using it. You are a genius!
Thank for sharing your pattern & the tutorial. I love each segment & it looked complicated but after watching your tutorial I know I’m able to tackle this project- much appreciation!!!
Such a lovely pattern! It’s easily adaptable as well. I prefer a more fitted look on the crown, so I make it in a round, working up from a slip stitch brim and ending with HDC decreases at the top. I also used worsted weight yarn and it turned out amazing. Thank you for this wonderful alternating stitch pattern!
I'm so glad you like it! I agree, I've started doing a few rounds of sc decrease when I make a super bulky weight version. I would love to see it in worsted weight! Please tag me at dayscrochetnc if you decide to share☺️🙏🏻
@@DaysCrochet I would, but I realized afterwards that I neglected to turn my work after the mock bobble rounds, so I essentially ended up with a reversible beanie! One side knit look, the other bobbles haha. When I make it again correctly, I’ll tag you 😁
@@TeriDean I'm so intrigued! I wish I could see it because I can't picture how you could not not turn on this particular hat. Maybe you're referring to my Baelynn Beanie?
Wow! I have 20 plus skeins of this exact yarn (Hometown) as it was on clearance for $1 or $2 at Walmart. I used a little of it, including some on a hat for my son. The hat came out huge, so I was discouraged and packed it away (not your pattern). This will give me a beautiful hat and maybe gifts for my family for next Christmas! Thanks!
I love the pattern, and I so appreciate your attention to detail. Your explanation of each row, each stitch, is just fantastic! Lastly, big thanks for showing your tutorial with a light-colored yarn! Can't wait to make this hat, it'll be a great gift.
Thank you for making this video. Your instructions are very clear and easy to follow. I appreciate the time you took to ensure I could follow along love your instructions and tips hat is unique and stunning . Stay safe Merry Christmas
Mine turned out really great. Easy to do, and great instructions! Beautiful texture. I feel like the brim made the edge a bit tight so I would try to loosen it up next time.
Excellent video! Beautiful hat! I look forward to making one soon. Just a quick note...it's not the brim of the hat. It's the band. If you look up the definition of the brim of a hat, it's the horizontal part, like on a cowboy hat. It's the flat circle that keeps the sun out of your eyes. The band is what goes AROUND the head, like a headBAND.
I'm making this hat for a gift for man. My question is the dimensions are the same (i.e., 7" starting chain, 18 stitches) even though I am using a #6 super bulky yarn and a size 9mm hook and a 7mm hook for the brim?
I really enjoyed your pattern for the macrame like plant holder. Do you have a crochet macrame like pattern for a rear view mirror plant hanger that will hold a little succulent (fake)?
Thank you! Yes, my Macrochet Mini Planter can be turned into a hanging car charm. I tell you the adjustments I made to make it in my blog, sorta at the bottom of the post. daysck.com/crochet-for-days/easy-crochet-mini-planter
Cute hat with good instruction & I'm getting ready to follow along! However... I'm a wee confused. You said & closed captions confirmed, you used "an L, 11mm hook" but it looks(?) (tiny phone screen) as though the hook is an *L, 8mm* and that's what the label calls for also. I presume it was just a slip of the tongue? :)
I really like this pattern and you explain it so well. If I wanted to make it without the Pom Pom would I need to do anything different closing the hat ?
Thank you! It would be up to you if you wanted to change the look of the top portion. If you didn’t like the closure, I would ad a round or two of sc decreases along the top. Are you familiar with what I’m talking about?
Since the entire thing is made up of 4 repeating rows and according to measurements, I would probably start off by getting thinner yarn and a smaller hook so that it doesn’t look too bulky on a baby’s head. Then you will need to look up measurements for standard hat sizes (or just measure your baby’s head circumference and from crown to ear) and make the rectangle according to those measurements. The crown to ear measurement will be what you need to make your foundation chain. Then make the panel until it measures the circumference.
When you first start out you had said chain in multiples of 2, your video was too quick so I wasn't sure what you meant, can you please explain, sorry I'm a beginner 😊
Thank you for an easy, well explained tutorial. I really like that you do not talk too much while teaching the pattern
This is a beautiful hat and a great training video, I’ve never made a hat made in this way, thanks for sharing a beautiful hat
Thank you❤️ I'm so glad you enjoyed the tutorial ☺️
It turned out beautifully. I really like reverse SC around the brim.

L11 isn't an 11mm hook. It's an 8mm hook! (when she refers to the slouchy version of the hat).
Yes, sorry. Several people have already corrected me. I’m human after all🙃

Hello, love this video. One question is the stitch count 17 for each row.
I don’t believe so. It needs to be a multiple of 2
I love this hat! Can't wait to try it! Where do you get the pompoms?
Amazon! It should be linked in the description box but if not, let me know and I’ll get you the link
Michael's has many different colored pm pm each $1.99
Real fur and fake fur

L is # 11 but is 8mm
Nice !! ❤️🔥
Thank you!
It is quite short hat more like a cap?
I instructed you to go by measurements. It can literately be any size you like...
How would I turn this into a 3month old size?
Where did you get the leather accent piece?
All This Wood on Etsy
Can you make this by starting with a fhdc?
I think so. I’ve not tried it but I can’t think of why not
Can you make a scarf out of this pattern?
I don’t see why not! You’ may want to do it in rows the full length of the scarf, but you could realistically do it the width of the scarf as well.
At what point did you switch hook size?
At minute 17:15 to make the band at the bottom.
When you first start out you had said chain in multiples of 2, your video was too quick so I wasn't sure what you meant, can you please explain, sorry I'm a beginner 😊
Make your beginning chain in a multiple of 2
Until it measures what I specify there in the video
I'm sorry sweetheart, do you mean sc? I'm not sure what multiples of 2 means
@@_-Sweets-_ not sc, no. The foundation chain needs to be in a multiple of 2; so divisible by 2. 2,4,6,8,10,12, etc
