Hey Sean and Dan, J. Magnus Master Blender Nancy Fraley here. Hope it isn't too inappropriate for me to make a comment or two, but I just wanted to give you a few technical details (and naturally I'm stoked that my baby Cigar Blend did well in your blind review!). Even though legally on the label Cigar Blend mentions three different cask finishes (Armagnac, Cognac, and Sherry), for all practical purposes, the real finish is only in vintage Armagnac casks. These days I use about 5% or less of the regular Joseph Magnus Triple Cask in a "coupe mere," or mother blend, of Cigar Blend, with the majority of the blend coming from 12 to 20 year old stock that has not been submitted to a secondary finish. All of this then goes into Armagnac barrels from anywhere between 4 months to over a year, depending on what I need out of the barrels. Seeing as how you guys liked the Magnus Cigar Blend and Bardstown Chateau de Laubade expressions the most, which both feature Armagnac finishes, my guess is that you guys have a propensity for vintage Armagnacs and just don't know it yet! You should really explore the world of Armagnac if you haven't already. It is a natural go-to for Bourbon connoisseurs who want to check out brandy. Cheers, Nancy.
@@whiskeyblenderfraley4235 wow thanks for the input Nancy it's very insightful. I've had one bottle of Cigar Blend and think it's fantastic. I'm also a big fan of the triple finish. Now if only I can find another Cigar Blend as I'm about down to the last pour...
Nancy! I was able to find Cigar Blend batch 83 in Maryland just outside of DC. Haven’t opened it yet but will get to it for sure. Also grabbed the triple finished batch 173. Opened that immediately. Holy crap! You are the Bourbon Whisperer. I watched 3-4 interviews and learned some things from each one. Keep them coming and we’ll keep buying. Also, as a musician I’m very familiar with perfect pitch. Seems like you have that only with a palate. What a gift.
CIGAR for the win!!!!!!! Nancy you are the Master Blender with your "Cigar Blend". Please keep up the good work!!! It's soooo yummy and all of my Bourbon Club members are head over heels about it. Sean and Dan you guys keep these awesome videos coming!!!! We watch them and do tastings and follow along with whatever bottles we have as a group. Sometimes it's all 17 of us and sometimes just 2 or 3. CHEERS!!!!! Drink More Bourbon and Rye Whiskey!!!!!!
Wow! I’ve walked by that Jos Magnus cigar blend a thousand times. Not gonna happen again. That series of Bardstown is a little more elusive Rn. Great show as always fellas!! 🥃 cheers
I have a lot of bottles on my bar but none of these. I think I sampled the Scooby Doo once (think) and didn’t love but it could have been a different BTown 🤪. I just bit the bullet and bought Cigar Blend secondary but the only bottle the store had leaked so they couldn’t ship to me, what a tease! I have yet to find the Four Gate Kelvin and I have to relook at the vid to see which AE that is. After seeing this I have to stay after the Cigar Blend and make sure I try the Scoob this time. Thanks a guys (2 yrs old)
Wow. ... impressive. I have been pushing around the idea of buying a barrel pick of Joseph magnus CB at my "spot". Its $98.... I think I know what I'm doing tomorrow
I had zero doubt Angel’s Envy was going to be last against these hitters. I don’t think any Port finished whiskey can stand up to the dynamic and sweet finishing of the other three. Cigar Blend is officially number one on my FOMO list.
I see a Redwood Empire in the background. Do you like it? Should I pick one up? Picked up the latest 3 after watching your other videos. Really enjoyed this video.
@12:01 Koolaid impression by Sean... best part of video by far!!! Oh, and Bardstown Scooby Doo kicking a$$ again! Side note: my local just got in 120 bottles of ECBP B520!!! At $59.99 each how many would you buy??? Cheers, great vid!!!
Hey I just got a local store email about three new redwood 12 year haystack needle barrel finished bottles they are Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, and port finished. For 149.99 which would you lean as I can only get one . Never seen a Chardonnay
Have you had many whiskies finished in white wine barrels? I don't like them myself, So I would definitely go with the cabernet or port over the chardonnay, but that's just me.
Would have liked to see BO Pact 6 make it in as a 5th for the war. Also enjoyed how the first 5min Dan gave no notes besides " angel's wing feather" and "nice oil slick"
Drowing pheasant, it's Dan's tasting technique where you put a little whiskey on the front of your tongue, then you too your head back. Before you drown you tip it back forward to coat your tongue. He swears by it.
Before I finish watching the video I’m going to take a guess of what you guys are going to pick… One of you will pick the Joseph Magnus and the other will pick Bardstown
Hey Dan I thought you were a Southern-wannabe?! You must know that flip flops have the thong between the 1st and 2nd toes...the end! What you are selling are slides, so correct Sir! Gotta do better if we are going to accept you down here...#southernboomer

When we get walls of text like this it's usually a little mean. Thanks for all the info and insight into these products!
Love your cigar blend, Nancy! Thanks for being a kick ass woman in bourbon! Love a fellow lady bourbon afficionado❤️❤️

I like blending 25 year old Armagnac with Bourbon. 90% Buffalo Trace with 10% Armagnac. Fruit bomb with chocolate
“Smells like the color red looks” 😂😂😂

That JM cigar blend is on point. I have batch 2 and it’s amazing. Saving literally the last 2 oz of it.
Can’t find it out there wanna try it next
18 19 didn't touch 44 50 or 60
Joseph Magnus Cigar Blend.... YAY!!!
I love the results!!
20 thousand subscribers well done boys Cheers!
The look on Sean's face when Dan describes the dried sugar plum after questioning the dates was priceless

Dan loves that Magnus to death.
Just saw you guys hit 20K Subs! Wanted to say Congratulations. You guys are the BEST!
Appreciate it!
Oh yeah!!!! Cool-aid man note was awesome.
Dying to try a Cigar Blend and that BBC. Great video guys

That Bardstown bottle is getting some LOVE! Awesome flight!
it's an awesome bottle, for sure a company I'd want to be a spokesperson of!

I was waiting for the Kool-Aid man to come Boston to the wall LOL
Needed Redwood Empire 12 yr port in there
Just did my tasting as well, seems like I match up tasting with Dan too.
This makes me so happy just watching! Haha a feather off an angel's wing lol
Heck yeah! I just got the samples you guys sent and now can't wait to try them out!!
Not a surprising result to be fair, but all are good, some are just better than others.
Cheers 🥃

20k subs?? Nice job dorks! Corona virus made alot of us stay home, drink whiskey and join whiskey youtube communities 😆
We appreciate it

I got an ad for a Philadelphia cream cheese claiming that they have a “cream cheese Somme”. They’re learning from Dan.

I expected fourgate to be higher but overall not surprised with how the order ended up.
I really had no clue how it would shake out, they're all good bottles
I'm about to buy 4 Gate Batch 6 and 7, worth it or not?
Love them both, batch 7 is pretty much front runner for rye of the year.
I had zero doubt Angel’s Envy was going to be last against these hitters. I don’t think any Port finished whiskey can stand up to the dynamic and sweet finishing of the other three. Cigar Blend is officially number one on my FOMO list.

Yea we like redwood a lot
A couple drops of water opens that batch 6 up to crazy new levels of flavor
Gotta put the Belle Meade Sherry in that blind!
so these were our "top" based off just having had them and thinking what was the best for us.
I enjoyed the video boys...not as much as Dan enjoyed making it though.😳
Let’s get another finished whisky blind challenge for 2023
Since these are all MGP I hope I can find them here in Indiana
You guys need to include Woodinville Port Cask next time.
Sadly will likely never see any of these in 🇨🇦😢. Bring back the Drowning Pheasant t-shirt!
We might eventually
Was I the only one that expected Dan to frisbee one of those coasters at Sean when he said throw me one? Lol
Actually shocked he didn't now that you say that

"Subscribe" pop-up is pro. And, here in Commiefornia, we refer to dried plums as prunes. #MindBlown

Truth Seeker, I gambled and went with the port finished. Should have early next week.
DJ Beacon yeah my gut said that or cab, however my curiosity wants me to choose Chardonnay even though I don’t typically enjoy many of those
Have you had many whiskies finished in white wine barrels?
I don't like them myself, So I would definitely go with the cabernet or port over the chardonnay, but that's just me.
@@peaceandwealthseeker4504 Tried all 3 of the finishes in a tasting. The Cab was by far my favorite.
Brandon Sprague nice cab was the first one my gut said to get as I love those flavors generally speaking
Would have liked to see BO Pact 6 make it in as a 5th for the war. Also enjoyed how the first 5min Dan gave no notes besides " angel's wing feather" and "nice oil slick"
He's good like that, also we learned long ago 5 is a nightmare. Dan can barely do 4.
What about some Belle Meade Boys !!!
Batch#?? JMCB
Great review! Do you know which batch the Magnus is? I believe Joseph A. Mag just released Cigar Blend batches 23-28.

Batch sixT
For a second there, I thought Sean’s face looked like Blanton’s snuck in the flight and took home the W.
wouldn't be the first time, probably won't be the last.
Bourbon Junkies hahaha. I know what you mean. I got a Blind Flight in the mail yesterday and guess what won...
You guys should do a shot of vodka before your tastings. I find it to help pull flavors from the whiskey.
😂
thought for a sec Dan was going to pull another stroke moment from the livestream and just down A. at least he left a little this time
well we shot this before the live stream, I'd have lost it if he did that more than once in a week.
Love your videos. A side step... what is the name of the song being played a the end of the video?
Dj Quads - Early
I can’t find the Joseph Magnus cigar blend out here where I’m at...would love for you guys to do a cigar pairing with it
Dan smokes everything with that
I need a bottle of the Bardstown Laubade
It's amazing.
Angel's Envy is the shit!
These are all mgp which makes sense on why they're the best lol
I need clarification, Was that "drawing pheasant", "drowning pheasant"? Definition?
Drowing pheasant, it's Dan's tasting technique where you put a little whiskey on the front of your tongue, then you too your head back. Before you drown you tip it back forward to coat your tongue. He swears by it.
👍
Have you guys reviewed the Angel's Tawny?
We haven't, really like it though.
These are a little out of my price range. Any suggestions for

@@BourbonJunkies thanks will have to pick up at local total wine 👍
How did MWND not make this tasting? Would have CRUSHED the competition.
Hahahahahahaha would've been deadddddd last
@@BourbonJunkies Fine... But only because it's summer... Maybe...
@@BourbonJunkies Kindalike Blanton's?? 😆😉
Bro’s, Go grab a bottle of 30 year old Laubade Armagnac for $100 from Total. Great stuff
The cream rises but so does the shit 😆
For once I don't have to go buy a new bottle after watching a BJ video!
Here in 2023, should I pay $250 for a Cigar blend. To add to that, I’ve never owned one.
What was the batch of the magnus cigar blend/.?
22
Would Dovetail beat out some of these?
I don't think so, it was going to be in there until we got the new bardstown.
How is Maker's Mark bourbon?
because it follows the rules of bourbon. They just sub out the Rye with Wheat in the mash bill.
How is whistle pig 12 not in this?
Every bottle in the line up crushes WP12.
I keep passing on Joseph Magnus at my ABC store for $99. Maybe I should reconsider.
If you enjoy finished whiskey I would not.

What batch cigar blend is that?
I believe we have 22
What batch on the Magnus please? 😀

Bourbon Junkies thank you. I have 18. Will look for 22
I’ve only had one finished whiskey and not a big fan of it I guess that doesn’t mean they’re all not Like that…
What was it that you had?

Don't leave out Barrell Dovetail...

You need to correct a bunch of your video titles. You do not make "whiskeys" plural by using an apostrophe. It's "whiskeys" and not "whiskey's".
Probably could have fixed it the last 500 comments that pointed that out, I think it's more fun to see how many people comment on it now
How many noses do you have
Ummmmmmm Where in the hell do I get a THICCCCCC BOY T shirt???
