Leiji Matsumoto was truly one of a kind, never got enough respect for his works but to me he will forever be the master of Space Opera and tragic anime or manga, "The Cockpit", "Space Battleship Yamato", "Uchu Kaizoku Captain Harlock"... those will never leave my soul. Fun fact, this entire scene was basically one big whoopsie on tomino's part. He had never actually watched G, Wing, or X so he was just under the impression that they were apart of UC so they just got some footage of those shows and added it to this scene unaware that they were supposed to be disconnected from UC entirely which is why this scene basically makes 0 sense. Its why sunrise had to make an official timeline chart to clear up the confusion

He was in the newtype afterlife, La La she explained the story of how all the universe of the gundam is one time line, many 100.000 years apart.... La la showed amuro the turn a gundam. How it was design to wipe the world then start anew. Something like that. Amuro was able to see all the gundams with the help of la la. Amuro and Lalah sees the end of the Dark History and gets a vision of other universes (from Gundam Light of Life Chronicle UC)

Turn A being the ending for Gundam as a whole makes a lot of since for stuff like Wing, 00, IBO, even witch… but the idea that G somehow ties into Turn A is honestly just kinda hilarious considering how bonkers that show is. It’s like if Baki the grappler was somehow canon to say Star Wars

This whole still makes me cry after all these years. It was beautifully done the music was spot on. This and the scene when the Yamoto destroyed the Water Planet and water in space the she raises up out of the water trying to to stay afloat and you hear she lets out a Roar!!!! And she sinks back into the water

50代後半の自分は、宇宙戦艦ヤマトシリーズの完結は、現在でもこの『さらば～』が本当の完結だと思っていて、この後に出てくるヤマトシリーズは邪道に思えて一度も観ていないです。このシーンはいつ観ても泣けますね。

Even if you really couldn't fit every series, hell, even just the ones prior to 1999, into one continuity that ends with Turn A (electing to ignore Tomino for a bit here that G-Reco takes place after) thematically, it makes sense for Turn A to be the ultimate end of every series, even the ones made after 1999. So in light of that, if you had ONE scene from every animated series, ideally involving the final protag Gundam, to represent it in the Dark History, what would you pick?
