Guyver is a deconstruction of the Tokusatsu genre like Power Rangers and Kamen Rider with Resident Evil-level Biopunk themes with a dash of existential crisis.

I have heard a theory that at least one of the Gundam universes is the same universe as Ideon, with the newtype powers being given to humanity to try to make them stop fighting after all of humanity was reset in Ideon.

Could have been somewhat realistic if the planet halves were blown apart from each other, but if it was simply cut slowly like shown here, it'd be more realistic if the halves just smacked, together patching up the cut but with massive earthquakes and multiple cracks throughout the planet, with there also being lava bursting out of it. The planet would ultimately turn into globe of molten rock by the end of it, although it realistically would be a kinda slow process.

Physically, it doesn't make sense. Because of gravity, the two half of planet will not be torn apart. They will merge again instead, because of gravity.

Um… Tomino’s work directly prior to this basically deconstructed the entire Mecha genre, and in doing so created the Real Robots subgenre.
