My take is, that as long as it's a legal job and you're doing it on your own will without being forced into it, then any job is okay to do. You might not want to advertise some jobs due to social repercussions, but you should also never be ashamed to do a job so you can be/stay financially independent - and people really shouldn't judge you for it.

I also didn't understand why he needed to wrap his head around it. First, it was just modeling - even if it resulted in some nude pictures - not being a porn star or sex worker. Second, it was in her past so didn't affect him at all. Also if he was so uncomfortable with her having nude pictures on her Instagram, he should have talked to her about it and even asked her to maybe take them down, he definitely shouldn't have drawn other people's attention to it.

The groom's side of the family visits bride's family to ask for their blessing, which is an ongoing tradition to this day. But back in the day in case of it being arranged, if bride made the coffee sweet that meant she likes the groom and is interested. If she made it salty that meant she isn't interested, to let him and also her family know through the groom's reaction. It’s sad, but it’s so common in immigrant families and communities because of the societal stigma here in America. So many people I know from immigrant families have their given names (and culture-based names) and then their “American”names. “My real name is X, but no one can pronounce it/spell it so you can call me Y.”

As a white woman with a different name. This is all 100% true. My name is Diamond and I got bullied all through school for it (being a stripper, etc). I’ve gone as far as to put a headshot and links to my linked in so that potential employers see me. It’s gone as far as since I marked “ caucasian” on a job application and my name is diamond, people have not hired me thinking it’s a “joke”. I’ve also had black friends change their ethnicity on resumes and said that the difference of interest is ASTOUNDING.

Why do white woman need to announce themselves as white ? What does that have anything to do with your story ? You could have just talked about your name being diamond and kept it pushing.
Also, the fact that you tried extremely hard to PROVE your whiteness is telling. Girl, please check your privilege, and since you can understand somewhat about what POC go through in terms of their names on resumes, maybe use your whiteness to uplift POC. Try to be a part of removing the name discrimination and hiring people based on their work experience. Please stop announcing that you are white, nobody cares.

The diamond drill bit story sounds to me like the OP’s partner is insecure about his boundary he set. I don’t think he fully believes that the OP or their friends/family are accepting of him never marrying her. And to compensate for his complicated feelings, he projected them onto her as a “joke.”
The problem to me seems he’s so blinded by his own feelings that he didn’t realize he humiliated her.

Story 1: As someone who used to be a teacher, I always had a fear of being confident and sexy for this reason. I decided that wasn't the life I wanted for myself, it wasn't good for my mental health. I now own a small coffee shop in Wisconsin, where I can wear what I want. Do I still have to be careful about what I say? Of course. But i'm not worried about posting pictures of myself in a bikini or swearing in a personal social media post now. It sound like this modeling gig was a great way to make money to make it through college (She could have done worse things) and it's such a shame that educators aren't allowed to live life outside of school. I'm so glad I left teaching behind me. And I can still teach art to the public at my shop and not stress about if i'm "following the state guidelines".

When i started donating plasma, it took almost an hour for the employees to figure out how to put me into the system because they have legal regulations to follow and my double middle name threw a wrench in that system.
When i legally changed my last name after marriage, i took that opportunity to get rid of the hyphen as well.

Story 1 - This is the type of man I’m scared of meeting. Whether he’s trying to cover truly malicious actions with needing to “vent” to his friends or he’s genuinely that clueless about what his actions could result in when he’s talking to a known gossip, he’s in the wrong and doesn’t seem to feel that bad about it. I honestly think he did it on purpose because it’s not at all uncommon for men to be deeply bothered by their partner’s sexual experiences/histories, while also expecting their partner to somehow magically be good at intimacy on pure instincts. On a different video that read this story, this grandpa (he mentioned his granddaughter for some reason or another in one of his many comments) said she was in the wrong and was abusing him financially. Which… you know 1. she isn’t, but 2. he put her in a position where she lost her source of income. That commenter was unhinged and basically made it all her fault.

Regardless of what people say, it is a very dangerous business, and a lot of really messed up things happen. Assault, trafficking, etc.
Maybe the cousin used to work as a stripper and something awful happened? I mean, I know a lot of people who hate that industry because it's exploitative and misogynistic. It's not too far-fetched for her to just really hate that scene and people that are a part of it. I think if you do something taboo, you should be able to accept that not everyone is going to support you.

The last story: the thing is even if she was the one pushing for no marriage it'd be f**ked up for him to randomly make a show of a statement that is basically "remember I'm never going to marry you." That's not just weird, it's going out of your way to make a spectacle of humiliating your partner. He made her the butt of the "joke" at her own birthday party, surrounded by her friends & family. By doing what he did he also made the whole thing about him rather than about her at her own celebration. She needs to leave him, this is not going to get better.

Story 2: nah her cousin was just being straight up judgmental and masking it as caring. Idc what type of experience she had with strip clubs. OP was suddenly JOBLESS and bills dont just stop. When you're in a situation like that where u need to make choices or you'll lose everything.... it isn't easy. That requires understanding and empathy. But cousin continued to push her negative feelings about strip clubs onto OP and make her feel guilty or less than. She straight up was like "yeah ur not gonna bring your work life into my kids lives" assuming the worst about OP and judging her even WHEN OP SAID SHE WOULD NEVER COMBINE WORK/PERSONAL LIFE??? Sure, cousin could actually care. BUT the way she's talking to OP about it doesn't show any care. Just "this bad. I don't like it. U bad. Me cut u off from daughters". If she cared that much, then maybe she could help hook OP w a more "acceptable" job in cousins eyes.
I had a friend who I thought cared about me and I could trust, but she just kept pushing her judgmental opinions onto my choices. Listening to this story's vibes matched my ex-friends judgmental vibes.

😂 my bestie says he was bitten by a butterfly as a child and absolutely hates them still! It's so funny to see a manly man run and scream when he sees butterflies 😂 I'm not a fan of ANY insects so I understand.

I love insects, but butterflies are just as dirty as flies; They love animal droppings just as much. 👍 I wonder what makes people afraid of certain things, besides a traumatic experience. I have a strong aversion to velvet. I don't want it in the same room as me, and I sure as hell will not touch it. Have no clue where it came from!
Side story: I was 'attacked' by a butterfly as a kid. It came out of nowhere, startled me, and I fell off the steps and cut my eyebrow open.

A few things on the teacher one:
    - the pics were both bikini pics and nudes so I am guessing the issue was more the nudes…
    - the writer said that she did this prior so she isn’t currently posing so I would be asking if they can punish her for a past job?

As a teacher, there’s a huge need to be very careful about what you post. My students can find ANYTHING if I’ve posted it. Before I applied to the district I got a job in I double checked every form of social media I’ve ever had. Was that bikini pic too much? The picture my friend posted of me in a crop top too risqué? All gone. The expectations we hold teachers to are extremely unfair and too much considering what we’re paid. I do think the district I teach in would have a major issue with those photos if there was a chance the kids or parents could find it.

As a teacher it's directly in our school board policy, which I have to agree to when I sign my contract, that what we do outside of school is still impacting our job. Especially if we are "representing the school" by wearing anything school related or at any school related events. There's a huge list of "unprofessional behavior" that can lead to disciplinary action.
I don't agree with the decision in the first story. I think the OP should have been fine and her modeling in the past shouldn't be held against her at all, but sadly I'm not surprised. It sounds like she knew it would get her in trouble as well, which is why she stopped and tried to hide it.

@@TwoHotTakes I think there's a line with this stuff. I WANT companies to be able to hold people responsible for inappropriate behavior even if it's outside of work time. But to me that type of behavior would be racist or homophobic rants or violence etc .... But other people will have different views on what people should be held responsible for, so where do we draw the line? At least for my contract the lines are pretty clear so we know when we're doing something that could come back to bite us... even though I disagree with some of them.
      It's a hard one...

I agree that the timeframe should have been discussed in which those photos were taken. If they were taken awhile ago, well before her career as a teacher, it should NOT be a reason for termination!
