It's not about the whiskey, it's the people you share it with!

Just got my first cigar blend, it was batch 31 “James Bond” I was blown away and very impressed by how complex and easy to drink it was for 120 proof. I don’t know much about cigars so will take some of your recommendations. Thanks Jason!
Jason, you did a wonderful job telling the history of the brand in the beginning of the video. Thank you for the lesson, it's always nice to learn about the bourbon rather than just seeing some random person on the internet drinking it and telling you what they think it tastes like.
Forget Pappy! This tops my wish list. Especially since I love the basic Magnus already. I am waiting for your new cigar channel. Your pairing notes are superb!
Hey Jason, Master Blender Nancy Fraley here! Great review! I agree with you in that I think batch #25, "The Pirate Cask," is more interesting and has more going on than batch #26. I'll have to take your suggestion and try the Oliva Serie V Maduro Especial Toro with batch #25, as it sounds like a very nice match. Cheers, Nancy.
Thanks so much for watching Nancy. The pirate cask is more interesting to me for sure. Absolutely loved it. You will not be sorry trying that Oliva with it. Brings out some great flavors. Let me know anytime when you would like to come on the channel. Cheers and thanks for all you do.
@@TheMashandDrum, Jason, I'd love to do an episode on your channel. I'll get back with you about that very soon! Cheers, Nancy.
@@whiskeyblenderfraley4235 I was able to get a batch 22 and 43. I have a question about your description on 43...are the spice notes you describe in the beginning a description of just the nose? Or the palate also? Cuz then you go on to describe the palate. To be clear I am referencing when you say "In this batch we find spicier notes of spearmint, black licorice, pipe tobacco, sweet molasses, and Bourbon pecan pie filling with dark chocolate chips". Is the palate spice forward too?
Thank you for all you do!!
Hi Jason. Ali Anderson here, General Manager at Jos. A. Magnus. We appreciate the review - thank you so much for the thoughtful tasting of our Cigar Blend. We take it pretty seriously, as you know, and love when others do too!
Hi Ali! Can't say enough about how much I love all your bourbons and whiskeys. Cigar blend is so unique and I love it. Looking forward to more from you guys. Cheers!
Love the cigar pairing content. Keep up the great work 👍🏾
I love the intro!!! Fantastic review of some top notch hitters. Cheers buddy
The camera quality is amazing Jason.
Jason you out did yourself once again. Another hitter of a review. You are the Pete Alonso of whiskey reviews! I totally agree with you about opposites attract. Although I usually go with a medium to mild cigar with high proof whiskey and medium to strong maduro with a low proof.
Keep them hitters comin buddy! BTW Awesome B-Roll
Love the cigar recommendations, I think you should do that more often
We reviewed this in November and paired it with Monte DeLeon cigars La Dama and the Lancero. Simply an amazing pour! Cheers
Great review Jason C. I love batch 19. It is sooo Delicious!!
Review is par excellence as usual bro. That opening cigar lighting scene may be the best cigar lighting scene i’ve ever seen shot. Totally awesome! Challenge for you: when we did a tasting with Nancy, I started to pick up core note or thread I found familiar with all of the different whiskies. Kind of like Nancy’s fingerprint. I’m going to work through them and see if I can nail down exactly what it is. I challenge you to try the same and see if you can find what you would call “Nancy’s Fingerprint.” Message me sometime and we can work it out if you want.
And i’ll add the RomaCraft Intemperance line has been my absolute favorite this year. Love love love those.
@Benjamin Eaves, I'm very curious what you think my "fingerprint" is too! LOL. I'd love for you to drop me a PM. Cheers, Nancy.
@@whiskeyblenderfraley4235 I plan to sit down and work through those samples again here shortly and see if I can nail down what it was. But by the end of our tasting I could tell there was a thread through them all. Will do and cheers!
@@benjamineaves595, please let me know what you come up with. That should be fun to hear about! Cheers, Nancy.
Yep great review as always, love me some Cigar Blend and I'm also nice craving a Cigar Blend and a cigar, thanks for that. Pretty sure I'll be enjoying that VERY SOON! Cheers buddy!
Love the review. I have been searching for this locally.
What able to try batch 21 and it was amazing! Can’t wait till I’m able to find a bottle of ANY batch!
Hey Jason, did you move out to Michigan? Judging from your comments, Indiana is below Michigan. I'm originally from NY, now in Florida. Also I'm Italian so I appreciate your comments concerning the aroma of this Bourbon Blend . Great review, it puts me on the hunt!!!
Not sure what your referring too. I mentioned cincinnati being south of me in Columbus OH. Is that what you meant?
Your B roll is the best!!!!
Thanks for the review. I was just able to get a bottle of batch 25, only one I've ever seen. The benefits of making friends with small local store...
Love those NYC beats you kick down..
I have batch 10 and didn't really like it until about 3 months with air in the bottle. Its good now, but not close to what other people say about the Cigar Blend. Ill review it soon. Great stuff as always, cheers :)
Thanks man. The batches can really differ in flavor. Always tell people to check the notes given by Nancy Fraley. They help alot before you buy.
Armagnac seems to need 3 to 6 months or more to open up. My Delord 25 year kept improving even after 9 months.
Just got batch 65. Any thoughts on it?
I have been hunting for one of these for over a year. Hoping I can discover one at a decent price before Christmas 🎄
I loved the revue Jason but I have more chance of getting a date with Scarlett Johansson than getting my filthy paws on one of these. We need to get some good trade deals with the UK and US, so we can get your good bourbon and you guys can get good Scotch at a fair price. Great show as always.
Thanks man. You and I have the same taste in woman. Lol. Love ScarJo
So I’m guessing I have an older bottling, batch numbers are not located on the bottom right but on far upper right corner shown as #9 418/542
How does it compare to the Dalmore cigar blend?
Haven't had a chance to try that yet unfortunately.
Totally different animal
If it's a different animal, that's a good thing. No fan of Dalmore's ash monster
Great review J. I have the batch 28, but haven't popped the cork yet. Would you recommend a cigar to go with this one?
Batch 28 is very sweet and fruity so I would pair something bold and flavorful like the Oliva V I showed or a Padron 1964.
Current favorite cigar was the Muestra de Saka Exclusivo. Marshmallows and it is sooo good. I was on a meh cigar kick and had one of these and boom. Flavors that were amazing. If you don’t know Steve Saka was the original blender for DE undercrown and liga privida
Will have to seek that one out. Sounds amazing
Great review, as usual
Have heard great things but have never seen one in the wild here in IL. That said do you plan to release a review of the triple cask? That I can find here
Yes. Will be doing that soon
Letssssssssssss goooooooooo Jason it’s Cameron Great jobbbbbb
Damn, those whiskeys sound delicious. One in a million I'll see one in Ontario, but it would probably be an instant buy. Currently, I can strongly recommend the Macanudo inspirado black. Easily my favourite cigar (Dominican). Cheers Jason 🥃🇨🇦🇺🇲
Nice that you have not been bought off by Alec Bradley cigars like many other whiskey reviewers have because they have targeted whiskey reviewers and the reviewers deny it. I wish I could find Cigar Blend at MSRP but Murray Hill at $78.99 is fine for now. Try Illusione cigars if you have not already
I wouldn't do that. I'm not a big cigar guy but I am very selective when I want one. Especially when pairing. Cheers and thanks for the kind words buddy.
Koh En, If you knew how the AB relationship started you wouldn't be saying what you are saying :)... That is, if you're talking about us... Which I assume you are. Working with brands you enjoy seems like a win win to me... Cheers.
Koh En,
This is Alec from Alec Bradley cigars. I am curious who we sponsor other than the bourbon junkies. We work with them and they say that consistently. So I’m guessing you’re not referring to them.
Alec Rubin
Holy B-roll Batman!
Hey old buddy... been a long time! I just recently realized you have this channel and do these videos. Good stuff, love it! Would love to catch up at some point over some bourbon and a stick. Until then, stay smokey my friend!
What's up D! Glad you found the channel. Would definitely love to catch up at some point. Feel free to email me man. Glad to hear from ya.
Do you feel being MGP sourced is a con for a whiskey? I'm new to this, but it seems like I'd naturally prefer a brand that does their own distilling over one that doesn't, even if they invest heavily in finishing and maybe an extra distillation as well.
I would if mgp didn't make such damn good juice. I will say the market is oversaturated with MGP now and there are too many NDPs using it. That's why when blenders and smaller Distilleries like Magnus are using mgp and doing interesting finishes and blends with them then it makes it worth it. I'd much rather buy those than all the 12 and 15 year sourced Whiskey folks are using from Barton, beam and heaven hill.
@@TheMashandDrum Just tossing this onto the wood pile, but possibly a fun topic for a video might be a background/history on MGP and then some of the best ones on the market! Maybe even bad ones as well, and heck why not some non sourced comparisons tossed in too where maybe the lower priced source makes a good alternative. Appreciate the channel! Cheers!
I figure you are referring to MGP juice from Indiana and my grandmas herb garden back in NY😊
LOL! Oh yes.
Or maybe Ohio😊
Can you please write out the names of the 2nd and 3rd cigars that you talked about in this vid.
In the description of the video.
Great H2H review!
Nice intro!
Rarely do I ever disagree.do I go for the 100.00 bottle
Great review, man. Not sure if I'll ever see one of these in the wild, but maybe a bar pour once things are safe again? Cheers!
cheers buddy!
My thoughts exactly 👍🏼
Been searching for this for a long time. Really hard to find.Someone help!
Did you just call the Serie V a Serie five? It’s letter series Jason, what would you call the Serie O? Cheers brother lol
Is the Bardstown Chateau de Laubade still your favorite finished whiskey of the year? Does it have any comparisons to the Cigar Blends that you've tried? I have a Magnus batch 25 that a friend picked up for me which I am still waiting for to arrive.
You will love the 25. Still love that Laubade although that's just straight Armagnac rather than the multiple casks used here.
Great review. And we are one in the same. Let’s eat some bread! (Wife just made a sourdough and I just put together a 🔥 dipping oil!)
Oh hell yes!
Put the blunt down just for a second
Don’t get me wrong it’s not a new method
Inhale... oops wrong kind of video 😁 these I’ve been trying to try. Cheers dude 🥃
Where were you born in Italy? Up and down the country.
Satriano in calabria.
Now Jason is going to have me hunting cigar's 😂
LOL...alot easier to hunt than whiskey.
TY Jason long time not here. Love your reviews. When in Fl look me up brother , Peter Piotr Swieboda
Just found a 25! I never find this stuff.
400-500 here in San Diego
Prices in san Diego are bananas. When I was there I couldn't believe the prices.
@@TheMashandDrum yep. It makes hunting rough.
Were you cutting that cigar or giving it a circumcision?
Lol. Whatever floats your boat I guess.
Anyone had batch 22?
It's to die for
One of my favorite bourbons!!!
Mine too!
Batch 19 and 20 are amazing... I don't have the newer ones yet!!
@@bourbonsanta Nancy Fraley just released the tasting notes for the newest ones. they sound epic.
Yeah I saw that, too bad I probably won't see them for a year or two
Bro you scalped that cigar lol hopefully it didn't unravel
Looked worse than it was. I only cut the very end off.
Not worth north of $300 sorry Jason nice review as always
That whisky is $350.00
Not at retail. But I've seen it that high
