Hey Fellas, its Nancy here. Out of curiosity, what batch of Cigar Blend do you have? I can probably tell you more about the batch with that info. Also just for some technical pointers, I wanted to mention that the Sherry & Cognac notes are pretty much negligible in the taste profile, as I use about 18 to 20% of the triple cask JMB in the blend just so it isn't too dry with a cigar or pipe. The majority cask finished notes will be coming from the Armagnac casks. The majority comes from 12 year old MGP bourbon (21% recipe) with some 20 year old bourbon to give it some depth.
At any rate, I have fond memories of smoking cigars and drinking whiskey with you on the front porch at Iron Root Republic distillery a year ago in December, Daniel!
    Cheers to you guys,
    Nancy

Im only 18 and two months ago I knew I liked whiskey but I'd never go out of my way to drink it, then I came across a channel called the whiskey vault..., 2 months later, there's now 19 unfinished bottles of whisky in my room ranging for Japanese to scotch to Bourbon to Irish. I recently purchased your merchandise (one of the hoodies) and I have to say i am now truly a whisky enthusiast. Be proud Daniel and Rex, your inspiring the younger generation for the love of whisky!!! I will make teenagers of this generation like whisky and share the love and passion for it:)

I like this setup. Daniel nerds out for the most part, and the Rex reels him in. With Rex going wild and Daniel reeling him in, it felt like chaos mixed with information instead of information mixed with chaos. This is just enough fun with just enough knowledge bombs (whether the knowledge is true or not)

    G'day Tom here,
I am from Australia and 21 years old. Had my first experience enjoying a neat whiskey when I went to Scotland and visited the Glengoyne distillery. Glengoyne 10 year is my favourite but you guys have taught me how to enjoy all whiskeys. I just got home from Japan and brought a bottle of Yamazaki and Chivas Regal Mizunara home with me. I just want to say thank you for teaching me how to be a snobby alcoholic

So I have been on your channel for about 3 weeks now and have watched most of the videos and spent about 350.00 on whisky. While my wife is probably ready to strangle me but I am really loving it. I was a vodka man who switched to Hennessy and flavored whisky mixed with ginger ale. I decided to try something else after my yearly viewing of band of brothers. In that captain Nixon drinks Vat69. So I went out and bought it. I liked it and decided to try something that was less bottom shelf. I was blown away by the difference and complexities. Now my favorites so far are Highland Park and Laphoraig. this weekend the wife creature and I are going out and the pace we picked has a great whisky selection. I am dead set on Ardbeg, Lagavulin and Bowmore. I am thinking about Dalmore 12 for her. Any suggestions?

Hey guys. Long time craft beer drinker trying to cross over. I don't have a very educated pallet when it comes to liquor.....yet. I never liked light American beers (bud, coors , etc). I always preferred heavy stouts, porters, some ipas, or anything with a coffee or chocolate flavor. So several months ago I stubbled upon a chocolate flavored whiskey by Birddog. Loved it. Could even sip it straight no ice no nothing. This is right when I discovered your channel through a Richard Patterson video. I immediately went out a bought some dalmore 12 and immediately regretted it. So any recommendations to a new subscriber would be great. I have since learned about 2 other chocolate whiskeys, Ballotin and Prichards, but haven't obtained them yet. Any others out there? Or anything with strong coffee notes, or on the sweet side? Love the channel, you guys are awesome.

There is a story behind the Speyside Cask, but I'm struggling to get it straight in my head. Something about how JP Wiser's sent something over to Scotland or did these guys a favour or something, and in return, they asked for an empty cask to experiment with.
As I understand it, Wiser's (Cdn Whisky Doc: Don Livermore & crew) is using the Pike Creek line specifically for experimenting with creative finishing options.
    So far they have:
♦ 10 year finished in Rum Casks
♦ 21 year finished in Speyside Casks
♦ Port Cask finished (some bottles specify 10 years, others appear to be NAS)
♦ 21 year finished in European Oak Casks
The 10 year expressions are pretty economical, I believe in the sub-$50 CAD range, while the 21 year expressions are a little more, they are at probably half the cost of a similarly aged Scotch.
Got to try the European Oak at the Banff Whisky Experience last fall, and it had some interesting toasted notes. Tasty!!

Hello, as you could probably guess from my user name, I found this magnificent channel thanks to your Heavens Door reviews. You've inspired me to join the whiskey world; however, I've never been a big liquor drinker so getting over the bite has been a bit of a challenge. I've bought some makers, monkey shoulder, and 2 of every Heavens Door (because I admittedly have a fandom problem). I'm planning on saving 1 of each of the Dylan bottles. Is there something I should be doing to make it last potentially decades? Also, as a total novice, i have practically no flavor recognition, but I'm getting a funk on the back end of the monkey shoulder that really isn't appealing to me. Is that funk common in most scotch? Thank you!

Froot loops eh? So I was sitting down with a glass of Aberlour 12 and my kids sit down beside me to watch a movie. They brought some Doritos. I didn't want to ruin my fine beverage (I feel chips are too salty with whisky) so I go to the pantry to find something else to eat. Dont' know why but I decided on dry Froot Loops. I actually enjoyed the pairing and have started experimenting with other less sugary dry cereals. What snacks do you recommend with whisky?

Quick question. I like balantine's blended scotch as a basic whiskey to drink. My fast food equivalent whiskey if you will. My question is; is it possible that once in a while I get a bottle that tastes diferent. By that I mean that 2 weeks ago I bought a bottle end upon tasting my first glass, I was hit by a significantly much richer nose and subsequently much richer taste. I have waited a week and retasted it, and I got the same richer nose and taste. So is it possible that I get noticably diferent quality blends from Balantine's?

Never had Wiser's, but Four roses single barrel imo is one of the best at it's price point. Higher proof makes it interesting enough if you're looking for some more kick, yet it's not that aggressive that it couldn't be a daily sipper. Also makes a great old fashioned!

A lot of really cool stuff is happening there. I can’t remember immediately when I tried, but I’m like most of anything coming from New York so far.

@@WhiskeyVault I just moved up here and have found it interesting that most of the newer distilleries I've come across are big on sourcing their mash bills as local as they can and doesn't seem many source so there's a lot of young whiskey.

Whenever y'all find a great sherried whiskey (hard to find, I know), y'all should sing out the chorus of Steve Perry's "Oh Sherrie". HOLDS ON... HOLDS ON...

I picked up a couple of bottles of Kininvie 23 on sale for $99aud each awhile back, but found it rather disappointing. Not bad, just kind of meh.

They hated the Dogmaster Whiskey in 2018 when they first tasted it.
